For years I have been asking for this, and for years more I will continue to back it up as a brilliant idea. I would play this for all it's worth, maybe even giving up Blasters as my favourite AT. While it's up for the developers to work out numbers, I would expect to see melee damage similar to a Tanker, with support by Buffs/Debuffs that of a Controller?
The issue of balance is of course to the Dev's choosing, but the problems highlighted in this thread (survivability vs damage vs mez protection, or lack thereof) could be fixed by the inherant working much like Invinciblity/Rise to the Challenge/Against All Odds, where you get some kind of survivability buff for each enemy within range (range doesn't have to be melee). These buffs could range from mez protection, to defense (to avoid the mezzes hitting you) to the enemy's secondary effects being debuffed heavily, so as to increase the support of the AT.
My personal favourite would be to have enemies increase your defense/mez resistance (not protection) by small %s when they're within 20ft, while allies within that range would increase damage resistance/mez protection, as you have the courage/power called forth when you have allies to protect. As said, Blappers generally have no issues with being in melee despite their squishyness (if played right), so a soloing Melee/Support AT shouldn't have issues if they play smart. In team, it's generally more chaotic so I think it's okay to let them have some breathing room by giving straight up mez protection and damage resistance for allies in range.
For numbers with the above inherant idea, I would imagine around 4% damage resistance to all and mag 2 protection to all but Repel and Knockback for each ally in range, then 3% defense to all positions plus 10% resistance to mez for each enemy in range. Keep the usual cap of 10 targets and for it to include ally pets (why not?) and you can be looking at 30% defense, 100% (halves the duration) mez resistance, 40% damage resistance and mag 20 mez protection if you're in a full team and at the front line of the fight. With no additional combat buffs (Fury, Critical) and nothing to help your buff/debuffing (Vigilance), combined with you having to be at melee range to fight, I feel it's only fair (remember, 8 person team setting -with pets- and surrounded by enemies for the numbers, and they're unenhanceable).
And very much agreed on the AT being called Commander. If it was implimented, I would make a Titan Weapons/Storm with a massive axe and Street Justice/Traps backalley boy genius. -
That's fair enough then, and even more of a reason for it being awesome! More people there are, less toggles that need to be running, so less endurance/sec you're using. Profit!
-
Last I checked, Brute fury was balanced out so that, yes, under normal content they may outdamage a Scrapper, but if a Brute and Scrapper were both at their respective damage cap, the Scrapper would out-damage the Brute.
My vote goes to a Fire/Fire Scrapper with the -res Interface and running Fiery Embrace. -
If you want steamrolling from the start from 4 players, then yeah go with Arachnos. The beautiful thing with the VEATs is that, even if they're not all the same branch, they'll still work SO well together. You could have one of each branch then, and it'd still be quite the formiddable superteam (softcap at 22 anybody?). The Bane and Night Widow would mean more than enough ST damage to keep EBs and even AVs very dead, while the Crab and Fortunata will be pumping out enough AoE and control that groups will fall down quickly.
Just have everyone grab 2x Maneuvers and keep it running and you'll have plenty enough survivability, the only issue might be team-wide endurance but if you're coordinated enough then you can mix and match eachother's inspirations for enough blues to go around. -
I agree on tier 5s, and very much like the idea of Presence getting a taunt aura, no matter how low the mag/duration is. If it's low enough that any other form of taunt, be it the power, another taunt aura or just Gauntlet, would take aggro from you then it'd be fine. Add on a high Leadership-level endurance drain and I'd even call it balanced for a Pool power.
For the other sets, here'd be my thoughts;
Fighting
Shrug it Off: A small self heal (half of the average self heal at least) with 10-30 seconds of mag 2 protection to Stun, Immobilize and Fear. A.. 90 second recharge? Maybe the ability to use it whilst mezzed to break out of it? So, when slotted it, it'd almost be like using a Respite and Break Free every 45 seconds or so.
Concealment
Hide Friend: An ally cast PBAoE placate like Smoke Bomb, letting them lose aggro as they suddenly go invisible for a short while so they can get away, maybe a small chance for a 2 second confuse on nearby enemies because they *were* going to attack your ally, but miss on account of the disappearance and hit one of their buddies. It'd need a long recharge, around 5 minutes or more, but I'd like to see it.
Leadership
Inspire: A long recharge clickie which gives all allies and yourself in a PBAoE a random medium inspiration, 60 second recharge?
