alt is a known troll. He's pretty much best ignored.

He's honestly the main one behind the anti-farm, veteran "elite" and I swear he does it just to rile people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think the anti-farming group has a response to this. It's something that farmers have been asking for for a very long time, and this is the only response the anti-farmers have to offer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nicely played - good sir, nicely played indeed.
  2. [ QUOTE ]

This is going to be highly useful for everything. It'll help those looking for new challenges, it will eliminate the need to pad (and thus also all the broadcasts for pads), and it will mean that nobody who can solo a map is likely to invite people to fill unless they're doing it for friends and SG mates.

I am curious whether the large-team bonus will apply to up-shifted missions of this type, or if some other reward will be given, or if the convenience of large spawns will be considered sufficient reward. I hope it's the last, as there should still be good incentives to actually team, and I do think large spawns will be their own reward.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't see them giving the 'large team' XP bonus to people who use this new Difficulty Adjustment thingy, the larger spawns are great by themselves, in fact... Personally I would be more likely to my XP off, if that were the case.

BUT, for those that are "all about XP" then Teaming will still give them that Bonus XP Reward they crave so much.

And it would continue to to be an incentive to team, at least for those people that actually see Bonus Team XP as an incentive.

And I'm thinking it would get rid of some of the PL'ing that goes on (or rather, the type of PL'ing that used to go on before the MA/AE was introduced).

So people aren't farming for drops, AND getting other people to pay them for the privilege of doorsitting. (I believe that's how it worked)
As for me, after a couple unpleasant run-ins with people wanting me to join a newspaper/scanner team and either "pad" or "bridge" or whatever (and I wasn't doing it properly? IDK?) - I got sick of the stupidity and went into hide (to whatever degree of 'hide' that was available at the time), and went into near Perma-"hide from everything" when that feature went live.

You may be surprised at just how "empty" the zones actually AREN'T - once the "canu fil 4asec plz?" or "fill plz?" spam goes away, their just might be all sort of heroes and villains "coming out of the woodwork" (so to speak).

And if they put in a "Turn Off Email" option, to avoid the RMT goldspamers... Together those 2 things might bring a veritable cornucopia of people out of the shadows of perma-hide, more than you ever imagined - that are/were lurking around.

Maybe not, I actually have been mistaken a couple times.

That is an awesome option. No more fill requests. I probably can get even level AVs without going Invincible from what it sounds like. That feature may be my favorite.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If they let us solo TFs/Trials the smileys will go into overload!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Let's not get crazy now!

Seriously, though, to the best of my knowledge we won't be changing minimum sizes of TF's/SF's. The minimum sizes stand as "warning labels" to newer players that these missions are more difficult/time consuming/whatever than other missions. It's a small, but important function.

EDIT: By the way, in the meeting where this feature was proposed I specifically mentioned that "Perfect Pain is going to love this change." Glad to see, at least on first glance, I was right!

    [/ QUOTE ]

TONS of people are going to LOVE this change!

A few of the "That's why its called an MMORPG, so you have to team with me people - as for them, maybe not so much...

Heck, this means I can finally come out of Perma-"your hiding from everything"! (or everything but Tells)

I might even leave 'block all invites' off for a change = so I don't forget during stuff like this weekend's Rikti Invasion, and suffer the through the faux pas of "Oops, my bad... I was on Hide. Sorry, can you please re-invite me to the Bomb Team?" (or whatever)

And seriously, please [u]"get crazy"[u] - change the minimum sizes of TF's/SF's, the only real function that actually performs now is forcing people to either:
    A. multi-box,
    B. Team-up (when they don't want too or can't), or
    C. forgo them altogether.

I'm 99.44% certain I've never completed a TF or SF - It would have to have been back before I7 or I8. I know that way 'back in the day' I did the Cavern of Transcendence & Terra Volta Respec Trials - but that's all I can recall doing so far as TF's/SF's/Trials. (Those 2 trials are really all I can remember doing.)

In fact, I don't think I've even been ON an SF at all... Ever = not that I can recall.
EDIT: Correction, I have done a couple of the Ouroboros TF/SF's, but those don't really count.

And if there have to be [ QUOTE ]
"warning labels" to newer players that these missions are more difficult/time consuming/whatever than other missions

    [/ QUOTE ]
Then by all means - Bring On The Warning Labels!
Change the TF/SF Contact's dialogue boxes & the Text within to alternating Huge Flashing Fluorescent colors they can't miss!

