I would of prefered if the SSA dealt with the entire Phlanax getting their powers removed. Thus enabling them to remain in game, in the same advisory posistion they hold as task force givers.
But who you ask would save us from Arachnos etc?
How about us the player characters? The old guard are still there to teach and advise, but it up to us to hold the torch of justice! -
Quote:Did this for a couple of episodes, then promptly slammed the door shut when the quality took a nose dive."It was good for the game because it opened the door to a nice new revenue stream in the SSA's. That is good for the game"....Check it did do this, to what degree we will never be told.
Quote:"It also opens up a new content tool that can be used to make new stories and expand the lore well beyond its roots into the future. That is good for the game".....Check it did do this.
Quote:"It got some excellent free press for making the SSA's and that draws new players that would not have considered COX prior to the comic book episode deal. That is good for the game"....I am going to say check it did do this. The press is undeniable the draws new players part we will never be told.
Debatable, any new addition would draw some press. Killing off a character, but then still using said character as the main advertisement of the game? Not certain how that really works out.
Quote:"I personally think some of the missions and cutscenes were some of the better ones in the game. That is good for the game." Acknowledged as debatable.
Quote:"Killing Statesman was a bold and risky decision yes, but it brought a lot more attention to the game than just about any other plot they could have thought up." Check, what other plot would have drawn more attention from the press and how is that not good for the game? -
So how about an Epic Archtype that has access to all the power sets?
Primary would be the Damage sets, so Ranged, Melee or the Assault sets.
Secondary would be a choice between a Control set, Armour or Buff/Debuff set.
The mastermind primaries could go into either, but would lock out the choice of those kinds of powers in your other choice. So no Thugs/Mercs but a Demons/Titan Weapon would work.
As for inherent, a friend suggested Jack of all trades a small buff that scales with the number of enemies and or enemies in range, so that the more epic a fight is (either by the amount of friends around you, or enemies youre fighting.) the more at home you are. -
Quote:Sure it was good for the game is what I meant as I explained several reasons why it was good for the game on the last page.
And I disagree with them.
Yes the idea of the SSA's could bring a lot of people to the game, but they haven't really have they?
Besides the writing and quality assurance on the last batch have been enough tocrush any good they could of done. -

You know I've never got why Positron was even allowed in the city at all. Until recently he was a radiation emitting cloud of anti-matter locked in a containment suit right?
Why was he even allowed to stand around in the middle of a populated zone like Steel Canyon? What if some villain popped his contaiment suit and nuked a few dozen civillians?
And what exactly makes him fit to lead a super group? Guy wants to bone a ghost for pitys sake. -
Killing of Psyche just to promote character development in Manticore, is the sign of a talentless writer.
Fridging just proves you lack imagination and intelligence. -

