  1. I dunno, I suspect color will really help to seperate them from the boot and even if it wasn't still totally obvious a simple note like "The circles around the ankles of the boot are much like the rings of Saturn" would probably suffice..
  2. Man, those parental units must have all been real busy in September - June is quite the month for Bdays!

    Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  3. Very nice catch!! Overall I love this, my only qualm is the way she's holding the katanna seems a bit awkward. Then again, I know next to nothing of using one so it could be totally right for all I know

Either way, it's very cool art! You're a lucky gal.

  5. Ok, just a heads up that this ends sometime SUNDAY so if you plan on getting an entry in, get it in soon!

Edit because I had the ending day wrong! oooops!

Bah! I've seen your work. You cannot be that good on one subject and not have the talent to do any subject you want if you really tried...

Besides, I think Bad Horse would make a wonderful addition to TA's villian roster!
  7. If you can't have your own birthday, you can at least have your own thread!!!

Now go drink beer and make the man fetch you dinner!!
  8. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Now go drink beer and make the woman fetch dinner!!
  9. There is definite similiarities... though purely coincidental.
  10. I'm sure if you go through your local yellow pages (do people still actually use phone books??) that there is more than one spelling mistake in an ad.

Bubba - Remember, you cannot help if Shalice didn't proofread her ad before she sent it in!!

Just to be clear... I liked the colors. It just seemed you felt they were rushed. I didn't mean at all that you'd have been better off without them, just that (IMO) b&w is cool as well.

Sorry, but my Kheldian isn't a shape changer...
  13. My main fear is that you are covering a 5" tattoo with an entire lower leg tattoo... and by the sounds of it, doing so in large part because other people think it looks silly.

I cannot help but wonder what happens when/if people think the koi is silly.

I have nothing against tattoo's, have 4 of them myself and may get more in the future. My concern is that to cover a small mistake you are going HUGE. Just how positive are you that this one is something you can live with and enjoy for the next 16 years?

It's all cool if the fish has some deep inner meaning to you and you know it's something that you want on you in such a large way for the rest of your life... But if you have any doubts at all you should be sure to really think about whether you want to live with a 5 inch mistake of a foot plus mistake.

I actually think the new design is pretty cool. It's nothing I'd want myself but still cool. It's just going so huge to cover a small mistake that I have concerns over and hope you really, really thought about.
  14. Very cool...

And for the record, I think you would have been fine submitting without the colors (rushed or not) as the piece looks pretty darn solid in black and white.
  15. Nice... Question though:

What is that besides N Forcer? I just can't figure out if it's actually supposed to BE something or if it's just a design to liven up the background...

Anyway, good job on him... And a really good job on Suzie there.

Yeah, I know they don't really look like they'd be effective for flying but, imo, they look very cool like that! lol, so yes, they are correct here.

In game I just don't love any of the wings available... Caem started off without wings, obviously. The first recipe drop I got was the bat wings and he sported those tiny li'l things in game for... err, ages. I actually kind of liked them but they were just too darn small...

Next he had the Draconic wings for a huge slice of time... But my problem with those is they're too darn big. And really, all the wings bug me when running around, I wish they'd collapse more rather than sticking up over the shoulders... *shrug*

Anyway, I'm boring you with needless detail... I gave artists pretty much free reign on the wings for the longest time, hoping someone would do something that just totally struck me as "Caemgen's Wings" for arts... And while there was no lightning bolt on them like when I saw Swanzy put the knotwork on his shoulder pads, I have come to prefer this style. I think it looks cool and also gives artists plenty of room to alter them to person style/taste...

First example of wings done this way was one of my earlier arts: http://kaemgen.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2bpoxi
Then this was taken to an extreme in a really cool (but true, unflight worthy way) here: http://kaemgen.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2krzb7
Then again they showed up being done in this vein in Nema's first art for me here: http://kaemgen.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2ozu3n

So yeah, while they likely won't be an exact style in each and every future commissioned piece, this is the basic idea for them.

Great arts as usual Caem! Grats and I know Eddy's colors will just bring that much more to the lines!

