I'd like to see more bulky costume pieces like the Cyborg and Enforcer sets, but not nessesarily all tech. Try floating slabs of runes, with or without the runes of them so they can just be rocks to give more variety for tech/mutant/science types (I'm thinking a normal human sized Granite armour, one with markings in it and one without).
As said, back details. Pre existing jet packs, a steampunk pack, magic jet pack (rings like the Magic medical transporter held onto the back which makes a flame?), flat tech wings which pop out like Buzz Lightyear's when you enter flight, turbines, clockwork gears, clockwork winder, the ring/jewel from chest details, Cyborg/Enforcer/Vanguard additions, a sword/dagger stuck in you (what if the stone came to life after it had Excalibur taken out of it? *shrugs*)..
Err..
Tenebrous Tentacles sticking out of your back (maybe grabbing the group ahead of you as a Super Speed animation?), sword/s, gun/s, a/some sword/s and gun/s, rocket launcher, guitar, backpacks which're big, small, leather, cloth, for traveling tech or arcane.....
*sips Relentless*
Power generators in both Tech and Arcane (you can get inspiration from the Base items, doesn't have to be all new and fancy), tech generator with jacob's ladder like the Freakshow, just a jacob's ladder strapped to your back, a volley of arrows stuck in you, chainsaw, helicopter propeller which animates in flight like Inspector Gadget, toolbox, steampunk boiler, scrap metal in a net, fish is a fishing net with or without fishing rod, teleport pack like the Sky Raiders, an arcane and steampunk teleport pack too, half of the Forcefield Generator attached to your back and for that matter also the Triange Beacon, fold up chair (won't somebody think of the wrestlers!?), general melee weapons from Axe to.. Well, I don't know any melee weapons that start with Z but you get the idea..
Hmm.. Think that's all I can think of for back items. The only other thing I'd like to see added would be for most Auras to have an alternate In Combat version, so they're only active when you're in a fight like the Cyborg auras.
Ooh wait! I also want to be able to have a giant inflatable alligator attached to my back. -
Maybe extending it to your server-side friends list (how often is it used now with global friends?) would have more impact. Remember, veteren rewards are meant to be small, but noticable perks which make a veteren stand out from the crowd (costume items/pets) or to address with small issues which help keep the game fresh for the long term players (Permanent temp attacks/lower level travel powers).. At least that is how I understand it, do correct me if I'm wrong.
I like this idea, it sounds like something which might be useful occasionally, it's something I havn't seen suggested before and it can also serve as a sort of gimmick, a bit of pazazz which shows you have been playing for a long time so you have some shiny tools. -
-
Something else to think about is that, if something like this is put in, it'd likely be confined to brand new powers/power sets as I believe there's an unwritten rule that they will not change the very core aspects of a power unless it's absolutely needed?
That said, I'd love it if the Gravity pet Singularity pulled enemies towards it and did damage once they were inside, so to speak, or if the ST Scrapper Taunts had a reverse knockback/repel effect (You WILL fight me, even if I have to pull you here kicking and screaming!). -
One of the executive office chairs (or something like that, high backed leather office chair) which has been sunken into the floor, or has part of it hiding under a dirt mound or something, makes a very effective tombstone.
-
Only if customisation allowed for a rolled up newspaper, rubber duck or wet fish aswell.

Get one 50 of every 'damage' AT (what I see as the damage ATs anyhow). So far I have Brute, Scrapper, Blaster, Mastermind and Bane sorted, on the todo list is Crab (not using dual builds), Dominator, Stalker, Corruptor and Night Widow.
Completely IO out at least one character with sets only, and to do it well. It's either going to be my MA/SR Scrapper (35) or Dark/Fire Brute (28), but got a tidy sum stashed away for when they're 40+.
I also want every character in a SG base and to have it in working order, or at least have it suitable for RPing in. I'm not going to put multiple chars in the same SG if I make them myself, so going to be fun juggling the bases. -
Energy Blast/Martial Arts Blaster, then Beet shall be perfect.
Spines/Shield Brute, because I have a great costume, concept and name for a char but it needs to be Spines/Shield.
Melee Set/Buff&Debuff AT.. Martial Arts/Radiation Emission? Dark Melee/Kinetics? Stone Melee/Empathy? Pleeeeeeease -
Judging by the shackles, they were prisoners. I'm willing to bet they were prisoners of the Praetorians, possibly a last ditch effort to get to the Resistance, well.. Last ditch untill whatever plan shall be enacted with Going Rogue. Perhaps one of the Praetorians mucking about with the Banished Pantheon?
-
Conceptually, I adore the Vahzilok first and foremost, as to me they're the most chilling and sinister. They're whole thing is that they kidnap people/steal dead bodies then *use* them for spare parts. Close second would be the Freakshow, for reasons Basilisk stated.
To fight, I very much enjoy the Council/5th Column because of their diversity but lack of any true strengths or weaknesses. They're not a pain to fight, but they aren't boringly easy, they are just fun. -
Sticking to about +0/x5 no bosses on my AR/En. AoE and ST beast, but I don't trust my connection and computer speed enough to handle more difficult spawns.
