But, yeah - that's the sort of seriousness I could never commit to
Inventions don't need to mean decking yourself out in Purples and PvP sets, or softcapping defense. You can easily get better than SO enhancement levels from picking out the things which aren't popular for relatively little (ie Frankenslotting). Especially for things like Ranged Damage and Melee sets where you've loads to choose from. I tend to spend a few mins every now and then post level 30 cherry picking one or two cheap IOs, crafting them and slotting them. The last thing you could call it is "serious".

Once you've gotten a few done it's far less time consuming than replacing your SOs every 5 levels.
  2. Don't underestimate the awesome that is Howling Twilight either. Yes it's a rez, it's also a ranged autohit stun vs minions (which will stack with your Suppressive Fire against a boss), a "run away" terror vs Lieuts & bosses (not the best effect in the world but can give you some breathing space) and a severe -Regen vs AVs and EBs.

I found it invaluable for both my Dark/Sonic Defender and my Necro/Dark MM even when soloing.

My biggest complaint with it on teams is sometimes I can be reluctant to fire it off as a mez in case someone faceplants (sods law dictates that this will be the case if you do use it as a Mez).

Now, PARTIAL customization I am all about, because the designs would be predetermined, or part of a selection set. Just giving us the ability to set a given pet to always spawn as a given model would be cool. I could make my "twin" Enforcers always look the same.
Yep, I agree with this. Wouldn't mind being able to pick different "flavours" for the pets, so Vash style zombies or ones like the Zombie Apoc lieuts, varying types of Gang members for Thugs or different looks for Robots but I'd be against making the pets what they aren't suppose to be.
  4. Vs level 29s I'd agree with you. Cysts are a bit much at that level when you've no Tier 9s to help, especially if they are +3 to you.

But for no more than one wipe. After that you Hosp and load up on purples and smash the bejaysis out of em (well out of the Cyst itself and mop up survivors). The game is rather easy anyway, some occasional challenge is fine IMO (you probably wiped less than the level 20 team I was on fighting +2/3 Council where 3 of the team dropped and we struggled through the rest, I reckon I had 5 or 6 wipes at least).

Wait, have we have this conversation in the Scrapperlock thread before?

I've always felt it's split between the two. MMs for absorbing the alpha, Brutes for picking up the aggro afterwards (for Fury building purposes). That's what I like about the Red Side ATs, more spread in who does what.

  8. Any stacked debuffs really. End Drains, Slows, -ToHits, -Defense, -Resistance. One per spawn is usually grand. But when they mount up... *shudder*

The worst I managed was a test arc with a load of Dark/Cold enemies in it with Benumb. Didn't really notice on the MM I was using to test it initially, but my poor Dark/WP Brute...

That's what I tell people anyway. "Any additional effects like it healing you or accidentally raising you from the dead are incidental and unintended."

That's the crux of the problem as I see it. One or maybe two MMs is fine. Anything more is hellish on tight maps (it can be hilarious too though had an 8 man team with 5 MMs before, but it was an SG team and we agreed not to break out the Tier 1s to save the Brutes sanity. Until the end when I decided "Screw it" and unleashed them and Gang War for the laugh)

And Bots are probably the worst offenders in terms of potentially annoying teammates. Lots of people just let them stand and shoot, which can be really annoying in terms of blocking doorways (so frustrating if you're a Brute and Assbot won't let you get into a room to fight while your CrackFury bar drains away) and in terms of unfocused knockback sending them miles away.

City of Data is unfortunately out of date (check out Electric Armour, Conserve Power is still listed). Brutes, Scrappers and Tanks all have their own versions now. I believe Brutes has the lowest base damage as the patch notes for the change were something like "Tanks Shield Charge : Raised the damage. Scrappers Shield charge : Significantly raised the damage".

So I think Brutes kept the old version, Tanks got a slightly boosted clone and scrappers got a significantly boosted clone.

Not 100% on the Tank / Brute, as they technically should have kept the same versions (since their base damage is the same) but Scrappers certainly did get a new, higher damage version.
  13. I'd say scrapper. The extra ooomph of Shield Charge and Against All Odds makes them better for a scrapper, and both a Brute and a Scrapper have the same soft cap.

