Yep, only primary, secondary, pool & epic Controller powers can get containment.
The Axe does about 70-80% the damage of non-contained Propel at with my level 29 controller. Seems very powerful, even without containment. And thats Propel 3 slotted with Damage SOs.
As for if it works with Scourge I'd say not too.
Even without containment a Fire Controller with AS, the Axe & Hotfeet running would be a total scraptroller. The biggest hitch I has with Maloth was pre 32 the lack of single target damage for taking out bosses & lieuts while Hotfeet burnt the minions up. -
EMP is awful on my Fire/Rad for End. While its not too costly itself the fact your typically running 3-4 toggles means your End just flatlines really quickly. You could drop RI once you've fired off EMP but you've still got Hotfeet, Lingering Rad and maybe Choking Cloud running. The recharge of Choking Cloud is fairly long so you can't drop it at whim as you can with RI.
A Kinetics teamie with Transference is a godsend for dealing with that. -
I always take Haste, usually at the level 30 power pick, slap it on Autocast (Control & click on the power) and thats that.
As for Ice Armour, I went Ice Storm at 47. The damage is pretty pants though but my End is bad enough without Ice Armour adding to the load. If I'm getting hit I try and mez them, whip out hurricane or Hibernate for a few seconds recover and regroup.
Ice Patch > Freezing Rain > Ice Storm would be a nice combo, especially on certain missions such as Portal missions. -
Yep, I'm with MaX on this.
Theres so many teams recently who insist on playing vs +4s or more. Over the weekend I've had a few PuGs where the leader was -3/-4 to the mobs and he was the highest level on the team. Its just not fun for me playing like that. To top it off we died multiple times (5 faceplants in my case) and they started discussing how to abuse the PvP missions by spawning a mission for one toon and then doing it with the 8 man so they can "get uber XP".
If they dropped the difficulty right down (1st, 2nd or 3rd setting) its far more enjoyable and seems like much less of an actual grind. -

But if you feel like tagging along with 2 or 3 of us on Defiant send me a tell or look for Misstrix and Professor Radburn, we always welcome extra fire power on the team.

Actually my Fire/Rad is 38 too and semi-retired due to the pain of the late 30s grind. If you guys have a slot I'd take you up on that offer. -
Not for me, thought it was tonight. Got my anniversesry that day so won't be around. Have fun whoever is attending

I was talking Deviant anyway.
Theres a Deviant lowbie event on in the arena this evening actually, I'm going to try to attend and either fight or cheer on (girlfriend allowing of course)

Um, didnt cap alpha move it to next week recently?
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh it got moved? Didn't realise. Next Friday is my anniversery so certainly won't be attending so.

Allowing attendance or allowing you to get into that cheerleader outfit....?

She likes the Cheerleader outfit. Reckons I look peppy.
I'll dye my beard to match the pom-poms. -

All i'll say is that if you're fighting +5's, you're either WAY out of your depth and many TFP's await, or you really need to take an SK.
I'm biased, but I'll say Kin/Rad FTW!
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed on the +5s thing. Waste of time completely, if its xp/min you're so desperate for +1s/+2s are perfect.
I've started ignoring leaders who run +5 missions as they're just wasting my time and gaming pleasure. -
My Level 29 Grav/TA is happy to be a punching bag. Don't mind dropping a few levels to even up a battle as well.
-
Yep, agree with Avalance, if your teamies are melee based I'd go Kinetics. If they are ranged Dark. Although personally I find Dark Miasma much more fun than Kinetics to play.

As much as I love trick arrow I'm not even going to post the embarrasingly bad debuff values. They really are quite bad indeed and considerably less than what you see above. Freezing Rain alone makes the whole TA set look comical imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought this too.
But if you factor in the fact the TA debuffs last twice as long (30 seconds for Glue & Disruption compared to Freezing Rains 15, 20 seconds for acid, which is also its base recharge) and thus the Disruption Arrow debuff can stack with itself for about 10 seconds with Haste & 3 recharges : combine with Acid Arrow for a 60% resistance debuff. Acid Arrows AOE is pretty poor but Disruption & Glue are slightly bigger than FR.
Tar Patch does last absolute ages though, it really is a kick-[censored] power.
Also Acid & Disruption don't cause scattering (indeed they can't even run out of Acid Arrow since its a direct attack) and the Knock-Down & Slow component (Oil Slick) can be fired up to cause Flame Damage. Disruption Arrow only has a -DmgResist component though, a -recharge (say 40% or 50% or something) would really equate it with some of the other sets for AV fighting.
Poison Gas Arrow is a bit useless though, personally I think if it was a 60% fear with a 10% ToHit debuff to those affected it would be a lot more use on teams. Compared to the safety offered by Rad, Dark or Storm this is Trick Arrows achilles heel.
Also the Endurance consumption of TA is much lower than any other Buff set I've played (Kinetics, Dark, Storm & Rad). I'm level 28 and I still only have one-slotted Stamina.
But I do believe TA is a better Controller set than a Defender one, when you start stacking up the TA debuffs along with the controller mezzes is where it really shines. -

See, now THIS is what PvP should be! People having fun, friendly banter, no bad trash talk!
Oh, and me laughing over FG's derezzing carcass!

