I've liked Brandon Routh in his post-Superman Returns stuff, but his approach to the movie in this trailer feels lacking to me, like you can tell it's supposed to be light-hearted but I'm not sure Routh has the right amount of touch with comedy to be effective in this role.

I didn't say anything about money. I was just pointing out that he was wrong about how the audience reviews were lining up with those of the critics.

Quote:What rian and I were alluding to is how the critics seem to be inconsistent about how willing they are to forgive movies that are seemingly all eye-candy (as well as other types of films) depending on who is involved. If Zack Snyder or the Wachowskis make a movie like that, it's more likely to get written off than if Spielberg does it. There's a peer pressure or expectation element to it.In the few years I've looked at RottenTomates the ratings the site gives actually tracks pretty well with reality.
I've found pretty much whenever a movie is rated around "21%" is actually is a roughly 21% "good" movie.
If that's a case of "going with the flow" or "group-think" then I willing to accept it as such. -

Quote:It's not as if critics don't feel pressure to go with the flow or can be generally wrong, however, so again it's best to just see it for yourself. This is why I pay more attention to RottenTomaotes.com as a review site. It doesn't just represent the opinions of one reviewer or a few reviewers. It brings together the opinions of 100s of reviewers from around the world to get a better overall feel for a movie. Sure if just one critic says X, Y or Z about a movie you can only trust that so far. But if you have dozens of reviewers all saying the same things then, yeah, that seems a little more credible to me.
Sadly in this particular case there are many dozens of reviewers who panning this movie. As I said before I'll probably see it anyway, but at least now my expectations are appropriately set very low for it.
P.S. Its score has dropped from 23% to 21% in just the last few hours. -
I'm seeing it no matter what. Critics aren't you, and only you can tell whether or not you like it.
Not to mention critics will laud the hell out of anything so long as it has the right people involved, regardless of it being good or not. -

I am so down for a Guyver remake. Give it to the Wachowskis.

The GL trailer looked better on the full-screen effects-wise, but the way it was put together could have been better. Should have included the full oath and avoided Blake Lively at all costs.
I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle Cap's fighting style, though. -

I'm still curious about whether or not they're going to include Samuel L Jackson in this movie. I mean, they could say that he was part of the Super Soldier program as well and just took a version of it that granted longevity instead of heightened physical abilities. Thoughts?

I just wait for the trades. I liked the first volume of Brightest Day.

This would be funnier if it came out a couple years back. And, y'know, if it were funny. >.>

The comic version of the story was actually good, but it was Morrison so he had to put a bunch of weird crap in it. It's a 12 issue series that basically has a self-contained story each issue. Combine this with the fact that they're making the DC animated films relatively short (like 70 mins max), and you can understand why the final product could easily be a mess.

I wonder how much they begged/paid her to say that.
-
Well there's not much science in it at all really. Just explosions and bad dialogue.

I know there's directors/actors that like to work with certain actors again and again. I suppose what could make it distracting for some is the prominence of the films they collaborate on. It's less noticeable when it's not one blockbuster after another.
But this is just something to nitpick until the film blows our minds. -
Turns out he will be playing The Roman's (Carmine Falcone) son.
This makes four folks from Inception confirmed in Nolan's new movie. Not to mention we could see Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow again and possibly Ken Watanabe in a flashback. Does it get to a point where it'll be distracting?
Also, could Bane just be a stand-in for Ubu? Ra's's heir to the League of Shadows? Or a figure that will be competing with Talia, Catwoman, and Roman Jr. for Gotham? -
It's Sarah Lancaster, Minka Kelly, and Odette Yustman for me, in that order.
Monica Bellucci would have been perfect in her prime, though. -
Quote:Megan Fox?This is another "Bionic Woman" Jeeez.....Personally, I don't think a woman exists that can match the self assured, quiet beauty of Linda Carter. They need to really, really rethink Wonder Woman. The one that could pull this off doesn't want the part(Megan Fox).
I thought this was a modern step in the right direction.

She looked good in Friday Night Lights and her few appearances in Supernatural, but when she came out in Legion she was a bit frumpy looking. Let's hope she brings some of the fire she had in her earlier roles, so at least when the creative decisions torpedo this show we can look back and say she did a decent job with what she was given.
