Do NOT edit posts that contain entries to #1 or #2! If you do something like pick a number or letter that's already been used by mistake (or because they posted while you were writing or whatever) then simply post again, explain and rechoose. Edited posts are ineligible to win contest #1 or #2!!
Pffffft!! I'll let it go THIS TIME!
But all, try not to edit for entries containing #1 or #2 - I don't want to try to decide who really picked a number or letter first so the edited entry would be DQ'd... -
What the heck, looks like it's time to give away more arts... And this time the arts will be done by our very own WASSY!!
That's correct, now you too can get some Wassirific, Wastastic Wassy Art of your very own for the low low price of... NOTHING! If you can pass up an offer like this then you're obviously lost and in the wrong part of the forums!
Details on the exact product being given away can be found on Wassy's DA page here.
Still, I'll quote an important part:
Quote:So please know from the get go there will be a wait before you actually get the art, likely a long one... Looks like there's 8 spots between where she is now and where the ones from this contest are.PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THESE PIECES WILL NOT HAVE A LIGHTNING-FAST TURNAROUND TIME. Normally I finish up quick sales in a couple weeks, but that is not my goal for this one. I am still a full-time student, and school work will come first. But in light of that, PAYMENT WILL NOT BE REQUIRED UNTIL I ALERT YOU THAT YOUR PIECE IS READY TO BE SKETCHED. So if you want to have your piece in your hot little hands in a few days, hang tight until I open up commissions fully again in the summer
So... What is the contest?
Good question! I started posting before I even decided!Ok, let's see... I have 4 spots to give away so... 4 contests, right?
Contest 1 - The Alphabet Challenge!
To enter, each contestant must post a sentence composed entirely of words all starting with the same letter. If the letter chosen is the letter I have prepicked then they will win a free Wassy Art!
Example: Zack zapped Zeke. (This would be a good entry.)
Bad Example: Zack zapped a zebra. ("a" doesn't start with "z" so disqualified!)
Rules:
1) Each person can only enter this contest once every 48 hours so that we can perhaps get every letter done by a different person. And that is 48 hours from their last entry in this contest.
2) Each word must be spelled correctly and names should be "real" names that are used more often than obscure mythology or SciFi, etc... Final judge on this will be me.
3) Sentence can be as long or short as you wish but must make sense and have some relationship to proper English. Again, I am the final judge on this.
4) Other rules may or may not be added, retroactively or not, as I see the need... Hopefully I won't have to but I'm doing this on the fly and *shrug* who knows what obvious gaps I'm missing?
Contest 2 - The Numerical Cliche!
Tried and true, but that's no reason not to use it! Pick a number contest... I'll prepick a number between 0 and 101 (so all number from 1 to 100 are eligible...) and the first to guess it wins Wassy Art! (hmm, that should be trademarked...)
Rules:
1) 1 guess per person every 12 hours. That means you cannot pick a number again until 12 hours after the last time you picked. If you do, you are DQ'd. (Not to be too anal, I'll allow an approximate 10-15 minute leeway window)
2) Other rules may or may not be added, retroactively or not, as I see the need... Hopefully I won't have to but I'm doing this on the fly and *shrug* who knows what obvious gaps I'm missing? But c'mon, this one is simple and anyone breaking the rules must be trying to
Contest 3 - Time to be Creative!
Caemgen has a back story but no explanation! What I mean is that my character Caemgen has a backstory where he was born the way he is (natural origin) - He was a little furry red bouncing bundle of weirdness with a tail, litle nubby horns and even budding wings. Of course his father freaker out and thought he was a mutant... Baby Caemgen was tested and nope... Not a mutant gene about him. Next Daddy dearest assumed that Mommy had congress with demons or somesuch... But no go, all mystical experts agree that there is no magical aura about the kid at all. Daddy still stormed off in a tizzy and was never seen again though.
So... Why is Caemgen like he is? I've never quite tackled that question and was actually quite content not answering it. Still, I need a third contest so here we go:
Explain why Caemgen was born the way he was.
It doesn't need to be in story form. It doesn't need to be logical. It doesn't need to conform with any backstory I may or may not have in my head. It can be serious, comedic or philosophical... Basically anything you want.
Judging will be done solely by me... Probably. If I'm stuck on a couple maybe I'll put it up for vote to the public or grab a consultant or two who is no longer in the final running for this contest... I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. But basically I'm just looking for something cool, or interesting, or amusing or whatever. *shrug* Chances are I won't actually adopt the winner to my story of Caemgen so everything is fair game! (though I do reserve the right to adopt it...)
Rules:
1) This contest will run for as long as Conest 1 and 2 are still active. Once bith of those aew declared over, this one will be closed to new entries and I will start deciding... Which may take up to 24 hours.
2) One entry per person per 24 hours. (Once again, that's 24 hours since your last entry.)
3) Entries can be any length though I would suggest against writing a book... I'm not looking for the best written, just an idea or concept or something that happens to suit my fancy at the time. So anything from 1 word (Because!) to a paragraph or two. *shrug*
4) Other rules may or may not be added, retroactively or not, as I see the need... Hopefully I won't have to but I'm doing this on the fly and *shrug* who knows what obvious gaps I'm missing?
Contest 4 - Why you?
Premise is simple: Tell me why you should get a free Wassome Art by Wassy!
Be funny. Grovel. Praise me. Sell your sob story. Use astrology or numerology. Bribe me. Use your feminine wiles. (Sorry, male wiles need to choose a different route - trust me!) Whatever...
Basically just somehow let me know you're interested in the free art and I'll somehow choose. Frankly I couldn't think of a fourth unique contest so I'm punting and seeing what ya'all come up with!
Rules: Same as Contest #3
Quote:1) This contest will run for as long as Conest 1 and 2 are still active. Once bith of those aew declared over, this one will be closed to new entries and I will start deciding... Which may take up to 24 hours.

