Sorry I haven't managed to be around for a few weeks.. I have had a bad patch of migraines and can't shake them.. Had another one about 3pm yesterday.. I'd been really looking forward to getting back on as well..
[/ QUOTE ]
There's no need to apologise.
a) It's only a game.
b) Cold Front is absolutely nowhere near being a compulsory part of said game.
c) As an MMO, people come and go constantly. It something you just have to deal with.
d) There's absolutely no sense at all in making yourself ill for the sake of a game.
Come back once the migraines pass, there'll still be a team going for the forseeable future on a Monday night so far as I'm concerned.
But if you've been having Migraines for a couple of weeks, then assuming you haven't already, may I suggest a visit to your doctor?
Oh and Blind, Ouch. Good luck making it through the aftermath of the midden hitting rotary air moving device. -
And tonight was, I think, a first.
Only one team, for the entire evening.
Various Carnies, Malta and suchlike decimated. Occasional partial team decimation.
And Barsin's sucked all the drop luck out of the team with last week's little trick. I got zero named recipes last night, not even a snipe; and bog all salvage, either.
Ah well, not a bad evening all told, though. The Illusionist badge tracker is ticking along quite nicely.
This Sunday is a continuation of last Sunday's Positron, so unfortunately, no new TF starting. Sorry, Tolledo. -
[ QUOTE ]
I couldn't make it tonight (obviously), nor will I be able to show tomorrow night either.
This coming week at least is going to be very busy for me. I'm going to miss the theme nights badly.
[/ QUOTE ]
The joys of the real world, and its requirement for you to earn money to survive... Dreadful, just dreadful.
Anyway, back on the subject of far more important things.
We whipped through the Cavern of Transformers like it wasn't even there. It was so quick that we didn't get a group photo, about half an hour all told.
Then we were stood around wondering what to do next. So we decided to try a second run on different alts. That was when Tolledo crashed.
So we decided to try a positron as quick as we could.
And we're still on it until next Sunday. Just got the 4 final defeat all missions to do, with a team of one tank, 2 defenders (1 kinetics, 1 Empathy), 2 Peacebringers, 1 Warshade and Piranha Coldshot representing Cold Front.
We'd probably have been done in one evening if we hadn't started at about 20 past 8; but we were waiting to see if Tolledo was going to reconnect or not, and sadly it appeared not.
Anyway, Doc T has another Cold Front compliant alt to bring along tomorrow night, so I'll see you lot then. -
[ QUOTE ]
Hahahaha supergrats there Paj.I'm sure Canine was 'pleased' for you.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I didn't react 'appropriately', then I'd have Lifeline (or anyone else who knows me, for that matter) trying to call for the men in white coats to pay me a home visit with the special jacket with long, long sleeves so you can hug yourself all day... :P
Besides, I've long accepted that the random drops in this game are almost universally 'lumpy' in their distribution. I'll go months without seeing a single purple recipe, and then I'll hit a week like I did about 6 months ago, where I was getting a Purple recipe every night.
I *am* getting a little weary of the unremittingly Cyprinid TF recipe drops we've been getting on Sunday evenings, though. -
[ QUOTE ]
Happy birthday Echo!
So what level you guys at these days? Been meaning to ask.
[/ QUOTE ]
46ish to 50.
Most of my regular team's at or approaching 50, Echo's team is mid to late 40's.
Oh, and Happy wotsit thingy, Echo.
Tonight's TF was actually a SF. Tarikoss again. A complete pile of dross on the recipe front, but not a bad run through
Next Sunday, the cunning plan is for the Cavern of Transcendence, CF style.
That means we bludgeon our way through, battering everything until it gives up. none of this fancy shmancy stealth malarky.
We do, however, need 8 people for that.
Anyway, see you loons tomorrow. -
[ QUOTE ]
Not sure if anything is on, but I won't be there tonight.. should be around tomorrow though barring unforseen circumstances...
