Duel pistols for tankers have higher priority, or so i've heard.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Eh?

    What?

And other one-word sentences indicating confusion...

Why on earth would Tankers (a) get a ranged set (b) get yet another set at all
  2. [ QUOTE ]
I had a mission from one of those mage types; and it had portals that spawned demons. I tried to destroy the portal with my MM, but I died before I was able to destroy the portal. When I came back the room was filled with them; again trying to destroy the portal and got killed again. By then I counted roughly around 50 demons in one room; mission failed after time ran out (one hour). Think I died about 10-12 times trying to kill them all. So in response to the OP; yeah I would have tried to kill them all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Normally you can ignore Portal Rooms though, they don't count towards objectives.

Good XP but the recent changes to Behemoths so they use the old style Inv toggle means they can be evil for MMs with almost capped defenses.
  3. Give us alternate models for our Henchmen. For example Necro could get Banished models (or varients thereof), Vash models and the current models. Mercs could get Council and Malta varients. Bots could have Nemises and Clockwork alternatives. Ninjas could have Tsoo and... erm, pirates or something.

Or fully editable henchies alternatively of course. That'd be cool too.
  4. I'd be well up for this. The last one was a great laugh. Even the Sunday morning I'd to get up early and was horribly violated by Psygons Tornado over and over again (although I suppose its a bit cheeky for an Illusion/Storm to be giving out about Tornado).
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Earth/storm, the set that does pretty much the lowest damage at earlier lvls Grav ill or fire would have been a better choice.

But your story is pretty much the exact opposite of how i think about CoH/CoV

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not Grav, its quite painful to solo IMO. Sure the single target damage is high for a controller, but its still fairly useless compared to a Blaster or Scrapper. Gravs control is a bit late blooming as well.

Illusion/Storm is quite fun and messy and can solo fairly well. Fire/Rad solos even better IMO, its more consistant than Illusion/Storm, but is more focused towards lots of weak opponents (Illusions PAs do better vs fewer targets). Both are excellent on teams (although there's more opportunity to annoy people with Illusion/Storm, and more opportunity for people to annoy you by killing your anchors with Fire/Rad).

I've also got a Dark/Sonic defender, she can solo but even with her its fairly slow (but safe).
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I went with earth on mine for earths embrace, currently 42. Also fissure is so much fun, STOMP. Just wish it would stun more often.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Earths Embrace is a bit slow to be using as a heal though I find. Fissure is fantastic, but I think better in a toon who can Contain the damage (Earth is a dream set for my Fire/Rad for example, suits him down to the ground. Ahem).

For me there was no contest. Hibernate is probably the best power a pet heavy, heal-less, End heavy toon could ask for. Hibernate up while all your pets are blasting, debuffing and mezzing your enemies to quickly regain all the Endurance and Health you were missing. Or if you've an ambush headed your way stick Spectral out along with Tornado and Hibernate up to absorb it easily. Then queue up Hurricane and when Hib drops everything has its ToHit debuffed and are blown backwards. Lovely! Or if the PAs are about to drop stick Hibernate on just as they do and watch the Elite Boss waste his attacks on you (saved me vs Nemesis?)

Ice Storm works well with Freezing Rain as well (Ice Storm is less useful on Containment too, its only 50%), takes a while to drop all the damage but its great on masses and masses of enemies.

Ice Blast is fine, gives you a proper single target attack chain. Nothing wonderful about it but a solid addition to your Blind > Spectral Wounds chain.

They will continue to be such. Novelty AT that gets invited to teams out of pity. Until the CYST turns up and the team breaks up or they force the pb to change toons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps useless to you, but that might just be down to build or play style. Personally, my triform PB steamrolls through pretty much ALL mobs, only slowing down a little for EB's and Malta sappers. Dwarf form is FAR from useless either. I can quite happily tank AV's as long as there's an empath around to throw a heal at me every once in a while.

TBH, your comment about Cysts is kind of telling. I don't have ANY problems dealing with those things, and usually solo the buggers even when teaming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Come on. When fighting +2 or +3 missions with a cyst next to an AV????? You may have no problem but that doesnt mean your team wont.

Dwarf is poor. After 35 they cant come anywhere close to a tanker on practically any level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok. I completely and utterly disagree with that statement. My SG Leader plays a tanking PB for all of our SG TFs (Lady Greys was the last I did) and he honestly outtanks most tanks I've teamed with on him.

