  1. Well, there's a post from Amboss in the Announcements forum, but it's locked, so can't perform the usual function of such posts, which is of course filling up with random gibberish...
  2. Finally. Nearly two months after I7 went live, my pets take less than 15 seconds to follow me through lifts.

    <deadpan>Yay!</deadpan>

    /em snigger

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Quiet you!

You've got a filthy, FILTHY mind.... (hang on, I think I know why you were sniggering...)

    <staggers towards bed.>

    No problems from here ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Looks like it was a routing/firewall issue with ONE of the machines I've got access to today (being on my own today)

My usual machine has no problems, it would appear.
  5. Well, at the moment, unless there's a routing/firewall issue from work, it looks like nobody can have a forum, since it's dead Jim, but not as we know it. Or something like that.

Getting a VHCS error 404, /union/ not found.

I can pull 4 of the av's singly without too muc hassle, so we don't need a team as optimum as some would ;p

Still, we'll need the basics, then i daresay we'll have a slot or two for less than optimal choices... we'll have to see ;p

    [/ QUOTE ]

Shame I can't be arsed to play Toybox at the moment, or I'd be tempted to tag along, if you had space for a Robotics/Traps/Paranoid Idiot Patron MM...

Hope you manage to drag Seethe through it this time, so he'll stop swearing about it on TS
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Yup - good team, good fun and thanks to all who took part Looking forward to the next one!

    [/ QUOTE ]

And hopefully, assuming you're bringing Vulcan again, you won't do any more of your patented 'Fire tank face planting in 3 seconds due to massive amounts of toxic damage' performance art pieces

Vahz are not fun in large numbers at +2 or thereabout con

    Meet at Posi at 10am

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh it was 10, thought it was 11

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was 11. Started at 11:10 (ish), finished at 15:08(ish)

One team wipe early on, due to an excess of ruin mages, but other than that, no massive issues.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
3 minutes 22 seconds in, shouldn't it be "You end is nigh, Marvellous!!!!!" with the comma? Otherwise it comes across as a bit camp and pervy

    [/ QUOTE ]

And of course, as is traditional in posts about typos, there it is... Should of course have been "Your end is nigh, Marvellous!!!!!" <sigh>

Still a good movie though, regardless of how nitpicky I get
  10. Nicely done, but my typo sense (tm) kicked in at a couple of points....

1 minute 44 seconds in, it should be somebody, not sombody.

3 minutes 22 seconds in, shouldn't it be "You end is nigh, Marvellous!!!!!" with the comma? Otherwise it comes across as a bit camp and pervy

And at 3 minutes 56 seconds, surely it should be starring, not staring, and appearance, not apperance

OK, so I'm a pedant, but typos just leap out at me
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Again, I can fully understand the feeling of anger and disappointment, I also agree that they have waited a bit long with the actual change, but it is only that, a name change. They didn't wipe the account, they haven't stolen the player's soul, they have not killed him, replaced him with a robot or unleashed a horde of Ninja-Pirate-Kittens on him. ;-)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except that given the amount of time, effort and sheer empathy that people may have invested in a character, then having a name change could well feel like the soul of that character has been ripped out.

People dont refer to anothers scrapper as 'that guy with the Mask with Hair, type 2b in yellow and red, with the skull overlay, and the glossy skintight spandex top and cargo pants, in a fetching Malaise pattern of puce and green'

They're referred to as 'Killemallandletgodsortitout', or whatever. A name change is NOT a superficial alteration to a character, otherwise all your character is is a bag of powers dressed up in whatever costume you care for.

Names are important and I can FULLY understand why people get so wound up by being generic'd.

But a post like that, made in anger over a friend's misfortune can be easily taken as such.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not a friends misfortune, his brother's misfortune...

    Just to clarify the point...
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Agreed, it bites. But I doubt Kin can be held solely responsible for this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't say anything about Kin, I was trying to say that the chracter as mentioned in the link posted was what appeared to be a minor, obscure, one shot toon that has played no ongoing part in any comic continuity since, from my reading of the link....

OK, so I wasn't very clear on the point I was trying to make, but that's a side effect of me posting from work

    [ QUOTE ]

btw green very good artwork i forgot to say before with all this off topic discussion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thankyou

    [/ QUOTE ]

What are you saying thanks for? They were congratulating Jet on the artwork, and to the best of my knowledge, you're not Green Jet

Anyway. On the other topic, not a lot I can say really. It's happened. There's no way in hell Cryptic would ever reverse that sort fo decision.

So after 17 months of play, Cap USA got hit by the censors. And thats a very painful place to be hit. It sucks for Cap. And it's not a great deal of fun for anyone else with a long standing toon that may suddenly be generic'd if someone comes up with a link to a long dead minor character with a common name but no real costume similarities. (which is the impression I get from the link earlier in this thread)
  15. Bleh, I need to have a more robust 'need to reply to thread' reminder setup installed in my lower cranium...

As to me attending? Probably not. For a variety of reasons, only one of which is me being a thoroughly unsociable barsteward...

The fact that a weekend of clubbing/drinking establishments is my idea of hell is another factor, but the major factor is the amount of traveling required and that I'm almost permanently skint (with at least one batch of travelling sort of planned over the Summer already)

So, have fun guys, those of you who who decide to head down to southern wuss land

Getting smooth camera pans is a pain, and takes loads of practice, but really improves the finished product.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a trick you can use to getting really nice and smooth camera pans without demo editing.

Go to your options and look in the controls section for the turn slider. Drop it right down.