-
I've wanted to make a classic hero kinda guy, super strong invulnerable type who can fly, but Brutes are far more fun than Tankers so awaiting GR to finally get my smashy Hero characters.

A nice looking build, but of course several filler powers so you can keep with the petless 'theme', making it relatively easy to change to be an average Mastermind (which looks pretty darn effective to boot), but that's not what it's there for. Nice use of franken-slotting in the higher up powers, but of course a few more set bonuses could be achieved here and there, like using Smashing Haymaker in Knockout Blow for additional bonuses and the extra damage slotting, or changing some of the ones in Boxing/Air Sup. to Smashing Haymaker instead so you can continue with Ghost Widow's Embrace to keep the super hold you have.
It's given some food for thought on how to use sets on a Mastermind. I'm a big fan of +hp, so it's fun to see a good build which incorporates it as wholly as this does, whilst keeping within a set limit power-wise. -
Ignoring the min/max nutters, that was quite poetic. The idea of a petless Mastermind to me is quite fun, if potentially frustrating due to most likely being able to recreate a far more successfull Corruptor.
It cost you 1 Billion then? How long did it take to accumilate that, or was it just a dip into your funds? If you had to really work to gather the inf to make that build, then hats off to you, but if it's just pocket money set aside for it then wow, wish I had such freedom with the ingame funds for the occasional fun build.
Could you send me the build via PM? My main Mastermind, who just so happens to be Thugs/Poison/Mako actually, has a psuedo-Blastermind secondary build which just has the Enforcers (since I havn't enough inf to IO them out to be as effective as you've shown) and I'd be interested to see how you've got your character set up. -
Personally, I would like the Fury bar to be bigger, or harder to gain but give a bigger damage bonus. Say each attack you use only adds 1 fury, and each attack you receive only adds 1, but for each point of fury you have you gain a 3 or 4% damage buff (rather than the 2% now), which effectively makes it more difficult to gain fury, but once you're at the higher leagues you're a true force to be reckoned with.
Brutes have an 850% damage cap, which is very difficult to take advantage of solo (which, to be honest, CoV is mostly catering for). It takes specialised sets (easy to see why SS/Shield is so popular) and alot of inspirations when solo to get close to the Brute's potential, so I'd like to see a change in order to make it applicable in solo content.. Maybe add a small recovery buff per point of fury for the more endurance extensive sets too. -
All the information you have there looks spot on to me. The thing about Fury is that, yes, you gain it when you're attacked and when you attack, but it's also under a constant drain even as you're fighting. Due to rapidly changing fights, varying recharge times and (I think) different attacks you use gaining different amounts of fury (might be wrong with this, but I think the longer the animation time, the more fury you gain from it?) your Fury will fluctuate wildly, all you really need to know is that so long as you're fighting, it goes up.
For each point of fury you have, you gain a 2% damage buff, meaning if the Brute only needs a 130% damage buff to be on par with Scrappers, then you will be surpassing them after 65% fury. The difficulty is lasting long enough to get to and stay at that point, usually leading to how well they manage endurance rather than whether they can survive the damage they take.. But that's not always a problem anyhow.
Long story short.. More you fight, more Fury you get, and the more fury you have, the better you fight, you just need the endurance and survivability to get rolling and to not stop, and try and stay over 60% Fury. -
I don't see a few % differences in damage as an issue on a Brute build, as the combination of Fury and inbuild +damage (in this case, Soul Drain) makes up for it somewhat, but I certainly get what you mean, every bit of damage helps. The build I posted was very much made with my play style in mind, so I'm glad it's just being used for inspiration for your own. The combination is alot of fun and a bit of a challenge, but a bit more challenge in this game can be seen as a good thing
Have fun with the combo! -
Off the top of my head..
Lord Darvek, SS/Elec/Mu. My first villain 50 and only level 50 Brute, lots of fun but a challenge at times, especially in ITFs. He can tank, but only just, but Foot Stomp makes for some good quick mitigation on a team. Only running on default IOs right now, except for FS which is fully kitted with Scirroco's Dervish.
Lazerate, Claws/WP. Level 33 and is near enough a blender on legs, doubt I'll be leveling them any further as all I have left to look forward to power wise are things to improve survivability, of which he already has buckets of. Silly fun, but not much to look forward to. Works very well as both a Tank as main damage dealer, specialising in cutting down larger groups with Eviscerate and Spin (not getting Shockwave). Planning to only run on default IOs, but currently just on normal SOs.
Voltrage, Elec/Fire. Currently level 28 and lots of fun but feels alot squishier than my other Brutes, which can be annoying when you're near enough forced to solo on the default difficulty. Not really tried teams, so can't say much about it. Only running on SOs, doubt I'll level them high enough to really consider IOs.
