No. A construction worker

Now we just need a cop, an army guy, cowboy and a few others...

Cop:

Sorry, it's just so relevant to your comment I had to post it.
[/ QUOTE ]
"By day he's a big camp cop"
"But by night he's the all powerful (and still camp) Viking Warrior Olaf Villagepeoplesson" -
[ QUOTE ]
Sorry, I thought we wher talking about Mako, my mistake. Crushing Impact is dirt cheep, i don;'t know what you are worring about.
As Standoff says, you get more benefit from frankenslotting anyway, and you don't need expensive sets for that.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's true. Frankenslotted my MM's fluffy with 4 ToHit debuff/Recharge IOs (well 2 of em and 2 -ToHit/Recharge/End) for very little yesterday. 4 slots and have a perma Dark Servant who floors ToHit and casts his powers almost twice as fast as normal for under 1 million for all 4.
I'm sure some people would 5 slot him for the Recharge bonus but in terms of Fluffies usefulness 1 acc and that Frankenslotting is far, far superior to me than a tiny little bit extra recharge (which my MM would have bugger all to do anyway). -

Myth.
Farming does not produce drops at the same rate as inf.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also things like Pool Cs aren't generated by day to day farming, only things like Katie Run farms (and even then the most coveted items are very unlikely to make it to the Auction House). -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes. Crushing Impact gives better enhancemnt bonuses than Mako's Bite, and costs much less.
[/ QUOTE ]
Who brought up Mako's Bite?

2- Use cheaper enhancements: common IOs, SOs. This way, your second build will be effectively less powerful than the first, and the resulting feeling will be... disappointment.
[/ QUOTE ]
The effect of IO sets is so small you would be pushed to notice any difference.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't agree.
The difference of having or not having five Crushing Impact sets slotted is 25% recharge and 35% accuracy. Definitely I would notice that in my SS/Electric brute.
Knockback protection and stealth are obviously noticeable too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even more obscure and singly small bonuses, like Recovery bonuses, are noticable. For example my Grav/TA omits the Fitness pool because he's got 22.5% recovery from sets (with no impact on Enhancement values).
Having 3 extra power choices available is pretty noticable. -

City of Farming, what else?
[/ QUOTE ]
Its been that for some time, you might as well get over it
[/ QUOTE ]
Well that's not really true. I've never farmed for anything ever and have loads of IOs in my various toons.
I don't have the silly expensive ones (a Performance Shifter & Forced Feedback in my Fire/Rad are probably the dearest) I just play the game and frankenslot a lot.
Uber kit is overrated in any game really. Diablo 2 taught me that.
But I am really looking forward to merits in story arcs. -
[ QUOTE ]
Do Striga arc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, its in the second arc in Striga, the chap in the graveyard gives it to you in his 2nd or 3rd mish (clear out a load of banished from a mausoleum, which actually turns out to be a tunnel map).
They should have flipped the Undead Slaying Axe model into a chainsaw for the duration of the event IMO. -
Weird, Mercs / Storm seems like a decent match to me, all ranged pets + hurricane and AOE immobs + Freezing Rain and Tornado.
They were what I was tempted to remake the Bots/Storm I started in the US into (The bots are way too big and annoying). But I've put that toon on hiatus anyway while I try and level my Necro/Dark to 50. And after reading up on the Mercs powers I'm sorta glad I haven't started em. -
[ QUOTE ]
defintely having a LFG channel more easily acessible would be nice. (i'm still getitng used to the global channel tbh!)
However, the LFG channel would be much better if , when you logged in you also had access to the past 10 minutes of text in the channel.
or....
the city terminals (or whatever similar in CoV) had a facility to show groups advertising for members, TFs being organised, players looking for groups etc. like an online noticeboard. Not that I have suggested this before.....
[/ QUOTE ]
It should simply be the way WAR does it. A button you click which shows all the open teams looking for members and gives their composition, what they're doing and how far away from you they are, along with any notes.
Making it attached to anything you have to run to to view decreases the usefulness IMO. -
[ QUOTE ]
For me it will all depend on how you can switch between them. If you can switch at will, then there will be lots of fun things you could do. If you have to visit a trainer, and pay to switch (something I can see being likely) then I might use it for one or two toons that randomly get used for PvP.
If its easy to change, then I'de probs have builds for soloing and teaming, or a build for use in low level TFs and one for higher level TFs.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's at the trainer, but I don't think there's a cost associated.
Reckon I'll give Carni a TF build too for certain TFs (Sup Invis, Steamy Mist and TP for Ghosting & getting people to the end of missions, O2 Boost for the LGTF and so forth). -
[ QUOTE ]
Considering all the PvE elements in PvP zones, I'd hope they plan to 'rebalance' the mobs in those zones as well. Otherwise there are going to be some very unhappy players. That rebalancing will need to be done manually, of course, since the mob powers are independent of the PC ones...
[/ QUOTE ]
Castle has already stated that the PvE elements in the PvP zones will get harder because of these changes, so it looks like your hopes are going unanswered.
Not sure if he includes Mission instances accessed from PvP zones in that statement or its just zonal PvE content.

