I wouldnt mind betting that it comes out around the second week in November, funnily enough, thats coincides with Wrath of the Lich King, the WoW expansion.
[/ QUOTE ]
First off, no matter how much people like to think it, or compare them, WoW and CoX are not in any form of competition. They are massively different, in different genres, of different play styles, and if NC are sheduling thier releases based on WoW (and WAR for that matter) then they are being very thick. And, frankly, I don't think they are.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd completely disagree on this, based on the popularity of the WAR thread, how many people are indeed currently trying it out and on your own previous actions where you left CoX for a long period of time to play WoW and LOTR.
Just because 2 things are different genres doesn't mean in any way that they aren't competing for an overlapping pool of potential players. There are plenty of CoX players who are or used to be WoW, LOTR or WAR players too.
I would agree that I don't think NCSofts announcement is based on any other MMOs schedule, its more based on their own internal one and its overrun. -
[ QUOTE ]
I would, but Cynic might object to it and I don't want to angry him.
I stopped playing for a week to "enjoy" SPORE... when I got to the space age and played for about 3 days, that was it: game done.
Now I'm trying to get my Khelds to 50 so I can put them behind me and pretend like they never happened. Argh comes to mind when I think of my Khelds.
[/ QUOTE ]
You don't HAVE to play Khelds you know
There are cryptic allusions from Castle that Khelds are getting an i13 look-at in the tweaks to powers by the way.
[ QUOTE ]
Anybody that plays CoX and tries WAR - i doubt they will leave CoX entirely - not a good enough substitue at the moment
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with this. I'm having quite a bit of fun with WAR at the moment. especially in the RvR thingies (although I suck) but I prefer CoHs PvE game, its far better. Plus getting around is waaay more fun in CoH. -

What the heck is Castle doing in the costumes department? Wasn't that Sexy Jay's niche/nest/pigsty?

I hope soneone evicted him after the crazy idea of having a set of boxing gears as a vet reward.

I earned them last week!
Never has the excitement of getting New Stoof been so quickly quashed -
Oooh, the Merits system includes story arcs as well as TFs?
Excellent!

I'm expecting more big news on the horizon.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not. No point. I'm expecting news over the horizon and somewhat out of sight over the hill.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well apparently there's i13 news sometime today according to a vague post by Lighthouse last night.
Although I dunno if that means tomorrow for us or what? -

Makes me happy that in our game we don't have to speak old style gaelic or something.

That's about as much as anyone over here can manage, any lines more complex than "See Spot run" is beyond most Irish people -

With a cameo by Nemesis Rex? Mmm steampunk dinosaurs...
[/ QUOTE ]
I fully endorse any steampunk dinosaurs ingame.
Better than bloody Romans. I think they're getting their ideas from old episodes of Star Trek at the moment, so next up its either Nazi Germany, a planet of wobbly rocks with blobby energy things or some green alien chicks who try to cop off with you.
I vote for the latter. -
[ QUOTE ]
It just all the gamers running off the shiney new WAR. They'll be back once the gloss wears off. The same ebb and flow happens whenever a new MMO goes live.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of course Wrath of the Lich King comes out after that, so don't expect people back too soon, especially with Posi admitting i13 is having a few problems at the moment (probably because the team expanded a bit quickly). -
Use wired.
Or get rid of the fisher-price router NTL give you. They're terrible (i'm on the same set-up, but use the Wired connection for playing online games).
The USB dongle thingies aren't the best either. -

And just as a tip of the iceberg the US launch window looks like it has had more effort put into it. I know this may not be a big deal to any of the people playing the game, but it just helps me to sink into the immersion which you have quoted. I know that this is not a major thing, but still I felt that it was worth noting.
[/ QUOTE ]
The US don't need to localise into three languages... While I'd love to utilise images for some things in our EU launcher, it simply isn't viable on a day-to-day basis.
Edit: on-topic of anchors ... I usually solo with my /dark MM and I rarely ever use the anchor, as I simply don't need it. When I do, however, it goes on the boss - purely because I've found that for me, it's more effective to wipe away the minions first and then concentrate on the boss. When I team, I hardly ever use the anchor. Stuff just dies too darn fast for it to be worth the effort.
[/ QUOTE ]
How are you going to aggro the map on PuGs with that approach.
Darkest Night of a lieut > Howling Twilight to get him running off looking for new friends (HT causes the annoying sort of Fear) > Profit (or Death)
Usually profit really. My Necro/Dark Mastermind loves seeing a Add group heading his way...
*Edit : Cynic has it exactly right, although I like doing it on Teams too for giggles. -