[/ QUOTE ]
There's always *something* on a Sunday evening. But I've got no set in stone plans for tonight.
See you tomorrow. -

[ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't worry about it too much Weiss, the other, more awesome team that I lead have yet to start the Maria Jenkins arc so there will be plenty of opportunity to catch the AVs you missed out on.
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be the other, more awesome team that has fallen about 4-5 levels behind the real awesome team, hmm?
And Weiss, The AV's we hammered last night were, IIRC, Black Swan, Malaise, Mother Mayhem, Diabolique (ouchie) and Infernal, Dominatrix and Marauder, and Tyrant.
The Diabolique/Infernal mission was initially painful, as Diabolique was in the first spawn in the map (Oranbega, as per usual), and it activated as an ambush, so she came bearing down on us like a tonne of rectangular building things.
Mind you, that just meant that once we'd hammered her down, the rest of the mission was a cake walk.
And I dare say we'll be doing A Hero's Hero again. Possibly as a Flashback on a Sunday after I13 and merits come in. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sorry, just came home now and I'm dog-tired.
See you all next week and congrats to all new 50's.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lemmesee, Tonights 50's were Abyssal and Mr Celsius, I think.
Last nights Imperious TF was pretty striaghtforward, thanks to those who assisted.
And guess what we did tonight?
I was very briefly tempted to hold onto that mission until I13, and try ans squeeze some merits out of it, but apparently we had several people who'd never done it before... <cough>Echo, Blind</cough>
Anyway, that's Aerial outfitted with a shiny new Portal Jockey Accolade -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not going to be able to make it tonight... I've spent the day alternating between being asleep and throwing up.. Hope everything goes ok, and I should be around tomorrow..
Jonathan
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't push it. If you're still ill, then stay in bed
So far it's me, Piranha and Tolledo. Abyssal's been delayed by real life and Icicle's already said they won't be here this week. And it looks like <shock, horror!> Echo's forgotten.
So looks like no TF tonight. May just take the soldiers out and get them into range for the next Villain SF.
Mind you, come hell or high water, the next Sunday TF/SF WILL be Aerial, Abyssal and Tolledo going through the ITF :P -
[ QUOTE ]
Basically yes, I cant recall any enemies that have over 50% ToHit aside from DE with eminators and Nemesis with vengeance. Also in PvP the player ToHit is dropped to 50% but most players have enough ToHit and +accuracy that defense is quite useless in PvP
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure if it's +tohit or +acc, but Malta Gunslingers and Auto Turrets rip though defence as if it wasn't even there...
Oh, and Rularuu Eyeballs basically ignore defence, too.
There may be more, but I can't think of them offhand. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have three cold forms of Pious to offer, Ice Armour 50, Storm Summoning 50 and Ice Melee 42. Now I'm on the global, I'll keep a look out for Cold Front teams. Yesterday's respec trial was very easy but also enjoyable.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cold Front teams tend to run pretty much exclusively only on Monday evenings with a small core of idiots who join Lifeline and Myself on our regular Sunday evening TF's.
This coming Sunday, the TF is Imperious again, getting Aerial, Abyssal and Tolledo the badge, since we alted to other support toons last Sunday, <strikes noble pose> sacrificing xp and possible shiny things to help our fellow CF's, and waht gratitude do we get? None <sniff>... -
[ QUOTE ]
Aerial's been slacking off
Big gratz to Charged Icicle and Frozen Phenom!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Oi!
You know fine well that I *would* have been first to 50, except that I was tanking the ITF on Sunday evening with Tufa.
If I'd had Aerial along and made some other poor sod do the tanking on Rom, then I'd have gotten there first :P
Not that I was aware it was a race. And if it was a race, then team Aerial beat Team Belle so ner :P
(as I said on Sunday, 50 loses a little shine the 5th time around, and nowadays it's just something that happens eventually.) -
We had the first Cold Front 50's last night.
Charged Icicle was first, and Frozen Phenom about 30-40 mins later.
Congrats, both.