Woah, I never knew the Mercs crowd control powers sucked so badly.
And I'm guessing the Special Ops aren't bright enough not to stack the mez abilities on top of each other? So you end up with both of them mezzing the same target with the both abilities? -

Playing in the night is a nightmare on EU.
[/ QUOTE ]
In the night? What part of the night?
There's a BIG difference between say, 8pm and 2am.
[/ QUOTE ]
I call 8pm 'evening', so i should refer to 'midnight' (2-3am).
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah-ha.
Well no wonder the US seems so shiney to you so, you're comparing the time most EU people are asleep in bed with prime-time on the US servers. Using that example yes, you are far better off on the US servers, most EU people are gone to bed by then, especially during the week.
But its wrong to then assume that the EU servers are dead, just because you don't see many people playing in what is a non-peak time over here.
That's also the same reason I stopped playing in the US. 8pm over here (my play time, along with the majority of the EU) = Back From School time over there, hence the Car Crash teams I was getting constantly over there. -
So what are peoples plans with multi-builds?
I think my WS will be given a Tank + Control orientated dual form build (Human/Lobster) although I worry then that I'll just become the pseudo-tank. It'll probably depend on what changes Castle makes to Human form too though.
Might be interesting to make a Follower of Fallout build for my Fire/Rad controller if I could squeeze in Vengence as well. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sometimes you get lucky. Other times you wont get a team no matter how hard you try. Even on Primetime. Thats why I use toons that are fun to play even when I am alone. On Def that means EVERY toon on Union I take more chances.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think NCEU should give every account another free Change of Server token so if people want to relocate Support toons to the busier server they can do it without being expected to pay for it.
*Edit : WARs system of "These are the teams currently open and looking for members" is really overdue here too, it'd be a life saver. BaBs talked about it before, hopefully the Devs have seen how well it works in WAR and are on the case. -
I've been getting teams whenever I log on recently, Union Villain, high 30s. Even last night when WAR was laggy I jumped on to solo for a bit but stuck the LFT flag on. 5 mins later got a tell and joined a great little team. 5 of us altogether, tearing through +3s and no deaths (well I died but that was my own fault for letting the zombies off their leash).
So I've found it very easy to get teams on Union recently. But I have basically given up on Defiant. -

[ QUOTE ]
Sinergy_X - If you cannot be bothered about making a team, don't complain about not getting a team. What if everyone's like you?
Empath's are fine, it's your own personal perception that's flawed as others have echoed in this thread.
(Also yes US PuG's can be hilariously bad).
[/ QUOTE ]
You do reflect my previous post just perfectly.
Post below you pretty much explains it
[/ QUOTE ]
Well enjoy the US so, hope you have a great time over there. As I said I found it to be one long exasperating PuG Car Crash a lot of the time, but I was purely PuGing, no SG or anything.
Once I'm bored with WAR I may restart the sub but for the moment I'm having more fun this side with my Warshade, or my MM when I want to solo (although my MM is actually getting lots of PuGs at the mo). -
To be honest I'd be surprised if it lets you flick between the two "paths" of a Soldier or Widow. It's not really in keeping with the spirit of the system as well : I can see it letting you flick between say an AOE Monster Crab or a more Defensive and Support Crab Build, but not between a Crab and a Bane.

I love my empath he's primarily a buffer but always keeping an eye on those HP bars found it really interesting when teamed with m8's WS Fort+AB+CM he could have 3 Extracted essence and be in nova without worry bring forth purple death
[/ QUOTE ]
Empaths are a Warshades best friend! I've discovered this recently from the WS's point of view. -
I rarely come across PuG members repeatedly this side, every night it always seems to be a different bunch of people.
In any case I almost always find PuGs better this side of the pond. I just cancelled my states-side subscription because I was fed up of car crash teams and teaming with l33t talking idiots. for some reason as well half the team leaders over there seem to think you can't start a mission with less than 8 men, even if it means hanging around for 10 minutes calling for one. -
I'm not surprised the US side try to keep their Empathy defenders more than here. Given the Car Crash quality of half the PuGs I joined over there its not surprising there'd be plenty of demand for em.

Quick Q: if you stick this into an AoE debuff, does it apply to every possible targer or just the anchor?
[/ QUOTE ]
Every target. So its fairly good in something like Radiation Infection. Every 10 seconds it will run the PROC check on everyone in its AOE. -
Oh, on this
[ QUOTE ]
and the marketting department
[/ QUOTE ]
This is 100% wrong IMO, only a poor marketing person would base their plan of action on one measurement (how many Subscriptions are currently active). A good one will look at how the product is perceived and used as well as how much Sales are going on. Stuff like what people are saying on boards, in media and so on, and figures for on people are using the product they are paying for, whether it be numbers of concurrent users, how often / long they use the product and what they do when ingame. -
[ QUOTE ]
Fair, but the subscription levels are what the accountants look at, and the marketting department, and the gaming magazines...
[/ QUOTE ]
But not the player base really, they look at how active the game seems to be to them, and base their opinions on that. At least that's how I read the "Merge the Servers now" threads and their ilk. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
based on the popularity of the WAR thread
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm, yeah, popularity of the WAR thread. So that would be people who either are interested in WAR, but haven't bought it, or have subscriptions to both games, yes? Can't post here without a subscription...
My point is that a lot of people can afford to run a couple of subscriptions at once and CoX is a fairly casual game to play. Hell, I can't afford it and I haven't killed my WoW subscription to come back here. (I'd possibly have gone with WAR myself if I'd never played the RPG. I think I'll be badly dissapointed if I go try the online version.)
[ QUOTE ]
There are plenty of CoX players who are or used to be WoW, LOTR or WAR players too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mmhmm, but you aren't actually stating anything that puts them in competition. I went to LotRO from CoX, but I closed down my CoX account not because I was playing LotRO, but because I was not playing CoX.
[/ QUOTE ]
Playing time is a finite resource (at least it is for me) so that's where the competition arises. I'm currently not playing CoX because I'm playing WAR.
That's assuming the Devs care about active server population rather than just subs of course (which I would, I'd consider active server population and playtime a more reliable metric than subscription levels. You want people playing your game rather than another one).
