    US server exodus

    [ QUOTE ]
There'll always the chance of meeting rude idiots when you play; that's just the nature of things (or of people, if you prefer).

From everything I've read you're at least as likely to meet one in the US as over here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Given the time difference more so if you play in the evenings. 10pm over here is Back From School hour over there,

I dont expect someone who is so ignorant as to write something like this to understand what I was getting at or why I was getting at it.

Bye bye little man. Or, more likely judging by the writing, boy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
And you wonder why people have a hard time taking you seriously...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually i know full well why.
And what? You like people you never spoke to calling you thick?

    [/ QUOTE ]

And so yet another Lions thread ends in a big fireball. Quell surprise!

If you find it insulting to be called thick I'd change your signature so. You can't give out to someone calling you what you freely admit you are.

This thread's back from the dead, like someone beaten half to death by a shield toting vigilante

You're not even trying to hide the flamebaiting now, are you?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Absolutely, let's get straight to the GG bashing. How constructive.

Nice story, little bit emo maybe. Not always sure that humanizing more or less inhuman baddies works.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Given how Emo the CK seems in the Lady Grey TF with that speech it seemed to fit quite well.

And if anyones got the right to be a bit emo about things its a floating brain in a jar

Are you suggesting that more brass mechanical spiders would not be a good thing?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

It depends. If they come with a wiki-wiki-wild-wild-west zone then nope

Unless there's a mission where we get to beat up a rapping cowboy called Smiff of course...
  5. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
CO is going to have a 'wild west' zone, some sort of spooky dude ranch. Going to seem like copying if they did that.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Can you really copy something that's copying you?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They're not. They're copying Westworld instead! Good idea too, creepy film that.

If CoX did it it'd have to be more like Wild Wild West (*shudders*) so they could work in some brass mechanical spiders. I don't think anyone wants that now, do they?

Re-re-reading the thread I even had a conversation with Valk about the DA co-op zone.

    Damn short term memory loss.
  7. Happy 21st, and congrats again on the pressie
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Shouldn't that be 'Surrender, evil scum!' instead Alpha? These are heroes, after all.

A low level co-op starting zone has been suggested before, and was very popular then and still is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

One of the finest suggestion posts ever made IMO (which I really, really want, along with a RWZ style revamp of Dark Astoria for 20-35s with an epic storyline along the lines of the RWZ or Faultline one with BP, CoT and Tsoo).

*Edit : Re-reading it I just realised Valk also suggests the Dark Astoria co-op thing. That makes it offically the bestest suggestion ever made in terms of new content

    Arena Tweaks.

I don't even USE Arena much and still want these.

They're basic quality of life options the system should have had in from the start.

Arena is actually a good example (along with the Auction House interface) about why I'm a bit dubious / worried about the forthcoming Mission Creator in i13. Cryptic / NCNC have never seemed to be very good at making decent interface controls and options for the features they add on, although hopefully they're getting better at it.

My point was that we COULD swap from monthly subscriptions to paying for issues, without losing money, then we should attract new ppl

    [/ QUOTE ]

I strongly doubt we could myself, I'll change my tune if you can produce a logical argument as to why you make this assertion (bearing in mind CoX doesn't have the PvP strengths that Guild Wars was developed and marketed with)

It'd also be an unnecessary risk for a company to take, risk their current guarenteed monthly revenue and risk it on a pack selling well to recoup their losses.

((Indeed, great little story. Very enjoyable to read.))
  12. [ QUOTE ]
ok don't know if this is mentioned before but if has I apologise. You still want people in the same mission of various different levels, but you cannot auto mentor or sidekick, there is a third option ingame. When the rikti invasion starts we get the xp appropiate to our level despite having various memebers on our tema of different levels. It doesn't matter if you mentor or not (it would still gain more xp if you emntor i believe)

If this was done ingame to all the in-mission NPC's (maybe not TF's)people would earn xp appropiate to their level. It would not stop farming, but will stop powerlevelling and you can invite anyone to your team nomatter what level they are.

    is this maybe the solution?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is more or less what Lions's idea does, SKs would be -1 to the base level of the enemies in the mission XP-wise (so at Heroic everything would con yellow / orange to them).