Yep, this is the chief reason I got it. For when you're soloing a mission and need a volunteer to get your Fluffy out. Plus it's slot-cheap (1 Acc should do it) which is handy given how slot hungry Warshades are.

Merc/Pain I'd say hurtful, simply because you don't have Mez protection and not many defenses. Taunting a load of mobs is going to get a lot of attacks coming your way and the associated mezzes they have. Let your buffed pets take the damage and heal them as they do IMO
  16. It may have been a bug / oversight when Posi was head dev so he was justified in saying it was an oversight.

They may have decided it worked better for them leaving it in now, given players complaints about the AE and AE farming and how they themselves feel DXP weekends should go and what ends they achieve (such as bringing old players who quit over the AE previously back into the game).

Level 54 Comm Officers from the Rikti Mothership raids. They gave extra XP over normal Rikti and have crappy weapons since they are portal openers. But the Portal Summon is interruptible so any AOE would render them pretty much harmless. I remember an all Rikti Lieut exploit as well, using the same double XP Mothership Rikti too.

Kind of a random codeword for the uber-PL exploit farms from the early days of AE. It's linked somehow to the first big exploit farm mission that was created, though the details escape me at the moment. It was a mito farm, as I recall. I -think- the mission name, details, etc all only said one word in each field: "meow".
I thought the Mitos were "Bubble farms"?

I also like Frost Breath over Ice Storm for that character because of the lack of an AoE Immob -- they can run out of Ice Storm.
Over Ice Storm? Never. I'd never forgo my Snow Storm -> FR -> Ice Storm combo

When you have a self-heal, a resistance-based shield becomes more effective and more consistant. Instead of the hit-or-miss, all-or-nothing of Defense, you get a consistant 30+% reduction in damage which can be made up for with a self-heal.
    This is a excellent point!

Defense sets can give you some ghetto mez protection, but that said I'm not sure how much high-end Mez is Smashing or Lethal. Most seems to be Psi.

I'm not sure exactly what the time difference is between GMT and Pacific, but I'd estimate it's about 5 hours. So you're looking at about a 2PM start.
It's 8 hours isn't it? 5 between here and the East Coast (New York), 8 between here and the West Coast.

    So 5pm then.

On the plus side we'll have it longer Sunday Night / Monday (assuming they do the usual and 'forget' to turn it off until Monday morning their time)

    We are one

Yes please. The difference between Union and Virtue is ridiculous. For me the chief draw of the game is quick PuGs you can pop on and off of. This is really hard to do EU side nowadays. City of Soloing isn't much fun.

Keeping 6 DP Blasters alive with my Plant/Empath (a character I wouldn't even dream of trying EU side) is a heck of a lot of fun, even if I do feel like a newbie thanks to the fact I cannot use any of my Vet or Boosters. At this stage I feel my GR purchase is dependent on something being announced in terms of unification of the two server lists.

After playing the last few days with myriad DP blasters and defenders I agree. It's more fun for me at the moment to be the support character keeping them alive (and confusing entire spawns. Seeds of Confusion is just too much fun) rather than the DPers themselves.

The animations are just way too OTT for what they do. If I want to unleash a hail of bullets I just play my Thugs/Traps who has 2 of the pistol attacks along with his posse. One attacks looks for all the world like the character has fired a load of neon bees at the target, reminds me of the hornet gun from Half-Life.

Stalkers have never appealed to me much either, and Brutes, Tanks and Scrappers with fairly vanilla sets do nothing for me either. I like to have tricks up my sleeve.
  25. On my Illusion/Storm I use Hibernate. She's got so many droppable pets and pseudo-pets that being out of action for a few seconds doesn't matter in the slightest. Drop em all, ice up and recover. And if she's got a lot of aggro around her while iced up pop Hurricane, then drop Hibernate and everything blows away and gets debuffed. Saved my *** loads of times.

For an Illusion/Rad I'd probably go with Consume though since your toggles becoming ineffective whilest Hibernated wouldn't be nice. But for me the rest of the Ice set is more appealing than the Fire one (Frost Breath is highly underrated IMO and Ice Armour > Fire Armour for stacking with ToHit debuffs).

Conserve Power is nice too, but takes ages to recharge and Primal isn't the best combined with Illusion IMO (even though thematically it's probably the closest match). There's not enough gain from Power Boost.