Medicine
Channel Health: An interruptable ally heal toggle, like a single target Soothing Aura from Pain. Whilst toggled on, if you take any damage, move or use another power it will toggle off (though I don't know if the technology for that is in the game?). While the amount it'd heal for and how often the ticks would be is up for balance testing, I'm pretty sure the endurance cost should be pretty low on account of how easy it would be for it to be toggled off and how you are otherwise incapacitated while it's on. -
Assuming you're going for 4x the same AT/sets, then how about 4 Elec/Nin Stalkers. They'll be buffing each other's crit, softcapped if they all grab Maneuvers, and capable of enough AoE and ST damage to steamroll almost anything.
4x Beam/Rad Corruptors. Beam Rifle's ST damage and Rad's debuffs would be enough to stay unkillable and rip through anything up to GMs with ease.
4x Plant/Son Controllers. Multiple Carrion Creepers and multiple Disruption Fields on multiple Fly Traps while you cycle through Seeds of Confusions to keep enemies busy, not to mention the stacked resistance shields/bubbles.
If it's just a 4 person team, then I would say a SS/Shield Brute, Plant/Son Controller, Fire/Kin Corruptor and Bots/Dark Mastermind. Throw buffs at the Brute, set pets on auto and keep up the Dark debuffs/Fulcrum Shift, with Liquefy just incase. Plant Control's there for the overkill of perma-Confuse and immobilise to keep enemies in the Bots' burn patches + Rain of Fire. -
Resistance is trustworthy protection, so needs to be moderated so as not to unbalance enemy groups as part of overall game balance and experience.
Defense can be easily countered without instantly killing/unbalancing content towards those without it, and is still prone to the Random Number Generator killing them on a whim, so it's okay to drown players in it.

I *would* have suggested Rad/Fire Blaster, 4 AoEs by level 10, 9 by 38 (10 if you count Consume). With the limitation of no Fire, then I'll put forward the MFing Warshade (Where's Dechs when you need him? I'm sure he's omnipotent when this kinda thing comes up). OR Elec/Shield/Mu for the insanity of it, especially if IOd up.
Y'know, if the only thing stopping you from using Fire is the look of it, /Fire Manipulation does colour like Radiation pretty nicely.. Y'know, just saying. -
As impractical (because of Shields) and silly (because it can just be used for Titan Weapons or it's own set) the idea could be, I would love to see scythes used as alternate animations for Dark Melee/Blast/Manipulation.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
A Support/Melee AT (Heroic-named Commander) and an Assault/Support AT (Villainous-named Striker).
Commander's inherant would be like Blaster's Defiance, attacks increasing your damage resistance and regeneration, while using buffs/debuffs/heals would increase your defense and mez protection. By keeping active and evenly using your primary and secondary, you would increase your own survivability to keep up with potential aggro from your actions.
Striker's inherant would be gaining additional recharge, damage and secondary-effect (things which would be effected by Power Boost) for enemies and allies in range (I would say about 12ft?). By being in the thick of battle, you gain additional fervor for the fight, increasing your offensive and supporting potential the bigger the odds against you are. -
I can make a push for Stone/WP Brute. Plenty of damage without Fury and pretty much unkillable if you keep using Fault.
Will also second the notion of a Mastermind. Try a Bots/FF. Bubble up bots, keep your PBAoE bubble on and slotted Maneuvers, fire a Photon Grenade into a group of enemies while you're in Bodyguard. Enemy attacks you, bots absorb damage and attack group, bots are softcapped to all damage so aggro they get is just aggro off of you and you've not got to worry about their health because they heal themselves. -
How about if she gave out repeatable missions where you show up at charity events. No XP, but double inf. Content? A couple of talk-to convos (maybe they can go towards your 5 a day morality missions?) then putting on a staged fight for entertainment against some badly costumed AV look-a-likes.
Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes and gives you an inf boost, could be useful for lowbies who need an inf injection for DOs, especially considering how it's going F2P, lots of new players! -
LOVE Spring Attack, just what my SS/Elec and Stone/WP Brutes needed
Not tempted by either LRT or Afterburner, the faster travel is already possible with all the teleports and just old fashioned leg work between zones. I don't think the extra 20mph is worth it, really.
I really want to try Burnout, it looks like it could be an awesome panic button panic button. Used all your panic buttons? Use Burnout for more panic buttons. Kinda want it on an Elec/Regen Scrapper, or my Inv/SS Tank for chaining Unstoppable, Dull Pain and Rage together for epic stacking and god mode time.
Been thinking about Burnout theory for really abusing the power. Multiple Carrion Creepers? Dual Gang Wars? Illusion/Storm Controller with every pet out twice? Stack Empathy/Pain/Thermal/Cold buffs/debuffs on everybody.. Could be a fun tactical power. -
Tactics - The act of attacking an AV/end-of-TF boss face first successfully without planning, or sometimes without telling the team. 'Tactics!' '..Is the Brute soloing Nictus Rommy?'
