I started a thread exactly like this one a while back when a similar thing happend to me ... I'll re-tell the story,
My first encounter with PVP, a friend who is a avid pvp'r finally convinced me to join him in a trip to SC. We enter the zone and within 10 seconds find a large group of heroes villains ... a quick glance and yes I can see "horror of horrors" one of my comrades ... a hero in arms being attacked by a villain ... so I, being a hero, rush to his aid.
Within 2 seconds I'm being called an Idiot and many other things I wish I'd petitioned for now.
So now would you like to explain to me, how that is right? How what I was doing was wrong? I knew nothing about duels before that day ... I always thought pvp duels were something that you did in the Arena (which is where they should be). On entering the PVP zone I expected to be attacked and to have to attack people ... I didn't expect that attacking to be verbal.
Suffice it to say I finished that session very shortly there after and have never been back to PVP since. Yes I have been put off, and as long as threads like this one keep appearing in the forums I won't be making a move to try again as clearly things haven't improved.
The argument above that by breaking up a duel I was being selfish or thick headed just doesn't apply as I had no idea there was a duel ... if a broadcast message was sent out I entered the zone after it happened ... and if I had seen the message I wouldn't have known what a duel was anyway!! -

EDIT: gets ready for Grav/ etc. to tear him a new one. I have never played Grav ... or earth, or Ice) so I can't comment on them for soloing purposes...
[/ QUOTE ]
ROFL!! Am Grav/Rad here, don't bother trying to solo it until it gets over 40 with the epics. The holds do little damage and Propel whilst it's cool and does some good damage, takes too long to fire and then recharge to be any use. You might be able to do it with some of the fighting power pools but that defeats the exercise really.
And I'm sure someone will come and say that they have solo'd a grav/rad troller all the way from -199 to infinity, and I'm sure you could do it .... but how many hours did it take, i'm sure you could also solo all the way to 50 using only Brawl, but would you want to?
Having now knocked my build to bits .... on a team grav/rad is great fun to play, not nearly as spectacular as some of the others as the animations are subtle, but effective. -
Except that you can only activate QF once in human form, so it may be too late to hit the button once you have switched ... I'll try it out later and let you know how it went ... may take the form of a /tell saying I'm on my face
if it does work though it would be a pretty effective use of the power, also would give you the option to leg it as well.
-
Yep,
I read the description of the power last time I leveled my PB and thought ... wow, that'd be really cool, so I took it.
It failed to say at the end of the description, Ha ha only joking.
It has been a waste of a power for me, i'm sure there is some way to use it effectively, I just haven't figureds that out yet -
I'll be there, and I have a new hami costume too
Learned from last time .... flying heroes shouldn't wear skirts!!
It's nice to actually be around for one, Mondays are terrible for me. -
Good luck!!
Be careful with them chords. -
Good picture
Callista is off to make it into a wanted poster right away, dastardly villains!! -
Thanks to everyone who listened before, like any artist I couldn't leave it alone.... I've found a wonderful function on my music software called "pitch change" that means I could re-sing it without my larynx trying to forcibly leave my body!!
It's the same url but it sounds (at least to me) a bit better now
Clicky again!! -
Crikey,
you beat me to it :S
I had some lyrics and was mucking about with my cheap headset mic for timings etc.
I'll let you hear that so you can decide if you actually want any of my words etc. There isn't a lot of point me carrying on for the time being i'll let you co-ordinate what you want first
Let me know if you want me to do any parts properly and I'll get my decent kit out and do it for you.
My Effort
Lyrics:
It's update time
There's no need to be affraid
At update time
Statesman promised no sweeping change
But in our world of heroes
We know better than that
My tanker with full shields ...
Has just died
And I dispair
Now my tankers on the run
It's update time
We're all supposed to be having fun
There's a city full of heroes
And it's a world of debt and fear
Where the only person you'll see
Is running shouting heal
And we'll all remember good times
Of the mighty hero powers
Well tonights the update and so we're screwed
And there'll be no fun in paragon by Christmas time
The greatest power we'll have by then is brawl, oooh
Where no hero ever goes
In case a villain shows
Do they know it's supposed to be a game? -

the fact I'd spent a couple of hundred quid on a painting of two computer game characters would condemn me to geekhood for eternity