This Sunday is ITF number 3. Getting the badges for those who had alted out last Sunday. We'll sort out alts and so forth later. -

Has anyone seen this? Just found this over in the US forum. It's quite cute.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....=0#Post12464509
[/ QUOTE ]
Damn, beaten to it. I've been thinking about trying that for nigh on a year now, just never been able to find enough kineticists.
But I was holding out for enough to get Granite + Rooted airborne -
And this time around, it was relatively straightforward.
Straightforward enough that a certain idiot pet you get in the mission survived until the end... o_O
Next week it's Aerial, Abyssal and Tolledo's turn for the badge.
As a side effect, Aerial lost her lead in Cold Front, and it looks like Charged Icicle gets to be the first 50 in Cold Front, closely followed by Piranha Coldshot.
Anyway, tomorrow evening, Meeting point is the Valorous badge marker in IP. And you're getting no other hints from me on exactly where that is :P -
[ QUOTE ]
There what a patch hit the US test forum on Friday (after everyone here had gone to bed). Don't think it includes the changes to APPs though.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're right.
The patch went up on Friday, and the patch notes are here.
No mention of the changes to the APP/PPP changes yet. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just logged onto test... and I only have world of confusion... tried a respec, and Telekinesis is NOT an available option... any idea when the changes will be implmented ??
oh... and also... is it me, or is world of confusion a total pile of *censored* ???? mag 2 confuse, barely hits minions, and the confuse lasts for all of a second or two...
and they wanted to take TK away for this?? what in HELL were they thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
That'd be because we haven't had that patch yet. I think it went live on the US training room on Thursday/Friday, so I'd assume it'll land here on Monday, unless there was some godawful game breaking bug that came along with it which means we skip a patch.
Sometimes having the herns beta test patches for us is a good thing -
Hmm, most idiotic thing recently was listing salvage on the auctions while not totally awake. I'd been scrapping for about 4 hours, and frankly, 4 hours of concentrated scrapping will fry my brain a little, especially on my DB/WP, which I find requires a little more concentration than my Katana/Regen.
I'd finally reached about 107million ish, was listing some common salvage and somehow or other a couple of bits hadn't listed, so the list price box was filling up with numbers. Eventually I think a listing actually went through at something like 1,000,000,000 inf. For a piece of common mid-tier tech salvage.
And we all knows what that means, don't we, kiddies? Wave bye bye to about 50 million inf in listing fee <facepalm> <sinking feeling in pit of stomach>.
By some concentrated effort during the week, I've managed to get back to about 99 mill total, but it's reminded me to pay attention to the little details. -
[ QUOTE ]
No dipstick. Your bolt is restored.
[/ QUOTE ]
Who're you calling a dipstick? :P
Castle's post on the subject. -
[ QUOTE ]
I will have to respec her now I guess, and get rid of conserve.
I hope it doesnt "autorespec" your power trays like it does on test too, its a pain to put them back in order.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't do anything yet. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm still trying to work out where the creepy heartbeat sound comes from on Willpower sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Seems to be whenever you exit combat. But I'm not 100% sure on that. I noticed it before I got RTTC on my DB/WP scrapper, so I don't think it's tied directly to any particular power, may be more of a 'set special effect' -
[ QUOTE ]
Why could they not have just added an extra power option to each set? I quite liked hurl boulder on my controller, it was a good power to slot cheap knockback protection in.
[/ QUOTE ]
This was what I was wondering about APP/PPP's. Why not bump them up to 6 powers per pool. Keep the original powers for those that have builds built around concepts, and add in the new, more 'useful' powers as options.
The only reason I can think of is that APP/PPP's and normal Power Pools are hard coded in as being 4 powers, and the work involved in expanding pool sizes would be unreasonably large in comparison to the benefit.
