Grats Gonk.
I'm not going to even ask how many that is now, it'd make me jealous (anything > 1 makes me jealous though in fairness) -
A lot of chars can't solo on Relentless. Does this mean my Grav/TA is broken too?
(also I assume you're including the AVs that Relentless gives you instead of EBs, or are we cherry-picking?) -

I have got a lvl 50 illusion/rad troller, if u want PM me, and i'll send u the buildchose the non expensive or expensive (one i'm currently using)

Why not just post em here for all to see? -
Illusion/Storm all the way IMO, not a massive amount of synergy (the lack of an AOE Immob which stops knockback means you've to work a little harder to keep things boxed in) but tonnes of fun.
Storms Debuffs are stronger than Rads, with the exception that Storm has no -regen (but you get more pure damage powers in tornado & lightning storm) and no -damage (who cares when things are wasting that Damage on PAs anyway). Illusion/Storm has the strongest -ToHit of any Controller combo for example (Spectral Terror + Hurricane). Freezing Rain does more -Resist than Rad too. Illusion/Storm is quite capable of soloing an EB (although occasionally I've had to Hibernate up to save myself in those fights, had to do that vs Nemises when the PAs dropped).
As Death Badger says +Recovery & +recharge are the way to go, Storm is very End heavy too.
Illusion/Storm everything bar the Flash & Invisibilities is Must Have IMO, Storm everything bar O2 Boost, Thunderclap and maybe Tornado. Usually you have enough choices to pick 2 or 3 of these "not must have" powers (I went with Flash, Tornado & O2 Boost personally but the Invises are handy for IO +Recharge slotting).
I like TP for Storm, mostly for TP + Gale/Hurricane fun (I love TPing to the other side of a group and knocking runners back into the rest of the team / decoys / debuff patches).
Epic Pool I've had Ice & Primal and prefer Ice for Hibernate for the safe resting (great when you've got your pets + a few Deceived enemies fighting for you anyway) and Freezing Rain + Ice Storm (with maybe a Flash purely for the Containment damage in Ice Storm). -
Can I just ask : How are banes compared to the standard ATs? I mean is it that Banes are underpowered or the other 3 VEATs are a bit too powerful?

*I do have a t mobile mobile usb broadband internet connection i was hoping it was my location but after trying to play the game in 3 different areas (Work,Parents and own house) i still get the same 20-40 secs game time before experiencing lost connection to mapserver.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you're playing over T-Mobiles' 3G network?
That, I'm afraid, is your problem. That thing is NOT designed for any more than web surfing and email; even streaming media over it is fraught with major lag. 3G networks just don't have the latency you need for a stable connection to something like an MMO. I strongly suggest you play one a proper wired ADSL or Cable connection.
[/ QUOTE ]
And yet oddly I used to play CoH on dial-up quite happily.
Gotta love progress
Agree with FFM though, I've tried 3G connections too and I wouldn't use them for much more than browsing, they're not consistant enough for anything that needs a good steady connection. -
So does Dark Defenders Fearsome Stare do this as well (it can also Crit)?

if i recall correctly the pet IO's for taunt/placate resist, damage resist and defence are aura's around your toon, that become active when the pets are summoned and lasts for 2 minutes, or until you summon that particular pet again.
Edit: These particular IO's only drop from TF's btw.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong, the +Def & Resist ones are always on, as I've already said.
They'd be pretty rubbish if you had to resummon every 2 mins just to keep the bonus up. -
Grats JD. Enjoy your crabs!
wait... that came out wrong -

Illusion/Radiation for messy Aoe,... or Earth/Storm (my personal favourite) fantastic GFX/animations and stoney is of course an total 'Control Monster'. Both make cave missions an absolute joy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or Illusion/Storm for the really, really messy AOE. No-one on your team will know what's going on and neither do the mobs (they'll be too busy being Feared, Confused, Slowed, Knocked down, Blown about, Debuffed, hit by lightning and attacked by multiple glowie people).
There's not much actual synergy in Illusion/Storm (esp compared to Earth/Storm) but thats the joy of it really. The ability to summon lots of horrible effects and just drown the opposition in them.
There's a huge SG in the US who are built around the TP + Vengy + Fallout + Mutate combo, the Repeat Offenders. Basically if you go AFK in a mish you'll be TPed into a group and killed for the Vengy bait (everyone has to have TP Prompts switched off for this reason). By the time you get back the debts probably gone again... -