Plus, what Tank can decide to go into God mode in order to AOE nuke a spawn whenever they feel like it? Or, if another tank joins the team, can decide to become a blapper or floating blaster thingy?

    [ QUOTE ]

TBH, I wish people would stop comparing them to the other AT's. They're nothing like them, and were never MEANT to be anything like them. You don't see anywhere NEAR as much comparison with the VEATs, so why do people keep doing it to the HEATs? Treat them as a unique AT instead of comparing them to others, and maybe, just maybe, you'll figure out how to actually PLAY them.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is totally true. It always seems to be something on the Hero side too, Villains are much more flexible in their roles and people never seem to have issues with it. But for Khelds there's always the "Can't tank as well as a tank, can't blast as well as a Blaster" line.

They can do almost as well [u]AT BOTH[u]. Often within seconds of each other!

    Timed Missions

    [ QUOTE ]

Honestly, if this worries you, then I assume you never take instanced missions due to the frustration of having to restart them all the time due to interruptions.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If that happens to me I always use the auto-complete feature to complete them next time I log in. It's less dull that way.

Even when they orgnise a special PvP event 90% of the player base aren't interested.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So what? that is relevant how? This game is developed in the US for the US playerbase. 10% of the US playerbase cant be far short of total eu players.
And now they are changing the powers system so finally the endless crying of pvp ruining the game can finally stop. Justifiably so in some cases and others just hysteria.

PvP IS an element of this game and I dont see why people who dont like it start jeering and carping about any mention of it. What about all the other broken elements of the game? 100% of the playerbase completely ignore the shadow shards yet you dont start crying about them? All that development time wasted on a huge white elephant.

And I think I am justified in wanting at least some pvp capacity for the hero epics as some of the VEATs seem specifically designed to perform excellently in PvP. Why else do they have such huge amounts of mez protection and resistance?

    [/ QUOTE ]

PBs can PvP, in fact they just got several boosts in that regard since their damage just got upped and they can switch to Dwarf form from human even while mezzed (there's your VEAT mez protection matched, or surpassed, right there).

Plus Castle has just announced the PvP / PvE seperation thing for powers, so no-one can realistically state that they aren't doing anything for PvP.

Warshades might be a different kettle au poisson, but its not like Crab Spiders are particularly well designed for PvP either from what I can see.
  10. MMs have the lowest health in the game. So that's normal.

Of course with BG mode on and pets absorbing 70% of that damage you end up being able to take about 2700 hps worth of damage if you can keep the pets standing.

A Masterminds toughness comes from BG mode and/or letting Pets absorb the alpha and healing or resummoning them. That's what they're for (especially tier ones )

If the mission is so important and you fail due to crash or RL impedance etc, you can always redo via Ouroboros

    [/ QUOTE ]

Assuming, of course, that it is available via...

I guess it depends what you mean by important. There's rarely anything important attached to timed missions, and there's no real penalty for failure in this game, aside from not getting the mission bonus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You occasionally get "rewarded" with a big ambush for failing a mish.

I'd great fun doing a "woo-woo-woo-woo-whoop" runner across Bricks chased by a load of Crey one day after logging in & failing a timed mission that was annoying me. Idiots fell for the old Syndicate Ambush trick of me waiting around a corner for them with all my powers ready to go.

Nice to see Gaming AI has moved on so much in the last 15 years
  12. For Warshades it does highlight how silly their inherent is compared to PBs.

I was on a team with 4 blasters before. The last thing we needed was extra damage. Ditto, if I'm on a team with 2 tanks I'm probably not going to need some extra resistance so much (it'll be nice on Nova sure but the Tanks should be absorbing any extra aggro anyway so I shouldn't need it)

The PBs inherent makes more sense in terms of "fitting into the team" than the WS one (but the WS does get double mires, which are always good!)

I'll be sticking to my tri-form build, the "snap into dwarf form" you'll be able to do makes it even more viable. With a secondary build of Human/Dwarf focussed on survivablity for tanking tough missions.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
My only concern with these changes is that it pushes Khelds quite close to the dreaded "TankMage" label, and thus might get nerfed a bit...

I don't want them to nerf these changes... I *LIKE* these changes!