All entries will be posted in this thread.
You are solely responsible for making sure you follow the time limits of each contest. (48 hours between entries for contest #1 - The Alphabet Challenge. 12 hours between entries for contest #2 - The Numerical Cliche! 24 hours between entries for #3 and #4 - Be Creative! and Why You?)
One post can contain multiple entries (assuming your time limits are ok with that) but each entry should be labelled with the contest number. It should be obvious but *shrug*
Do NOT edit posts that contain entries to #1 or #2! If you do something like pick a number or letter that's already been used by mistake (or because they posted while you were writing or whatever) then simply post again, explain and rechoose. Edited posts are ineligible to win contest #1 or #2!!
Feel free to edit posts that contain entries to #3 or #4, up until I announce that they are closed, for such things as spelling or such... But please do not change the gist of the entry - If you think of a new or "better" idea just wait until you can next enter.
And... Umm... I'm sure I probably missed a thing or two? Any questions or clarifications needed please post here so I can answer or clarify for everyone.
(ok, did I confuse everyone enough? Maybe I should do 4 different posts but I don't want to clutter the board...)
And finally, I'd like to thank Wassy for 1) having such a great price for such great arts that allows me to do this and 2) Playing along and dealing with my nonsense! -
Doesn't appear so, no....
But they are doing amazing things with hormones and surgeries these days. -
Controller? Must be a girl...
. (a boy would obviously be a scrapper...)
congrats! -
RedFire - Thanks, some pretty cool pieces in there!

Quote:I velieve he means cannot (or why would it be unfortunately?)...Quick translation clarification:
Does this mean (excusez-moi franglais) you can pay (plus de Euros) or you cannot pay (n'Euros pas)?
He's done some pretty cool arts for others gratis before around here and is looking for sme arts from others of his OC... I suggested that perhaps he should ask about an art trade between him and some others around here. -
Ok, so who is running the midnight taskforce tonight??
-

