I have to admit I'm a huge fan of 'the little touches' like that.
Some of the NPC dialogue is very funny.
There was so much to take in when I first started playing (my first real MMO) but I wish I'd done what you did with reading the bios. I'm trying to catch up but that seems like a great way to learn the lore and 'history' of the game.
I still wish I could read the mission descriptions when I'm a team member and not leader. That would be awesome. Reading it off the Wiki isn't the same - especially as a fair bit of villain side seems to be missing.
But kudos to the writers, I do agree. -
I'm still waiting for the fix to the screw up that messed up xp for an arc where you defeat an object. You know, the one that was promised "with i17" then put back to "with GR" and hasn't been heard of since.
AE could have been great but instead the exploits got ignored with farms left up for weeks. So you piecemeal made changes - which don't effect real farmers anyway. Then it got really 'fixed' by hitting every non farm arc. You know; rescue a non-buffing/non-fighting hostage or defeat an object affecting xp. Know what a mission is without stuff like that? A kill-all farm.
Now every time you touch it, it breaks more arcs which are left up. Devs Choice arcs which aren't that good. The best arcs I played weren't Devs Choices but they're hard to find with all the broken stuff. Even the fact the AE accolade can't be used in the base shows how little thought went into it.
Should clear every arc out. Every one. (Oh and warn people first unlike the deleting email fiasco.) Sort out your issues so it is a genuine alternative to missions - the way it was supposed to be - without players being penalized for playing arcs. Then set it back up.
And for the love of mike, let me take that AE channel out of my list of subscribed channels. It should be like base builders or server channels - optional for those who want to use it. -
Hmm as I suspected weekends seem to have more people free but I'm happy to just throw one together mid-week if I can get enough people.

See you at Lady Grey!
Oh: we all know my ability to sort out time zones; I think Eastern is currently -6 to me. I'm posting at 21.35 ok? -
Is there any interest in Master of runs during the USA morning/daytime?
* Maybe a start time between 10am to noon Eastern USA time? Doesn't matter which day but the weekend is more likely.
Just seeing if there's any interest here before setting a date/time. If so, perhaps you'd be kind enough to say what day/s you'd prefer and what you'd like to bring? I'd like to start with the LG because it's co-op.
I'd be running my main and once she has the badge, I'd be happy to help out any other teams with whatever I have and is most useful to the team.
The reason I'm asking if there's interest is because the Mo attempts all seem to be pretty late for me (UK). If there's a restart, I often find myself having to bow out because I feel I wouldn't be awake enough by the end to play without risking the Mo. -
-
Thanks for the Standby.
Sorry I couldn't hang for the next run. As I said; I'd be dumb to join KNOWING I'm tired. Don't want to mess it up for you guys.
Hope you make it.
Catch you next time. -
Got a 50 ill/sonic I'm fond of and could bring.
Only thing for me is time. If it's too late US time it's the wee hours for me and I'm not always awake. -
Bad luck, Kay. I got six squares and 4/5 of a column.

While I personally don't mind all but one of the Fortunes, I don't like the sound effects everytime you zone and I could cheerfully shoot the idiots who cast them mid-battle.
Although I don't share the view, I do understand people who don't want Fortunes for concept reasons because they do last a very long time.
Generally I'm happy to be buffed with two exceptions:
1) Disruption Field - more a buff by default than a true but I find the rings a bit disconcerting
2) Speed Boost - I very rarely have any interest in this because ** for me ** the negatives outweight the positive
I do not understand why CoX has not yet implimented a system of buff prompts.
At the very least:
* Accept all buffs
* Decline all buffs
* Accept team buffs only
I understand that it would be too hard to have an entire list of buffs to be accepted to declined in the menu options; but couldn't the above be done?
I don't really understand the grumpyness about this; tolerate someone elses point of view and try and find the most satisfactory answer for all.
When power customization came out, I pretty much stopped playing melee because everyone's brilliant powers made it really hard to see. When I do power customization, I try to ensure people aren't going to get blinded and anything which has the potential to be annoying (EG Wormhole) or leaves me in danger (EG any nuke) is obvious. -
I've got binds stored as emails. I also emailed a few wakies around too. Thanks to this thread for making it clear that I need to get all the recipies I've been emailing around off there PDQ.

