The way xp is distributed would be altered for the new system. If my level ten is sked by a 50 against a level 53 he would recieve the same xp as if he were faceing a +1 in a normal unsked mission.
The maximum xp an sked player could get would be relative to a +1.
So imagine he were in a mission of his own fighting plus ones and he recieved 50 xp for "defeating" a +1 minion. He's then invited to a level 50 mission againsts 50 and 53s.
He beats a 50 minion. He recieves.. 50,xp. He beats a 53 minion. He recieves .. 50 xp.
This is because, to prevent that kind of abuse and to keep the sk in the spirit in which is was intented (friends teaming across the levels)the game would be set to only allow the same xp as plus one.
So, it woulkd be impossible to get the xp for +4 or +5 therefore it would NOT be Plers paradise.
[/ QUOTE ]
You have missed the point again, under your system getting 50 xp is just great because you are getting it on 3,4,5,6,7 toons and at a fast rate.
[/ QUOTE ]
People in general seem oblivious to this. The amount of times on PuGs we've been safely but slowly grinding through reds and purples. People never seem to grasp the idea that its faster to fly through whites, yellows and oranges and the XP rate is better, especially if you're AOE orientated. -

Or drive-by Wormholing enemies from roofs.
Although I stopped doing that when I started to consider the shock it'd give lowbies in the zone when it started raining (purpling conning) men.

muhahah i almost wet myself laughing at this one

Out of interest, why is it that people who play MMOs seem to have such poor bladder control?
[/ QUOTE ]
Here it's because we're all old and our sphincters are decrepid.
Actually I do see a glut of Silver MMO players in years to come :
"BRB, prostate is flaring up"
"BRB, getting a nice cup of complan"
And other such sterotypes. -

And they may be right, but what's that got to do with the CoT?
[/ QUOTE ]
DE were mentioned here

they no longer care for mankind and are working with the DE and magic to clean this world for the better. whats not to understand.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure its actually true but was more trying to impress onto GG that what she perceives as Good and Evil is frequently just a point of view.
Although I would struggle to apply the same logic to the CoT admittedly, unless the CoT Spirits doing the possessing see humans as some form of animal useful only for riding around 'on' (which I doubt they do since a lot of them used to be human). -

In my scenario, the worst case seenario that everyone is hitting me with, is being in a team against (scaled) + 1s getting xp relative to that.
[/ QUOTE ]
See above, you dont seem to understand the value of being able to PL 7 SEVEN people at the same time.
[/ QUOTE ]
And what knowledge of 50s (or over 38s in a lot of cases) being able to PL 7 people at the same time would do to the actions of lowbies.
Look at what used to happen with no herding caps and things like Fire tanks, it was abused to high heavens, the exact same thing would happen here, people would immediately abuse it. -

There you go. Arrogant wasn't a word I had actually used in reference to you, but you're definately making the assumption there that I don't understand what your idea entails. I do, you just refuse to accept that, and believe myself and anyone else who disagrees just doesn't understand you. I think that you don't understand how such a system would actually work, but I'm not going to assume that. Perhaps you do and want it that way.

We're going round in circlesa and I keep dropping the thread and someone one makes points that prompt me to reply.
Rereading what I wrote it does seem that I patronised you. I apologise for that. I didnt mean it qiute as harshy as it came out.
Ok. Last night 2 very interesting things happened. I was sked into a 8 team. I played off (after sk) against + 5s.
Now at level 25 myself. what real value did I add to the team?
A too high proportion of my strikes missed and when I hit I caused minimal damage.
However I gained 2 levels. ( i was about 3 bars into a level when we kicked off,.)
Meanwhile, a player who had 2 accounts brought his level ONE to the team.
The rest of the team were (apart from a level 31 and a 33)level 34 ish (the mobs were 35)
I could and strictly speaking should, have SKed with a 34 for team efficentcy sake. But I wanted the extra xp being +5 could afford me, knowing I was covered by a pretty strong team.
The level 1 guy finished the session at about level 8 I think.
Now, both he and I exploited a loophole in the gaming system. The team didnt benefit from us. We benefitted from it.
And we';re both pleased about it but- should that opportunity be open to us? Isnt that kind of thing (and it goes on, understandably, all the time) against the spirit of the game?
In my scenario, the worst case seenario that everyone is hitting me with, is being in a team against (scaled) + 1s getting xp relative to that.
And the only upside to all that is that the 50s team could wipe the map a bit quicker than If I stayed in a team at my normal level.
So while you could argue through the eye of a needle that yes, it is possible to mildly power level, it just doesnt compare even remotely to the current system.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes it does, as I've already pointed out, because it'll be 7 lowbies at a go rather than 1 level 25 and one lowbie.
Plus since its automatic word would get out, a lot of people would start making their "system" for the low zones "Go to PI. Beg for 8 man PL team. Profit" rather than actually playing the lower levels.
And yes the rest of your team did benefit from your presense : larger spawn sizes. -

