I guess I can accept that...

But my original statement of not getting the fascination with badges was not intended to denigrate those who do but rather just to say that... I really don't get it.

Is it because it's a way of keeping score? (I have more badges than you!)
Is it just another thing to collect? (Some people just love their beanie babies!)
Is it because it's another thing to do in the game you like? (I do find my 50's just sitting idle...)

I'm sure it's not the same answer for everyone (it never is) and maybe it's just because I'm a newb and haven't discovered the wonderfulness of badges yet... But I just haven't figured out what the draw is. *shrug*

Obviously, with something like this one where you get something hand in hand with the badge (access to Beta) I can see teh attraction of wanting that other thing... But if I didn't get a badge for hitting level X I wouldn't care less but I get the feeling some would raise holy heck over it


Anyway, I'll either figure it out someday or not... And I by no means wish to detract from the enjoyment of those who get it from badges... So [/hijack] and carry on with the thread as was

Anyway, the sketches in your thread are brilliant and are of course plenty more contribution to this forum than you needed to give. You should feel no obligation at all to add anything more to this thread...

Though, knowing ChristopherRobin, he'll eventually start going on about how you got called out by some no talent hack but called you out but you were afraid to pick up the challenge...

Seriously though, no obligation to do anything special for this thread... Very much enjoying your sketch thread and understand you have bigger things to do than play with us... So it's all good.

I was actually thinking about taking a swing at Guide to Commissioning Fan Art or some such and then putting it up for comment, editing, changes... I must say though, I am very glas you are beating me to it since I am far to rambling and far, far too disorganized to do a good, concise job of such a thing.

It's always best to look at the various artists stles and galleries to see what appeals to you rather than just taking whoever steps up and says "Me! Hire me!"

When looking at their pages on Deviant Arts (most the links in that thread take you to pages there) there will be links for their gallery so you can get a good example of their work and there will also be links to their journals which is where you'll generally find their prices and wether or not their currently open for new commissions...

As far as reliability goes, I have yet to have a single problem with any of the works I've hired out and have heard of very, very, very few from others... (I think just one artist and I don't think they're on that list...)

Edit to add:

You should consider what you really want the pic to contain before you hit up the artist to hire them. Not to say some give and take between artist and client isn't good (it is!) but this will be something you are hanging on your wall... It should be something you want, not just whatever the artist happens to do. I don't think any of the artists have a problem with action shots (though if your looking to have villians in the pic it may cost a tad more) and if you want power effects in it there should be no problem there either as long as you can provide some reference screenshots or describe them pretty well... (I'd only go the describe route if you wanted them to look different than in game though...)

And any questions, feel free to ask... Most here tend not to recommend a specific artist (everyone has different taste, enjoys different styles, best for you to browse and pick) but if you have questions besides that we're usually pretty helpful...
