Without further ado, here I am -- star of stage, screen, and Saturday morning cartoons ... AMERIKATT!!!

((She's sweet, always optimistic, and a bit naive, but she's King's Row's first line of defense against the miscreants who try to take advantage of the city's citizenry, both furred and non-furred alike.

If you do use her for your comic, please remember that she's an actual cat (blue furred Russian Blue) who's wearing a costume. Granted, she's the most powerful kitten on Earth (she has the non-shapeshifting powers of a Peacebringer), but she doesn't speak English (although she understands the language -- and several others -- and will respond with a "Mew" as appropriate, but she'd be more realistically portrayed as using thought bubbles. In those cases, her inner monologue would read like the stereotypical Golden/Silver Age hero(ine)!

A more realistic depiction of her can be found in the photo below, as well as ChristopherRobin's excellent sketch in the sig.))

Really?? Well, ok, yeah really... But I mean is ALL construction paper this thin now?? When I was a kid I remember it was a step below cardboard. This colored crap I bought off of Amazon (Yes, I am so lazy that I ordered crayons and construction paper off Amazon rather than going to a store!) is weaker than paper...
  4. Hmmm, interesting idea, kind of moot now though. Taking the tape off would probably ruin the pic - the construction paper I bought was shockingly thin!
  5. Thanks all I tried to think up some way to artificially age the tape so it looked like it had been up for years but I couldn't think of any. *shrug*
  6. And the new art just keeps rolling in...

Here is another take on Fenian by Spidey0318 - He was running a pretty good deal so I gobbled up a ton of spots to give away to people who had LONG OVERDUE gift arts coming... Who knows, those gift arts may or may not come in some day but I just hate... well, not owing people but promising and not delivering? *shrug* anyway, after giving away the spots to the longest overdue I had a couple left so I treated myself

And why aren't you pushing yourself if you can do it? Nothing wrong with that as far as I see.

You were in the picture until a bit of ice cream melted, dripped off the cone and landed on your tail... Then the blob ate you just before the picture was taken!!
  9. Hmph, I didn't think Wagner was "Golden Age" style myself but then again I never paid much attention to Golden or Silver age as styles, I'm just a know what I like when I see it kind of guy

Anyway, most better artists could probably adapt their style to a bit more of a classic look if requested - it certainly wouldn't hurt to send them a note and ask what they thought about it.

As far as a lack of guys in artists galleries - That's been an annoyance for me ever since I started getting commissions done... But I've found that a LOT of the reason for that isn't because the artists cannot do guys but because the vast mjority of their reuests are for hot chicks... Thus the vast majority of their gallery is composed of such. I have found that the artists who really don't think they can successfully draw guys will let you know their concerns... So again, don't be afraid to send them a note and ask.

And like I said, I pay no attention to tyles other than if I like them or not, so I don't know exactly what you mean by Golden Age but I would suggest you check out TA's Resource here - it's a listing of artists taking commissions with thumbnails included... I'd be shocked if you couldn't find a couple on their who don't have a thumbnail or two close to the style your looking for.

I DQ'd myself last month for not including a hot chick. I know, I know - It seems like everyone was willing to let me count Alice as my hot chick but since when doing the picture I was totally thinking of my Alice as the original 7 and a half year old girl from the original book... Not thinking of 7 and a half year olds, I certainly did not intend her to meet the hot chick requirement.

Yeah, stupid to DQ myself when Wassy said it was good... But I am no stranger to doing stupid things. I often pick such stupid little things to be nitpicky about and stick to the letter of the law (or intent or whatever) even if it's detrimental to me. *shrug*

But just because I DQ'd myself doesn't mean I'm not going to play along... I just wanted to wait until the deadline was past to post my entry so that someone wouldn't put me in the voting process despite my stupid little stance

So, below is my non-entry... I guess you could say it's a little bit of a performance piece? I didn't want to just use kindergarten materials, I wanted to make a kindergarten piece entirely... So I was thinking, what would Caemgen had done in art while in kindergarten?? And after deciding that, I got to the performance part because I started asking myself how the other kids would react to him? So, my non-entry entitled "A Mother's Love"

I figured kids are cruel and would be crueler to Caemgen by far... So I envisioned the little brats snatching away that artwork that Caemgen was so proud of and balling it up, even ripping it up on him. Of course Caemgen's mother would love it, wrinkled and ripped or not, and would give it it's rightful place of honor up on the fridge...

