you post ANOTHER one of these unfunny threads

When you knew it would make Xanthus type that.

And you knew that eventually it'd be diverted by some irrelevant GG waffle-tangent.

huh soothing aura is a toggle which is always on regen aura.
Nullify pain is your self heal that others can benefit from.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Mastermind / PvP version is a Regen aura.

The Corrupter version is an aura which does a heal 1/3rd of Nullify Pain every few seconds (not sure how many). Which could be annoying.

  4. So yesterday I rolled one of these for a Resevoir Dogs themed SG team and loving it so far. Normally I wouldn't be much of a one for being "teh healor" (you're all doomed by the way guys) but the amount of self-buffs in Pain combined with the AOEs and -Defense of Rad seems to be a lovely combo. Once the SG team called it a night (while I was still messing about with my cossie) ended up street hunting and on mostly Corruptor PuGs and had a ball with this combo. Nice to be a lowbie and rarely / never miss with the Vet Attacks.

Anyone got any tips for this build (there are no Pain guides for Corrupters on the US side).

    Specifically :

Which heals can I skip. Was thinking of missing Soothe since I'll have the heavier heal with the Damage self-buff (nice idea by the Devs for making it suited to a Corrupter) and the AOE heal.

Also thinking of skipping Soothing Aura as it seems a bit too close to rocking the aura to me. Still, I will be on a large team (of Brutes and Domis going by last nights team) most of the time so maybe this is worthwhile?

Since I'll be on a team, and Rad is great for the Vet attacks was also thinking of concentrating on the Rad AOEs and skipping Xray Eyes and the Snipe. Electron Haze does do some intermitent knockback but it's a decent damage very narrow cone and has a sizable Defense debuff in it so it's worth it I think.

Anyone got any other tips for this combo? Any levelling (non-set IO) builds about? It'd be nice to squeeze the Leadership pool in there too if I could for all the team buffs and a Vengie -> Conduit of Pain combo but not sure if I can fit it all in.

I believe the marker is at what? 40% of bar for the cellphone number?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It varies with the contact Mumsie. There are some CoV contacts who give it after mish one (that little white bar is very very close to the start)

...and then you've got Faathim the Kind, who gives you his phone number 1 mission from the end (in a 20 or so Mission TF).

/Signed from me, better than nothing for 45 month, and a nice QoL feature

I Have been rather put down at starting my Gravity Controller. I didn't really research the build, but i went none the less because it sounded cool. But most people have just claimed how [censored] they are.

Anyone want to cheer me up by posting benefits for a Grav Troller?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1) You can throw toilets at people

    2) See 1

Seriously Grav is fine on Controllers (Doms is a different story though), sacrificing some early control for some good single-target damage (via the slow firing but hard hitting and always amusing Propel and the lowish damage but usefully soft controlling Lift). With Containment giving you double damage for foes Immobilised, Held, Stunned or Slept you go through a "Lock Down then clobber" playstyle for a while.

It's also a pure ranged Controller which gels well with some secondaries (Storm and Trick Arrow, and suits Empathy and Thermal well too since you don't really want to be in melee if you can help it).

It lacks AOE control until the twenties, Gravity Distortion Field is your ranged AOE Hold but it needs lots of slots (or IOs later on) to really shine. Wormhole is a super power, especially solo, but has it's quirks (annoying smaller AOE than other AOE mezzes, takes 2 seconds to trigger and things will shoot at you, countered nicely by the fact you don't need to be in line of sight of the enemies to fire it off). But if you leverage Wormhole by using it's power to reposition & mez with a secondary like TA or Storm you can do some evil things to spawns, hauling them out of Room of Death into a corner, immobisiling them and dumping 3 or 4 AOE debuffs onto them (Wormhole -> Crushing Field -> Freezing Rain -> Hurricane is a fav for Grav/Storm. Wormhole -> Crushing Field -> Oil Slick -> Disruption Arrow -> Suitable oil slick lighting power for Grav/TA, possibly my favourite attack chain in the game, especially once you get good at wormholing Spawn A into Spawn B and lighting the lot of them all up).

You also get one of the best behaved and useful pets in the game in Singy. He won't win any personality contests (ie he isn't like the ADD imps who run around like Red Bull fuelled 6 year olds, the slightly forgetful Phantasm who often knocks someone out of range and promptly forgets he was fighting them or the plain borked Flytrap), Singy is generally excellently well behaved and doesn't do great damage but he's tough as old boots (can be buffed somewhat, can't be healed) and a great mini-controller.