Overstriker, DM/Fire. Just at level 25 (I can smell that Soul Drain it's so close..), but WOW is that a crazy Brute. With the shields mostly running as IOs mules and mez protection, it's all up to the two heals to keep him alive. It's an utterly insane combo which you have to be very aggressive with in order to stay alive, and if the gaming gods smile upon you, will literally be unstoppable due to the two endurance siphons along with the quick recharging heals. Silly fun solo or in a team and, with an IO build all planned out, quite powerful too. Planning on getting Soul Mastery for some AoE damage and debuffs. -
I have a Dark/Fire at level 25 and it's a joy to play. The Fire shields are really only there for the mez protection with most of the survivability coming out of the two heals being spammed like crazy, and when I say spammed I mean spammed.
Stamina can be a good idea as the two +ends don't return much if you're fighting an EB, AV or GM and, thus, just have one target to draw off of. I've also found I'm running out of endurance before one of the end siphons have recharged even with Stamina.
Here is the current planned build if you'd like to have a look around it, I went primarily for +hp, regeneration and recharge whilst keeping it as cheap as possible, but managed to get a nice chunk of defense there too. (I also have a soft spot for Shadow Maul)

An additional AT for each side, not an EAT. I really really want a Melee and Buff/Debuff AT, and I think it would be a a great addition. The Hero version could be Melee/Buff&Debuff to give them a slightly more Corruptorish style of play, when Villain can go Buff&Debuff/Melee for their Defender style.
Best names I've seen for them would be Commander for Heroes and Oppressor for Villains, with an inherant which offers some sort of survivability (resistance, defense, regeneration or a combination thereof) per enemy in melee, like Rise to the Challenge, or Invincibility. Give them damage numbers between Tanker and Scrapper and Buff/Debuff on par with Controllers, plus when teamed with a HEAT let them give a small regeneration or +hp bonus.
I think it would make a fun addition to the current gang of Archtypes, plus it's a small hole that needs filling (other than pets/damage set.. Maybe have that as the Hero one, Melee/Pets?) plus no new ATs have been added which don't need to be unlocked. -
I would love to see more Vahzilok, maybe have them return for 30-40 doing deals with the Freakshow on Heroes, then the Meat Doctors can be transferred over too.
I could see the Cadavers and/or Abominations being underlings, with Mortificators and Meat Doctors being Minions and Eidolons as Lieutenants (similar to the Crey leveling up with their power suits going from Boss to Lieut to Minion). For bosses, hulked up masses of flesh/Freakshow tech similar to the good Doctor himself, with a detonation pack for when they get on low health could work.
As for Doctor Vahzilok, he can show up again at the end of a two-part arc from 30-35, then 35-40, making deals with some high ranking Freakshow, with both parties having been upgraded by each other.
Dr Vahz would have to be beefed up by Freak tech, with a better gun and more bodies attached to his armour, the odd metal spike sticking out from here and there. Add in a damage aura, full auto and/or flamethrower variant and better damage resistances. The Freakshow deal maker could be a large Tank with a circular saw as one weapon and large gun like Dr Vahz'.
Speaking of, always wondered why there was a Freak Tank Gunner with a gatling gun for one hand and rocket launcher for the other.. That would have to be added too.
I would also like to redo the Minions of Igneous, put them up to level 10-50 and move them to more zones. Give them some presence in Faultline, Siren's Call, Founders and Eden. Add in a TF/Trial/Arc where you try and stop a forthcoming war or alliance between Igneous and DE.. Maybe a badge or two.. They could be a force to be reckoned with if buffed up through the levels and given powers like Mud Pots, Earthquake, Stalagmites (AoE mez version) or Foot Stomp. Throw an Inferno and/or Rise of the Phoenix at the Magmite Lords and you have a powerful rival to the Devouring Earth. -
51 months here, couple more months before 54. Would prolly be there by now if I hadn't taken all those little breaks now and again, but hey it keeps the game fresh and fun.
Looking forward to Going Rogue, if only for the slew of new players to show off to -
Quote:Dr Von Goldfish is please. That is AWESOME!
I know one of the other players on union has a Dr von Goldfish. Tell me what image it conjures up in your head...go on...think about it...
If you pictured a Goldfish in a bowl ontop of a robot body you'd be thinking the same thing as everyone else when they hear the name...instead he's a half man/half goldfish (like Captain Mako is half man/half shark) mad scientist.
After the game having been out for such a long time, many of the good names have been taken, even the more obscure ones are being snatched away in the dead of night. I congratulate those who have grabbed their dream names, and wish those of you who're still looking good luck
Managed to get a few gems over the years though.. And most of them recent. Baked Potato for instance (Fire/Fire Scrapper) was a particularly fun choice to acquire, as everyone seems to make fun of the name, but you all wish you had it. Aswell as that I've got Brass Monday and Lazerate, all of which are on Union.
Few others without pics (I like showing off costumes, so shoot me) are a Martial Arts Scrapper called Storm Foot, evil magic char called Urith, eviler mutant called Spruk (Neither have a particular meaning I don't think, don't quote me on that), an Australian wizard called Underthrow and once had Salvager on Defiant, which I lost since transfering him to Union and having to rename them to Salvaged Abomination.