CoT aren't evil... just misunderstood.

They're not doing a very good job of trying to be understood then

they no longer care for mankind and are working with the DE and magic to clean this world for the better. whats not to understand.
[/ QUOTE ]
The argument that they're a force for good?
[/ QUOTE ]
Good is relative.
As far as the DE are concerned they're the good guys. We're the ones destroying the planet and wiping out fellow species, they're just combatting that. -

The good griefers, sure.
The bad ones will roll a Warshade because they don't realise how easy it is to find someone's Global handle.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just out of interest, how? I know of one way, but if they stay silent, or just use emotes, that won't work.
[/ QUOTE ]
Have a look at their Notes (right-click and Player Notes I think) the Global is always listed in there. -

Mmhmm. The boombox is just for fun, but the standard RP griefing mechanism is to stand in between two talking characters, drop a boombox and stand there like a moron.
[/ QUOTE ]
ooh, that's a nice onethanks for the tip
[/ QUOTE ]
I hear you can also roll a Warshade and spam TP quite annoyingly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Although I completely disagree with Ravenwing's argument here, should we really be handing out suggestions to the idiots that grief the RP crowd?
[/ QUOTE ]
They WERE the RP crowd apparently.
It's just that they don't all sing from the same hymn sheet which seems to cause friction.
Personally I'd say GG is a very public area, if you wanted to get some proper RP done without distractions do it elsewhere. I'd consider GG more like an RP lobby, where people chat and mess about than a location for serious RP The same with any public area, even from my tabletop RP days. If you want to preserve an atmosphere go somewhere private, don't expect those in a public area to conform to your standards. Even at conventions and the like it was common to go to a sideroom for more intense RP sessions (Cthulhu really doesn't work in a room of 500 with Paranoia LARPers running about and yelling. You start thinking "Bugger. I didn't know there was Paranoia LARP on"). -

[ QUOTE ]
Not a PL mogul but I was always under the impression that speed and ease trumped High "single numbers" as well. i.e. a couple of 50's can quickly and repeatedly clear a farming mission much quicker than a team of 16's could clear one of their missions therefore even if they are only +1's to the 16 they're gonna drop so much quicker and xp/min is going to be higher..
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats right, then add in the fact that under Lions's scheme you can do that for 7 of your friends or 5 or even 3 at the same time and that is the PL'ing hole in the plan.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly, its the rate a 50 or two can deal with massive spawns compared to lower levels (especially an AOE specialist like a Fire/Kin or Spines/*) which makes the difference. It's like a Sewer Run to the Nth degree. I've seen this myself SKing a teen SG member whilest my Fire/Rad and a Kin/Dark street hunted in Bricks. They made 2 or 3 levels insanely quickly and we weren't even trying to leverage the system, just standard hyper street hunting. And we were just 30-somethings, so we didn't even have epics. Imagine that with 5 other lowbies in tow in a mission.
You won't be able to pull off the Bridging PL trick, but since one 50 could auto-sk and PL 7 people (and probably be happy about it since it acts as a Fill for them so their Inf rate will still be pretty good, so its got a bit of farming synergy too) it more than offsets that. And since its auto you don't need a 46 and a 50 to pull it off. Lowbies would know they could just go to PI and beg for PLs. -

If you'd been at Galaxy Girl last night, you'd have seen.