Add some confirmation boxes to the Contact's dialogue "Are you [u]really sure[u] you wanna do this alone - if so click this box HERE", "No, we really mean it. This is super-hard... Are you absolutely, positively sure you wanna try doing this alone?"'

Even if they somehow manage to blunder there way into a TF solo, as a new player (Like maybe the Positrion TF? *cringe* ) they'll either succeed [u]OR[u] fail spectacularly - and in the case of the latter... Surely, they'll figure it out pretty darn quick.

EDIT 2: You know, I really should know better & read the whole thread before I start typing - other people pointed out the "warning-label" thing could be done, in some manner other than making you multi-box or find another meat puppet/schmuck to team with.

located near Lorenz Ansaldo, just east of the Natural Quartermaster in sharkhead ilse

outside the building notice the contact in the distance and the monkey on the side of the building clicked the door to enter

    inside the building

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty certain you can still here the Rikti Monkey's being 'teleported' if you're standing nearby Lorenz Ansaldo - or right near there and even get the Monkey's names "X defeated Y" showing up in one of the chat window/channels.

I figured they would've taken that stuff out, I've thought Rikti were invading for a second, when coming out of the Pocket D Van in Sharkhead.
Dang the monkey on the wall, I think I remember that, but I gotta check that door though out. I never did see the place before they put it in Pocket D...

I thought you had to get stuck in a Bank Vault or something weird to get there? Or someone was just messing with me...
  8. This just in...

Sunstorm is working on something (not bases) that he's sure we'll enjoy!

I think its gotta be personal apartments, maybe even garages/vehicles...

    Personal Apartments in I16!
    You heard it hear first!
  9. Based on past experience - I'm guessing its due (at least in part) - to people stocking up on Common Salvage to build Common IO's.

With the idea being to sell tons of them during this weekend's Rikti Invasion, and/or the upcoming Double XP Weekend.

It may be a tiny bit early to start stocking up for Double XP weekend. But, I think it really depends on what your marketeering (Lol, my spellchecker wants to change that to racketeering ) er... marketing toons are doing ATM.

Like, how many toons/alts does a person play total?

Then, how many of those do they use the Market with - to a significant degree?
How active those toons/alts are - so far as, How often do you log them in?
Maybe just every 21 or so days to check their market slots & whatnot, and then relocate to a new DayJob spot.

Or it might/could be every couple days - If your selling lots of Commons IO's with a fairly high turnover rate.

Or possibly... Less often, if those toons are working slower-turnover, higher profit per sale 'niches'.
Or they're using them to put in lowball-ish "patient bids" on Recipes/Salvage/Set IO's for stuff that they don't mind waiting awhile (like, say 21+ days) to get a spiffy deal on.

So (IMO), there's quite a few things coming up in the next couple weeks, that could be affecting the "normal" typical/average day-to-day, week-to-week cycles.

Then there's the whole AE tickets thing going on & affecting salvage prices in an entirely "new" manner, compared to last time we had a Double XP weekend on the horizon...

That's my take on it, at least

Also on a possibly related note:
(If I'm not mistaken), there are a fair number of semi-recent "returnees" to the game, who've seen lots of new (to them) shinies they "need".
So... now they're playing catchup & focusing on making Inf like crazy and getting drops/tickets/merits = (farming whatever they find has the best return for the time/effort invested - not necessarily AE stuff - for awhile there it was definitely the Arena for PvP recipes).

And, on the 'semi-bright side', they're spending [u]"fairly large" (but relatively small) chunks[u] of that Inf on the more common-ish stuff for right "nao" = IE: so they can get back to generating Inf/wealth ASAP.
Then at the end of the day (so to speak), they're marketeering their butts off buying and selling to acquire the high-end/rare stuff for their various "pimped-out" builds.
The 'non-bright side' of this is that inflation seems to be cruising right along faster than ever!
  10. The "Kismet: +Accuracy" is a Unique, so you can only slot one...

But, just the one doing its actual effect of +06% To Hit should help your build fairly significantly.

Edit = left out a word, oops.

    Drop Rates again

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm saying the system we have now does what it was designed to do quite well and there the only rationale driving this call for change is "I deserve the good stuff for less effort!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

When I started to read this - I though that I was about to be a little bit ticked off by hyperbole - By something along the lines of Cavatina's (IMO) completely uncalled for remark (reply) to lighttechyah:
    [ QUOTE ]
    Use the market, then.