Oh also, come on, we all know that's a clone from the latest story arc! LOL I'll bet his armor isn't even the exact same color.... lol
Actually, this was commissioned before I found that arc... And the idea's been brewing for quite a while. My habit of buying in sets gets a bit bulky, a bit expensive and a bit difficult since not everyone does great on all 3 types of characters. *shrug*

But I came this --><-- close to having a Kheldian form hovering off in a corner

Blue man group is coming to campus soon (tm) that should be one of the easier costumes to pull off.

Actually the ghost would probably be the hardest to pull off... And Tuscan Sam and the Kellog's rooster because of being stuck with humanish body... But the rest should be able to be done.

Still and all, I just suggested this for silliness. Most likely I won't be able to run if it was ever done anyway so *shrug*
  18. To touch on what's already been said:

Wings: I would also love a slider to control how large they are... Even just a small medium and large option would be a big plus.

Power animations: It would totally rock if there were 3 or 4 different animations to choose for most powers... I would love for my witch to be able to have more spell castingy looks when using he blaster powers...

But the main thing that gets my goat in this regard is the Aid Other power pool animation where you pull out the little tech looking thing... She's a witch! She needs a little spell casting animation - she doesn't use tech! :P

Bestial Run animation - Hopefully this is in works for mutant booster or such but this is in HUGE demand...

Fly poses - Not sure if this is correct thread for it but you should be able to set a default one for each char in the options menu or something...

    Poorly and incorrectly.

Actually, most is stored on my computer and backed up on disk but I assume you are talking the art where I have received the actual physical version...

So far I basically have it all stored in what it was shipped to me in... I really need to get off my butt on do something better than that. All in all though, proper storage isn't something I am very knowledgable on and once I do get around to it I'll probably check out the links in Bayani's guide and see what's what...
  20. Very cool... I'm too lazy to post after every new piece you add but I'm really enjoying watching these so keep it up!
  21. Couple new pieces in...

First up is from Taclobanon. Recently he found himself way, way behind due to a change at work that affected his schedule and such. Due to this his commissions were done a lot slower than he was used to. Feeling bad he closed for a bit to catch up and when he did get so he did a bunch of free sketches for those who had stuff delayed.

Myself, and at least a few others I saw, told him not to worry about the free sketches, delays happen and the unexpected creeps up from time to time - Life can be unavoidable that way. Still, he insisted... And there's only so much denying of free arts one can do

If you're not familiar with Taclobanon, do not judge him by this sketch alone - Go check out his DA Gallery (link above)! Not to say that this sketch isn't very cool, I like it quite a bit... But it is a quick and free sketch and by no means shows off his full talent. I love this guys work and definitely will be hiring him again in the future...

    Next up is Alpha's Omega...

Or so I have entitled Daybreaker Alpha's death scene.

That's right ladies and gentlemen, Alpha has met his end. What with my habit of buying in sets and the fact that not everyone does great at hot chicks, slightly anthro/demon characters and armored characters, I decided to change my trio to a duo.

Obviously killing off Caemgen was not an option. He may be the one who is hardest to get done right but he's also my namesake! And while I really loved Alpha's backstory and such... Fenian is much hotter than him. lol...

Of course, in comic books realities everyone comes back eventually so there's definitely no saying Alpha is dead for good... So many possibilities for bringing him back: Kheldians, dark magic, Crey cloning techniques, someone else donning the armor, etc etc... But for a good long while, excepting a few outstanding pics that may or may not eventually get finished, Alpha is out of the picture after this...

Anyway, you came here to see art, not listen to my ramblings... So here is Alpha's Omega by Nema once again:

For the curious, Eddy Swan will be coloring this one and full pic will be up on DA soonishly or you can go to Nema's gallery and check it out full sized...
  22. Some week the theme should be breakfast cereal characters! Three could team up and do Snap, Crackle and Pop... Maybe a catgirl version of Tony the Tiger... Cap'n Crunch, Count Chocula, the Trix rabbit, Lucky the Leorechaun, the Cookie Crisp Burglar...

Whoever pulls off a successful Honey Nut Cheerios Bee gets 5 interwebz!

    ((small snip for brevity))

I have a pretty clear idea of my character concept, but the concept itself is quite fluid and might not lend itself to a model sheet very easily, unless I narrowed it down to one version to use.

But since you're the one in charge, I'll leave it up to you.

Bubba - while you are of course eligible to enter, Suichiro has an excellent point. *The most/best use of model sheets will be gotten from people with a character which has a very specific and stable look. *I may tweak Fen quite a lot, using each of her costume slots on each of the versions of her I have for slightly different looks... *But for arts I have settled on one specific look which I plan to keep for quite some time...

