Quote:Adding merits in the first place "told people how they should play the game", i/e relentlessly grind certain TFs that reward merits efficiently.
Players like myself who don't have the time for that sort of gameplay were cut completely out of the system.
The real solution for merits is to delete them from the game, but alas that'll never happen.
Maybe post less and play more? -
Sadly until people run it more, the devs wont have an idea of how many merits Posi is worth. Since the merits are so low few people want to run it. Its a never ending cycle, kinda like Markets and thier non merger stance and strangely low iq people telling others to just play redside.

you dont need a h34l0rz. You want traps
-
My friend and I are playing Traps, he picked up Dark blast and I went pistols. He and I both run in, he drops PGT then acid mortar, I drop acid mortar then give them the gift that explodes. Then its kinda fuzzy after that but we put some tanks to shame and give the empathy lamebot nothing to do but keep spamming Heal aura which does nothing because everything is dead or not hitting the team.
Ps Dear freedom players, Empathy is lame stop playing it.

honestly theres very little need to revamp zones. Jack 'i smoke rock' Emmert's vision of getting everyone into an instanced mission as often as possible leaves little time for people to appreciate zones, but utterly detest the huge and largely superfluous skyway and Ip maps since that gets in the way of getting to a mission.
Come on devs, you have to give away merits for people to get all the zone badges multiple times.... -
Looking at various crafted Io's for time vs inf some Io's will generally be cheaper. If youre doing a cheap build you can definately find some less desired Io sets for slightly above cost (generally mez, since we Players needed each individual mez seperated Thanks devs you know best.). This idea extends to generic Io's as well.

edited for smoking someting. unlike Ro i can admit when im wrong.
Basic point build for both +acc and +tohit. One extreme or another isnt as good. -
I had the oddest crash last nite. My 2 roomies and I played coh for most of a Sister Psyche last nite. We run Xfire (great program) with our friend in Lincoln nebraska. After about 3.5 hrs (we finished at 4hrs) All three of us got mapserved and a slow to get back on. Our lincoln friend was fine and we were all 4 of us still talking through xfire. Next mission full drop, we were still talking just fine and I could access all my regular webpages but we couldnt log on nor could I access the Coh Main page. A restart took care of it, but we didnt restart the modem or router.
All three of us have very different machines and are hardlined to the router. But to be denied Coh main page and Logon but not wiki or any other service or webpage is just too coincidental. -
the real shame is the not being able to port your acid mortar.....good times were had poting it into a spawn for the alpha.....sure i took the beta shots, but that was fine

Hi pvp'ers. I am a pve'er and shown nothing but hate for you people, but I agree with Mac. Arrogance on the Devs part that they 'know whats best' even for a small segment of the community is killing the game.
This Dev team needs to stop with Jack Emmerts 'vission' of father knows best and realize they havent got an F-ing clue as to what is 'fun' and what isnt. Sadly they wont read this because that requires work and thought as opposed to smoking crack and making changes based off a shroom induced vission.
Ps Hey Mac, thanks for all those Bmls runs on virtue. Youre a good guy in game and those were lots of fun....if really slow because of my Vg mates. -
just rename shield defense to shield offense, keep all powers the same....viola you now have super defense at offense.....and two attacks, brawl and vet/temp powers to carry you to 50 since most people pick thematically anyways.
oh the wailing and teeth and gnashing of keyboards -
Are travel powers treated as attacks according to the game engine with an obvious caveat as no damage target self?
Tried to make a bind:
Bind 'key' "powexec_toggleon ninja run$$powexec_toggleon sprint"
Bind 'key' "powexec_toggleoff sprint$$powexec_toggleon combat jumping"
The second bind works but the first bind treats ninja run and sprint as attacks so i cant toggle them on at the same time. (double tapping works)
Seems odd any devs have an explanation for this? I get that queing up several attacks is avoided for botting purposes...but theres no purpose against allowing several travel powers turning on at the same time....since theres not even a badge for traveling and autorun and follow are allowed anyways. -
i want to earn the time haters portal...so i can hang out with all the other haters from across time

