Latest Pieces...
First a piece by Aposcar. He has been very, very slow in getting the three pieces done but he HAS at least stayed in contact which, for the most part, makes me fine with the slowness... Anyway, here's the second of the three - Alpha! (Caemgen still to come... eventually.)
Also, here is a preliminary piece by MykeManila. This is the pencils of the Caemgen/RedFire piece I commissioned from him... Colors are still pending. This has been delayed quite a bit since he took some time away to learn more skills... And that time seems to have really paid off! I am loving how this came out...
There's a couple minor details that he promises to fix when he does the colors - Red's ears shouldn't be pointed and his tails should probably be showing given the pose... Still, awesome art methinks.
I've still got a couple other pieces pending with him and if they're all this good it seems like the delay was worth it to me -
Hey now! I told you ya didn't have to do the HUD!

Quote:Actually, my opinion about anyone isn't really involved here, just my opinion about crime and victims being further victimized.Seriously??? Yes. There would be quite a different response to that. Because it's a TOTALLY DIFFERENT SITUATION. Nobody in their right mind would see "art theft" and "violence against women" as anywhere NEAR the same thing. And despite your (unreasonably) low opinion of Bayani, I'm 100% sure his response would be different in that case.
I agree there is a difference of degree between theft and violence... But I am curious, at which degree of crime is it ok to blame the victim for leaving themselves susceptible to the crime? If it's ok to laugh at art theft victims but not violence victims, where exactly is the line? -
No idea on the intention behind the words, just saying how I read it. "Heh" I take as a bit of a laugh - probably not the best way to start a comment about a crime. Next we're told it's "not even the first time it's happened" which comes off to me as an attempt to minimize the impact or to blame the victim.
I imagine there would be quite the different response if in response to a different crime someone had said: Heh. It's not even the first time it's happened to her. She's got to be more careful where she walks.
I don't think anyone is ever asking for it or deserves it. Be it theft, ****, murder or whatever. Yes, people definitely should be careul of themselves and their possessions but no matter how careless they were I think it's crass to publicly laugh at and blame them. -
Quote:I have to say I read it much as PowerStream did, blaming the victim...I'll bet you that Bayani knows the guy a lot better than you do. Perhaps the situation is different than you think.
I suppose it's possible it's all an insurance scam or a way to drum up publicity but unless there is evidence to such, or one at least states they suspect such, laughing at the victim of a crime is pretty low class. -
This was a great session, there wasn't a single entry I didn't like and didn't consider voting for... Each artist deserves congratulations! And U-Naught, I hope you eventually finish that piece cause I love the concept!
But in the end, there can be only one! Well, this isn't the end and we still have more than one.... Hmph, too soon for highlander references I guess...
Anyway, big Congratulations to Christopher Robin!!! You went way above the call of duty with what you tackled and it really paid off! Enjoy your month of no worries!
Woot! -
Looking really good! Nice job. Now do more!!

Like others have saif, great pic, awesome colors... Definitely an artist I am going to have to check out...
Question - is that mermaid a tattoo or something else? -
Very nice! Though you do lose two Man Points for having your first full piece be a teddy bear...
(Though if it's a scheme to win chicks over you may end up getting the points back... And maybe gaining a few if it gets you twins.) -
It was mainly a joke... I was a bit suprised by your prices but definitely not in any real danger of heart problems.

My thoughts, for what they're worth...
Don't know much about Sentry but I think he's like Superman power level wise? Basically the strongest, most invulnerable... And if that is close to right I don't know if I see Iron Man as having a chance so the end doesn't have quite the shock value it could. Square him off againt the Hulk or maybe Thor and I'd be more wowed?
(note, haven't read comics regulary in about 2 decades so power levels of characters as I remember and imagine may he different/ have changed.)
My next issue is with the flying at each other panel. All in all it's a scene that has been done. You need to spice it up a bit more somehow. Perhaps have IM racing towards a waiting Sentry instead, Sentry either being unaware or almost bored by the attack. Or perhaps a perspective not used often... I was just thinking that placing the camera at about the small of IM's back and a but above could look pretty cool. That would probably show enough IM to make him identifiable and still pretty much give us things from his pov...
Anyway, point is that I think this scene needs to be livened up a bit somehow, just how doesn't matter much.
The last scene has also been done before but being a classic scene it can be done again without too much drawback... And it looks great so far so I am all for keeping that scene... Though perhaps this should he a whole page...
But what about the BOOM? Well, if you change the flying towards one another scene to make it more dramatic, more imminent, more epic, you could almost leave off the boom entirely. Show the boom via the results! Perhaps some lingering dust clouds in the last panel... I think I'd rather skip big sound effect panels but that may be just a personal preference...
Anyway, in my opinion I think you need to snazz up the coming together scene but if you do that in a cool enough way you do not need an in between page... And in fact the fighting page (the most obvious between page subject) would likely just take away from the impact of the suddenness of the final page.
Hmmm, only idea I can think of that could be interesting and keep the impact would be a flashback to show why the two heroes are fighting but that would be hard to pull off quickly and succinctly enough to note lose the suddenness impact...
Anyway, just my thoughts... (and final panel does look like it could come out awesome...) -
The basic rule here is that you can't talk actual prices on the boards...
Besides, you just about gave me a heart attack!
Sorry to hear you had problems on DA, I'd ask what happened but I guess privacy kind of precludes that... Ah well, best wishes! -

The first rule of Moderators: You do not talk about Moderators.
Do I need to mention the second rule? -
Quote:Well Kheldarn started it!! As for DN, that was proactively done because of his abandoning the 606 just because of a silly promotion and lack of time and such! Pffffffft!!So Kheldarn and David Nakayama kicked ur doggeh? Dastardly!
(I don't mean literally kicking my dog... You do that and I just shoot you in the kneecaps.) -
Even having no clue who many of these are, these are all greatly humorous!!
-
My general rule is: You don't kick my dog, I don't draw your face.

Happy Birthday!!!!

All you peeps have input on the stream, but nobody ever shows up. I say you all get no recognition until you put some time into the peanut gallery.
That's why I'm hardly ever in this threadWorking when 99% of these occur and on the one every couple months I could make I tend to be out or oversleeping... Working overnights sucks!

His art is not dirty so it should be safe...

Those came out absolutely fantastic! I think some characters can be lost in the Sanchefication process if they're not unique enough but Natrix and Pyro are definitely Natrix and Pyro! Great catches!

What I think is one of the coolest mission maps I've yet seen:
And THIS is just wrong!
