I have just made my Fire/fire Blaster went with the name Minakawa Kasuki in the end.
Carnifax do you want to meet up in the week and set up a lvling pact so as not to miss out if we do start next monday?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, if I'm around. Might be gone tomorrow during the day, in which case I'll catch up when I return. Otherwise I could meet tomorrow evening in Atlas if you're about.
Guy De Flambe is the name.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am on-line in Atlas now as Minakawa Kasuki and can also make tomorrow night. If you can not make it good luck with the hospital.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, got on around 9:30 after a "wipe and rebuild" of the toon by the time I finished messing about with the cossie. Had a quick search for you but you weren't online with the toon.
There's so much other interest I'd say you guys work away without me since I could miss the following Monday too if I'm still in hospital. Once I get out I can quickly catch up to whatever level you guys are at anyway using the MA if there's then a space for me.
Cossie is better now, I'm much happier with it. -

I don't mean to be a killjoy but I seen Fallout I,II the other day in the market. Is it allowed to permit access to this stuff? Just a curiousity twitch.
EDIT: Fallout 3 just got news of further 2 DLC btw for fans.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean? What do you mean "Is it permitted"?
Gog.com is a proper licensed reseller of old game, it's not a pirate site or anything if that's what you mean.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cleared it up, thanks Carnifax. Sorry I was just curious.

No worries. It's a lovely little site and a good example of what developers & publishers could be doing with their old IP.
Now I wish they'd hurry up and get Grim Fandango on there -

Yes. You'd think they've have upgraded them in all the time you were away. -

Ah but Blackadder wins just from the sheer difference it made to him between the first series and the second.
Ok the character was completely rewritten too but the beard helped!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah... He went from a weaselly backstabbing little oik to a... weaselly backstabbing little oik with a beard.
[/ QUOTE ]
He went of weaselly gormless backstabbing little oik to a weaselly, cunning backstabbing little oik which women suddenly found attractive.
I know which I'd prefer to be -

Spock did that for many of us a good time earlier.

Ha, oh well I've never been technical minded anyway. I think that both parts of the original question have pretty much been answered, I'm sure I can put up with a long loading time (might stick the kettle on for a brew while waiting) and I'll mess about with the IG settings.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bizarely, the loading times are much quicker under Linux, but I wouldn't recommend that for the faint hearted

A new PC is out of the question at the moment as I intend on buying a laptop soon for when I'm working in the Falklands, no online games for 4 months

Fallout I and II are available as are a lot of old but good games which will run well on any laptop basically. -
It's grand, the nastyness was over Xmas. This is just to finish off the unpleasant side effects (you don't want any more details, it's nothing too bad but a bit Eeeeew. Which sorta sums up the human body in general, especially when bits of it go shonky).

LOL!!! You spend longer than the end of the Lord of the Rings trilogy saying goodbye and then come back 2 weeks later?
Dismissing GGs comments as blather when it's exactly what you've done? Classy. -

I see. So leveling will be annoying at worst and endgame it will become easier?
Im guessing Fitness is a given, and im decided on Teleportation as transport. Any tips on beneficial pools beside these since this will be a rather offensive build with SM/SD? I was thinking on the lines of taking Leadership for offense/buffing or Fighting for more defense.
[/ QUOTE ]
Leadership is a waste on a Brute IMO, Fury makes Assualt basically useless and Manuvers can be bested by Combat Jumping or the Fighting Pool. Fighting Pool would be useful, but it depends what you're dropping to get it really. -

Prehistoric I think I'll go for a Plant/Emp Shaman.
Cyberpunk I think a monoblade Katana / Regen through cybernetic implants scrapper is the cyberpunk staple I'd like to try (Willpower would probably be even better but I already have a Claws/WP Scrapper and a Dark/WP brute). Might go Katana/SR instead though.
But I'd prefer to stick with one for the mo and roll the other two later on.
Oh, and with a Dark Defender, a Sonic Controller and either a Rad or Cold Defender I think our [censored] are well covered in terms of healing, even with me as the Idiot Tank.

In a same team, yes. As we will begin with two teams i think we better decide who will be on which team, team leaders etc. I prefer formulating teams around the tanks and as we have one so far i can't give any ideas about who will be in which team and what that team lacks.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't worry too much about it initially to be honest. Weird team make-ups can be a lot of fun. And since it'll be an ongoing thing the teams can evolve and change accordingly.
I won't be here Monday anyway, being admitted to hospital. Should only be for a few days. -

My favourite 5 are:
Banished Pantheon - woefully underused, great backstory, Totems are just cool
Freakshow - very funny, well designed, CoV arcs give them added depth and pathos
Rikti - well designed, alien invaders are a superhero staple, nice backstory twist
Council/5thColumn - great backstory, good mob variety, love the scheming between Requiem/Arakhn/Center
Nemesis - I love steampunk & Nemesis is a proper villain (a ubiquitous manipulator): Viridian's last mission sums him up so well.
My least favourite would be Longbow, because they're overused (in CoV, which I mainly play) and have a dull and dubious backstory - they also need more variety in minions and especially lieutenants (oh how I hate Nullifiers, yet get bored of seeing them in every spawn). I hate Wailers too - they all look the same and fight the same way... then there's that sound...
[ QUOTE ]
I think it's a shame that the BP only get a few boring one-offs and a very dull story arc (Wheel of Destruction). I'm trying to think of a decent story to write for them in the MA atm.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree 100% - I'd love to see the BP get more content devoted to them. Their backstory is really interesting, especially where it overlaps with CoT and Mu history (which inspired my first MA arc).
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed on Longbow totally. They're so damn dull. They look like a meeting of the Casper the Ghost Cosplayers Association, there's bugger all variety in them and Villains have to put up with them for 50 whole levels. -
Prehistoric I think I'll go for a Plant/Emp Shaman.

