  1. What?? There's still people without a sanchez bust??? Blasphemy!!

I think the colors did the most to bring Alpha alive compared to the originals... I loved all 3 originals but let's face it, a metal face can only get so expressive so I think swanzies colors did the most for Alpha but over all I absolutely love the Caemgen pic... That glare is perfect
  2. Very cool... And yet another artist I'll have to watch!

    Airheaded Vision

Nevermind, my original post made no sense so I'll just sit here and wait for LJ's take on Airhead...

Let's be serious... She's good but not that good - making my characters look interesting is the stuff of fantasy. Anyway, I'm sure I have no idea what her publishing rate would be. *shrug*

    Woot!

She mentioned to me that her next two weeks were very open (this a couple days ago) so I think I may have just hit her up at the right time

Though if anyone is looking to get her to work on something, now is probably a good time to approach her!

    @Neko - Thanks! And thanks!

@Lady Arete - COOOOOOOOOKIEEEEEEEESSSS!!!!! ((insert happy dance here))

But no worries, I've always believed everyone hated me anyway. If they didn't, why aren't they giving me cookies???
  10. Newest colorizations are in... Here is Eddy-Swan's colors on the Sanchez busts:

btw - for those curious, my NeMA art is going to be colored by Nei Ruffino
  11. I swear to the powers that be that will be the last time I approve a sketch I've only seen on my iphone! All in all, I was just hoping to get it done quickly and didn't pay enough attention. I thought the coat was flowing down and around like a trenchcoat as wanted, not that it was some weird short coat and sundress over leggings type outfit. *shrug*

Still, I do think it captures the scene of her trying to swat away the clockwork pretty well

Meep! Nope, you missed it... I was saying I was born on my mother's birthday (since Red brought up my Bday)...
  13. Very, very cool!!

Great art, Wassy - I could totally imagine myself flipping those pages and showing the pictures to a kid as I read it to them...

And great job on the story Bubs! Hard to believe you made the story of matches interesting!

Actually that is my mother's birthday. That's right, I am truly God's gift to woman!

  16. I can definitely see what you're saying there Wassy but I was thinking mood board more along the lines of LJ's one with different poses and such rather than the expressions...

I was thinking something like that should show the artist the type of poses the commissioner tends to like (is he showing the character in heroic poses or lurking in shadows? Is he showing the character brawling or blasting away from a distance..) as well as power effects and such. I would think the person would include shots they liked the most and thus it would provide insight to what kind of arts they would be looking for...

But such can also be gotten in a bio, obviously. Or discussion between the two... But as I mentioned earlier somewhere, on occasion language can be a barrier.

All in all though, I think it never hurts to have as many "weapons" at your disposal as possible to get the point across and find out via talking with the artist which is most appropriate to share/which are most desired by the artist.
  17. Well seeing as how I've not bought my mom anything yet, I'm Swedish this month!!!

But seriously, I'm boycotting mothers day until there is a kids day! I demand equality, demmit!

Still, Happy and Loving Mother's Day to all the good moms out there!!

I don't care if you disagree with me, but do I have to agree with you? *Shrugs back*
    Yes.

Anyway, the problem with model sheets is that they don't help if the artist ignores them or doesn't know why they're included...

(Seems to me that arguement could be used about everything though, from directions to soap to dictionaries etc etc etc..)

    *shrug*
  19. On the topic of mood boards...

Not being an artist and thus not being one who would use them, I still see how they could be useful. Perhaps not needed, but useful...

If I provide a model sheet of Caemgen (or even just reference shots from the costume creator) artists tend to make certain assumptions, be it power wise, attitude or whatever...

Hopefully through email exchanges these things can be clarified but then again, as has been said, a picture is worth a thousand words. Throw in that the deal may be negotiated long before the artist gets to work or that there may he language issues, and I definitely can see how a mood board would be effective for conveying powers, typical poses and how the character owner sees the character...

    Needed? Maybe not?
Helpful? Sometimes more than others I would think but I would say yeah...
  20. Loving the Shadowshot piece and I always appreciate finding a new artist to add to my watch Though I must say I find having to go to your page and then to the artists a bit annoying

Anyway... This altest one is cute too... Always nice to see some cartoon style art.

