Its AOE is pretty small compared to GDF or other Controller mezzes like Flashfire. So things can frequently be just outside the range. It is slightly more accurate than GDF though so its more likely the small AOE affecting you rather than it missing. Like you said you'll see misses shown too.

Awww a shame about only one pet Having two would have made my life a lot easier... Finding groups is starting to become hard for some reason

I'm waiting on some inventions from Wents at the moment, will slot the Sing. accordingly then. Rather expensive to buy SO enhancements now, and for some strange reason there never seems to be any stock of the inventions I need....

On the bright side, with my pet I can sit back and dish out some damage now. Aggro is a bit of a pain since the Sing. is always trailing behind. However the mobs seem to move between the two of us a lot so at least I'm not taking 100% of the hits anymore. A self heal would have been really nice to have

Welcome to the 30s, teams tend to thin a bit unfortunately. I've found SG teams of about the same level are really handy in the 30s, PuGs are a bit thin on the ground sometimes. I've also found putting "Happy to Sidekick" helps a bit too, you can get sidekick invites to PI teams doing 40+ missions.

With Singy I took Recall Friend with a Range which gives me just enough range to plonk him around corners into combat range when soloing. You could also slap on PFF, aggro them, leg it around the corner through Singy and let his Repel grab the aggro.

Remember you don't need LoS for wormhole either so wormholing them from outside a room into a corner of the corrider with Singy blocking the doorway works well to keep aggro off you too. Any you miss need will attempt to run through Singy and get repelled and attacked by him, soaking up the aggro for you.

I've a non-healing secondary too and found it made a huge difference when I respecced in Medicine. I'd get it over Leadership.

No that hasn't worked since i5 I think, chances are you were reading old posts & builds.

At i5 they stole the multiple pets (about 2 weeks after I got my first controller to 32 the swines!!), you can only have one Singy out at a time now.

I'd go with 3 damage, 2 hold & 1 accuracy. Or Pet IO equivelents.

I wouldn't call 3.75% defense "pants", it's definitely noticeable and against everything including psionics. I agree that the Resistance is a higher priority for slotting though.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's not pants if you're a Tank or Scrapper layering it with other defenses alright, all those %s can add up

For a controller I generally find theres better things to be spending slots on though.

I think so for certain powers like GDF and Wormhole, where you want 3+ stats boosted. Especially in conjuction with SOs. One or two tri/dual boosts with an SO or two can really boost a power with fewer slots. For example with GDF 2 acc/holds give about a 40% boost to both stats. Throw in 2 recharge SOs too and you've fairly decent slotting there for 3 extra slots cost. Wormhole can be treated the same.

But you're right, they aren't the be-all and end-all in the 20s. They really see to kick in in the 30s when theres a wider range available and the boost is greater.

Plus you can get SOs and DOs cheaply in the Auction house which is very useful indeed for teens and 20s. DOs you can get for 100 Inf a lot of the time, very handy when you've little Inf and empty slots in your build.

In fact an unscrupulous person could harvest cheap DOs from the Auction House and run to the appropiate shop and flog them at the 150% value...
  7. Ooh, thats better actually since you can put the End/Res from Steadfast in too and get a 1.5% Recovery bonus too.
  8. Karma defensive set.

http://paragonwiki.com/Invention_Ori...hancement_Sets for a handy-dandy list of them all.

Going on it I'd slot single slot this Karma IO and Luck of the Gamblers Recharge one in Steamy mist along with 3 or 4 End/Res IOs from the various Dmg resist sets.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
So in steamy mist i want resistance not defense buff!! i think i will be rebuying some IOs tonight

The Defense bonus is about 3.7%, Resistance is much higher.

Personally I'd only take 2 out of Propel, Crush and Lift. Along with Grav distort they fill my attack chain pretty well. I went with Crush and Propel for huge contained damage and because I love Propels animation but the animation time is a pain, especially on teams.

GDF needs 6 slots, but in the meantime start try dual and tri-boosting IOs. Acc/Recharge/Hold IOs are really handy, they'd give you more than SOs do in total.