The reason I say Grav Dominators aren't as good is simply that all Domis get a secondary which does single target damage, so Gravities early main strength is wasted on them.

    Earnable Respec

The Exemp system shows that the game does remember at what levels your character got powers at, but not slots. So for a "reslottification" it shouldn't be too fiendish to implement.

I've got to also go against anyone saying Mids is good enough to tell you how your character will play with different slots. Mids is great and all but it really doesn't compare to trying something out ingame. For example my Staminaless Grav/TA build, I had little idea how that would work even with a full mids build. Or how bad an idea a PROC in Ice Arrow really is.

Yea, stop looking at numbers and play for fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Quoted for truth.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But some of us find numbers fun. As a wise old 80s sitcom once said "The world don't move to the beat of just one drum".

Sonics strength is in making numbers from other sources better. This may play to Defenders better than Blasters but on a Blaster it's still a decent set, especially when you leverage it (by picking a strong blapping set to complement it).

Also NWN OC can't be boring... one word for you... Aribeth. Hmm well Sharwyn and Tomi, too. Well and Valen...

    Yeah Moms... Obsidian! Bah!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Remember they are the reincarnation of Black Isle and thus responsible for quite a bit of Baldurs Gate 2 as well (not the technical side though thankfully!).

But NWN 1 Bioware spent so long designing a "make your own adventure" system they forgot to add a decent OC (although it got better once you got out of "explore each city zone" phase and into the proper action). And the first expansion is fairly rubbish as well.

    Hordes was great though.

I loved NWN2 as well, enjoyed the campaign far more than the first one (which is a snorefest). Was replaying it right up until a critical NPC vanished and left me stranded. Bah!

Bought the first expansion too but the framerate was so awful I didn't even manage to try it out (stupid thing). Dunno what Obsidian did to the graphics engine, it's truely rubbish.

About the Nova form and End Mod. 2 slotted with +3 SOs youll be getting 0.2 more end per second, 12 end per minute. Thats less than one use of Nova Detonation. Youre better off slotting end redux in attacks because you will save end every time you use them, even if you drop to Human after just one blast of Nova AoE.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Excellent advice.

The inbuilt mini-stamina in either of the forms is purely to cover the toggle cost and IMHO is not worth enhancing as it just isn't good enough. One EndRdx is detonation will likely save you 5 times as much end per minute.

    [/ QUOTE ]

AH didnt know this. in that case ill prop stick nova as fly then n slot my other powers with end redx

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Performance Shifter +End PROC is nice here, it basically equates to half the power of Stamina for slotting one IO. Costs about 12-14 mill to get together. Since it's a PROC it will fire off randomly every 10 seconds and give you a chunk of End.

I have mine in Lobster, since I get "stuck" in that form scrapping away more but could be useful to you.

Can I just ask why being able to recycle set IOs more cheaply/easily is a bad thing? I'm not understanding the reasoning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Me neither.

I'd be all for a re-earnable "Slot respec". Hell it'd be less annoying for me than the current one which forces me to repick my powers when all I want to do is juggle some slots about and take out some older IOs (which could go back onto the market).
  23. The pet recharge changes I guess. I will have to use it to respec my mastermind to remove some IOs from pets.

    Bored Phase

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm currently going through a bored phase too... Have been for a few weeks now in fact... Hell, even my posting on the forums has dropped off a fair bit.

TBH, I'm not 100% that the release of i14 is going to get me out of it either... I need something new to play, or I need something old to be given a new coat of paint and the kiss of life applying to it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm in the same boat too and a bit stuck. Test occupied me for a bit last week but I've gotten bored of it already (always the danger when trying something on Test).

I've retried WAR over the last few weeks too and I've gotten bored of that again (terrible framerate means the PvP isn't much fun at all and the Tier 2 stuff is so like Tier 1 I couldn't face it).

Dawn of War 2 is shiney but dreadfully dull, the single player campaign is awfully repetitive, they made a complete mess of it for some reason.

Bit stumped what to play really. How to be a Complete Post-Nucular B*****d in Fallout 3 maybe. I was far too nice first time around.
