Very nice set i must say, although 2 aint right for tankers, the Word of Confusion. Confused = not tauntable, bad for tankers who need to keep agro.
[/ QUOTE ]
They'll still be Taunted once the confuse wears off won't they? It's just an alternative to a Stun aura (like Dark gets). IE the Taunt will still be on them, but the Confuse will take precedent. The tank can taunt them while they are confused and once the Confuse wears off they'll shoot the tank.
I'd have said it's bad for Brutes (since they won't be attacking them and helping to generate Fury) but not for Tanks.

Toggle: +Def (all but Psionic and AoE)
[/ QUOTE ]
Given the "OR" nature of Defenses doesn't this really mean they'll have the defense boost vs everything bar AOE Psi and Non-positional Psi? For example if someone flings Fireball at them the Fire Defense from this power, along with the Fire defense from Telekenitic Shield will count against being hit.
*Edit : forgot to add I like the concept and implementation, just not sure about all the +Defense (All) and (All but AOE & Psi). Normally defense goes positional or typed, not both. I suppose the devil is in the details really (ie the values). -
63% I think, the cap only applies to actually resisting damage & debuffs. The Total is what debuffs are removed from AFAIK.
Not sure if the Resistance cap is also the Resistance Debuff Resistance cap but I'd guess that it is (so in your 20% debuff example above the original figure would have been 26.66%). -
Yep, Set bonus-wise MMs don't actually need very much themselves. The only things I can think of are Positional Defense, if you wanted to get the Presense Pool and go for a Tankermind build (but remember you've no Mez protection) or lots of Recovery so you could skip Stamina. There isn't much of a need for anything else on a MM really.
The Pet Uniques are the main thing to go for. The Soul Extraction is a good place for these, if you can get them. Along with Acc & Recharge so he's out more (I can occasionally get two of them out, which is fun).
Other than that I went with a Achilles Heel PROC in the Knights (for the sword attacks) and general Frankenslotting to get the pets Acc & Damage to nice levels (tier 1 & 2) and -ToHit & Fear (for the Lich).
Oh and -ToHit/Recharge for the Dark Servant to get him perma and maxing out his -ToHit, it's his best feature and he's the same as the Defender & Corrupter versions so he does tonnes of it. An Accuracy and then if you've slots left a Heal or Two. -
Dark Servant is best at ToHit debuffing really. I usually aim to max out his -ToHit first. That way he makes an excellent pseudo-tank. He's not the toughest but his PBAOE aura + Darkest Night + Heal make him hard to hit and decent at healing back the damage.
I'd certainly slot -ToHit over Hold since he can be a bit [censored] deciding who to hit the hold with. -

I for one still raise the banner for old school villainy which is EVEN rarer than it is heroside these days. When was the last time you saw Mercy and PO with a decent number of people on it?
My latest project Startriggerhappy has been creeping himself upto lvl 17 so far. It annoyed the absolute hell out of me that I ended up joining a mate farming for 10 mins (literally) as I couldn't get any other team - but then once I got the ding to 16 for next power (and properly prepared for Binder of Beasts asap) he left and is now back to old-schooling.
I for one will be calling for more of THIS redside too. It annoys the [insert extremely creative offensive rambling for a few mins here] me that I am quite alone in this. The heroic types are doing it again - and they ain't no better than educated fleas, birds and bees... so lets do it, lets kick some [censored]!!!
Anyone fancying the concept of some lower team redside can always holler at my new dom and kick it! Can't be letting the heroes do it all and farming is both hard and dirty, disgusting work. I'd rather rob the rich and destroy the virtues of the innocent the hard way once again! Join me now! Or make me do 'giggety' things to you too!
[/ QUOTE ]
I've been mostly doing normal missions on Union Redside this week too, I';m level 27 at the mo. Tried forming a team in Sharkshead last night with a few call-outs.
Only taker was a Sonic/Pain corruptor who was sound. We had a blast duoing a fair few missions, culmenating in the IP Mayhem which was so much fun we ended up doing all 3 side missions too.
Hopefully will be more of the same tonight too, teams are far more interesting than the solo grind. -

People don't go about advertising heterosexual pride through cities flashing their wares and so on and so I don't get it with homosexuals who do that.
[/ QUOTE ]
You guys missed the Straight Pride Parade? You stand at the edge of the street watching the music go by because everyone knows straight people don't dance. Rather than hugging you occasionally shake hands with your fellow party-goers to show appropriate affection.
Until you get locked drunk then you dance like a punchdrunk stilt-walker and hug everyone in range telling them "you's my besht friend eva"
Sterotypes are fun. -

But if the APPs and normal Pools aren't being addressed in the first pass I can see the devs wanting to get a 2nd pass done fairly quickly. I think it's almost akin to how the MA was delayed for customisable bosses due to player feedback there'll be a fair bit of player feedback miffed if PC only covers most primary/secondary sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Based on past experience, I'd be surprised if we saw any additions to the colour customisation for at LEAST a year.

