Her shoe is untied... Never a good idea to go into battle with untied shoes!
nice arts though! -
Well I'd prefer voting on dA if a way to keep voting to group members could be found...
I think the art should definitely be hosted there, both so the artist can have a bit more freedom if needed and so that it can all be found in one place without going through tons of chatter to find one piece or another...
The only problem I see with the art on the CoH Group is I believe Wassy wanted to extend the freedom a bit more than would be accepted on these boards and from the sounds of it you also want to keep the CoH Group on dA just as workplace friendly....? -
Quote:Um ... that's what I *meant*, Caemgen. Ya! Really! Just nomming with my ... um ... eyes! Dont want my tummy upset.
Besides, there was that incident awhile back when I thought that scented markers were *flavored* ... was I *ever* wrong! (*baleful caterwaul*)
BTW, I really like that "ohko2" picture with the 3 peeps and the robot!
Ok, ok... well let's just avoid another marker mistake then, ok??
(tossing you an Amerisnackk to tide you over to supper...) -
Quote:I tend to be more of a pessimist and suspicious of people on general principle... Toss in that I heard at least three seperate complaints of various... err, questionable actions... during my various Commission Contests and I can't help but look for the angles people may take.Again, I believe we're a solid enough community (hopefully i'm not being too idealistic/optimistic) that participants won't try any douchy shenanigans.
I actually believe the vast majority are good, honest people with integrity - It's a suprising change from the last game I played - but the problem is it only takes 1 to really throw in that monkey wrench. -
I was assuming polling limited to members...
As Bayani says, I don't suspect there'd be much (if any) creating of accounts just to vote until maybe the end when things get tightStill doubt there would be but *shrug*
But with wide open polling that does lead to the artist with the most watchers having an advantage, no? -
Quote:I'm big on this idea...OK, voting community at large, your FArt Admin needs your input.
A City of Heroes group was recently set up over at deviantART. We've set up a section for 2010's FArt Competition, because its a great way to organize, archive, and (most importantly) display the entries to the interwebz! This also comes with the awesome bonus of us being able to use the polling feature to run the voting, which is very VERY handy.
I just want to know... do you all think it will be a huge problem for you to go to the page to vote rather than vote here? Accounts are free to set-up if you don't have one. This will also help the lurkers who no longer have an active gaming account. But I do recognize that this is the competition's home, so want your thoughts.
Looking forward to input!
I think the vast majority of the active (even actively lurking) people here have accounts there and, as you said, it is free. The one drawback I do see is that... It is free. I could set up X number of accounts and if we're not requiring a CoH forum name to joing the dA group there's no stopping them all from joining and voting...
Still, I don't think many would do that (or maybe I just hope) and I think that danger is at least levelled off, if not outweighed, by the voting being anonymous. It won't stop people voting for the artist they're friends with but it will stop them for voting for friends just because the friends would see if they didn't... (hopefully this pressure isn't actively applied but we're human so there's always at least some subtle unconscious pressure of this type.) -

Rhardo rocks... Love his stuff.
And Omi (spidey) is awesome as well so that should be totally awesome once he colorizes it....
Congrats. -
Just wait until the other 15 come in
Or the 8 maybes... (Well, not exactly maybe's but arts from people who weren't sure they could pull off the characters and insisted on waiting to take payment til they did sketches...) Oh, and 3 sketch cards too....
But I have slowed down... or am going to slow down... or... well, yeah. -

Maybe it was you but it was remembering someones dolphin costume that as posted in Best Costume Design in the Screenshots forum that got me thinking of that line
-
Couple new pieces came in the mail just recently...
My three mains (Fenian, Alpha and Caemgen) by JR Schiller of StudioCultComics http://studiocultcomics.deviantart.com/
And here is Daybreaker Alpha by lukedenby http://lukedenby.deviantart.com/ - I really dig his rough style and cannot wait to see what he does with Caemgen and Fenian... In fact he wanted me to choose between two different Fenian sketches he did and both looked so cute I'm trying to get him to squeeze me into line and do both