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's been Tankmages running around CoV since day 0 and no-one seems to mind in the Dev team (MMs). In fact they buffed them into proper Tankmages with BG Mode instead.
  14. Level 35s onwards generally. Level 35+ enhancements that is, although I'll go as low as 30, especially for ones enhancing 3 things,
  15. As a sweeping generalisation the things that are the best for Frankenslotting are those with mostly useless set bonuses. They'll also be the cheapest generally, although if they've got a good PROC or Unique in the set they tend to be more expensive as well.

Obviously some things like Acc/Dam or Dam/Recharge are also going to be in higher demand, but try looking at different levels of them too (fairly quick to do) as you'd be amazed how much they can flucuate over 2 or 3 levels for no apparent reason.
  16. Astronomical? What are you trying to buy?

There's loads of cheap ones about, I spent between 10 and 100k on about 10 of them last night Frankenslotting my MM (Pet Damage, ToHit Debuff and Heal ones for the most part with Common IOs shoring up the stats).

    They were all level 35-42ish.

As for the slots and respec issue, can't really help. I always respec at 27 and 32 just to recycle the SOs and I tend to rejig the slots to reflect the fact they're about to be IOd at 32.

What AT are you and what sets are you looking at?

    Timed Missions

    [ QUOTE ]
If anything on timed missions I'd like to see the amount of time you have to complete them lowered, maybe as muched as half.

For most of them anyway there seems to be far too much time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except that ridiculous one where you've only got 5 minutes or something, its a Praetorian robots one I think.

I've actually successfully completed that in the past though (through the team ghosting it)

So, basically, if you can't attend an event (for whatever reason) and don't fancy doing a PvP based event of any sort then you've got no real chance of getting one? Hmm.

Well I for one will be doing a 15 minute tear-filled rant on Youtube later today.

I wasn't looking to discuss Sg policies, I was wanting to know if I was right to be [censored] off at getting kicked from a long standing SG because I was farming for Influence alone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It depends.

Anyway if you "never heard from" them anyway what's the problem? You don't seem to interact with them in any way so what difference does it make if they kicked you or not? Maybe the fact none of you ever interacted is telling in itself?

Most SGs I've been in use the 30-something rule but they don't have too.

I left an SG before over a Prestige issue before, but in my case it was more how the SG calculated rankings based on Prestige earnings than anything else (they used just your highest ranked toon in the SG, which I felt was unfair on my chronic altisis).

No hard feelings on either side, I started my own SG for that toon so I could mess with the base editor and stayed in the SG chat channel and so on.

    Level 53 Damage SO = 38.3% bonus on a level 50 hero.
    Level 50 Damage IO = 42.4% bonus.
    Level 35 Damage IO = 36.7% bonus.
    Level 40 Damage IO = 38.6% bonus.

Level 40 Damage IO, and about 4% absolute difference in bonus, assuming only one IO (since even 2 will be subject to ED scaling).

    [/ QUOTE ]
But 4% is 10% of 38% (ish) so what Gaias was saying is correct.

Level 50 IOs give you a 10% benefit over a 53 SO, before ED kicks in.

TBH I'm fed up off GR's double standards, this is a discussion forum, and I am discussing this particular SG.

No names have been given, and I'd rather get back on topic that worry about anyone getting into a hissy fit about regulations.

Nothing against you Carni, always appreciate hearing your views tho...

    [/ QUOTE ]
There's no reason to name them though other than to bring shame upon them, you can have the exact same discussion by leaving their name out.

It serves no purpose to name them IMO and weakens any argument you could have about the validity of making the original post (ie : that you wanted to discuss SG policies in general. Instead it now just looks like a public attack on them).

Regardless the SG leader can set whatever rules like like about running in SG mode or not. Given that recently the Devs changed it so that you still earn some Inf even when SGed up there's now little reason not to run in SG mode, all my toons do.

    What is Frankenslotting? *confused*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Slotting with one or two bits of an IO set along with common IOs (or HOs later on) purely for the Enhancement values and not caring about the Set bonuses.

My favourite example is my Grav/TA who has EMP Arrow slotted with 4 Acc/Hold/Recharge IOs (one from each set), over 80% enhancement in 3 areas in just 4 slots.

If you cherry-pick the IOs based on their price and the price of the salvage they use you can get great enhancement values for excellent prices. Very useful, especially for anyone tight on slots like Dominators, Defender blasts or Khelds.

It's like the opposite end of the scale to those pie-in-the-sky builds one sees with weird things like Snow Storm 5 slotted with Tempered Readiness just for a 5% Recharge bonus (and most of the Enhancement values going wasted or being next to useless)