I play it for about 25-30 minutes a day, tops. and I have almost an entire purple set bought now. plus 70 mil stil I'm using to start building my fortunes again.

Not that I think you'll listen, as you're probably one of those types who wants "everything right nao because I need it".

    [/ QUOTE ]

But then you went and said something lacking unnecessary exaggeration and/or some immature 'meme-spelling' like "NAO", and down-right impress me with the quite reasonable and fair...

    [ QUOTE ]
"deserve the good stuff for less effort!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now see how easy that was, it couldn't have been too difficult. Thank you!

(Even though said hyperbole - wasn't directed at me this time.)
In all seriousness, sometimes it is the little things that make a difference...

As a side note: There are some things that (IMO) could stand to be obtainable with just a little bit less effort.

Example: = Need Clouded Senses Redside

Same thing with Shield Breaker, and Basilisk's Gaze "Gold Roll - Pool C/D" recipes.

I managed to get a couple of some of these (to slot & use) putting in fairly low bids on a variety of alts - that I knew I would want them for... right after I14 came out.

Meanwhile it seemed as if most people were going 'ballztothewallz' crazy - getting as many AE tickets (and/or badges) as possible "while the getting was good"...

Now on the toons I have, that didn't manage to snag any of these at a steal... Even if they DO have the Inf to buy one at a price close to the "last 5 price" (if there are even 5 sales in the history) it would likely bankrupt them... or very close to it.

Feels like people that realize these are worth something are crafting every one of these they get there hands on (that they aren't using) and throwing the crafted IO's up listed at "it's the only one for sale prices" - so they are (in my experience) listed well above the sorta price an average toon/alt can really afford to spend on one IO - unless that one IO is (practically) ALL they buy before they're darn near out of the 10-30 level range...

Even if those toons/alts are using the market. (Sorry, I fell like I gotta be sure to say that) and "head off at the pass" - anyone that might think I'm not "using the market" with said toons... *sigh*

I suppose some people might have unknowingly vendor'ed some of these in their rush to empty out their inventory & go roll for more recipes with their piles of tickets?
I've also wondered about how the "Accurate ___" recipes are weighted, Redside there's lots of fairly common or very common Powersets that could potentially use them.

    Drop Rates again

    [ QUOTE ]
i think you are missing the point that whether you are on an 8 man team or running through missions solo the drop rate is the same per person.

if you wanna whine that there are no purples on the market for you to buy, then go run some regular missions instead of AE. or run dev's choice arc or hall of fame arc's in the AE. it is because people are running the AE missions and not regular missions that there has been less of the purples on the market.

the drop rates for them do not need to be changed. they are suppossed to be ULTRA RARE. you say that you are asking for mothing which is in fact a lie. you are asking for the drop rates to be increased which IS asking for something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    For the love of ....

    Did you read the thread?

I'm not asking for anything "in-game" I'm asking for people (like yourself, in your reply to me) to stop with the all aggro-criticism - every single bloody time that someone brings up the subject of drop rates!

That's all I was asking for - and your reply about me "whining" is a shiny example of the reply/posts that I hate to read - anywhere in the Cox Forums for that matter - but especially in this forum.

Where the term "player-hater" is often an understatement, the sheer level of animosity and general disdain toward new posters or anyone that "goes against the grain" that comes (primarily) from a select handful of "Holier than thou" Over-Zealots - and is truly detestable.

Again I really wasn't asking for anything!
And in an attempt to get back to what I DID say - it was that I don't want "maps set for 6-8" to be a metric for future game balance!

It seems you thought I was somehow attacking your reply to the OP:
    [ QUOTE ]
solo farmers get better drops because they set the maps for 6-8 people. that is why they get more drops. the drop rates do not need to change. especially for purples and PvP recipes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I was not.
Nor do I think there needs to be an increase in the drop rate for teams.

I solo 98% of the time (and I've never "padded a map") - the only real times I team are for a Zone Invasion (Rikti or Zombie), or possibly Badging during a Holiday Event.

Sometimes - very rarely, if the PuG team I join for something like the above - works well and the people seem tolerable or (maybe even) fun. I'll run a some missions with them... Assuming the other people on that PuG feel the same way = they like the feel of that PuG.

