Obviously, the original poster has upgraded. However, there are caveats with upgrades. Sometimes software built against legacy platforms won't work, and so yes, sometimes it's worth it to have a legacy platform around to continue to use legacy code.

There are also some cases where some programs are better left to a legacy platform. I happen to be of the opinion that tools like MIDS are among them. I don't like MIDS for a variety of reasons. It's one thing to look at a list of numbers and think "that looks good." It's entirely another thing to actually put those numbers into realistic play. MIDS can tell you everything there is to know about the raw numbers, but it won't tell you one lick about how an avatar plays. It won't tell you what the natural strengths or weaknesses are. It won't tell you what enemies you'll face, nor how to switch up your playing style for the needs of a team. It won't tell you how long you'll have to farm or how many TF's you'll have to run to afford the IO sets you want. It won't tell you what's actually available.
Well obviously it won't tell you those things. There's Forums and Guides and play experience for all of that. But it will tell you in what order to take the powers you fancy, what the raw totals will be on the character (which *IS* very useful) and allow you to plan a decent respec (where you already have a pretty good idea of how the character plays but want to switch powers, drop something because it underperforms or just move some slots about). It's also probably the best way to outline what IO Sets you want to go for. As a character development tool it's excellent.

Referring to Windows Platforms as "legacy" is rather daft as well. I love Linux (I'm using it right now). That doesn't mean I have to be anti-Windows. It also means I wouldn't necessarily use Linux at home (since I like playing games without trying to configure and run them through an Emulator, or paying for one) and I wouldn't really recommend it to PC Novices (since they'll just end up ringing me with every little technical issue they might have. Trying to find a Technical Answer to a Linux question on d'internet can be a right pain).

Even with endurance reduction, that's still a LOT, and that's just recovering from a henchman wipe (which isn't that rare) and not even counting all the costly support powers you may need to spam to delay said henchman wipe until your summons recharge.

Yeah, I guess if you just run around and let the henchmen shoot things, it technically costs you nothing, but when the situation gets HARD and henchmen start dropping, then endurance is pretty much the only limiting factor you're looking at on a Mastermind.
Yep, this is pretty much true. Esepcially with the new costly upgrades. You *can* go without stamina, if you're careful. But it can really, really hurt you in tough fights, you can easily end up fighting with a bunch of resummoned but unupgradable pets due to End costs. Plus they do tend to have higher Support Set End costs than their Corrupter/Controller/Defender counterparts.

With IO sets though MMs are probably one of the better ATs who can forgo Stamina once they have a bit of Recovery set bonuses slotted up (my Grav/TA controller pulls it off too).

My Warshade & my */Elec Brute are the two characters I have who can manage without Stamina with little or no +Recovery to offset it missing. Oh, and my Dark/WP Brute but that's sort of a wash since he does have Quick Recovery, Dark Consumption and Swift & Health anyway (I just prefer the spike of End of DC over Stamina).

In both cases I would guess the similarity is due to the power summoning a pseudo-pet. The interesting thing is that when traps was ported to defenders they changed the pseudo-pet so that it had defender level debuffs.

Mind you, I certainly am not going to complain about allowing corruptors and masterminds to get defender level values with tar patch but I can see how that would make folks think that the 3 AT had the same res/def debuff mods.
And Dark Miasmas Fluffy. Masterminds get the Defender version of him as well. Only the Recharge Time of the Summon Power was upped (and maybe the End Costs) but Set IOs nicely bypass that weakness whilest also allowing you to cap -ToHit.

See, this is the fundemental issue I have with games becoming more interactive with things like the Wii. I suck at things like football. I've played a few sports (field hockey & tennis mostly) but the best you could say was "At least he's enjoying it and plays fairly smart".

The last thing I want is for one of the things I'm fairly good at (gaming) to suddenly be taken away from me! I've spent years sucking at sports. I don't want to suck at one of my favourite pasttimes too.

But it's gonna get worse. Tanks will soon not only have the joy of dealing with arrogant Trollers, but Brutes (jumped up Scrappers who actually have a reason to run around like crackheads) and Doms and the SuperScout Stalker.

Buff Tanks somehow or the anemic popularity of them will decline even further.
I look forward to bringing my "jumped up scrappers" hero-side and doing my best to rob all of your aggro

It'll be interesting watching the militant herding brigade of Tankers (you know the sort, the ones that insist on All Herding, All the Time) trying to hold back Brutes and Domis alright

"Wait here please! Herding. Hey, where are you two going? Hey stop fighting them. Why aren't you dead? Why are they all they all suddenly dead?"

Especially since once the Scrappers see the Brutes and Domis running off they'll be off like a shot as well like a joyful dog running after the pack.

Indeed. Ours is called Halloween. Hey we should have some sort of event for that!!