But read any Recipes Description before you try and make it, some of the titles are bugged and mislabelled so Acc/Recharge are mislabelled as Acc/Recharge/hold. Also some of the IOs have reduced Hold bonuses in them too, hopefully they'll be fixed sooon(tm)

Wormhole is better value to slot than GDF thanks to its longer duration & quicker recharge. It's a smaller AOE and slow to trigger but remember you don't need LOS to fire it off. Takes a little getting used to to deal with the knockback but its a cool power.

I also enjoy annoying Tanks and Scrappers with it by nicking their targets
  11. Freezing Rain takes Ranged AOE & Slow set as well I think. Technically you could slot 2 damage PROCs in it....

Snow Storm is Slow too. Tornado is PBAOE, Lightning Storm is Ranged AOE, Thunderclap takes Stuns, Steamy Mist takes Resistance & Defense ones (Defense bonus is pants but useful for set bonuses maybe), O2 Boost takes healing.
  12. Cya Captain!

Good luck and look forward to seeing you back once you get sick of S4m and Fr0d0

    Grav / TA

    Hi folks,
Here's my intended staminaless build for my Grav/TA. I've left out the two Healing +Recovery powers for the moment (but have slots for them in Aid Other and Aid Self). I've assumed Level 30 IOs for IO slotting. Created with Mids brilliant Hero Designer.

Crushing Field has 3 Damage PROCs in it, that gives about a 50% chance of at least one firing off on every one it hits.

Glue Arrow, Acid Arrow and EMP Arrow all have Damage PROCs in them too to maximise AOE damage.

Aid Other and Aid Selfs 3rd slots are available to the Numinas Convelesence +Recov/+Regen and Miracles +Recov respectivelly.

If I get the Freebird +Stealth IO then it'll go into Fly as part of the set.

For Epics I still haven't decided between Fire & Primal.

    Hold Sets

Yep I noticed a great benefit from Set IOs in the 30s & 40s with the Powers you pick up then.

Like when I got EMP Arrow at 38 I was able to slot in an Accuracy/Recharge/Hold set IO into the one slot and get great use from it straight out of the box rather than waiting until level 39 for a few slots to make it worthwhile. It takes so long to level from 32 onwards this is a great benefit.

Any updates on the oil slick fiasco?

I logged in once with the new Issue, watched my oil slick fail to ignite, logged out and double clicked the dark age of camelot.exe again.

Would be nice to think they are working on it in some capacity.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No updates provided on it, they've been very quiet on it recently.

For me the Pet scattering effect is much more annoying, especially in the Controller heavy SG teams I tend to end up in.

I've added it to Leeses list of bugs still in the game Here
  16. Generally even if they are squished you've got the power recharged to resummon them. They are a bit of a glass cannon, not tough but massive damage. Really they're fairly well balanced with the other Controller pets now. For Doms its tougher alright, I suppose just treat them a little like Necros zombie horde and be prepared to resummon them a lot (1 accuracy, 2 recharge, 3 damage slotting or similar in set form).

They really should have Fire resistance though, it doesn't make sense that they don't.

As for what sets to go for with a Fire/Rad I'd say +Recovery, the more the merrier. So 2-slot sets like Thunderstrike, Miracle, Stupefy, Paralytic, and Tempered Readiness for the Recovery bonus.

For AOE Immobs I reckon Damage PROCS are a decent investment too , although Fire/Rad does tons of damage already so maybe you don't need it too much.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Just Tested this fully, for the record, i'm level 34 Ill/Kin testing on lvl 34 Minions in Brickstown.

Every Summon can: Deal damage (56) to all in AoE range (Presumuable same as Fear Effect)

Every 10 (approx) seconds can: Deal damage (56) to all in AoE range (again, presumuably same size)

Every targeted Fear Blast can: Deal Damage (56) to the target

The numbers are obviously given just to show effectiveness against same-leveled minions, that was approx 1/4 of their health bar, and was the same EVERY time.
Anybody seeking Verification on this is welcome to contact me in-game at @Mega Jamie for a demonstration of the effects.