Jackson, huh?? I didn't know I had enough cool in me to channel SJ but if you say so!

As for staying - I of course totally agree that it is worth it... But while I think this is probably (overall) one of the nicer parts of the forums, spats and such do occur from time to time - Hell, I think I've pissed of everyone here at one point or another. But if you're unable to suck it up through a bit of unpleasantness everyone once and a while and just keep soldiering on then frankly I don't think the internets was made for you...

    Fanart Prizes!

You post a few of the first ones.. They get bumped for a bit by people saying they like and such... And as you post new links that thread would again get bumped with people who hadn't seen before having easy access to first few in the first post of thread.
  23. Peeking in on my cell phone so can't comment too much on the art (since it's so small on my phone) but in regards to the FArt entry ones I did want to mention that I think you should consider focusing more on the people than the crafts..

I think making the people as large as possible would ge beneficial to portraying the envy, be it through body language or facial expression... While I think including the whole crafts may make for a more interesting overall pic, I think you may end up minimizing the theme a bit...

Anyway, I think what I'm trying to say is that as a work of out for a much wider audience, I think full ships is better. For the FArt crowd factoring in theme, I think cropped ships and bigger people may be something to consider...

All in all, I think this could be boiled down to a LB scraping bugs off his windshield while watching a crab soldier (or whatever) walk past with a hottie on each and every arm. I think the ship comparison is interesting but I don't think it's neccessary to get the point across...

Anyway, just my thoughts...can't wait to get home to check out the comrade pieces, they look pretty cool on my tiny phone screen so wanna see them full sized!
  24. TJ - First let me state that I can see how some of the follow up responses can be viewed as unneccessarily hostile... But that, for the most part, I do not believe that was the intent. I have found the people on this forum to be amazingly helpful when the opportunity arises and I believe that was the overall intent here. When it seemed you were ignoring the advise I think it only obvious that people would stress again why they think you shouldn't and I do not think it unusual that there would he some bemoaning the fact that you asked for help and then dismissed it...

Talk about your linear thinking all you want but isn't it a linear path from being asked for help, providing the help, being told the help will be ignored and being kind of annoyed you went through the bother?

Anyway, that's how people felt like it happened...

Regarding the gift art, if you feel a simple thanks is a price then yeah, whatever. Personally, I'll say thanks for any well intentioned gift, whether I mean it or not. It's called being polite and having manners. It's not a fee, it's a courtesy.

I get that you meant to get back to it, say more about it, give it the praise it's do (or whatever) but again we bump into a courtesy thing... You were pressed for time but had time to explain how of course you saw it but not time to give a "thanks, I'll write more later" ? Even if that's the case it seems common courtesy says this is one of those times a little white lie is ok... "sorry, no time to look at it, will check out once I get home" would have given you all the time you needed to gather your thoughts on the topic...

Anyway, blah blah blah, what it boils down to for me is this: Chill Out.

Yeah, maybe some weren't as gentle in their help as they could have been but since nothing indicated we were dealing with children I guess nobody saw the need to hold anybodies hand. Also, despite making the first post, you don't own the thread... Other people read it too, that means other people will be seeing the advice you were given and perhaps taking it to heart themselves. That being the case of course people will stress why they think things are important after you pooh-pooh'd them. Not just for you benefit but for who knows how many lurkers ..

Now you want to take your ball and go home? *Over this thread?? *Seriously???

If this thread is indeed enough to make you swear off this forum then I can't help but think there were children here who needed hand holding.

Ask that the thread be locked if you wish, i don't think it's really your ball to take home but whatever... But you really should consider if it's everyone else being unreasonable which is making you go home with your ball or if any "conflicts" in this thread couldn't have been avoided by you simply using a bit more tact and courtesy...

Maybe your linear thinking puts you above such things, maybe it's an excuse to act childish... *But when one of the two people you had kind words for in your tantrum looks at this whole deal like you asked for help and then preceeded to throw feces at those who tried to provide it... Well, obviously you are the one who was wronged. Yeah, that is very linear...