The issue isn't just how they con though, its how quickly a 50 can get through them. So even if they are just yellow to the SKs the fact the 50 is churning through them at a higher rate than they'd normally manage means 7 ultra-lowbies would still be levelling much faster (at with no risk or effort really) than they normally could. And the perception that they could go that would be the mosty damaging thing to the populations of the lowbie zones IMO.

And as for oner 50 dealing with a map of 8 spawn, using 7 sked level 10s or 20s, you have to be really really good to do that and not have an untold number of deaths to the lower level (training io) players. Most people are nowhere near that standard.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
All the low level characters have to do is stay out of the way. Frosty Robot can solo an 8 man invincible spawn without even trying, and many other level 50 builds can too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

there are very few players who can play as well as you can, with your understanding of the way the game works numerically. i did say youde have to be very good indeed and you fit that bill.

Although if any one char can quickly wipe an 8 player spawn isnt something a bit wrong with the game?

How can you find a challenge if youre teaming with 7 players if you can wipe the floor with the entire spawn alone?

    [/ QUOTE ]

My Fire/Rad can wipe the floor with an 8 man spawn, but not an 8 man spawn of +2s (ie not an invincible spawn). That's trickier (but doable). The difference is the time take to kill the lot of them, ideally you want them dead by the time Flashfire or Cinders expires.

That's why if your system was to be implemented him doing the missions at the 2nd degree of diff would be about right and would PL them faster than if I was fighting higher level ones (since they always count as +1s to those SKed anyway, it suits them and me more).

I'm a bit surprised a Tank would have the damage output to solo an 8 man spawn of +2s/+3s quickly though to be honest.

You'll be sorely missed, and I hope you decide to see your way to gatecrashing... erm... attending events every so often, from the other side of the desk.

See you on Saturday, for Movies, Booze and Gaming 'til our eyes bleed.

    I have a Robot/Trap MM.

In deciding that I had gone the wrong way about a 52 Boss whom I couldn't quite beat and given up on trying. Rather than simply avoiding debt by running away only to be leaving the mission and going to the RWZ base for insps. I self detonated. I avoided debt, got a fast trip back to RWZ base for insps and looked cool in doing it because my bots look like they all self detonated as well.

Yes, this power really has brought the Death Taxi back from the, erm, dead. The Hollows revamp and flightpacks sorta killed it recently. Good to see it back

Ultimately all disagreements boil down to that.

Arrgh. The "RAWR RAWR RAWR" thread has turned into an after-school special.

"Next up on Springer, the PvPers who say using Inspirations is cheating. erm, lol"
  18. I'm amazed that within 24 hours 3 seperate issues are reported, identified and patched.

Given how long the bug cycle usually is it's rather surprising unless the devs knew about one or more of these beforehand.

Aye, all the lowbies have to do is stand there and look pretty (unless you wanted one to get killed for some Fallout & Vengy abuse). My Fire/Rad could steam through 8 man spawns too fairly handly, he's been soloing hazard zone spawns since about level 10 (and he's not even 50 yet, in his case on Defiant it'd make sense for him to do this whenever possible since its hard to get a regular PuG on Defiant sometimes, there's lots more lowbies generally on than 40 somethings).

And if you're applying the rule that the XP gained by the sidekicks will always be like beating +1s you can just run it on the second diff, it'll just make things quicker to run through for the 50, no need for Invincible (2nd or 4th diff is generally better since you'll be AOE orientated anyway)
  22. Too early for me I'm afraid, at that point I'm still talking about hungry caterpillars and having mashed potato thrown at me.

(note to self : Ask girlfriend not to do that)

Hope you all have a good night though!
  23. Hang on. Isn't there some option to turn off extra FX from other players?

I remember seeing it last week when I was turning Bloom and my Particle Count down for my WS (stupid excess fluffyness).

    [ QUOTE ]
People in general seem oblivious to this. The amount of times on PuGs we've been safely but slowly grinding through reds and purples. People never seem to grasp the idea that its faster to fly through whites, yellows and oranges and the XP rate is better, especially if you're AOE orientated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yea iv never understood why people want to turn every mission into an epic if all they want is fast xp either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    There's epic and there's boring slog-fest.

The worst offenders seem to be in the teens / 20s where you might survive ok but low team damage means it takes AAAAGES to kill everything.

Once you hit the 30s I'm fine with turning the difficultly up to 11, you've got the tools to make it interesting (and hopefully a few ADD pets triggering additional groups to make it extra-interesting).