I'm torn between two responses to Swanzies dropping out... Here's both, just choose whichever you prefer.
#1) Mwuahahahahahaha! My evil scheme of bombarding artists with so much work that they have to drop out and leave me the sole contestant and thus the 2010 FArt champion is proceeding exactly as planned!!!!!
#2) what?? But... But... But I'm supposed to get voted out this month!! You mean now everyone is going to have to suffer the torment of one of my arts yet again next month?? How can you be so cruel, Eddy... How????
But seriously man, very sad to hear you can't throw something together in time.. You know if it's my coloring jobs eating up time that I can wait til the end of the contest for you to finish them, right?? But, hard as it is for me to accept, I suspect your real life involves more than just coloring for me...
Anyway...
We could still have an elimination, tis up to Wassy... And I'd think eventually it would be best to start having some, drop outs or no. It would be a shame to allow this to become a mere endurance contest and if we continue with no eliminations or if it becomes to common, the real (ie not me) artists in this contest may start wondering why they're trying so hard instead of just coasting to the finals... -
Will try to improve this, it needs it, but I'm tired of struggling with it for today. Maybe tonight I'll go back to the original B&W and see what I can do there or maybe tommorow morning after work, before the hockey game I'll see what I can do... But if not, least it's something I can get officially eliminated with -
Yeah... I probably would have taken that up with the artist except these were pretty much a cheap, quickie, take 'em as they come kind of deal...
But Scoots, on the others if you feel like something needs fixing (and think you can fix it) then either go right ahead and do so or ask me about it if you prefer... I certainly cannot blame you for just going by the linework though
The stretch marks bother me less here than they could though. Since this has a kind of older comic book type feel to me I give more liberties than to a more realistic looking piece. -

It's time for the Skinvitational 2010!
After last year's fun and successful Skinvitational, it'd be silly not to have another go, right?
This year's edition will be something quite different however. Instead of an open-ended queue of art,
I'm going to offer a set number of slots. These slots
will be, depending on the number, organized into a calendar, suitable for printing, or for use as a
desktop background for your computer.
How it will work:
Price is a flat $??. For this, you will get:
- Your character featured in (at least) one high-quality piece
- A copy of the completed calendar in PDF and high-res JPG form
- The adulation of many
Rules:
- You agree to have your character featured in the completed calendar, which will be available for others to buy. You will get full collaborative input with myself as I do the pieces, as always.
- Characters must be in a state of (un)dress between almost fully-clothed to fully nude,
with nothing dirtier than you'd see in an
R-rated movie. (You know who I'm talking to!
Yes, YOU. For shame.) - Female characters only, please. (Others can
be included as background or additional participants, but I reserve final veto on any thrice-phallused dicksgirls with crab hands
and dog ears.) - No underage characters.
- If I think of another rule, I will add it and you
will like it!
I'm going to set a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 spots, to make the monthly breakup easy. Should you want more than one character in your piece, or want to team up with someone else, let me know in the note and we'll discuss it.
1. N'Tonic *Complete!*
2. *Taken*
3. *Taken*

I may see what I can do after work today and tommorow... Mainly because I feel like I came to school and told the teacher my dog ate my homework...
'sides, I don't think anything could be much worse than my first entry -
Quote:and saying all that with one syllable of sound isn't concise, poinant and informative??Unless I miss my guess that is a Hmm of "I now have a new artist who's gallery I must study in more detail to discern if they are worthy of commissioning since lately it seems I cannot give my money away." ...just a guess though.
edit so I don't have to double post...
Questions for those who look here:
Are there lurkers here interested in seeing the arts I get who don't watch me on dA? If so, cool... But if not, and everyone sees them over there anyway, I'm wondering if I should bother resizing to post here as well...
Question for everyone: I generally buy in three's, a piece for each character... So I usually wait to post them together rather than just throwing them up as they come in... Anyone have a preference either way?
Just curious... -
Thanks but unless it got someplace unimaginable in the cleaning, moving, etc (like under the bathroom sink or in the dryer) I've pretty much searched everywhere...
Actually though I felt a lot worse about a couple of art projects I had in high school... I (believe it or not) had a modicrum of talent back then and did some pretty decent projects... But it always seemed like the best always got screwed up by someone else in the class somehow. One I still seethe over was a Heath Bar done entirely in pointilism that took me forever! That thing had come out amazing and the day I got it back my freaking deskmate spilled the glass he was keeping his watercolor brushes in... Only a few drops got on that project but of course they were smack dab in the middle of it.
So anyway, this latest was nowhere near that quality (I should practice more, get back the old skills.. but won't happen. I be lazy) and at least if it's gone it's my fault and not some freaking moron I was forced to sit next to for and hour and a half every day in art just because his last name came after mine... -
By total coincidence, I happen to know a guy who knows a guy who happened upon a truckload of keyboards... And he'd be willing to let some go cheap!
(Funny how coincidences like this happen, isn't it?) -