Then go into your keymapping and look for the keys bound to camera left/right. Bind new keys as appropriate.

Once out of options, having saved changes, try your newly learned camera rotate keys and marvel at the smooth pans you can now achieve (speed of pan can obviously be adjusted by the turn slider setting)

Hope that waffle was of some use. I can't remember whether or not there are keys bindable for camera elevation too though

    Thanks guys
Gamma is a Psychotic rad/rad corruptor who thinks she is superior to all living things. I wanted this picture to have a creepy air to it and I also wanted her to look rather unconcerned and unemotional in the picture. She can see no problem in using her radiation powers to kill the boy who stole her favourite toy. He shouldn't take Gamma's things, he did, so he paid the price!

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, did the psychotic/manic grin come with the second kill?

Nice pic, but I'm wondering if the head may be slightly out of scale to the body. Unless she's about 1.5 years old in the pic
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Nor does the Flashfire/Fire Cages/Fulcrum/Fireball one

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, but that's only available to a Fire/Kin or a fire/? teamed with a Kin/? or ?/kin. Whereas Flashfire/Fire cages is available to pretty much any Fire controller with Imps (unless they made some rather odd choices...) and once a group's not doing much, then they susceptible to be being smacked in the groin by the three little psychos
  19. [ QUOTE ]

    "Circuit has defeated Imp"
    "Electrode has defeated Imp"
    "Electrode has defeated Imp"

    Ha!

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know. You can tell MBar's just got his PC fixed, since he's posting like a thing possessed on these boards.

As to Fire control being overpowered?

    Not really to my eyes.

A lot of what the OP seems to have achieved in Perez is down to the combination of Fire/Rad, IMO.

Fire/FF is a lot more support oriented, and I seriously doubt I could have managed a Perez spawn solo that early in Heat's career. Mind you, that early in her career was before Containment, and life for a solo controller pre containment was painful.

It took me a full bar of end to take on two blue conning trolls in Skyway once. And I was down to about 25% health at the end of it. So I stuck to teams, and got to 32, then never looked back

Of course, the Flashfire/Fire Cages combo needs no further explanation to anyone that's used it

I have returned! Everything is up and running and Seethe returns to the charge to 50! Mua ha ha ha!

    Look! It's moving. It's alive. It's alive... It's alive, it's moving, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIVE!

Crazy, am I? We'll see whether I'm crazy or not.

    Tomorrow!

    [/ QUOTE ]

You've been working with that loony Dr. Forrester in Grandville again, haven't you?

And surely that should have started with :

    "Igor! Throw ze switch!!!"?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Now I'm off to search the Internet for what my Windows Adminstrator password should be so I can initiate the repair, as I've never had one in the past.

    ... I think ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

From what I recall, the best way to repair is a full ...reinstall from scratch. It avoids any remnants of drivers for the old hardware hanging around and causing problems with the NEW hardware....

And the best way to reinstall from scratch starts with :

    Format c: <enter> Y <enter>

If you don't want to do a full and complete rebuild, then reinstalling WinXP over the top of the old install should do the trick, but you'll be rolled back to pre SP1 condition and will need to Get SP2 on there Sharpish before you even think about connecting your PC to the net.

And once you've got it on the net, the first thing you need to do is pay a visit to Windows Update and get all those multifarious Security patches installed.

And THEN you need to get your firewall and Antivirus installed.

THEN you can start reinstalling applications.

Took me about 3 hours or so last time I rebuilt my mothers PC from scratch just to get to a basic functional level.

It's dull, tedious, involves lots of watching progress bars, and more than a few reboots...

Oh, and there should probably be some driver installation in there somewhere too And don't forget DirectX 9.0c...
  23. [ QUOTE ]
See, this is where you go wrong, you're a MM, you shouldn't be teaming in the first place

    [/ QUOTE ]

And there was me thinking that this was a massively multiplayer online game

TBH, in a team, I play as support. Fire support from my bots, debuff support from my traps and buff support from my leadership toggles. It's just the way my playstyle has evolved with Toybox. (the fact that this playstyle usually means I'm the last one standing when it all goes titsup and stand a better than average chance of being able to successfully run away has nothing to do with it )

For anyone else, this may be a particularly dull playstyle, which is why I'm not saying leadership toggles are essential but neither are they useless...
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Henches still see them though, and you can always pop yellows. I've been smoked by a widow maybe...5 times during my career, and never has it gotten me killed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, your pets still aggro, but you have no control at all over WHAT the aggro on. Also, try it in a team situation, where the brute(s) get two or three smoke grenades stacked on them and can't see a thing. Then tell me Night Widows can't get you and your team into trouble really quickly.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
I agree that leadership is severely overrated. I think all masterminds got better options from their secondary..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except for one teeny tiny little factor that comes into play from about 35 onward.

Night Widows. You get Smoke grenaded by one of them without a +per power, and you're flailing in the dark.

Also the Knives Of Artemis spawns on the rooftops in Grandville, the Bane Spider Scouts and their execcutioners strikes etc.etc.

It's by no means essential, but it IS very useful for certain MM secondaries. For example /traps like my MM. I don't find /traps a particularly end heavy set, as it's so situational, so running assault and tactics (each 2 slotted for end cost) is no major hardship, and I dare say the others on the team appreciate the buffage.

It's up to you. With a more 'active' secondary like /poison or /dark, you may not be able to afford the end cost without stamina, which is a whole other can of worms

    Not essential. But useful.