Providing the TF/SF team logs off and doesn't quit, the team will be kept. So you can continue at a later time. However, the character on the TF can't join another team/TF/SF unless they quit. So that character will be effecively limited to marketting and playing with their costume.
The Treespecs (SF Respec trials) can be done in 15 mins at a push with stealthing. They aren't that long even if you don't. Unlike blue side you don't stand around for 30 minutes waiting for an ambush.
Like all of the TFs/SFs and Raids, it really helps if the team leader knows what is going on.
The Hami and Mothership Raids are usually organized events (the Mothership raid is cooperative). Check your server for details of regular raids. Time depends on how many teams you get in. I think the Mothership Raids I've been on were about an hour a run from pylonds down to shields up.
The Lady Grey and Mothership are cooperative hero/villain. Check if the LG is fixed yet or you could have a problem with the Mitos. LG can take 30 mins or five hours. Should be no more than two though even if you deliberately fail mission two.
As for the rest; none of them should be horribly long. A couple of hours at most. Without stealthing.
The most difficult will be the LG, the LR and the Reichman.Debuffs are your friend on all of them. -
You are paying 15/month to keep your account active to post here, right? Why, if you find the game "tedious"? Find something more fun to do. No offence meant, but I would.
I don't know of any game where the lower levels are a blitz. You can do a lot to mitigate that; that's been mentioned already. At higher levels you can also mitigate endurance consumption the same way you would mitigate health consumption (damage taken). So do so.
Having to work at it a bit doesn't mean the entire game is tedious. It means you put some effort in to it to get a better result.
I can't be bothered to set purples, I can't be bothered to use sets on every one of of my 50's. However, I do not expect those chars using normal IOs to out-perform my chars who use sets or other people's chars who use purples.
You shouldn't expect characters who don't slot endurance reduction to out-perform those that do. During my brief foray into WoW, all I recall my friend's character doing is sitting down and drinking potions. That's hardly an improvement.
I don't know of any team where we've all had to call a halt and rest after every fight - even at very low levels. So I really don't see your problem. -
If the OP's idea means I don't have to SB people when playing a kin, I think it's an excellent idea.
No, asking you and saying thanks afterwards wouldn't bother me because nine times out of ten I don't want SB.
Somewhere in this thread someone mentioned making the buff longer - 30 mins. I think that's a terrible idea because if someone doesn't want SB for whatever reason - and it's their money so their choice - it puts that char out of action for 30 mins. Right now if a kin accidentally buffs once, it's mildly annoying but easily wait-outable. -
Hope it was a great day. Have a wonderful year.

This thread started by Positron was updated earlier this year. The posts near the end might be useful too because they say what people systems people are running. (I appreciate that the main focus of that thread is the gfx card.)