Get yourself some mez protection IOs
or just shrug and rerun, if you cant party with someone who can protect you from th evil toggle drops.
Yeah its annoying it happens, but theres not much can be done really.
[/ QUOTE ]
There aren't any Mez Protection IOs. Just Mez Resist ones afaik. So your toggles will still drop, you'll just be mezzed for less time.
It is annoying when it happens (especially on my Fire/Rad controller with his 5 toggles now).
On teams it shouldn't happen too often. Let a Brute or MM take the alpha, stand a decent distance away from them and you should be Ok.
Oh and avoid Malta. Those stupid Stun Grenades last aaaaaaaaaaaaaages. (plus there's generally a poxy Sapper in the group as well) -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm really enjoying my Necro/Poison MM at the moment. It doesn't have a lot of tools for dealing with large groups in the secondary (Neurotoxic Breath is a decent cone slow though) but then neither does the Primary do a great deal of AoE either.
Not got a lot of Trick Arrow experience under my belt, but I don't know how well you'd cope with the aggro as your necromancy pets can only deal with things so fast...
[/ QUOTE ]
Ice Arrow, Glue Arrow and Poison Gas are probably the best here. Although Poison Gasses sleep probably won't work too well once you get Mr Torrent-Spammer (the Lich).
EMP Arrow should be great too for a MM as you should have very few toggles (or need to be spamming anything bar Pet Commands once it hits). My (stamina) Grav/TA uses it a lot more than my Fire/Rad uses EMP which, as Sinergy says, means End takes a massive hammering from the toggles.
Single target and vs EBs etc Poison is certainly stronger though, the single target buffs are evil altogether. -

Love the guide and the use of some beautiful words in it as well. Sadly I'm sure it's preaching to the converted as all the posters in this thread seem to have the knack of giving good names to their toons.
One thing that you didn't mention in the guide was using the media as a way to name a character. Be it from a film, book or song. My first hero was actually a sexy guy called Mojo Rising from the doors song LA Woman. He has an incredible libido and uses his black magical powers of seduction to bend people to his will. I have seen quite a few names cribbed directly and it's not exactly imaginative to copy outright. For example there's a Sephiroth walking around Paragon somewhere and probably a Mario and a Sonic Hedgehog too, but if you use slightly more obscure references then it can be very satisfying.
[/ QUOTE ]
My Dark Sonics Defender, Dark Lament, is named after a corporation in the SLA Industries RPG.
I was well chuffed the day I got a blind tell from someone saying "Hey, cool an SLA Industries reference". We even had a wee chat about how amazing a SLA Industries MMO could be.
Johnny Moronic is a play on the Johnny Mnemonic movie (starring Keanu). The entire toon concept is a series of groantastic Keanu puns. -
Both are good. Poison tends to work better vs small groups, TA vs larger (although you've no heal or acc debuffing going on).
TA is quite late blooming but the last 2 powers are amazing. And with i12 the Burning Oil Slick will no longer make your zombies flee in panic. Be sure to be Magic or Tech origin though, so when you do get Oil Slick you can set fire to it.
As for information on TA check my sig, its for a Grav/TA but it might be useful for you.
/ShamelessPlug -
And the Burning Panic of Oil Slick is (alledgedly) fixed so it'll play happily with pets now. Although if you peruse the Issue 5 or 6 release notes you'll note they same the same thing
-
Would this not be down to +HP powers like Dull Pain?
-
Two from me, one I've wanted to use for ages and one silly one.
Ichneumon : Insect themed character, probably a Ninja/TA (as it sounds oriental), Spines scrapper or */Thorns Dom. Named after a family of wasps which lays its eggs on or in caterpillars (and fascinated me when I was little).
Ironing Man : For the month thats in it. A former Dry Cleaner turned crime fighter. -
They're the same entity (all traps share the same entities which is why the MM versions are the same power as the corrupters) so I assume both are affected.
And Erk!! My Pukey Trap! -
[ QUOTE ]
With being able to have up to 9 trays on screen at once after issue 12, you could probably do away with the tray switching binds if you have a big enough monitor.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's more to have 1, 2, 3, 4 etc easily mapped to whatever attacks are viable at the time really. I tend to prefer keybinds along the bottom row of the keyboard anyway, easy thumb access (oo-er). My MM and even my Grav/TA binds are there too. -
Really enjoying my lowbie (14) WS now. DOs and Sunless Mire have made the character really enjoyable. I'm currently enjoying the "TP in human form, Mire, Dark Nova form and AOE death" mode and looking forward to the mezzes in Human form.
Human form I'm skipping most of the Blasts and sticking to mezzes, shields (and cloaks etc, but I skipped Orbiting Death) and the clicky buffs. Once buffed quick-switch to Nova form for AOE death. Once I get Lobster Form I'll do a bit of light tanking/alpha absorbing (wouldn't have been hard to out-tank the pair of useless tanks I had on a PuG last night) ,switch to human form for another Mire and then Nova for blasting them to bits.
I took Necros binds and have turned them into bindfiles for quick form switching and contextual form binds.
c:\binds\human.txt
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
c "powexectoggleon Gravity Shield$$powexectoggleon Shadow Cloak$$powexectoggleon Penumbral Shield"
v "powexectoggleon Dark Nova$$bindloadfile c:\binds\nova.txt$$gototray 4"
</pre><hr />
c:\binds\nova.txt
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
c "powexectoggleoff Dark Nova$$powexecname Gravity Shield$$bindloadfile c:\binds\human.txt$$gototray 1"
v "powexectoggleon Dark Nova"
</pre><hr />
So when I'm in Human form c switches on my various shields and cloaks. V switches me to Dark Nova form & changes my bottom tray to the Dark Nova tray (tray 4)
When I'm in Nova form C switches me back to human by switching off the Dark Nova toggle, switches on my Gravity Shield and switches the tray back to Tray 1 (human form). V makes sure the Dark Nova toggle is on as yesterday I had a few times where the Tray switches but I didn't go into Nova form. So being able to frantically press V repeatedly made sure I shifted into Nova after a Mire.
Once I get more shields I'll add them to the human.txt C bind so they'll toggle on too with presses of C. And once I get lobster form I'll add that as a bind file too so B shifts me into the lobster (or I might alter the system slightly depending). -