Ah, erm .... erm ....
*whistles whilst walking away* -
Ah I like the forum one, nice changes. I'd be up for helping out with the nerf aid song if you need any ... hopefully I can sing something not so horribly out of my range as the last song I did!!
-
thanks for that guys
I have to admit the tune is one our band has played a lot, even the lyrics are similar as it's called "City of Angels", I just thank them for letting me use it. If you are interested our website is http://killingamber.co.uk there are some more tunes you can hear there for download. -
Hullo,
I wrote this song for the COH one year competition but upon reading the rules you have to transfer the copyright to NCSoft, which I won't do as the music belongs to my band. Special thanks to my band who allowed me to re-lyric one of our songs for this.
Also be warned this is why you shouldn't let a bassist sing!!
CoH Song
Lyrics are:
You give me a reason to make me need you
My hero i'm so close to you
It's the city of heroes we live in
Where everyone fights for you
Thats where the city cries tonight
Thats where the heroes try tonight
And still they call on you
They always make the same mistakes
And still they fall for you
Yea
Going to go back to where it all began
When the heroes came and the villains ran
Thats where the city shines tonight
Thats where the heroes fight for right
And still they call on you
They always make the same mistakes
And still they fall for you
Yea
The city in which we're born in
The city in which we're crying
The city in which we're falling
Is the the city in which we're trying
And still they call on you
They always make the same mistakes
And still they fall for you
Yea -
Yes I think it does, if you target a minion you'll probably get just him, go for a boss he'll bring friends.
-
and I'm on the right .... erm ... looking the wrong way
-
Gratz,
I'm guessing you managed to get most of the badges as well!! -
I'm sure I have seen this thread go past before but I have hunted for it for ages and can't find it. Does anyone have a good back story for their character? An idea of where they came from and their motivations?
Here is mine:
Ka'li was born to faeries, the tiny people who are never seen. Shortly after her birth, as her family was passing through Paragon City a group of Banished Pantheon discovered them and destroyed her parents. Without care Ka'li was as good as dead and was abandoned on a rooftop.
A powerful wizard and hermit Listeer, passing by on the streets below later that day felt the dwindling life force and magics of this tiny creature. Feeling compassion and kinship he took her from the rooftop and fed and nourished her in his magic.
Fifteen years passed and Listeer lived on the streets with his tiny companion, as Ka'li grew in age she also grew in awareness of her powers. Listeer realised that his life remaining was short, he also knew that his tiny Faerie companion would not be able to survive without his support. Listeer poured the last of his tremendous powers and essence into one last spell and was no more. His spell combined his energy and knowledge with that of Ka'Li and she grew, as she grew her wings disappeared and she became more human in appearance. Her powers mingled with his and changed, from her own knowledge the powers of Gravity, from his radiation control.
Ka'Listeer was born a being of great potential. She soon re-discovered the power of flight without wings and developed a deep understanding of the duality of her nature. Strong and understanding with great forthought from the powerful mage. And a willful, playful and mischevious side from her faerie blood. At 29 Callista has reached a great peace within herelf, she has reached the pinnacle of her powers and dedicates her time to the streets of Paragon, the only home she ever had. -
Yes, it happens if you put the portal too close to the wall, try moving it a bit further into the room and you should be ok!!
Or try typing /stuck if you still get stuck. -
We tried it at the weekend, I think it's still broken, the whole team get booted as soon as you click on elk head. Damn them woodsmen and their funny ways!!
-
Don't forget they teach sex education in primary school. perhaps we should write to the minister for education and ask for it to be changed to "Generic Human Interaction" education in case anyone gets upset.
This is a case of someone getting a little over zealous with the name changing, if it was my SG I suspect i'd be rightly miffed by that. -
I have found the best tactic to use for getting the thing to tank is to summon it right in the middle of the mob you want it to agro.
You seem to have much better range on where you can summon it than you do on recall Friend. I always found that by the time i'm close enough to recall friend into the mob, and be sure it's not coming right back to sit by me, the mob have spotted me anyway.
I normally only use this if I'm fighting a mob with several bosses or an AV to take the alpha strikes. Dreck for example 2 shot fluffy this weekand a big mob will kill it in seconds.
I have also noticed that bad guys 'preffer' to target you, so as soon as you make a move against an enemy they will change focus to you and ignore your pet. Hence I suggest being wary of any AoE's, once you get agro the pet never seems to get it back.
Lastly if you are travelling I'd recommend de-summoning the damned thing, it has a nasty habit of stopping off on the way to agro a few mobs and brings them with it. Like a cat brining you presents!!
Nothing is worse than seeing your singularity popping around a corner looking all pleased with itself only to see the next second 3 mobs following it. -
And Callista
Grav, Rad, Fire controller -
If there is a plan afoot I volounteer to be wholy involved with ... no shirking at least until the debt cap is well and truly met ... look me up on Defiant if you need me!!
Even if the plan is lets munch some DE and see what happens. -
Hiya,
I wouldn't be able to join your SG but i'll always help out when it comes time to mash the jelly.
