Like BillZ, I don't trust database jiggery-pokery.
I've yanked everything still unsold from my lesser played alts, which means it hadn't sold after months of being listed, in most cases.
My three active market toons are still going, but at some point over the weekend I'll shut them down and clear their slots.
This, of course will be no great loss to the markets, as all I do is buy common salvage and supply generic IO's... -
Yep, knackered for me.
Also, there's an expired security certificate on one of the store urls.
Type /buy_coh from in game and I get this in Firefox :
Code:And trying to go to www.plaync.com gets a 'Problem loading page' response from Firefox.secure.plaync.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for secure.ncsoft.com (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)
There's something not overly happy about the games webpages, but I'm not sure at the moment if it's tied into the maintenance/nuking of the boards. -
I'd like the Friends list window to bleedin' well remember that I set it to Global Friends, expanded view, sorted by Status.
Having to do that every damn time I log onto a different alt is somewhat of an irritation. -
Quote:I don't agree. As I understand it, the experiment is to see how long it will take Archie to hit the inf cap. To get some sort of generally applicable rule about how long it takes to hit the cap would take a statistically terrifying number of runs there, and that's not what this is about as I read it.Okay....Im not knocking what youre doing...but this windfall is going to invalidate this....I know, gah, I can hear myself and even I want to punch myself in the face (if youre a brute, does that build double fury?).
One of the hurdles to overcome is the first nest egg to build with. Its easy to make inf when you have inf. Its that first couple million that are a pain. A 180 million inf mistake is not something you can count on everytime. The naysayers are going to jump on that...if they bother to read at all
And since market conditions fluctuate constantly then a lucky windfall is just that, lucky. It could happen to anyone, and it happened to me several times while I was taking the long road to the inf cap. I sold a few (very few) level 50 generic IO's at 10 million each. WELL over the going rate. Does that mean my hitting the cap is invalid?
Anyway, since the journey to the cap is being documented then I personally see no problem, and the people who complain about inf being too hard to make were never going to be convinced by this sort of experiment anyway. -

Quote:Thank you, I shall treasure it always. Unless I can sell it at a good sized profit...Wow grats. First time I've seen a marketeer reach the caps selling commons. So you get the special edition ebil marketeer badge.
It just goes to prove that there's not one approved way of making inf, sorry, Ebil Marketeering. Not that that is news to anyone reading this section of the boards.
I reckon I can average 3-10 million inf/day from Common IO's, although it can be very variable. I've been sat for a week with all my slots full of IO's that just won't sell, then they'll all vanish overnight.
<shrug>
Patience is a virtue, when it comes to the market. (and if you try to hit the cap from commons, then you need a certain degree of idiocy, too)
That said, I've pulled in about 60-70 million this last weekend, just from Common IO's. I long since gave up trying to predict the behaviour of common IO sales. Make 'em up, list 'em and wait. And while waiting, go play the rest of the game.
(I was also stupid enough to get the old Fabricator badge... About two or three months before the requirements were reduced by half <facepalm, headdesk>) -
The markets have been laggier than a plumber's basement for me since they were 'maintained' (I think they maintained them with a 2 1/2lb lump hammer, personally), and tonight on a couple of occasions, they just plain stopped responding for several minutes at a time.
I'm not sure what's up, but they don't seem overly healthy. -
Pointless challenges to yourself number 37(b).
"I wonder if I can get my two mains to the cap before Going Rogue lands?"
Apparently so. So where do I get the official "Evil Marketeering Scum!" badge from?
Not deliberately a month apart, but odd how it worked out like that.
I took the long way round. I made and sold Generic level 50 IO's with the benefit of Field Crafter, as well as selling salvage/recipe drops from playing the game. I didn't bother with any of the 'fancier' tricks like AE Bronze rolls/Flashbacks/Flipping/whatever else.
And yes, it took a while to get there (I've been slowly creeping toward the cap for well over a year, but I was in no hurry.), but I've had to trim about 300M off my blue side main since he capped out, so it's still coming in at (to me) a respectable rate. And since it takes me about 2-3 minutes per toon upon logging in/out of the game, it's no real time/effort drain, which is a bonus.
It's been interesting popping in here occasionally to lurk, see how other people are making silly amounts of inf rapidly and then completely ignore the example and carry on my own sweet way -
Quote:5 screenshots. Three of which tell you that the powerset *can* be recoloured using power customisation. There is a new powerset called Kinetic Melee.
It has 9 powers in it.
Secondary Effects are KB/KD and Stun.
Kinetic Melee hits do Damage Debuff to enemies which then Damage Buff you.
The Build Up power for the set magnifies this Debuff/Buff effect for a short duration.
There is no other useful information concerning this powerset at this time.
Enjoy 3 screenshots that tell you the default color for this powerset is yellow.
Also, all the information you mentioned is information that wasn't known before for certain, so what exactly is the problem? Just shy of three weeks time and people who've bought the expansion will get to experience it firsthand and see how it plays. -
Quote:Shame this game isn't a race. And neither are veteran rewards. In much the same way as racing against someone when they get a substantial headstart is completely fair.
I'm quite happy with the way veteran rewards are set up, but then I seem to have a little more patience than a lot of people playing this game.
The veteran rewards are just that, rewards for having been a long term subscriber. All you need to do to catch up with a particular reward is to subscribe and wait. Just like the people who already have the reward did.
And hey! You get a whole MMO to play in while youre waiting! Imagine that!
<exits stage left, before his cynicism gets the better of himself> -
It's in the RWZ, it doesn't matter if you're red or blue side, it's a co-op zone.
Quote:Are talking about how you can walk inside that base? Or just villain group basses in general?
Alternatively, you can just explore the SW corner of the RWZ and ignore the slight spoiler above -