Hee hee. Peeps is asplodie all over the place!
Since the timer is set to an hour recast there must have been tonnes of people doing it to ye for it to be a nuisance, its not like one person could spam it (compared to say running up and doing the Pumpkin emote over and over, or just unleashing all their normal powers at you). -
[ QUOTE ]
It's good to see yet another pay for add on pack that was thoroughly play tested and ensured to not actually break anything, isn't it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed. Especially considering the way the new auras work so well with all of the new ATs just introduced in the last issue too.
I'd be seriously more irked about that (auras & crabs not playing well together). The Self-destruct is a bit of a gimmick, the costume and aura options are really the meat of the pack. -
[ QUOTE ]
But think how much children cost and they won’t let you dress them up in cyborg outfits – well not all the time anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
We'll see about that!
I'm pretty sure if I suggested to my nephew that he should dress up as a robot there'd be no changing him back afterwards (my daughter is still a little small to appreciate cyborgs, although her favourite book is "That's not my Robot").
*note to self, find a cyborg outfit for a 4 year old boy* -
[ QUOTE ]
well you beat me finding this bug by about 4 hours...
you dont have to log to fix this though (and it wont always occur, on 2 tries only once did i get stuck) moving to any other map will also resolve the issue (ouro for example)

Hmmm. Will the /sync command resolve it? -

You wouldnt be able to powerlevel if this system were implemented. Can I be any clearer than that?
[/ QUOTE ]
How would you not be able to power level with your system?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's what I've been wondering too. I even went back through your posts looking for an explaination but there's none there. You keep saying it without explaining it.
So explain please. -
So you came back to the discussion on the boards to say you don't want to discuss it on the boards any more?
That makes sense.
I'm against it because it seems to be so exploitable and the current system seems to work great. 1 mentor, 1 sidekick. Seems fair enough to me.
I don't care about what a group of friends do together, but the shadow of lots of newbies (whether new players or new toons) hanging around the PI ferry and drive-by telling any 50s passing by to SK a gaggle of them and PL them fills me with fear for the game community.
Chumps Online seem to be expanding on it merely to expand on it IMO. -

Now just imagine 7 Fulcrum Shifted members what could do!

I'm guessing if they've closed the Vengie & Fallout exploit they've made this like the vet powers and it won't be enhanced by damage buffs? -
I hope ye keep us informed of what occurs ingame/on irc. I'm really enjoying this thread. Especially since I've got that Greek music from the end of Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking barrels going on in my head (where all the gangsters and whatever are all headed for the same place and all hell is about to break loose).

The cost of putting it in the store is tiny compared to what the cost of creating something like the Cyborg pack is.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't remember disputing that.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, you are splitting hairs. the cost to put it in the store isn't exactly equal to zero, but its so close to zero as to be insignificant.
[/ QUOTE ]
I do dispute that though, I doubt it's anywhere close to zero with testing costs and things like getting articles and blurb decided on and signed off.
I am splitting hairs though, I'll admit that. But the stupid thing just irks me (plus I want a ciggie. I need one of those punchy-squeezey stress ball thingies). -

This is just pathetic and doesn't seem to make much financial sense to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
It makes perfect finacial sense, since the thing already existed, it cost them nothing, so all it take is for one person to buy it and it will make a profit.
[/ QUOTE ]
So its going to magically appear ingame as a new purchase option without anyone adding it to a store?
The details for it will appear on the website and forums without a paid employee of NCSoft adding them and without the posts needing to be written, vetted, approved and posted?
All this costs money too, NCSoft money rather than NCNC developer costs but the point still stands.
But either way is good. Either (1) It'll make some continious money for NCSoft or (2) It'll bomb and they won't be bothered doing such silly things in the future again. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but then look at it compared to something like a Sky Subscription...

30 days of real life time sadly.

Sad sums it up totally.
How on earth they considered this worthwhile is beyond me. I'm not hugely impressed with the Cyborg pack but at least its useful to those that want it.
This is just pathetic and doesn't seem to make much financial sense to me.
Maybe I'm wrong though, maybe there will be idiots buying this over and over for each of their new toons? -