99% of it is, its just the forums attract more negative discussion than positive discussion, as its easier to [censored] and moan than it is to praise :P

It's more fun too
This thread is great though. Looking forward to being one of the howling arena mob baying for blood! -

Hero builders. Bah
http://www.nofuture.org.uk/cox/
Duration for LR is 30 sec, 15 for EMP, but its twice as effective.
The recharge for LR is 90 secs, 300 for EMP unslotted
So not sure its worth it now I come to look at the durations. But if you're taking the power anyway it might be useful to slot it as a -regen debuff just for the LRSF.
AVs are highly resistant to End Drains too and the End Drain doesn't have an "Unresistable" on NoFuture, so EndMods in it won't really affect them too much. -

Good idea.. giant monsters should sit on tram stations and force people to deal with them or die. :P
Alright, I'll go play some more City of XP/hr now, sorry.. I meant City of Heroes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Its not even the XP per hour. Its the fact that Lusca is really, really boring to fight and theres almost nothing to show for it. Just saying why she's left sit in the middle of IP unharressed.
It used to be that it'd a mini-event when she spawned, teams forming to take her out. Maybe her XP was too high then but nowadays no-one cares and the devs work goes mostly ignored. I'd love that mini-event feeling back. -
No thats not true. The -regen will work if the To-Hit succeeds, they won't need to be held.
Holds bestow a Mag level hold to the bosses for the duration. If at any time thats greater than their current mag they become held. So even though they don't freeze in their tracks the Hold DID work, its just their current "Mez Level" is less than their Mez Protection level (7 or 27) so they aren't frozen in their tracks by it. A weird side effect of that which I've seen is Carni triple stacking confuses on a AV with Purple shields up (so no effect), the team attacks him, a few seconds later the Purple Triangles expire and suddenly the AV gets confused as the Mez level of 9, which was way less than 27, is greater than his new protection of 7.
I'd slot for Accuracy & Recharge and ignore Hold Duration. The extra Mez level 3 it will put on them won't be enough for a Rad Corrupter to hold them.
(This is the plan for my Grav/TA controller. He may be able to stack enough level 3 hold mezzes to hold an AV and the -recharge of EMP Arrow will affect him even if he's not stopped in his tracks)
Don't know if I explained that very well... -
Yep, the GMs are pointless. In the time it takes to kill em the 16+ people it took could have completely a fair few missions foiling lots of villainous threats instead of ganking a boring and static octopus that doesn't actually do any damage to IP, she just sits there waving her tenctacles at passers by.
And the Devs obviously agree since you'll gain far more fighting experience and your influence will increase more by doing missions foiling actually villains instead of beating on endangered species in IP Bay.
Maybe they should change it into a mission where you have to break Lusca out of Paragon City Seaworld and release her back into the wild
Free Luscy. -
I've seen parts of the all Fire/Rad team street hunting before, they were cutting through mobs so quickly.
Personally I'd love to try an all-controller team but I'd prefer mixed sets not dictated by the team leader personally. -

Hmmmmm. Actually you've sown a seed of doubt in my brain now. I had always assumed it still needed to-hit.
[/ QUOTE ]
I nearly posted before to possibly dispute what you said, but I wasn't entirely sure either, so I didn't post.
The Devs have said LR is the only -regen debuff that is unresistable. Either that means the -regen part is auto-hit (and only the -rchg and -spd parts of LR need a hit to work), OR possibly AVs/EBs/GMs have some way to resist -regen debuffs (like /SR defence sets have a chance to resist all/part of defence debuffs) which would mean LR is the only power that circumvents that resist. Either way I'm confused
[/ QUOTE ]
Me too. Where the green headed one when you need him?
I'm thinking along the lines of your last suggestion, if it hits them it isn't affected by any anti -regen powers they might have as protection.
I suppose a test in the Arena with a Rad & a Regen scrapper would resolve it.
By the way EMP has an even bigger -regen component in it, also marked as non-resistable. So maybe Accuracy & Recharge for the RV villains, although it does bestow a -recovery on you, wrecking your End Bar. But thats what your Kinetics teamie is for after all -
Hmmmmm. Actually you've sown a seed of doubt in my brain now. I had always assumed it still needed to-hit.
I still think it does but I'm basing that on the fact that the Trick Arrow Ice Arrows -knockback is unresistable but you need to hit with it, otherwise Propel knocks back as normal. -
You need to hit with LR for any of the effects, including the -regen, to affect your targets. It's just an AOE attack with slow & regen components.
-
K, I'll pop down for a gander anyway. At the worst I'll get to watch a few decent matches, it was quite fun floating about as a camera and watching the antics on some of the 3vP matches.

Not sure about both but it affects how far away you can use it. 1 range helped quite a bit with pulling mobs
[/ QUOTE ]
Excellent, thats what I was hoping, the Exit Placeable range is massive anyway.
2 Accuracy, 2 stun, 1 recharge and 1 range I reckon. Although it doesn't have the standard AOE accuracy penalty so I might drop one accuracy.
Such a fun power
