Welcome back, Vetis
[/ QUOTE ]
Oi, get back to work Doc!
<glances at surroundings....>
ummm.....
Look! Zeppelin! <points left>
<exits right> -
No, he's back!
Run away! Lots!
But playing on 256Mb is gonna be sooooooo painful. You have my commiserations in advance regarding your zoning times... -
If there's a quick and dirty 'Stealth this damn thing and get it over with' team going in, I'd like the badge on Li. Otherwise, I suspect I'll be playing my part in unravelling whatever plot Archbishop Dryden is cooking up in the Catacombs (Translation: I'll be playing DDO)
-
Bloody hell, don't tell me it's taken you this long to work off all the debt you got at the first successful EU Hami Raid?
Congrats -
Well, if it's any consolation, I played CoH for a good couple of months on my old 9600XT with no major problems, until the board itself died.
Replaced it with an X800XT PE which has done quite nicely for the last 14 months.
So, as long as you're OK with playing at 1024x768 without all the sliders maxed out, CoH should be fine. CoV on the other hand may require you to actively turn down some detail sliders -
You mean like the £350 quid 'bridge' GPU that my brother just bought, because his 6800 ultra finally gave up the ghost in Blackwing Lair?
I say 'Bridge' because a full system upgrade is coming later in the the year when it's clear whether Conroe or AM2 is going to be the route to go... -
And since MBar seems to have forgotten to update this, Amanda has now hit the required level range, so it looks like she'll be propelling pointy sticks at various Storm elementals/Rularuu. (the phrase "you could have somebody's eye out with that" is strangely appropriate when facing Rularuu
)
Me, I don't think I'll be able to attend, so you may as well take Li off any lists of potential attendees you may have, MBar. -
BTW Vetis, what level is Winters Siren?
Just there's an occasional DW Cryogenic Research Team of sorts at the moment (When I can work up some enthusiasm for the debt being an Ice tank seems to guarantee) with several toons having ice based powers...
(and then there's Maxwell's Demon... Not at all Ice based but he does go bang in such an interesting manner)
-
Never done this one, so I have no idea regarding likely timeframes.
I may drag Li out for this one if I'm awake in time (unlike last Sunday, where I didn't wake up until about 11:30)

So, did he make it then?

I was just wondering that myself
Congrats Edge.
(this post was brought to you by the campaign to occasionally increase my post-count)

exactly. with ss as well, you can get places quickly and transport the rest of the group over.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except that most, if not all of the Rogue Isles has a significant vertical component to any travelling you're likely to need to do, and Grandville looks like being the worst of the lot, so if you're looking for a power to get places fast which isn't teleport, then Superjump or Fly would be far better choices IMO.
Admittedly, you're most often going to need to TP your pets around whilst in mission, in which case, SS would be a reasonable choice, but frankly, it would make your life hell outside missions.
Just my 0.02 inf. -

Enz had Phantom Army and a nice Phantasm.
You had the squad of crazy monkies.
I get an Ice Tanker ... So when do I get this "Damage"?
[/ QUOTE ]
Level 41, same time I got my personal damage output, rather than Curly, Larry and Moe, the three psychotic aggro hunters -

... and about time too!

Like so many others, the call of the elves was too great for the poor fella to ignore.
Grats on getting a Troller to 50, something I'm trying to avoid.
[/ QUOTE ]
<cough> Chorus </cough> :P
Besides, Controllers are eeeasssyyy to get to 50, once you start being able to do some damage. -

Time required for the Task Force is quite a bit IIRC. A proper estimattion is beyond me, if someone remembers how long it is, please post below.

This is one of the quicker shards TF's, especially with a teleporter on the team to blip round all the non-instanced 'go here and click the glowy' missions.
Only 5 instanced missions, IIRC. Otherwise, lots of running/flying/TP'ing around the shards clicking glowies and leaving ambushes in your dust
Just remember, when using the gravity geysers, the entrance to the Chantry is from the west, and AFAIR, you exit from the East. But again, my memory could be playing tricks on me.
Potentially, this TF could be done in 2.5 hours with a good team and multiple teleporters, but is more likely to take 3-4 from what I recall. -
Do you want the bad news?
The Robotics primary set direct attacks do 2/3rds of naff all damage.
Even slotted with 3 damage.
I know. I've got em all and use em all.
Photon Grenade is occasionally useful when you get a disorient from it, so you might want to try and squeeze it in somewhere, but while it's a nice idea for a variant MM, you're likely to get mezzed through the Force Field Generator which will cut your damage output.
OTOH though, anything that attacks you will draw the ire of your bodyguards, so that should help matters a little.
(all the above, IMO only, of coruse)