Quote:If you go to the group page, click you're own avatar in top left corner, you get a little menu with one of the options being to leave the group...Bayani:
Can I get a BOOT from the group? And then a NEW invite for my NEW account?
I believe there is also a button somewhere to JOIN the group if you're not yet a member and then the founder would just have to OK that join request...
Haven't poker around too much yet though so that last part could be wrong. -
Well I'm too disorganized to be of any help but I can say I would use something like that. I have one character who doesn't consider herself so much as a super powered hero who can protect the world so much as just someone with a bit of power whose willing to protect her neighbors... Frankly the big name villians scare the crap out of her... So far
actually what I would love to see would be the ability to level entirely against one group... Or at least similar groups. To be able to have a hero who spent their entire career (1-50) fighting the skulls and hellions, or fighting the family. Fenian's backstory is all about how she has a hate on for the family... Another alt, Daybreaker Alpha, would pass up many more noble deeds for a chance to put the hurt on Crey...
But a resource that would help me keep them at least within the power levels I see them having would be cool.... -

I have no idea what you're talking about!
(That's my story and I'm sticking to it!) -
-
You get a big thumbs up for this!
I'll not take you up on it personally, I've been getting plenty o art for myself and would rather the less art having have that much a better shot at it, but bravo for spreading the arts!! -
Quote:You hire an art goddess who can log into CoH and recreate your costume so they can see exactly what they need.Sure, but how am I supposed to get model sheets if people can't read my screenshots, huh Smartypants??
Maybe I'll draw my own. Stick figure model sheets!
I actually have a little list of "Quirks that the game can't replicate" for two of my three characters that I mention whenever hiring an artist... I suppose an accurate reference sheet would be easier... And keep me from forgetting parts of the list! -
Quote:I could ruin a couple people fun and enter... And garauntee nobody else is the first voted off the art island!!! Mwuahahaha!I don't think we really need an actual sign-up.... whoever submits when I bring up the January theme (separately) will be automatically entered.
I just wanted to get the word out early that this will be starting right away in January, and to get any suggestions on running it/themes/whatever =) -
Quote:Ya... she's under mind control, so when she's inactivated, she's a puppet without a puppeteer. Dollhouse totally stole my character design, and I should have words with Joss Whedon =P
I'll have a whole bio thingie up when the colored version is done.
I was SO thinking dollhouse when I first saw this but assumed this predated the show... You should definitely look into getting some royalties at least
fantastic job, can't wait to see it after it gets the swanzariffic colorizing treatment.
My question is - do you talented art people prefer these kind of model sheets over either ones made from screenshots or just galleries of pics? -
Amerikatt - devour with eyes only!! Actual noming of Cashoo arts leads to upset tummies and no more pretties to look at...
fox - get in line!! -
So that means at least 25 more to come, right?
Right????
Woot!!!!! -
Quote:True enough.Loyalty can be defined in many different ways
Time is one.
Resisting temptations is another . . . . . .
Though CoH certainly didn't not-reward those who dipped their wick in another game yet continued playing here as well. I don't think Mrs. Woods would call that loyalty
All in all, I'm not a beta tester, I'm not a badger... I could care less about the goodies. Still, I understand some peoples frustrations over this even if I am a bit tired of the complaining.
Loyal can be someone who is always there.
Loyal can be one who does not stray.
Loyal can be one who always returns.
Loyal can also be one who doesn't overlook someone just because of a minor lapse...
Like I said, my only problem is with the name of the program/badge - I'd like to think loyalty was a two way street. -
Overall I think these work better as is...But lack a little of the charming whimsy of the previous ones... Though that may just be due to the roughness of the pencils and whatnot.
I really like the Matchstick pic. Anyway you could amke the snowman look more like Frosty? Frosty always annoyed me!
As for the VexXxa/Neko pic...Errr, I mean that in a good way though!! Personally I'd say stick with the gingerbread man... It suits the season, it ties into the joke that was made earlier by (forget who), you get the worried look on it that Neko will get him... As for going with a candy cane - Errr, is it possible to be too naughty??