Let me try to explain highlighting a post by FashionSense:
    [ QUOTE ]
    QR

It is evident that for an individual person, running solo missions is better for drops than running group missions, unless the group's kill rate is greater than the team size times your solo kill rate. Padded missions just cloud the issue, since they are equivalent to running solo missions at an artificially inflated speed (which is fine as far as I'm concerned, but beside the point).

That's exactly the kind of anti-social incentive that is usually avoided in MMOs in the interest of promoting player interaction, hence the scaling XP multiplier on team size to counteract the similar effect on XP gain. Why there is no similar multiplier on drops is a mystery to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tend to agree with the first part - that running missions solo is typically better for drops... or so it seems.

I don't like the idea that people can solo "padded maps" and get better drop rates - I'm not 100% certain whether that is even true.

I don't care about the "anti-social incentive..." bit (although I DO understand the argument), I DO NOT want drop rates for teams increased - making me feel like I'm somehow shorting myself by soloing.

(And 90% of the time - I don't give a darn about XP, I turn it off for long spans quite regularly - to finish out contacts/storylines, content & whatnot. I don't think flashbacking is the same (and some stuff just isn't flashback-able), I just don't like to out-level stuff - especially with toons that are well-slotted for a certain level range.

Although, I've recently started using my 'dual build' on a couple of more "main-ish" Toons/Alts to keep/leave a low-ish level build the way it is - and then use the second build for progressing through higher levels.
If they changed the way recipes drop based on your actual level - rather than the level range(s) you can select random rolls from via merits or tickets I might change my playstyle/outlook on some of this = I'm not holding my breath.

Back to the OP - about drop rates, I think the ridiculous lengths that some people have gone to, in order to farm for PvP recipes & Purples, & Pool C's from Bosses, etc. JUST MIGHT be a good reason for Devs to look at upping drop rates on some of these a little bit. Not alot - a little bit... IDK, maybe not?

(Possibly) to get more people back to playing the other parts of the game and spend less time "farming" often with alts that don't see any regular play - for recipes to use on their "main's".
(instead of crammed in the AE buildings or Arena Terminals

[u]Is this any more clear? I really do hope so.[u]
But, if you still choose to think I'm asking or 'whining' for more stuff for myself personally, Well... So be it. *shrug*

Seriously though - I think the topic was more about...
Just what a player needs to do, as in: What hoops they have to jump through - (aka "accomplish") to get said 'drops', and is it possible that the drop rates a bit too chincy? (And I don't think anyone is asking you NG, they were asking the collective "you" - as in everyone reading the post.

I lurk here regularly and post fairly rarely - but I really don't see that many people "expecting everything for nothing" around here, at least not to the same extent that some of the people/posters who're even more jaded & cynically than I am constantly gripe about it.

IMO, folks complain about this more, way more than people the complain about the drop rates to begin with!

Translation: There's nobody in your yard, old man... (or very rarely) So would you please stop yelling "get off my lawn!"

    3. SwellGuy, - hyperbole FTW very much?

Sorry, but I think there's gotta be happy medium around here - somewhere between "just use SO's" and "login =/= Purpled warshade", no? (OR is that unreasonable too?)

The "I remember when we couldn't afford SO's at 22... so consider yourself lucky, punk" is very reminiscent of "Back in my day, we used to walk uphill to School, in the snow, both ways, and we liked it!"

    Drop Rates again

First off, just to be clear - I don't care about Purple recipes (I don't play at lvl 50 anyway) - so I'm not asking for anything...

I DO have a problem with people using "Soloing a Map Set for 8" as a metric to gauge the drop rate on. Not because of someone's/my ability to kill all the mobs on a "Padded for 8 map" - but because of the hassle of setting up a map like that!

Then what? DO you run that same map repeatedly??

TBH, Idk how that works even...
Do (can?) you quit the mission at the end (or near the end) and then comeback to & re-enter that full "set for 8 map"?

And, even if you can = OMG, That's gotta be boring!

Also, I'm so fraking sick and tired of the unbelievably trite - "you're only entitled to SO's - if anything" B.S.! (OR the standard "Entitlement Mentality" speil)

If you think there would still be people still playing in numbers even remotely close to what there is today without Recipes, Salvage, & IO's... Then, you're kidding yourself.

So back before IO's - did you tell people they were only entitled to TO's?

I wasn't on the forums then, But I was playing off & on with an active sub the whole time. It was getting kinda stale around here before Inventions.

And regardless of what the Devs claim, the game is hardly balanced around SO's anymore - these days it's balanced around the [u]"Emergent Gameplay[u]" in CoX...