Nothing really new announced there.
Wonder if / when anything new for i13 will be announced? Turning out to be a long and rather boring wait so far after being promised so much awesomeness by the new expanded Dev team, I'm starting to wonder did they expand too fast and are now being slowed by trying to integrate the new people in?
[/ QUOTE ]
they will tell us more in time, they did first say tht, so what has been relased alrdy is only a little bit/half of i13 and more is to be told soon. alot ppl think what they have told us is everything, when its not
[/ QUOTE ]
*hands End some extra vowels*
I know that, they said that about 3 weeks ago and nada since.
Get a move on NCNC. These boards have been rather dead for a while now, we need something (other than "Hey hey, we're firing half the EU team!") to liven them up a bit.
There's also quite a few other, non-i13 things which still haven't materialized, notably the new boards and the other web features whose Option settings have in ingame for over 6 months for no reason now.
Really the web development team needs to get the finger out too. -

There aren't that many powers that use anchors, Storm Summoning has one, Cold Domination has a similar one, Dark has one, and Rad has two. Those are all I can think of off the top of my head. Given that most experienced players aren't going to worry about the anchor being killed early unless the fight is a close one, you can go quite a long while in the game without being aware of the things.
What can be an issue is if you use a knockback power on the anchor and throw it into an unaggroed spawn, it will cause them all to aggro on the source of the anchored power.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or if you lose track of the anchoree and only realise they've just fled off down a corridor making you lots of new friends while you weren't looking. That's always fun. -

This is how I'll be referring to it anyway. -

Print screen works at the character selection screen for me (just assumed it would for everyone else)
[/ QUOTE ]
I did it years ago too, pretty sure I used Print Screen too and the screenies ended up in the Screenshots folder.
That was about 2 or 3 years ago so I'm not too sure. -
For image pasting and editing the Gimp is pretty good and totally free.

I'm of the opinion the green glow attracts the other heroes, like moths to a flame
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoa there.. You saying that the green glow is not the game telling me which one to attack? Suddenly it all becomes clear why rads hate me so much.
[/ QUOTE ]
No No NO.... read the rest of the post, we don't HATE you we love you, you grab the Agro that would otherwise squish us!

My Darks hate you
It's not even like the toggle is even shiney or anything!!!
Who's scared of a bit of aggro when they're all quivering in fear, lost in swirling darkness and standing next to fluffy? -
Recently a PuG on villains made up of a Crab Soldier, a Night Widow, 2 brutes, my Necro/Dark MM, a Robotics/Traps MM, a Fire dom and a Kinetics/Dark corrupter.
Steamrolled everything in our way, everything was red and purple to me and most of my teammates (think the leading Crab was 37 on Invinc, I was 36).
Just a really nice spread of ATs which all seemed to compliment each other really well (and were played well). -
[ QUOTE ]
With Oil Slick arrow the rest of the team aint needed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't be silly PRAF!
How else are you going to get the spawn sizes up? -
[ QUOTE ]
Its all good and well saying spread the debuffs around but it takes time to do i that way when you could be doing other things, and most of the time, the mob dies before you get all the debuffs active anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then the team doesn't really need them.
Sad to say with a lot of the support sets but on Steamrolling teams you don't really need to bother with too many of the debuffs. My Grav/TA doesn't bother with too many pointy sticks on a steamrolling team, things like Oil Slick Arrow aren't needed. -

[ QUOTE ]
If you think applying shields every 4 minutes is stressful, then stay away from /Rad (and /Dark, for that matter). Having you anchors killed is far more annoying than buffing a team.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ye gods its not. Having been a Kinetics I've found buffing is far more tedious.
At least not in the case of Dark and Storm. Rad there's 2 of them so maybe, but to be honest its not that much work to reapply. And if things are dying you only really need to reapply Enervating Field.
In Darks case most of em will be Fearsome Stared and Tar Patched, so you don't need Darkest Night too much later in a fight usually. Snow Storm doesn't really need too much reapplying, its not that important of a debuff. And always slap the anchor powers on the Lieut (not the boss) at the back of a spawn, not the first or second chap you tab onto. They stay standing much longer if you do that since everyone else on your team will be using Control-tab as well.
You can never, ever have too much -res IMO. With Sonic focus-fire on the Boss / Elite Boss / AV. -
Re-reading the OP I don't see what you could have done there to "help the n00b player", he left before anyone could say anything.
Still, he wasn't as big a n00b as the Villain teammate I had ages ago in a PuG who insisted his Fire Doms Smoke target was "an anchor", announced it every spawn and left spitting bile and vitrol because we kept killing it and telling him Smoke isn't an anchor power.