Quote:So should the Devs look into whacking SB around with the nerf bat for a bit? I personally believe the answer is yes. I dont know of a single other power in the game that will get someone insta-kicked for not having, or has generated this much hate on the boards at the merest mention of the heresy of not taking it in one's build.
Like this? -
Quote:I'd like to see this on more TFs. TFs used to be great for XP but now almost everyone seems to be a rushing through; even if there are people who would like XP on the TF. I'm sick of asking if it's a speed run, get told "no", only to join and get TPd from boss to boss. This seems to have become more frequent over the past two or three issues.3. Don't let a huge map be bypassed to get to the Honoree... require doors to be unlocked along the way.
Quote:AIn the meantime there are a couple dozen other TFs you can do, and hundreds of hours of other game content
People are complaining because:
1) It was a dumb move by the Devs to mess it up the first time
2) It was even dumber move to 'fix' it so it can't be completed
3) There is no assurance of a fix in the near future
Frankly after the MA lies - yes lies - I have zero confidence in an expediated fix for this problem.* -
If a team doesn't specify that they're looking for a kin then it shouldn't matter whether or not you have SB.
I have five kins and one without SB. That was a conscious decision on my part; and I don't regret it; I enjoy playing her more than the others.
When playing the SB-less one, I do tend to tell people before I join. I've NEVER been refused a team for not having SB. I did have one person get uppity about it when he joined the team after me. I offered to leave, he was abusive and rage quit the team. The remaining members refused my offer to leave and once they'd finished calling him a jerk, we all completed two TFs quite happily. Amusingly on TF 1 another kin joined (with SB) and on TF2 a third kin joined (without SB).
It is my character, my money and I will play how I want. I've alted to a kin with SB many times for stoners, but if I'm not in the mood to spend every 2mins SBing someone, I'm not going to. I don't care if it's a small proportion of my time, I don't want to do it.
I do think it will depend on your server. I think you'll get less aggro on a smaller server. Having said that my SB-less one is on Virtue.
From an argumentative point of view, I think SB is the worst buff in the game. I can think of nothing that causes so much aggro. People who want it constantly (and I don't include stone tanks), people who hate it because of the way it messes up control (especially when playing melee).
Everyone seems to think they're right and wants to force their opinion on others. You know what, chill.
If you need SB, get a friend to make one and always team with him; I'm not designing my character for your amusement. If you don't want it, just let me know when I'm kin'ing and you won't get it. I won't tell you you need the recharge or SB you anyway because I know better. I respect your right to choose.
Do you what you want. Play how you want. -
Redside is woefully lacking in TFs; and the LGTF is one of the very few they can do. Well not any more.
When?
I'm aware Dev's standard answer is soon but I'd like a bit more definition because of the Dev's recent habit of not following through.
Dr Aeon's stated "we will change the MA system in i17 or just after so that destroyable objects etc don't penalise players", a month later by Ghost Falcon changing that to "it'll be with GR". So forgive me I take "change in some future update" with a pinch of salt.
The MA alteration which was supposed to fix exploits hit non-exploiters more than the farmers. The announcement by Aeon hidden in the MA Lore section was at least an attempt at communication. Shame any goodwill that created went out the window when it was decided not to bother sorting out the screwup for another few months.
And here we are again. You messed up a TF/Raid. Then in the process of 'fixing' it, you make it undoable.
"Some future update" isn't good enough.
I like CoX, but recent issues have been shoddy (costume issues, TF broken, lag when zoning out of the base, MA mess). Communication, poor. Response to bug-reports, very very slow. I'm sick of bug reporting things and receiving standard emails from a GM who seems to be unable to read what I report.
An MMO constantly evolves and I can respect that. But I have no respect for poor forethought, lousy testing and an inability to remedy something which is messed up.
Raise your game, please. -
Were any of the reported bugs in beta fixed before it went live?
Ugh. -
Quote:The market being down was bad enough; especially as it seems these were problems which were reported in closed beta. But now we have no globals either?so for this weekend...
no globals: <No teaming for me>
no email: <No slotting of enh I already crafted and mailed>
no market: <No buying salvage to craft replacement IO's>
Admittedly I've only been playing 21 months but the pre-release quality control seems to get worse every issue.
To mess up this badly is absolutely shoddy but to do it when it should be a flagship 6th anniversary release is just unexcusable.
Why pay people to do a quality control function when they clearly aren't doing their jobs. Fire them and hire new people, please. In this economic climate, it shouldn't be difficult to find people better than the ones you have.
It's such a shame that so much effort goes into concepts and then coding and it is all just let down by the quality checking. It's like finding your favourite supercar, looks georgeous, has all the toys you could want but someone put in an engine from a Model T ford. One which doesn't work.
EDIT
Oh yes, and what happened to the promised "fix" to AE so that arcs with items to be destroyed or captives to be rescued (not fight/buff) were not penalized? Promised here for i17 or just after. Well that's now. So how much longer do we have to wait? Or wasn't this ever a promise that was going to be kept? -