Don't believe me? Go read - virtually anything in the Dominator forum and related threads.
OR... think back to any of the last half-dozen controversially "nerf-rants" - THEN, come back and tell me you honestly believe they're still balancing the game around SO's.
  17. No, it doesn't...

It did at one point, then they "fixed it" (iirc) they added a flag on it to not affect players - even in PvP.
There's been several threads about this IO Set, since right after I11 came out, and I think a couple similar IO's that were 'flagged' for similar reasons.

Recipe information not popping up on 'mouseover.'

    1. Open Wentworth's/Black Market screen.
    2. Place multiple recipes in your auction house slots.
    3. Mouse over 'stored' recipes.

Results: Only the last recipe placed in the auction house will show 'mouseover' text. It does not matter if any other items are currently stored in the auction house, or their order.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This one is a severe PITA...

Also, the 'mouse-over' info for recipes in the Recipe Window is bugged as well, it seems/tends to only show the mouse-over details for last recipe that was 'selected'. And, that having more than one (or maybe two?) recipes "expanded" messes with the "mouse-over information" as well...
  19. Cardiff_Giant

    Bug?

    [ QUOTE ]
There was something in the patch notes saying they fixed something like this...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've found this earlier today and my first thought was = Didn't they say they fixed something like that... not broke something?

I seriously hope someone figures out what the heck happened with this, I got sick of having to right-click and pull up the "info" to see the Salvage needed (and how many I have of each at the moment...

This made crafting a real PITA this afternoon, ended up logging off and getting some sleep - rather than mess this.

I think noticed a couple new toons - (that I fairly recently made) had the option "show player rating on mouse-over or whatever..." (something to that effect) checked, and I unchecked it (prior to today iirc) because I thought(?) that was how I've usually have that option set.

IIRC, It was the option directly below "show player name" - which IMO doesn't sound like the recipe mouse-over details thing that seem to be bugged...

I suppose I should go look thru those options & see if there is some way to set or reset this?

    And for what its worth:
I noticed that it seemed to be semi-functional, IF I had only the recipe window open, but if I ALSO had the market window open it wouldn't work .
Which makes buying salvage for recipes a real chore.

    Help... somebody PLEASE fix this!

Edited to clarify my experience with multiple windows somehow affecting this. In my experience, it was the the recipe window & the market window open at the same time that caused this, IDK about any other windows affecting this? I'll see if I can nail this down to something repeatable, because this bug/whatever is a severely frustrating, bordering on excruciating...

    [u]Edited again more Info:[u]
Well, it seems that the only recipe that will show it's details in the Market Window on mouse-over - is the last one on the far right side.

And in the Recipe Window it doesn't seem as consistent, but it appears to only want to show the details for the last recipe that was selected/clicked on...

Also, Having more than 2 recipes open or "expanded" - seems to affect/interfere with the ability to see the 'pop-up details' via mouse-over...

[/ QUOTE ] I don't get it either. I have an enhancement sitting on the market for 30 million and in the past few days one sold for 60 million and another sold for 70 million.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Somebody had at least 2 listed for less than 30 million...

The one way to find out what other people are listing them for is to place bids on what your about to sell - sometimes its preferable to do so with another character and place several bids that are just a bit (or a good bit?) Less than what you're selling/listing the IO you want to sell!

That way you buy those IO's that someone else at "too low a price" (or aka those that are underselling you) - just be prepared to actually buy & resell them at the new price floor you're setting up, and be very careful you don't have someone actively competing with you - that knows what that IO sells at when listed without any "reserve"/protective bids from another toon in place!
Or you'll end up buying more of them than you can relist &/or sell in a reasonable time-frame.
And don't place the "buy" bids with the same toon you're selling with...

    JUSTICE???

    [ QUOTE ]
Sounds like it might be a problem with connectivity to the whole west coast server block. I've been getting similar problems with Virtue for the past week.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I've had a few problems (ranging from LCMS, to 'forcibly disconnected') this weekend...
And if I had to guess I'd say it might have something to do with the Aion US Beta testing & some portion of the NCsoft server farm? being a bit overloaded.

Good luck getting constructive help - I had problems with Aion 2 weeks ago during the 1st Aion beta weekend and I got the standard "send us a hijackthis log", then "well shutdown your firewall and see if that helps", NEITHER of which had anything to do with the trouble I was having.