Castle hinted that the whole of the psi set is getting ajusted, so while PSW will be nerfed, all the other powers in the set will be buffed.
[ QUOTE ]
I wonder how many /psi dermadoms will quit over this.
[/ QUOTE ]
All three of them?
[/ QUOTE ]
The only psi doms really badly affected will be the ones used for high-end TV farming I guess.
Which I think Castle will regard as a happy side effect of his changes. -
Well I'm blaming Cynics Sorceress for whisking me into the 21st Century anyway, just so I can constantly harp on at him
"Let me just try this ritual you said. What's the worst thing that could happen you said. Now look at me, clanking around with oddly dressed peasants shouting 'Hey, where's the fancy dress party at, Sir Mixalot?' I don't even know who this knight they keep referring to is. Perhaps I should track him down and pledge my allegience. He must be a brave and fierce warrior." -
[ QUOTE ]
Yep, that's my point Carni. I guess it's ok to go with Tech/Scientist if it fits on character's concept.
[/ QUOTE ]
Absolutely, it'd be a tighter fit but a good concept could do it.
We could call ourselves The Time Bandits
Being 3 foot tall would be optional
Slightly more seriously there was an obscure 80s PnP Roleplaying Game set in the middle ages called Maelstrom, basically 16th Century (no reason it couldn't be earlier though) with hidden witches and wizards. The Maelstrom itself could be used as a McGuffin explaining how we ended up in the 21st century. -

I absolutely love the Tsoo! The bosses always have the best names
I just wish there was more story arcs centered around them!
Clockwork are also another favourite of mine, particularly the psychic type
[/ QUOTE ]
I love the Tsoo as well. Well up until the point the more normal minions run out and it's just Ink men, then it gets annoying. But agreed on the bosses, I love the sheer number of different, varied bosses they have.
Pity the devs didn't do what they do with other factions and downgrade the bosses to Lieuts and minions to give us high end Tsoo really. -

Hey chaps. I've been really busy with college work, that's why I haven't checked the forums lately.
Mondays are a fine day to me too. Seeing everyone is leaning towards Medieval theme, seems like a good idea to start with that one and see how it goes. This topic will stay active should other players and teams eventually come up.
As for the SG name, I really can't come up with anything yet. Cheap names cross my mind such as 'Time Travellers' or 'The Contemporaneous'. None of them amaze me tho.
Regarding my toon, I'll most likely be playing a shield Scrapper but I might consider a support toon aswell. Will think about it for the next few days.
EDIT:
Is it set that Medieval origins will be magic and mutation? I don't know much about medieval history but for the best of my knowledge the greatest minds and science/tecnology genius lived in that period (Galileo, Copernicus and da Vinci just to name a few).
I know I'm nitpicking, just wanted to be sure
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget Natural. Lots of natural broadsword & mace wielders in those times
It'd be possible to do Tech or Science origin, but it'd be arachic technology. Maybe something like a Fire blaster Alchemist who's powers are actually him throwing Greek Fire about. And I'd be 50/50 stuck between calling them Tech and Natural (in the same way a sword wielder or a bowman is a Natural since assumedly the Alchemist would have to train well in order how to control and wield the sticky fiery stuff without immolating himself or his teamies). -
An account subscription expiring, as far as I know. So when your subscription ran out before the pact was broken.

6 man sounds nice, especially if we could get some new people in Atlas to join, a bit of a subversion of Heymans post in New Players. If anything is going to convince a new person to stick about it's a decent, chatty team running stories properly.
My Tank is made and standing in Atlas as we speak. He's a reroll of a Union Tank so no need for me to try out my sets, I've already played them through the single digits anyway.
Might end up rerolling purely to tweak the cossie though, I'm not that gone on the medieval armour so far. Went with a fairly normal shield. The Fire Shield is rubbish looking. If anyones got ideas for medieval armoured types send me a link to the pics. -

I'm rolling a new toon anyway, just about to do it now.
One thing though, I won't be here next Monday I'm afraid, just got word today. Just a one off thing though. -
[ QUOTE ]
For the sake of confirming:
Time and day also fine for me. I've rolled a Mind/FF controller for now but if team will need a tougher one i can try to roll a Broadsword/Shield or DB/* scrapper which i will probably crappiest scrapper you have ever seen.
[/ QUOTE ]
You haven't seen me tank yet
With all the buffs which will be flying around I'm gonna go with Fire Melee. Conceptually Mace fits the period better and has cool customization but looking at the figures Fire just appeals to me more. I may play him as a lackey to any wizard / warlock type characters and hand wave the Fire attacks that way. It's a pity that all the powers don't come with a flaming sword though.
Edit : Cheesy name has been decided on too, "Guy de Flamberge" -
All sounds good. I can probably get away with being on by 8 (someone is going to bed early on Mondays
).
I'll play a Shield Tank. Either Fire or Mace. I'm still tempted by the earlier AOEs in Fire, would make aggro control a bit easier at the lower levels.