But in short, I'm pleased that it seems to fully function how I hoped it would! Yey, definatly worth it now

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh cool. So its a chance Every 10 second Pulse from the Fear Aura AND every single target Fear Casting? Thats class!

I'm so happy to be totally wrong on this!! I'd forgotten that Spectral Terror has its own PBAOE Cloak of Fear effect on it which should Tick.

    Hibernate and SI

Consume is +End though, not +Recovery. So it should do quite nicely following an EMP and Oil Slick. Its like popping a Blue.

Lighting it with Consume is a great idea. Never thought of that.
  19. Carnifax

    Hibernate and SI

If you EMP Arrow & then Hibernate will you recover though? Won't the EMP -recovery nullify Hibernate for a while? Whereas Conserve Power will help by halving the amount you spend while dealing with the -recovery of EMP.

Ice Storm & Burning Oil slick though. Imagine the fun! Dump them with a Glue Arrow and then Hibernate to avoid all the grief you'll get....
  20. [ QUOTE ]
It should check for damage every 10 seconds.

Glue arrow certainly does, I tested it yesterday.

I havn't been able to get the gimpse proc yet, I have one that is supposed to do disorent, but it only has a 2% chance (That can't be right, surely? ) so seems pretty useless.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Glue arrow ticks? Wow! Thats pretty handy!

Glue arrow is a weird one though, the Glue patch (not the debuff) seems to be related to the life of the targetted Mob, like an toggleless anchor. Spectral Terror is more like a Placeable AOE, not a anchor or toggle.

Its pretty annoyingly vague (or Cryptic even) for a lot of powers like Ice Storm, Acid Arrow, Glue Arrow and Spectral Terror how PROCs are meant to work.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I slotted the Proc damage IO from Glimpse last night.

Tho I havn't conclusively tested it's uses on mobs (only dropped it in 6 without other damage sources going too) and of those 6, 4 scattered, 1 stayed static, and the final mostly died on the first damage from it.

It seems to work as only doing its damage as it is summoned, in a large AoE radius. With no damage delt to the AoE radius again in the duration, or the targeted fear hits it gives out dealing damage either, tho as I say, not conclusively tested yet.

As it summons, the % chance to deal damage is calculated per enemy, so it is not 20% chance ot hit all within the AoE range, but 20% chance to hit enemy (say in a 5 spawn) 1,2,3,4 OR 5, which, if my maths serves correctly, which it probably doesnt theres roughly a 0.03% chance to hit all enemies in a group of 5 when you summon it.
The damage is quite decent as far as it goes, but without it pulsing, or dealing targeted damage (if thats the case) i'd quesiton whether it is WAI, and it most certainly isn't worth going out of your way to get it currently.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Nice test. Thats what I suspected and feared to be honest. I'd say its WAI too, firing off every time the Fear Attack does would be very powerful...
  22. Carnifax

    Hibernate and SI

Its great for me as a End top-up. But you're TA aren't you, so your End shouldn't be too drained.

But think about Burning Oil Slick & Ice Storm... Mmmmm. Of course Power Boosted EMP Arrow sounds awfully useful too.

I'm Ice with my Illusion/Storm and planning Primal for my Grav/TA staminaless build. That doesn't help you much really
  23. Have you slotted Glimpses Damage PROC into Spectral Terror? If so how does it work?
  24. [ QUOTE ]
If hero's have the same temp powers from mayhems there's at least one (from the side missions)

I think on the last STF I did I lit most of the oil slicks with my Rad/Rad defender for our Ta defender just through normal use of my AoEs

    [/ QUOTE ]
I always thought Rad was Lethal damage, was thinking of making a TA/Rad AOE monster before but decided not too because I thought the damage was Lethal, not NRG.

Had great fun myself last night with Miss Chiefs TA/Archery defender lighting one slick off the other
