Approximately a year long competition... People get whiddled away each month until just 1 champion stands.
Sorry, you missed getting in by about a week... There's been some talk of people winning their way back in once eliminated but I don't know if there has been talk about newcomers getting in after the start -
To me it reads that the category is Pin-Ups and that Romance is but an alternate theme for those with moral objections to the real theme...
As for voting, with this many entrants I think a 3pt, 2pt, 1pt system could work well until the ranks get thinned a bit... Each voter would award 3 to their first choice, 2 to their second and 3 to their final selection.. With three votes each we should have a bare minimum of peeps with NO votes at all. It would also make it possible for someone to not get the most overall votes but still win a month, which would be fun -
You posted it just fine
. Pretty much the only "rules" are make sure the image isn't too racy for the boards, try to make the image a decent size for viewing and to give credit to the artist - you seem to be in compliance!
Very nice art, btw... I really had an urge to jump on those commissions by him but have impost a commissioning fast upon myself. Anyway, that came out looking great and I love the peace sign on the front of the shield... Seems like it's probably both appropriate and ironic at the same time -
Best of my recollection: Even someone with immunity must submit a qualifying piece or be eliminated.
There was some talk of possibly winning your way back in this year but not sure if Wassy ever got behind that idea or if so how shell run that part...
Theme question: What if we are not deeply, morally opposed to pin ups (and in fact enjoy the heck out of them!) but just feel our talents are better suited for the "alternate" theme of romance?
I think I have a pretty good concept on a romance piece of art that I may even pull off halfway decently... But I must be honest and admit I have no moral qualms. I'll try and tackle pin ups if the only out from it is a morality one... -
Potential problem with lowest total vote count is I could easily see several of us having no votes at all after month 2... Unless people vote for themselves to avoid such...
Are we allowed to vote for ourselves??? I'd suggest no... -
Have to go with Lousy_Day this month...
I would have liked to have seen some visual clue (besides what I'm told is a Vancouver cityscape) that this was connected to the Olympics, but then again, being a guy, as far as I'm concerned there is no figure skating outside of the OlympicsBesides, several other pieces also didn't visually specify the Olympics either...
All the "big name" artists from the forum really brought the heat this month and it wasn't an easy choice... I had 5 entries all pretty much neck and neck.. But the deciding factor for me was that Lousy_Day's piece wasn't just art- It was a epic art. You feel the loneliness in the piece even if you don't know who the character is. You see the beauty of the dance even if you're not a fan of figure skating. -
Quote:From here on out I am going to refer to him as Mr. MonkCool stuff!
side note - CR your uncanny ability to notice the smallest details is well.... uncanny! I had to go back 3 times to figure out where CDs even came into the picture much less Final Fantasy 2. Don't fret people! It's in there!
Cool Stuff! -
Quote:True... I was kind of assuming it was the rest of it that wasn't finished off yet. Except for the one small troublesome spot the rest of this segment looks top notch and finished to meHe did say it was nowhere near finished... I imagine that is only his first pass.

Heh, I did slide that one to the left just so she wouldn't be a sexpot character
-
I'm intrigued!!
Very, very nice... And excellant work on the knotwork generally, though it is a bit wrong in the center where the flesh shows through... -
I'd say but the theme out ASAP to give people as much time to work on it as possible - More time means better arts, except in my case
Also don't think it would detract from the voting since there's not all that much chatting about the topic generally except to raise questions that all may be interested in seeing answered... -
Wow, I really don't recall that at all
Though looking at the time stamp on the post, looks like right after I woke up and I probably wasn't awake yet...
So just how half naked you planning on making these? If you wouldn't be having her much more naked than she is here
and you'd be open to running what you plan on having her do past me first, we may be able to work something out... but I'm very hesitant to give total control of her over to anyone else without some kind of verto power over things and I'm really shocked I said ok earlier... -
Quote:http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=193630 is the link to The Network which Juggy was referring to...Take a look at the top of this forum section. There's a great list there that TA put together.
Or... you could just click on my art page and see if ya dig anything. -

deadlines the 26th to submit your toon... Fenian girl is only toon so far.. (( im gonna stick deviousmes and matchsticks toons in though ))

*sob*.. I cant find Fenian girls link for her toon shoots :*(
Hey now! I didn't sign Fenian up for this!
While I really like the pic you did of Fenian for the Xmas Angels, I generally try not to go with cheesecake or overly sexy images with Fenian. Despite the fact that her first costume was on the flesh showing side, Fenian doesn't really try to portray an overly sexy image... The original concept for the more clingy outfit was that it was something she could wear under her street clothes but she's since learned a little magic spell which allows her to conjure up more conservative outfits and she's much happier with those.
Not that I am opposed to her occasionally being seen in a more T&A shot but I don't want that to be the main image of her...
And on a less visual note, I don't think I'm comfortable with someone else writing stories about her, specially since I haven't even fully fleshed out or written down her backstory yet...
If you wanted to use her for the occasionally guest appearance or such I would consider it but I'd want some imput on what she was doing, how she was acting and such before I ok'd it... Hope you understand...
As for screenshots of her for finishing her Xmas pic, they can be seen here: http://s26.photobucket.com/albums/c1.../Fenian%20new/
But best of luck on this comic book project and I would definitely be interested in reading it, following it... -
My only feedback would be: I have no idea what if anything happened.
-
Yep yep... We have enough entrants who really have a shot at making a run at this thing for the full year even without the "also rans" like me
Now if only everyone stays imn and doesn't let RL make them drop out, it'll be an amazing contest! -
-
CR, I'm sure you used your infinite coercion skills to get David Nakayama to enter... Right? That's the big suprise, right??? RIGHT????
Wassy. =3 errr, what's that supposed to be? To my way overtired brain it looks like, errrr, a male stick and his chestnuts??? -
Quote:errr, is it too late to withdraw from the contest? I thought there was going to be eliminations... I did not realize there were going to be executions!!!!Originally Posted by WassyWhat we actually vote on is your execution.

Sticking to the precise rules, entries need no powered beings meta humans aliens or the like... There are plenty of normal civilians walking around which are CoH characters... Does anyone really believe using just a couple of these normal pedestrians would fulfil the spirit of the rule?
-
2nd edit: wow, my first edit got stuck in way the wrong spot - proof I should go to sleep & not edit posts on my mobile...
Well, CR's piece uses his actual CoH character...
As for myself, I'm glad I tire Jutal in at the last minute!
All in all though, I think the intention was kind of clear that characters that fit into CoX should be included and not that they had to be definite CoX ones...
To insist on characters that definitely existed would require people to prove they had a character that looked like their art (before they submitted it) or stick to canon characters... Proving you had the char before the art would be bothersome and using just canon chars would be overly restricted..
Edit:
Scoots, I actually have more connection in my piece than just Jutal... You are watching PNN (Paragon News Network), the show is call Paragon Today (I think today... Or did I go with tonight?) and Lord Recluse is mentioned in the scroll bar as having Etoille Islands boycott the games
Using characters that just fit in seems to follow the spirit of the rule to me where as the lack of a hot chick seemed an oversight or an ignoring of the rule and it's spirit... -
My sources have confirmed that it is no "fire imp" being used to light the Olympic torch but rather a Rikti Monkey. I am currently organizing the mobilization of all animal rights compaigners to protest this outrageous and inhuman cruelty to such a kind and noble...
errr, excuse me?
Aliens??
Nevermind. -
