Illusion Control Blind has no effect on accuracy. It never has done.

[/ QUOTE ]Technically there are no powers in the game (to my knowledge) that debuff Accuracy, but assuming you meant ToHit...

...really? Dang, goes to show what I know about Controllers. Wonder what made me miss so much when I was fighting that Illu/Mind Control AV yesterday. Must've been the parade of other customs around it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Spectral Terror? It's got an unenhancable 15% ToHit debuff in there.

Looking at City of Data it's a 15% per Fear (PBAOE Aura and a single target one) and the single target one should also self-stack on you.

Looking at those figures I see why the -ToHit is unenhancable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Also if Col is talking depending the AV (Mind/Illusion one) he faced on a mission, Terrify also has -To Hit in it and it is enhanceable. So Spectral Terror and Terrify (which he said he hit by it at least once) can take your to hit chance to crappy levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Terrify doesn't have a -ToHit any more, it was removed years ago. But the slotting still allows you to slot it for -ToHit, they just don't do anything.

Ack, my bad, shouldn't post before coffee...

It is a known phenomenon that people tend to overuse mez protection when making custom mobs, though. Ran one the other day where just about every Minion (never mind the Lieuts) had Obsidian Shield.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Think that could change if we had control over individual power selections rather than just standard/hard/extreme settings for powersets.

Sure it'd make it easier for creating farming mobs, but it'd also make it easier to make challenging-but-not-overpowered mobs to fit story concepts

    [/ QUOTE ]

How exploitable would it be if we could just "Add onto Standard" in the custom diff? Wouldn't let you make Pistol Attack only enemies or the like but it would at least let people pare off things like Mez Protection

I think that would appear somewhat contrary to the devs proud boast that you can go from 1-50 using nothing but MA if you want.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well technically you still could. You'd just have to Death Race to Steel/Talos to do so
(Ok, Atlas/Galaxy to Steel is probably the most rubbish death race ever)

That said I'd prefer locking the early MA buildings to just under level 10 rather than deleting them totally.
  5. I discovered last night I wasn't using Focus enough actually. So I switched it and Eviserate on the toolbar. Focus is just a lovely power altogether, nice damage knockdown and quick, quick animation time.

And I think it had a nerf too. What the hell was it like beforehand because it's great!

"That was a bit of shameless advertising"
    "Hey. Worked on me"
    "Me too"

Although I still haven't forgiven your AV/EB Plumber for being a big girl, fleeing around the map with Radiation Infection on and thus coming back with a few friends (and squishing me).

    And as for Wilfred...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, sure, people aren't that stupid. But the start of a new game can be overwhelming enough as it is, and if the first 10 teaming offers are all farmfills for the MA, how are they to know what else is on offer?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye. To be honest the talk in Atlas reminds me of the chat in the cities in The Other Game, I never knew what the hell others were talking about. But I wasn't brand new, I'd spent a week or so getting there. It'd be nice to move the MA Farming talk to another zone just so new people can ease into the game proper before engaging in Level 53 Rikti XP Orgies.

And JD, you're right, the per mish thing means your level 44 would be unaffected, my mistake, soz.

Simple way to stop extreme PLing. Make trainer visits mandatory before you can start earning xp towards your next level. Done.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure if this good, as i'm a terrible one for soildering on even if i level and not even cashing in my levels to really need to. I'd still like to be getting xp to my next level even tho ive still to claim ones ive got banked.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We really don't want people running off after every ding and before level 20ish I tend to ignore the odd levels entirely and only visit a trainer at the even ones. But in principle it's a good idea if it only applied after level 20 and let you earn up to 0.999999 of the next level (to stop people dinging and running off immediately).

So basically a 2 level limit (or 1.99999999) per mission after level 20 (with apologies to JD for breaking his oddball case. Make up your mind man )

    [/ QUOTE ]

stupid idea tbh. if ppl ant to pl let them. its nt harming neone as longas they dont over spam the broadcast

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *runs translator*

That's a big If though Trademark. One which simply isn't true at all. Broadcast is being spammed. New players are earning 20-30 levels in an hour.

I don't especially mind reasonable Farming and PLing at all. It's the ridiculous excesses the game has sunk to since i14 which are causing problems.

And they will hurt people like me because the Devs will end up using the Sledgehammer of Damocles on the MA in some shape or form and chances are my normal playstyle will be impacted by it.

Limiting the number of levels a person can earn in mish is more reasonable to me compared to brutally culling MA rewards in an attempt to stop the excess (and it is an excess) of farming going on in the Starting Zones.

I wonder what's in todays patch?

That said I don't expect perfect layout from a zoomed page... But this forum, for one, is usable with zooms up to 250% in my monitor. (1600*1024) Nothing is overlaid/mispaced, text reads in the correct order, no horiz scrollbar in sight.