(The dad part is just blank because Caemgen never knew his dad... But I igured in typical public school style, the teacher would probably insist the kids include both parents.)

And just because I had to preserve my masterpiece before I got to the performance part of it, here's the original:

  11. The latest pic to roll in is by Freyals from Deviant Art - This was a gift commission in exchange to donating to her Relay For Life, Cancer Council fundraiser... (not sure I think it's a gift when money was sent somewheres but I was happy to have extra incentive to donate to a very worthy cause!)

Anyway, the art can pretty much speak for itself, for full view please check out my DA page...

Yeah... But in hoping to get changes I figured it was best to pick my fights on this one... I think with proper horns and tail this will at least be a Caemgen picture. More along the lines of the early ones before you got me being more forceful but at least a Caemgen picture.

He's actually the one I'm least likely to give up on... But he is the most frustrating one to get done and get done right. And it was a frustrating day to begin with. If I did retire Caemgen it would be a retire, not a kill... Can't go killing off my namesake!! And even then it would be to just pull him out for the real top quality artists who I believed could really pull him off... But I'm coming to think those are fewer and farther between than I used to.

Thanks... but dude, I impose on you enough trying to get advice on how to describe to others on how to fix him

My understanding is something basically along the lines of:

(image redacted becuase it was expanding width of page and example has been made...)

Simple line art drawings of the character with all the details simply shown. Basically a clean and easy to read reference of the character so someone like me doesn't need to include a book of notes about how the character is different from the screenshots provided...
  13. Well I won't be cancelling any arts but I have been thinking for a while of killing off one of the trio...
  14. Well didn't want to name the artist until they had a chance to respond... And they have just responded apologizing and saying they'll change the horns and add the tail... I'm actually ok with the rest, I don't mind an artists spin on my guys as long as the integral parts are all basically there...

And I am still searching for someone to do character sheets but in this case I just don't know how much they'd have helped. Maybe with the tail but with the horns it's not like they tried to do them and just weren't up to it or got it wrong... They pretty much just ignored the horns and just threw on generic ones. *shrug*
  15. Actually as a piece of art I think it's pretty cool, it's just a couple major flaws for it being Caemgen...

And I will post it but as always will wait until I get the complete set done... Also waiting to see artists response after I expressed my concerns to them...
  16. Blech. Nothing better after a really crappy night at work than coming home to a really disappointing new piece of art. I'm really thinking about retiring Caemgen altogether.
  17. Dude!! You don't go explaining the Twilight Zone!!!
  18. No lottery - the current flood of art is mainly a symptom of differing turn around time by artists than anything else. Considering I have pieces still out after 6+ months and pieces that have been completed in days it's inevitable that sometimes everything will happen at once...
  19. I think I speak for most (if not all) when I say no worries at all... You've got to take care of yourself and school first.

By the same token, feel free to post the next theme early if it helps and/or delegate the starting of the voting thread to someone else.
  20. Ya, ya, ya... You've seen the other Steven Sanchez headshots people have gotten, well now mine came in so I figured I may as well share 'em

  21. I knew I should have copyrighted my "hot chick"!!!

Now just look at the indignities Chickie is going through *sob*
  22. Wow! Great stuff...

Oddly enough I think I prefer the bokuman one the best out of the three... Don't get me wrong, the other two are awesome but that middle one just seems so personality driven that I love it

(not that I know if the personality I see in that pic matches her real personality... By why let facts get in the way of opinion??)