Purpled purple - An IOd Warshade
Purplio - Purple Invention Origin enhancement
Bigpull - The act of multiple characters holding an aggro-cap worth of enemies each, be it on purpose or after all the squishies have died. Can also be pre-emptive where multiple Tank-like characters will pull their aggro cap worth of enemies so that the previously mentioned squishies *don't* die because there's no way to avoid over-aggroing.
I'd also like to vote for a free player who doesn't understand the lingo being a 'Freemer'. -
I have a Stone(Read:Granite)/Ice Tanker who mostly just uses Taunt, Frost, Frozen Aura and Mud Pots for aggro, generally slotted so they're up as often as possible without many endurance issues. Otherwise he's using the Medicine Pool, Ice Patch and 2 ST holds to help support the team, really effective in a team low on support or fighting something tougher than usual but really bad solo because of the choice slotting and Ice's inherantly lowish damage, really bad DPE too.
I have toyed with the idea of an Emp/Dark Defender who slots their attacks for -tohit and recharge then getting the -dam Interface for a full support character. -
Rad/Fire Blaster
Irradiate
Electron Haze
Neutron Bomb
Atomic Blast
Combustion
Fire Sword Circle
Blazing Aura
Consume
Burn
Hot Feet
Irradiate, Electron Haze, Combustion and Fire Sword Circle by level 10, slot chance for -res into Irradiate and slot up for endurance/recovery and recharge, giggle. -
Global immortality, invulnerability and wisdom, and global healing, don't want anyone stuck with amputations or debilitating injuries/diseases. Oh, the ability to choose how old you want to be, but only after you're 18 or so. Don't want any 40 year old toddlers (as funny as it *might* be).
Then make the planet 3x the size for population, perhaps another Earth nearby with an easy way to travel to it.
Then go on a personal search to see if there's life on other planets, become disappointed because either it doesn't exist or is too far away from Earth.
Make a species entirely made out of me on Mars. Find that boring and make them out of supermodels instead. Find that even more boring and just go back to Earth to live a long and happy life. Till I get bored and decide to change smaller details which can effect the bigger picture. Maybe actual Superheroes and Supervillains? -
1- How many here would like to see Rocket Board as a Power Pool with 5 powers, befitting a Travel Power Pool?
Yes
Whack someone over the head with your vehicle/platform of choice
Remotely call your vehicle/platform to knock an enemy down at a range (no damage)
Travel power
Slower travel with a respectable +def (like Weave combined with Hover/Combat Jumping, call it Evasive Manauvers?)
Clicky spammable +movement buff, an afterburner of sorts, with a short term stacking -recov so it's more for travel but can be used in combat
2- How many here would prefer the board to be customizable, ie, coloration and form?
Yes
I would settle for one themed vehicle/platform per origin, if possible..
Current rocketboard for Natural
Green Goblin-esque flyer for Tech (visible weapons, less like a skateboard more like a fixed wing)
A cloud for magic
Elemental Fire/Ice/Electricity/Energy for Mutant and Science
3- How many here would prefer that Rocket Board didn't disallow attacks and detoggle you, or would you be happy enough to keep the toggles?
I would like to fight with it, but would settle for it just greying out attacks (but not self buff toggles) -
Sprint
Placate
And as many awakens as you can fit in your tray.
I'd make him a Traps/Son Defender, take all of Traps and only the T1 + mezzes of /Son, then all of Leadership, Medicine and Teleport. Power Mastery for Conserve Power, Power Build Up and Force of Nature (To, of course, be the main stand in for his sheer tenacity and presence in a fight. The Doctor is a force of nature). If there's room, either Presence or Concealment pool too. -
Surprised there's no cosplay as Harley Quinn.. But.. This is like fathoming spaghetti junction.
The girl who plays the fictional daughter of the character Castle has cosplayed as her fictional father's actor's old character.
..Ow my brain. -
I can agree to adding chaining to Voltaic Sentinel AND Tesla Cage (have it chain off for the T1's damage), it'd make me play the set for sure. I can also get behind every Blast have a small % chance to cause a minor damage chain.

Quote:It's still a nice coat.Given how the coat looks, I suspect that this was the crew blocking out the scene and rehearsing. Note the rest of the people in these pictures, looking unconcerned and talking. If this was actual filming, they'd be reacting in some way or another to the character, but that's clearly crew closest to him.
Early days.

I like the look, digging the coat.. But it doesn't feel like Bane to me. Hopefully it'll look better once it's in motion.