ADD: Just where is that magic flag? Never found it, gave up on FF, thinking that their zoom doesn't zoom everything including images and flash.

    [/ QUOTE ]

View > Zoom > Zoom Text Only checkbox. It's been there since 2.5 I think. Switch it off and it works like Operas.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm a bit of a weirdo. I read this forum in Opera with the Stylesheet and images switched off. Makes it much easier to read. That's mostly because it uses Tables rather than Div tags & CSS for layout though, any more modern sites look rubbish when you switch off the CSS.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
It's great because of that. If I need zoom, that's because I don't see something clearly, and that "something" includes the whole site, not just the text, the whole site, not just the text author thinks is important, the whole site, not just... you've got the idea.

Serioussly, I don't even consider browsers that don't do that nowadays.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Firefoxes Text zoom will always adjust the font size, even if the author used pixel measurements. It just won't make the images horrible as it does so. They did it right, a wee flag which lets you flick between the two modes so you can use the one which suits you and the site best.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
I tend to use the toolbar I wrote to resize. Although there was some discussion between me and Emo about sizings. We decided that most gamers had bigger monitors so we could get away with the larger size... we were wrong

and that zoom makes the site nasty

Will have to look at a restyle to fit more usability and less menu

    [/ QUOTE ]

Opera Zoom is horrible, it zooms the Images as well rather than just adjusting the Text Size (Firefox lets you do either). One thing I really hate about Opera is the manky zoom.

Broadcast isnt the only tool to get a team.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes but new players don't really know where else to look, do they? That's kinda the point, when you start off Broadcast & the LFT flags are the standard way to get a team.

The Spam in Atlas is drowning all of that out.

IMO it would be a good idea to allow reviewers to edit their reviews and for authors to comment against reviews.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It would imo too. now we just need to get it written Seriously though it is on the cards to be able to edit your comments. There is also a bit of discussion between me and emo about allowing longer reviews as well as comments. We are also looking at replying to comments/reviews.

    [ QUOTE ]
Oh, and one other thing: will it be possible at some point to view/sort arcs by rating in the overview screen? In that case, I hope 0 gets treated as "no rating" instead of just "abysmally bad", because when I add a comment (as I just did), I obviously wouldn't wan't to rate my own arc, but I wouldn't want to bring down my average either by not doing so

    [/ QUOTE ]

ooooo-ooo a bug, you aren't supposed to be able to comment on your own arcs. Although the sort idea is not a bad idea. I like to shy away from ratings though as they are very easy to corrupt.

I am going to have to get Emo to restyle a bit as not everyone uses the huge resolutions that we do. I tried the site on another machine and realised just how much goes off screen.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tip for this, use the Firefox Web Developer toolbar and use the Resize option to try out other screen sizes. My work machine is 1600 x whatever so when I'm templating a site I use this set to 1024*768 to see how it affects more normal set-ups.

I hadn't noticed the site set-up either. I reckon you could lower the Sidebar text and narrow the sidebar. That might mean resizing the nice curvy borders though which is a bit of a pain.

How do you even manage to make such an error? Any half-way sane system uses a dynamic system to generate Date drop-downs, either on the server side or failing that using simple Javascript to populate the drop-down. It's really not hard at all.

People do it all the time. Back in 199x. 2009 seemed like a distant future, sure, there would be a few days to implement something better than that hardcoded listbox (and associated data model.) Somehow, development and support being what they are, those days are never found until it's too late. I don't say this is good, or that all teams lack foresight like that, but it happens often enough.

I tried one of those 'farming' missions yesterday, more out of boredom than anything else.Funny thing is, it was actually more fun to play than some of the 'proper' arcs I've looked at. only thing it lacked was a coherent story.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Me to was a board last night and spotted a mission called funny XP or something like that and decided what the hell i would give it a go. Was set in one of the outdoor maps with rikti communications as enemies and lots of statesman's as hostages had great fun as just a quick 30 mins of destroying everything tab would lock onto. in fact stick in more variations of rikti (i did get some monkeys if i ignored the portals) and some kind of flimsy "the rikti have invaded zone X get in there and kick there A** and it would have been really fun

One thing i did notice was that all the rikti were 53 which seemed a bit strange until i read the full mission statement and it had lvl range 53.

This would seem a good thing to sort being able to have lvl 53 minions all by them selves seems a bit of surly all mobs should have some kind of lvl range so something like 35 - 50 not just strait forward 53.

Quick solution. Remove the MA building from Atlas. That way the farmers will move to other, hopefully, less obnoxious places.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, just don't let anyone over level 10 access the Galaxy, Atlas and Mercy Isle glowie MA thingie (give a "You cannot enter" error). There are some great 1-10 arcs out there.

And remove auto-sk entirely. Ridiculous idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Remove higher level access to building...might work.
Divided on the auto-sk. For actual mid levels that would be a needless blow, but for low level farming carp, maybe...