Just so you know PBU doesnt effect res
[/ QUOTE ]
Good thing then that Liquefy is a -defense and -accuracy debuff then... Oh and works a bit like a hold.
Is what I got planned aswell for my sonic/sonic. But sadly the duration of PBU will only allow at max shield 2-3 people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why would the duration of PBU make a difference? As Jackel says PBU will not boost your shields, as they are Resistance based. PBU won't affect your Shields +Res nor your attacks -Res I'm afraid.

Then its still a good thing that Liqefy is a -defense and -accuracy debuff then... Oh and works a bit like a hold.
The part about the res I had forgotten.(but looked up after being told earlier in this thread)

Sorry. I should have made it clearer, I was just responding to this bit :

But sadly the duration of PBU will only allow at max shield 2-3 people.
[/ QUOTE ]
To be honest PBU isn't the best for Sonics IMO. Liquifys recharge is so long it hardly seems worthwhile and there's little else you'll be boosting with it. PBU'd -Defense isn't exactly great either (the -Acc is useful though).
Dark might be interesting for a Amplied, Soul Drained Nuke / Howl (although Oppressive Gloom isn't the best for a set without a heal)
Or Elec for Thunderstriking foes which have been heavily -Res by all that Sonic goodness. -
[ QUOTE ]
Many people in game have been saying that Controllers are superior to Defenders already...so no matter what defender you have, you maybe seen as rather unnecessary.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or vise versa in the case of Dark Defenders
I did think Thermal was a bit powerful to be giving to Controllers. I can only guess that giving a pet class access to Frostwork was seen as the greater of 2 evils so Defenders got Cold and Controllers got Thermal.
They should balance it by giving Defenders Traps (with Defender values for them all).
To be honest I'd have probably given Controllers no secondary and started just giving them to Defenders to give the AT more uniqueness (so hero-side Thermal, Cold and Traps defenders. Controllers already have loads of secondaries). -
No Lingering Radiation?
Other than that not much to say really, other than I hope you've a lot of cash. I've got Stamina 4 slotted with 3 End Mod IOs plus Performance Shifter, as well as a few +Recovery set bonuses (about 10% altogether I think) and End can still be an issue sometimes. With all that +Recharge you might find it a bit of an issue.
Fissure rocks (pun intended), although its likely that Forced Feedback will be fixed eventually (currently its running at a 100% PROC rate or thereabouts). -