They'll be a "feature" of i17 or i18 -

Veteran rewards shouldnt be that powerfull, although they need to be a reward to be so loyal, it is rather unfair for new players or even 1 year old to ever reach 4-5 years.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think that's unfair at all, it's not like the vets haven't been at the 1 year mark... I waited ages because I wanted my Blackwand vet power.
Dont think per vet reward would be good tho, maybe an extra ench slot every 6 months would be a little less OP.
I def have some toons that are crying out for more slots,,, heck make them purchasable i'll still go for it!
xD
[/ QUOTE ]
Worst. idea. ever. ... Giving people serious ingame advantages over others by making them pay for it. The cries of Doom errupting from the forums following this would make the world go deaf. And I'd be crieing right allong with them, so much even that I might forget to pay my subs.
Passing enhancement slots out as vet rewards isn't much better.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't see how this is relevant... Unless your talking about PvP I don't see how it would effect you, 1 player having more slots than another? If they are in your team, you may even benefit from it.
[/ QUOTE ]
No to "Pay for" enhancement slots, much as it may be NCSofts Marketing Departments wet dream.
If they introduce new systems to earn Enhancement slots via gameplay fine. But "earning" them via a wallet is not the route I want this game to go (further) down. -

Of course, as a non in-game explanation, number of Kheldian characters and number of powers unique to kheldians probably makes them lower priority for the initial pass at power customisation. Hopefully they make it into the second pass.
[/ QUOTE ]
Kinda like the second pass of Powerset Proliferation?
How long did THAT take again? Oh wait, it hasn't, yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, I'd be wary of promised "second passes". I'd prefer them to get it all done in one lump, delaying the release if needs be.
Half-implementing something which is a key feature of the issue doesn't seem like a good way to be doing things (although previously implemented things like the MA, Cimororororia, base changes & the half-done mess that is PvP seem to indicate that's the way Posi expects his team to deliver). -

[/ QUOTE ]
Wait, what? You got them in Issue 7 didn't you, with the 40-50 content? Exactly the same as Heroes did with their 40-50s.
I'll agree with you on the content thing, GR better match up in terms of Content to Villains. Given that so far we only know there are 2 new sets though, as oppose to the myriad Villains gave there's a fair bit of catching up to do.
True GR is an expansion rather than a "full game" as Villains was billed but there's still an awful lot expected from me content-wise.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually villain epics were added in Issue 12.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ooops, sorry. I read Epics as the APP / PPPs, not the soldier ATs. -

This is the in game reason.
The other reason is EATs are played by a smaller proportion of players, and have a greater number of powers to be altered.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes? And? So what? They're already putting that work in to doing all the other powers, so what difference does it make to do the Kheld ones too?
You're just trying to split hairs because you don't care about changing the colours on hero epics.
Well guess what? Other people DO care, and not allowing us to change them for some brainless artificial reason is NOT on!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd like them to replicate the system to Khelds too, and I reckon it's at least a stretch goal for i16.
But most other sets do get the advantage of fewer powers to work on (9 oppose to 14/12) and the fact they're generally shared amongst different ATs.
I'm guessing they might sneak into i16 though. They really should, along with Pool Powers and Patron / Ancillary powers. No point introducing a feature if you're only going to half-implement it. Especially if its the main feature of an Issue.
[ QUOTE ]
It makes no more sense to have a bright yellow dark power set than it down to make Kheld powers pink; yet the dark lot are going to be able to make their powers bright yellow if they want.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually this isn't really true. Normal AT powersets aren't as highly "welded" into the characters origin as the Epic characters ones are. For example my Fire Control might be mystically summoned hellfire, and thus burns black. Someone elses might be via burning emitted gases and thus burn orange / blue / green.
But going on canon a Kheld is always formed from a little splogy alien thing bonding with a host and that's where their powers come from.
Canon aside though in terms of giving everyone the same value from an issue any character with particle effect powers should be able to recolour really. -