Turned out they were (are?) using a different version of the client (the korean one iirc) AND the Aion Downloader they had everyone using wasn't compatible with the most recent version of the NCsoft Launcher available for download on the NCsoft site.

Had to completely banish the NCsoft Launcher.
And, at the beginning of the whole mess I still had an old version of the PlayNC Launcher - that I had to get rid of first... Along with the last version of the TR Test client that would never uninstall properly. Not wanting to screw anything up, I'd just left it - Heck, I could go in and load up the TR login screen and watch the Cinematic trailer.

Anywho, I had to go in and delete the whole freaking NCsoft folder then go through with one of the SB S&D utilities and remove a little bit of remaining garbage, thank god CoX has it's own folder!

Then - I let the Aion.exe Downloader install/use the specific (old-ish) version of the NCsoft Launcher it need to install Aion properly... sheesh.

    lots of help /sarcasm
"Send us a hijackthis log", and multiple auto-responses "your reply wasn't above this line and below this line (which it was - like 6 times), and then the "turn off your firewall" B.S.

Yeah, I know that stuff could in theory have caused some people problems getting the game installed & whatnot. But, I also knew it wasn't the problem in that particular instance! /sarcasm

The NCsoft GM's are great, the tech support people - not so much - at least not in my recent/personal experience. *shrug*

    Utility toons

I have a couple merit/ticket "farmers" locked in at various levels. They all have a concept of some sort but since there is no way to specify the exact level of a random roll except have a character at that exact level I'm stuck "farming" because the options are worse than this "solution".

The devs seem to be trying to move away from forcing this type of "abberant play style" on the player base but since the choice is lock in at level 37 for random rolls at 25 merits a pop or spend ten times as much on a non-locked toon to get the desired level the choice seems pretty clear to me.

When the devs fix this problem those characters will be free to progress again.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The devs probably consider your playstyle to be the abberant one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not the only one that does this. I know several folks that do the same thing for the same reason. I build to exemp. That means I don't outfit all my toons only with level 50 IOs.

If it were possible to get recipes at a specified level rather than being locked into what ever level the toon is for Pool Cs (this is the only recipe class that operates in this way, Pool As drop at mob level and Pool B drop at exempted level) this would not be seen as needed.

The main reason that some folks do this is due to the dev decision on set bonuses and exemping. It's just one more of those situations that a dev decision causes an abberant playstyle because of the way things are set up to reward players. No different than badge farming and merits and tickets have compounded the problem since you can carry them over to a level other than the one you earned them at.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm willing to bet that a few (if not many) of the Devs play in this so-called "aberrant" manner, or something that's very similar.

Now, it may be that one/(some?) of the other Devs might not like that the others do so (idk?), but this is the system they gave us...

Now, If they decide to change the workings of the system for random rolls, so that we could set the 'level slider' to the level of the recipe we want (and actually get it) instead of how it works at the moment - then I'm sure many/most people would stop this "aberrant playstyle"...

Which may not be "intended", I can't see how it matters to someone if others play this way?

Unless - possibly they prefer - rolling up new alts and leveling them up trying to get drops/rolls the "proper way", pass the recipes off to an alt toon, delete toon/re-roll and start over, rinse & repeat - ad infinitum.

    No Power

For quite awhile now, I've putting in "Rent Paid on --/--/--" (or whichever way you prefer to list the date) - in the MOTD of my SG's/VG's.

That way when I login to a character, I can look at the MOTD and have a good idea if i need to go pay the Rent or not...

A glance and a rough guess-timate, "ok the date paid was X and lemme see +6 weeks... = well I may need to pay rent in the near future..." OR
"Nope, I still have X amount of time left before I even need to worry about it!"

I don't use the MOTD for much else - all my groups are mine, unless some old RL friend(s) comes back to the game from a LONG break & even then, they'd have probably have to rejoin - I'm 99% sure nobody I know still has alts/toons in any of my groups - I mean they'd be welcome... but they just aren't into CoX.

But they're off playing WoW (a couple of them had a lot of time/effort wrapped up in their guilds or whatever), or possibly something else, or in a couple cases - last I heard they aren't playing ANY subscription-based games... *shrug*

So anywho - I'd recommend trying this & if you do have to /petition it they'll normally fix it PDQ.

I can only think of one time when they didn't - )iirc) it was a year or so ago, during a long Holiday. And a couple of people that were here on the forum - that had horrible luck/timing had to wait a week or so...
Not really the end of the world, unless maybe you only play on 1 server?