Quote:Of course he doesn't, otherwise he'd let them create level 50 characters for PvP right out of the gate rather than play through all that booooooring PvE content. (Fully purpled, too.) Or at least not try to stop them from farming their way past it in a couple of evenings.
You know that might actually revive PVP in CoH, a single server for PVP with that mode enabled. -
Quote:Suppose this is true. Can you prove that he makes such decisions purely out of spite? Are you paranoid enough to believe that he doesn't like the players, now?
Have you seen what they did to the AE?
They took something unique to City of heroes, something no other MMO had done before.
And destroyed it because people weren't playing how Positron wanted.
To paraphrase black ops.
"3000 people used to use the AE, now it's a ghost town."
And let's not get started on his parting words on removing rewards from Incarnate trials as you unlock slots. Better hope that enough people are running the newer trials to ensure the old ones don't get the AE treatment. -
Quote:Are any of you who are attempting to judge the character of a person, whom most of you have never actually known, actually stopping to take a breath and step back from this thread just so you can see the level of crazy being put into it? Do you ever think about what you're thinking about? This is exactly the reason why I automatically dismiss any claims made by the player base that it can plan a better story than the folks currently in development actually planning out the real game, barring a substantially good idea. I cannot approve of any situation where the inmates are running the asylum.
Actually we know that Positron is prone to throwing the toys out of the pram.
He did it with AE.
Hell he was going to do it with the Incarnate trials, because people weren't playing how he wanted us to play (I know people were doing 30 min trials that they had on farm, rather than doing an hour one with the possibility of no reward at the end? How odd), it was only the fact that well Incarnates are the only real reason for many Vipsto remain so that stopped him. -
Quote:Exact ******* zactly!Honestly, I would have loved that part of the arc much better if, after losing his powers, Statesman said "There's... one thing you should know."
Darrin Wade sneers, "What's that, old man?"
Statesman says "Before... before I was Statesman... I was a soldier." and pulls out a World War I era pistol, and takes a shot at Wade.
Sure, Wade would take the shot and shrug it off, maybe get some tiny little scar on his face from it and then just summon some Rularuu beastie to smack the life out of Marcus Cole... AND then you run the cutscene.
Captain America, facing off against Thanos with the infinty guantles, stood his ground and faced off against a being that could blink him out of existance.
Yeah he was killed quickly and with no effort by Thanos, but he at least bleeding tried.
This just smacks of 'Well Jack gave up on the company so his character would as well!" another example of Matt 'Positron' Miller throwing the toys out of the pram. -
Quote:How can the statement "someone will die" be false? The only way is if no one dies. People often jump to the assumption that 'someone' means 'only one', but that's, grammatically, not what's actually being said in the slightest. The false assumption is especially grating if you're familiar with formal logic, where the difference between "one" and "one and only one" is incredibly important.
They said one of the surviing eight will die.
Not one and then another one, not two, not one and maybe some more. Just one of the surving eight. -
Quote:That's the thing...part of me, the horrible cynical part, is more than willing to believe that Positron WOULD push for it hence where the niggling doubt that it was driven by spite springs from especially since it is HIS character that is now the guy incharge.
The quote that was posted while I was typing, the "growing up and leaving the nest from which it was born." doesn't do much to dissuade that niggling feeling of spite either since that can be taken as "removing the last vestiges of the games old creator now I'm incharge".
However as mentioned it is doubt that the horrible cynic in me is voicing.
You know I actually think the same, especially given how Statesman died.
Did he heroicly try to fight on after his powers had been stripped from him, and die in the act?
No he gave up.
That's what makes me think it was an act of spite. -
Probably not, given that no one else in Preatoria is.
Plus he acts even more like a teenager when you encounter him. -
Amazing art but...
Clockie was a teenager before he became a brain in a jar.
Though that image makes a great Nemesis. -
New AT?
A Melee/Buff-debuff AT would be something new. -
I think the price's could do with some looking at.
Beast Mastery can only be used by one AT, but costs the same as a powerset that can be used on four AT.
That doesn't sit right with me, and may be the real reason that I'm skipping Beast Mastery as a purchase. -

Quote:I'm sure you can, as long as you pick up his mission before starting the whole thing?
EDIT: I haven't been able to test it yet but you may be able to get the 2 Empys the first run through as long as you talk to Taskmaster Gabriel before starting the arcs from the contacts. I guess I'll try that on one of my scrappers or my 'troller since they haven't run it yet. -
Quote:From my understanding. Once you've done them all you're in this situation. When did they put a week cooldown on the reward? Or is that only on the Emp/Astral choice? I know it isn't on the Incarnate Component reward choice.
After getting through all of the arcs the first time on Texas Justice I started running Heather's arc through Ouro. I ran it once a day and selected the same reward (Incarnate Component) each day. I know of some in Beta that ran that same arc several times a day and selected different rewards each run through.
When I saw the patch notes on Beta about this I never expected it to reward me for the arcs I'd already completed.
If they had granted that option I would have considered it a bonus, not something I expected.
Once every 20 hours, flashbacking an arc will give you a reward table.
Once every week completing all six arcs gives you a guaranteed Emp merit (or is it two merits?).
So post completing the arcs for the first time the most efficent way of farming DA solo is to do one arc every day, making sure to pick up Taskmaster's mission once a week. -
I'm pretty sure this is meant to work when you do them through oroborous.
It's meant to be a guaranted Emp merit for solo players no?