I'm not personally impressed by several of the changes, myself, as my Archery/EM/Elec blaster's losing his ranged hold, my SS/Invuln/Soul Brute is losing his 'assistant' (90% theme reasons I'm annoyed by that, 10% usefulness), Focused Acc is getting gutted, IMO (changing from +20% tohit to +5% Tohit +30ish% Accuracy (unslotted)) is NOT a zero sum game in PVE as they seem to be claiming. Try hitting a high defence mob with ~+7.5% tohit slotted, compared to ~30% from the current FA (I'm thinking of Behemoths in a team situation, Rikti Drones, Capn Mako in the STF, Harlequin Fencer's that have got Parry off, various others, too). I think I can see why they've done it, but it bears all the hallmarks of PvP impacting PvE, and I really, REALLY don't want to start that old chestnut again.
I [u]DO[u] like the changes to MM upgrade powers. It'll massively reduce the time lag experienced by MM's at the start of missions. And since my MM is Staminaless and has his upgrades heavily end cost slotted already, it'll be a buff for him.
Sorry, I'm starting to rant. I haven't had a chance to actually play the changes yet, I'm reacting off gut feeling. And unfortunately, my gut is sending me little reminders from the days of I5, saying 'you're going to have to change how you play, again'
At this point, I'll just refer any readers to my sig and leave any further comment until later, if ever, once I've discussed it with other people to get their take on it.
:edit:
Post from Lighthouse.

Hey gang,
We've been following closely the feedback and reactions to Open Beta. One of the chief points of discussion has resolved around the changes to Hero Epic and Villain Patron power pools.
We wanted to let you know that the Development Team is working on additional refinements, based in part on player feedback, to those changes. The team wants to have some rounds of internal testing to make sure what we are proposing will work before we present it to you, but in talking with Castle and Positron, they want let you know about it soon.
So, thanks for your continued support and interest and stay tuned for more information!
[/ QUOTE ]
That'll teach me to remember that beta means that things can still change. However, based on long and cynical experience, I'm not expecting major alterations during public Beta.
Anyway, more waiting game to play. -
[ QUOTE ]
Much as I still enjoy CoH/V, I'm finding these days that I really have far too much going on in my life to fit gaming in. Since I can't see that changing in the foreseeable future I don't really feel I can justify carrying on paying for a subscription for a game I'm not playing.
So, it's been fun - thanks to everyone here for helping to make it that way. I expect I'll turn up online once or twice between now and when my subs run out to say goodbye to folks.
Have fun!
[/ QUOTE ]
Dammit.
Mind you, I thought I hadn't seen much of you recently.
Well, good luck, Tundra. Try not to work too hard, enjoy whatever you do that isn't work, and Lifeline and myself will probably still be around if you decide to pop back now and then. Shout on the Globule channel if/when you pay a visit -
[ QUOTE ]
Did it with a cold defender and a ff. Capped defence and benumb on healing nictus made romulus go down pretty fast.
[/ QUOTE ]
Capped defence means nothing to the Miring Essence. It's autohit for 670ish damage, and it was the Mire essence that was causing us most grief.
Cunning plans were tried and failed repeatedly. The non-cunning Pet Zerg failed.
We tried Snow Storm on all essences to keep them at ground level while we dragged Romulus up higher. No luck. The Essences ignored the -fly.
In the end we had enough brick wall/head interfacing and gave up and went to do some thing less frustrating. We went and did Maria Jenkins AV missions until we were less irritated.
Infernal was the unlucky first target. He never stood a chance.
Anyway. This Sunday will be a repeat of the ITF, with a few changes.
I'll be tanking on Tufa, and a couple of others will be bringing alts.
We'll have one or two spare places, depending on if Echo turns up or not.
Of course the most annoying bit is that the TF up until Romulus was a complete cake walk. Ah well, live and learn.
This Sunday will be one of 2 ITF's, in order to get all of this weeks team the badge/cossie pieces. This week I'm tanking on a non Cold Front toon, and support will be from another couple of people on non-CF alts. The week after the people who alted previously will be on CF toons, and the others will be alting as appropriate.