So yes, you are eligible to enter despite your Matchstick project, people with alt-itis can enter... But by the same token I am going to admit a bias towards people with "main" or personal "signature" characters who I think will benefit most from the sheet... *Not to say a dark horse couldn't win one but it will likely he tougher for them...

And hey, even if you don't win this is still an opportunity to take a little time to really think about your character, to consider exactly what you want them to look like free of the costume creator limitations, and how best to express that... *Even if it doesn't get you a model sheet you can still save it for the next time you get arts...

Anyway, that's all for now... I'm nit commenting on entries (trying to nit even read them) until the contest ends...

By the way, editing of entries IS allowed up to the close of the contest. If someone does something that gives you an idea (or that you want to steal) go right ahead! *One of my goals was to get people better references and such so I have no problem with people making improvements as they go....
  24. Call them model shhets, character sheets, turnarounds or whatever you choose, I've become convinced of their benefits and importance... And now that our very own lovely and talented Wassy is offering them along with all her other fabulous commission offers, I figured it was high time for another contest.

Now keep in mind, the prize or prizes are model sheets, not pin up art. As such, if your just looking for free arts then you'd be better off waiting for my next contest... While model sheets certainly can be cool looking, their main purpose is to facilitate future artists who are doing that character - to show them the details and specifics of a character and their costume - it's a reference guide, not something to put up on your wall...

With that in mind, hopefully only those with clear, concise ideas of their character, and who expect to be getting more art of said character in the future, should enter. If your not going to need such a reference guide, why try to win one away from someone who will?

So please, if you just want free arts, wait for a future contest which will be more geared to pin up art... You should know by now I'll be doing one of those soon enough

    Anyway, on to the details...

The prize? A model sheet of your character done by Wassy... This is plain line art, you want color you're on your own. An example of Wassy's work on one of these can be seen here: ((to be inserted when I'm home and can find the link))

Number of prizes: To be determined,,

    The contest:
I'm looking for people with definite, clear pictures of how they want their character to look and will be trying to determine who could best work with Wassy to make that look become a reality... Wassy takes doing these very seriously and so I am looking to see who is just as serious about their character.

As such, the entrants to this contest should describe their character as they would to Wassy in order to let her know exactly how the character should look. This means detailed descriptions, references, whatever... Do whatever it takes to let us build that perfect picture of your character in our minds.

This isn't a writing or description contest though... Sure that will play some role but reference materials are likely to play just as big a role. You want so and so's eyes but what's her name's hair? Let us know and give us examples!

All in all we're looking to be impressed by the character, sure, but mainly of your vision of that character and your dedication to getting them done perfectly...

As for originality... That's a tough one to answer. Someone saying their character looks exactly like Famous Person X is not going to win - they don't need model sheets as they can just have the artist draw that famous person... *But at the same time it's not important that you have a unique mix of costume pieces either... *Basically the character as a whole needs to be original enough so that people can tell it's your character and not just a copy of whatever... If that makes any sense at all? Eh, I'll probably come back and edit this section later...

Timeframe: The contest starts now and will be open for entries for a week - I'll close it sometime Sunday the 13th of June.

Speed is of no matter as long as you get it in on time, impressing me with the need to see your character realized is

    Minor details/Misc:
1 entry per person. The biggest part is to see who has the best vision and can communicate it most effectively more so than the coolest character so multiple entries shouldn't help.

Entry can be as long or short as needed. It can include as many links and/or references as needed. However, you must of course adhere to all forum rules!

Winners and number of winners are at my sole discretion... There is no challenges, popular vote, instant replay or complaining.*

Contest is open to any player with an active forum account. The contest is on the forum so, um, yeah... Previously winning a contest of mine or such doesn't matter, you are still eligible.*

Any questions about contest or rules should be posted here so I can answer for all to see.

I'm doing this off the top of my head, as usual, so reserve the right to add, subtract, change or make up rules as needed.

So, that's it for now! You may commence the questions/comments and/or gathering up your thoughts and references...
  25. Caemgen

    Artz!

Very cool! I particularly love the 2nd, 4th and 5th ones...

*makes mental note to get some arts from him soon!!*