i go for lvl 25. Generally theres about a 2% difference than a lvl 35 and the cost to create and salvage costs are alot lower. If theres no difference in salvage, about 30 is what i slot.
uniques from merits, slide that bar down and get the lowest available (no brainer but forgotten alot)
I sell purples if i get them, i also sell lotg because people pay stupid amounts for them regardless of level....to give you an idea of what kind of player i am. -
actually castle just bump up the protection, for far too long weve had it good here. We need to be punished. Show us some FF11 love, could ya throw in some -xp too for defeats?
-
I totally want to be a longbow, especially spines.....30' pbaoe that never turns off ever. with old mog.
Or I could be one of the various flame thrower guys that centers ignite patches on my target instead of on the ground....
Actually i wanna be a Rikti with stalagmites that shoot straight up with no ceiling on the power.
Or a sapper with one power that actually, you know, saps? Instead of this crap effectiveness that electric blast got since the devs actually thought that end drain was moderately usefull, so nerfed it..... -
to be ebil you have to punch a shoulder kitten off a catgirl

Quote:have to agree....the Devs will choose to ignore everything and proceed with whatever plans they have come too regardless of what the player base says. That's not the only difference. Another difference is that some opinions are based on an understanding of how this game is now balanced and will continue to be balanced while other opinions are based on not caring about balance and the reasons for it.
One of these will be ignored by the developers. I don't care whether you adopt my opinion. I'm only attempting to show you why the opinion to leave a broken power broken will forever be ignored.
Thier history has shown this course of action time and time again. Choose what I do, harp on thier mistakes and maybe the Dev team will finally figure out that making design decisions based on arrogance is poor at best.
ps probly not -

Quote:i can tell you this. Aoe has very little impact vs a boss. Its useful against minions and slightly less useful vs Lts. This is from playing the game since I2 with the caveat that i dont fight malta, koa or low level cot and single player.Or AoE becomes something that requires a higher level of skill to leverage than now.
AoE is just plain broken in this game, and I'm presuming game designer observers have taken note to never, ever, ever let it happen again, either in potential sequels to this game, or any other game (but of course, that's a bad presumption).
The fact that there are such reference terms as "AoE sets" and "single target sets" is a symptom of the problem. All attack sets are single target sets with AoE attacks. However, the advantages of AoE are so high in many cases that a set with one more or less AoE than another can sometimes be classified as a totally different kind of set entirely. That's a design error. Just an extremely difficult to compensate for error, especially in a game where the players are addicted to AoE damage.
But that's why I'm on the fence on things like intelligent scatter. I believe the game would be better for it, but a lot of players are used to the way the game works now. Without a better reason than personal preference, I would be hesitant to make such a change to a long-established game.
I would have *zero* inhibition to make it mandatory in any new game.
(It wouldn't take much: the simplest solution that doesn't even require sophisticated AI would be to have every spawn have a designated radius, and have a random percentage of the critters in the spawn simply walk back and forth across the radius in random directions. This would prevent them from being clumped up all the time, but it would still allow players who wanted to leverage AoEs the opportunity to either wait for the best moment to use them, or attempt to force the critters into a smaller radius with things like knockback powers or other effects. That *alone* would do a lot to even out the single-target/AoE disparity that exists now.)
Sure, 7-8 people throwing a fireball will make a dent in a boss and demolish a spawn , but shouldnt it? that is the value of teamwork. I guarantee that a spawn throwing just basic attacks at one toon will do a number on anything but amrored At's
Theres plenty of games out there that DEMAND, not just ask but DEMAND that you take your team against one mobile. This game is the only one ive seen that goes with the idea that 1 player is more or less = to 3 minions.
(i played wow and have heard stories, ive seen FF11 played and heard stories, so Cox still is more aoe centric) -
Quote:Sadly it would look exactly like FF11. very popular in asia its about large groups of people beating up one monster at a time. You need the perfect combination of toons and subjobs to get decent rewards and if you die you can lose levels.I cant wait for the game that Arcanaville is developing to come out, it sounds fun
Also you have spawn campers, a terrible time zone constraints and an elitist group of d-bags pretty much running the game. You can get the elitist crap from Repeat Offenders, you dont even need to switch games, but theyre a minority and run nothing.

so basically it comes down to, merge servers= every server is freedumb?
wouldnt that be a strawman? or is it a false dichotomy?
anyways, merge a couple servers (gasp). leave a moderate pop server and a low pop server (gasp)
Right, keep forgetting that despite gamer nerds apparent Iq, they are about as bright as the religious (ie graham cracker IQ).
toodles. RO sucks