Most of his stuff is out of copyright now
[/ QUOTE ]
I was thinking that. but since it's mostly reused & republished in Call of Cthulhu would it still be?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think so - that'd mean that anyone could take a classic book, republish it, then say they had the copyright.
[/ QUOTE ]
But Call of Cthulhu is more than "just a republished version of a classical book". It's a new medium (roleplaying game rather than a novel) and it expands on a lot of the ancient horrors Lovecraft uses (or just briefly mentions) in his stories. With lots of nifty pictures (which you obviously don't get with HPL).
To my mind it wouldn't be worth the risk of totally ripping off Cthulhu entities. Making totally new ones with hidden references to Cthulhu would probably appeal to the designers more than just ripping off someone elses work. -

The whole Energy Aura Set, its far too sparkly! I'm going to change my ice powers for my cold domination defender black as well.
Hasten is a must on every toon that has it but I have a horrible feeling its not going to be possible.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know they've said they want to concentrate on AT Powers first but Hasten is probably the second most popular power chosen in the game, and one widely critised for its FX so surely they'd have to include it? -

Basically what will be your first 2 powers to colour change, to what colour and why ? =D
My changes will be, -
1. Bright White Forcefields on my troller as they don't show up enough at the moment.
2. Pink Fire on my Fire/Kin

Hurrah for City of "AAAH, MY EYES"
I'll be ridding my Dark Melee/WP Brute of his canary yellow auras and making it something more suitable for a reanimated Bruiser.
My Fire/Rad might tone down his garish palette set a tad though. Although I've become used to the bright orange & lime, I might miss it.
Crom Cruaich, my Stone/Fire brute might change his flames to blood red. -
Wait, hang on, just thought of something...
If they disintergrate to dust that means a Warshade can't use their corpses for fuel, pets and general exploding goodness, right? And Council & their Science created, horror inspired minions are the chief opposition in the Peacebringer and Warshade arcs?
Gonna have to say no, just for that reason. Disintergrating bodies could imbalance the Kheld arcs away from Warshades a bit too much (already pretty annoying with those stupid explodie drones). Stygian Circle & Extracted Essense are keystones in most WS's builds and its very frustrating when you can't use them, especially when soloing. -

More to the point given how warily CoH is over copyright issues anyway it probably doesn't matter. The devs will hopefully create their own Cthulhu inspired monstrosities rather than just copying directly. -

Well like the saying goes, all it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.
It's why being a villain is so much more fun, and more profitable ^^
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but it's the same the other way around. If the evil guy also sits around his apartment / secret underground lair / vast castle watching TV and ordering pizza then evil isn't going to win either (well he'll "win" a pizza if he mugs the pizza delivery boy).
Sayings like that just remind me of the Sphinx in Mystery Men. Very deep and meaningful, unless you actually think about it for a bit. -

Every map that can hold large amount of mobs in them.. you know.. to farm?
[/ QUOTE ]
IIRC the maps weren't removed due to their capacity to hold mobs - they were removed as they had bad/buggy spawn points for objects.
But, especially if this is the case, the devs still ought to:[*] inform us of removals (and replacement) in patchnotes;[*] give us an estimate of when the removed assets will be replaced.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, the problem seems to be the fact that things seem to spawn in slightly different locations each time. So you can't even run your map to confirm everything is in the right place. Next time around the glowie may at a different spawn location. -
I'm probably going to go with Invun. Got a Claws/WP scrapper (who's been left in limbo in his 30s due to excessive Bruting) and a DM/WP Brute so I don't want to go the WP route again.
Stone just seems a bit Urrgh, don't think I could play it on a Brute.
Claws/Elec sounds fun as well though and conceptually could work. -

Conceptually, I've always far preferred Resistance over Defense. Superman doesn't dodge that bullt you know, he ignores the thing and lets it bounce off!
[/ QUOTE ]
Wouldn't work for Batman tho would it?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's why he's a defense type.
Besides which, Defense really isn't portrayed well in the game. When was the last time you say a def based char actually dodging incoming attacks? The bleeding things STILL hit, you just get a "MISS" appear in this air, or take less damage than usual...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well if stuff does miss you due to defenses the blast will go wayward. Of course that just looks like standard henchman shooting incompetence rather than your heightened reflexes letting you leap out of the way and avoid the bullet.