I got round the costume creator issue by downloading FRAPS and setting up its screenshot function.
<shrug>
Works for me. -
Talos appears to be back up and functional again.

Quote:Did that about an hour and a half ago, no response yet, not even a 'we got your petition' email.I'd wait about 10-30 minutes and check agian. If it's still happening, log on to a different character on the same server, and send a /petition with the names of the characters that you can't get back on to (and server!). A GM should be able to help you.
Talos is still not working, toons parked in there cannot be logged on to, and if you try, then you have to kill the client and get the 'Character is currently logging out' when you try again to log in.
Oh, and a friend of mine is apparently online simultaneously with four different toons, all on the same account, according to search... -

You know, the only downside I can see to this is that if the market's getting reset, then the minority of people who are using bids on level 51 and greater recipes/IO's to store excess inf will need to yank their bids off the market and convert them to some form they can store, or Gleemail (what the hell, it's now sanctioned terminology
) it to a bank alt. Or three, depending on how far past the inf cap they are.
This also holds for people close to the inf cap who also have bids posted and items listed where refunds could take them over the cap. Make sure you've got space in your bank balance for any refunds.
Unless of course the inf cap's going up, but I consider *that* unlikely.... Then again, I considered a market merge unlikely...
That said, Thank You.
Thank you for the ongoing game that I'm still enjoying after 5 and a bit years. Thank you for keeping the game refreshed. Thank you for appearing to listen to what the playerbase wants and implementing things that make sense.

Quote:Depending on which codec you're trying to go from and to, http://handbrake.fr/ may be worth a look.Just bought the fraps video recorder [the thread in GD gave me the inspiration] and trying to convert the HUGE file via virtual dub [frabs says thats the best way]. However the projected time is roughly an hour just to compress, is there a faster way to do so?
Reason i ask is because i need something to keep me entertained before GR [yes im getting the pre issue blues already!] and recording missions and uploading them to websites will keep me entertained for a good while.
Any help welcome as i am a total noob at this
However, compressing video from an uncompressed source file is a non-trivial computation task, so it may just be that it'll take that long on your PC. -
Quote:I think the point is that it's easy for experienced players to forget that the content they've breezed through dozens of times has another face that less experienced players see.I'm not exactly sure what to take away from this other than you had the bad luck to endure a sucky ITF. I've been on my fair share of ITFs, and they're always PUGs; I think once, two people knew each other. I've never had a failed ITF and it's never taken longer than an hour and some change. Shrug.
Congrats if you've never failed an ITF, but there are people out there who, through real life intervening, team makeup, inexperience or whatever can and will fail stuff like the ITF, LGTF, STF or other high level content. -
Quote:I don't know about critters, but my Robotics pets are still charging into melee on a regular basis. I had my Assault Bot charge a boss last night, just to stand at point blank and unload a Plasma Blast into it, Battle Drones are constantly edging towards mobs, and don't get me started on what happened when I set my pets to Goto/Aggressive with their target location at my current position.
General
- Fixed a bug that caused many critters with ranged attacks to change behavior and prefer melee range, including Rikti Drones and most Mastermind pets. Critters should behave as they used to again.
I was constantly (virtually) yelling 'Get the hell back here!' to my pets. It's making life thoroughly annoying for a Bots/Traps MM that's played relying on keeping targets the hell away from me and my pets for the last 4 and a bit years.
Yes, I've /bug'd it, just felt the need to vent a little, as I've regularly had this toon made too annoying to play by various glitches/bugs over the years. You'd have thought I'd be used to it by now, really... -
IIRC, Rabbit, the test server can take 24-48 hours to sync up its database, so you may need to wait a day or two until you can get access to the test server. Mind you, I'm not sure if a trial account gets you test server access or not.