A couple more I noticed in my time with Mr Stompy and Co.
Pets + Recall Friend + Stay command.
Put your pets in stay
Go somewhere else.
Recall one of your pets to your location.
Watch as the pet appears next to you, then merrily runs back to where it was told to stay. So the stay command isn't a 'dont move' command, it's a 'remain as close as possible to the point in space you occupied when you received the stay command' command. A goto set individually on their current location, if you will.
Workaround: remember that Stay doesn't mean stay wherever you're put. Not a lot else you can do about this one. Maybe it's not a bug, but it's not the behaviour I'd expect. If I want my bots to stay at a set point, I use Goto. If I want them not to move, I'd expect to use Stay...
Oranbega Portals and pets
So, you're in an oranbega map and you come to a portal. you go through the portal, but your pets don't follow you. Instead, as you wait for them to pop through the portal, you notice their health dropping, and eventually, either all your pets have died, or the remainder come charging down the corridor toward you from the unexplored end, with a train of aggro in tow.
The main reason this is such a pain is that the pets have a pathfinding algorithm that doesn't care whether or not you know that there's another passageway which loops three times round the map and gets to your new location, IT knows, so your pets take a three mile route march round the map to get back to the warm and fuzzy feeling they get from just being near you.
Workaround. One pet at a time, put them in stay on the original side of the portal, then start recalling. While the recall friend animation is in progress, put the targeted pet into follow mode, or, issue another stay command as soon as it appears next to you.
Not fun. -
But did you manage to finish? If you managed it tankless, then Congratulations.
If not, then commiserations. -
Task Force Hope finished at 15:31.
No Screenshot from me this time, since my PC was playing siully buggers again, and I didn't feel like logging out and back in again, just to get a screenshot.
TF Hope was:
Tundra (Stone/Ice/Ice Tank)
Aiag (Warshade, SK'd to Tundra)
Lightbringer (Peacebringer)
Dust. (Stone/Kinetics Controller)
Velinia (Empath/Dark Defender)
Ambrosia (Claws/Regen Scrapper)
Beowulf (Broadsword/Regen Scrapper)
Battery Hen (Empathy?/Electric Defender)
Tundra had team lead and the only team wipe in the whole TF was due to a biigggg room full of Rualruu all being aggroed at once.
Of course, it goes without saying that Aiag gave the Empaths plenty to do, spending most of the TF in Squid form, as I tend to when there's a decent tank to hide behind. I think I planted about 5 or 6 times in total, but managed to hit 44 during all the devastation.
Pretty much everyone who wasn't already 50 managed to get a level, and Ambrosia hit 50 whilst on the TF. -

my thinking is that gang war will have a massive recharge on, hence the 3 rec-enhances. I took stamina because I plan on doing some blasting (and 2 of the blast powers) - especially looking ultra-fly with 2 pistols
also went on current values for 'typical' pets.
would have liked combat jumping too for extra +jump but i can't really fit it in, unless there is a disposable traps power in there.
[/ QUOTE ]
As Zaprobo says, ignore stamina. I've got all 3 Robotics attacks on Toybox, and use them on a regular basis, and I don't need stamina. When your blue bar starts to run down, concentrate less on the shooty shooty and more on telling your mooks what to doThen, when you've reloaded, start up again with the shooty shooty.
Works for me.
Plus, the extra 3 power choices will make your life more interesting. -
Psst.... Don't call Enzyme a Newcastle Lad, He's From Hartlepool
-
The Academy's more an overflow SG
The cunning plan is to use DW to generate prestige and shiny things for the base, and the Academy to generate the influence to fund the enhancements for the prestige generators... Whether or not it'll actually work out like that is another matter. -
You're probably looking at about 4 hours, up to 6 if you're taking your time, from what I remember.
It may be possible to shorten it by stealthing whenever possible, but it's not the shortest of TF's.
Of course, my memory could be scrambled, as it's been something like 10 months since I last did it. -
My advice? Make sure your wedding bands are charged for the AV fight
Not so much for the AV, but because of all the damn psi blasts flying around from Wisps... -
I don't know. He takes 3 decades to get his first 50, then decides he can do his second in a fortnight (or something like that
)
Congrats. -

Task Force Thingy-Whatsit
I'm soooooo glad I didn't put myself through that torture again.
Congratulations to those that managed it. Enjoy the badges.