I'm actually joking on the Paddys Day event, it'd be a bit silly really. But something in May would be interesting. Doesn't even need to be tied to a holiday really, it could be stuck onto an ingame anniversery as people have already suggested.

This would be my guess as well. Which will be an interesting fudge. "Ghost Widow had given you the powers of Darkness. Even though you've never met her". Maybe there will be a "reformed patron" ported to Hero side to make it work, an ex-follower of each Patron with no missions who just lets you learn each by talking to them.

The alternative would be to map Hero EPPs to the reformed villains using some sort of AT to AT mapping, Brutes to Scrappers (ew), MMs to Tanks (both are fairly meh), Domis to Controllers (issues with a fair few duplicate powers, but it'd rock), Stalkers to Blasters (again it'd be a bit weird, Stalkers with PFF?), Corrupters to Defenders (pretty nice).

Thanksgiving isn't a proper holiday. No-one outside North America celebrates it.

Obviously there should be a St Patricks Day event instead. Involving copious usage of the vomit animation.

Surely you mean explain it at all. At the moment it's just this random thing which happens for no discernable reason. As are the random zombie attacks.

You'd think a City of Heroes would actually have reason to investigate why they're occuring rather than just doing the event / fighting the deadly zombie invasion and then when they end forgetting about them and going back to whatever they were doing in the first place.

Not that Trick or Treating is much better story-wise mind (personally I think ToTing is basically irate homeowners dressing up to fight off those erksome grown-up Heroes who keep knocking on their doors for 2 weeks solid).

I have 13 "lines" on my reputation list. The first line has a comment, then the third, fifth, seventh, etc. It seems strange that only half of them would lack a comment, and in such perfect symmetry. It seems more likely that there's something wrong with the list.

Has anyone else noticed this? If nobody else has this problem I guess it is just a coincidence after all.

    An Idea

I'm not sure about always taking theme. For example Cloudeds Stone/Elec and Elec/Stones sound like more fun (to me) than the thematic versions.

Stone Melee is slow to recharge, hard hitting and expensive End wise, but gives nice Control survivability and good single target damage. Elec Armour gives a recharge bonus, AOE damage and superb End Recovery, but it's a tad squishy. If I hadn't gone with Stone/Fire before the changes to Energise I'd deffo have gone Stone/Elec instead I reckon.

Stone Armours "Mega" mode at 38 slows you even further, so I'm not sure slow hitting Stone Melee is the best choice. Being a bit of an AOE monster via Elec might work better to enable you to be the pseudo-tank who build Fury from being attacked and then maximises his damage via the AOEs (one of which is also a TP), which also keeps things aggroed on him.

Fire/Fire is the obvious choice. But Fiery Embrace isn't that superb, especially on a Brute and War Mace does have lots of knockdown which works well with Burn to keep things in the burn patch, as well as adding survivability. That's coming from a "Maximise Burn" approach with lots of Knockdown as oppose to Fire/Fires "Give me 30 seconds of Spike damage via Fiery Embrace". The problem with Fire/Fire for me would be the lack of mitigation in Fire Melee coupled with Fire Armours achilles heels (Cold and Psi damage, both of which you've little resistances to and both of which also hurt your Recharge which hurts Healing Flames). SR is fairly self-contained in terms of mitigation so it can get away with Fire Melees "Do loads of Damage" approach more. War Maces "mitigate via popcorning things" would work well in preventing stacks of attacks (and their attached debuffs) which might cause Fire Armour issues.

I think my own personal list would be :

    SM/Elec
    Elec/Stone
    DM/Shield
    Mace/Fire
    Fire/SR
Claws/WP (My scrapper is one of these, it'd be nice as a Brute as it can pretty much go non-stop)
SS/INV (not that I'd have a massive desire to play one. DB/INV could be interesting too)
    Axe/EA
    EM/DA (for the stacking stuns)

Although the last 2 are purely guesses and not really based on anything other than "What's left over and how well do I think they go together, with no real experience of them".

    PermaPets

Hands off my Dark Extraction. I likes my multiple fluffies. No to perma-fluffies.

Sparky isn't really a pet, he's more like a moving Lightning Cloud. He's not targetable and can't be killed can he, he just transfers aggro across to you. Even FFG and Acid Mortar from Traps are more pet-like. That said I don't see much of a reason not to quadruple his Life Span & recharge time just to make him less frustrating.

To be fair I wouldn't really want to be teamed with a Stalker who isn't outright dangerous

In fact 2 weeks ago or so I did. I teamed with a Stalker who had the complete Medicine Pool and Team TP. They spent more time hanging back, doing corpse TP duties and Rezzing than fighting. It was rather weird. I sent a Tell to the Team Leader, just saying "Hey, have you noticed our Stalker seems to be a Medic rather than a Stalker?" and the Stalker eventually starting meleeing away with the rest of us, so I assume the Leader sent them a gentle tell encouraging them to start scrapping it out with us.
