  1. Nothing running except City of Heroes. On the latest trial I installed Windows XP 32, AVG, and City of Heroes. Same effect. I disabled AVG recently and just ran City of heroes, no difference. Other than the normal stuff that comes with Windows XP ( non Branded version, just plain off the retail shelf Windows XP Pro ) it only has CoX. Each Operating system also is on a separate drive with lots of space free for a pagefile.

This evening I tried setting the pagefile to custom ( 1.5x the RAM ), then setting it to windows controlled, no differences on any of the operating systems. I'm about ready to see if the darn thing will run under Linux.
  2. Same computer. Problem is that the CPU jumps to 100% usage, not sure if the network lag would cause that would it?

  4. Which operating system would you guys prefer? Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP?
  5. I don't think a HijackThis report will do any good in this case since the problem occurs on completely separate installs of:

    Windows 7 64-bit
    Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
    Windows XP Professional 32-bit

The Windows XP install I put up yesterday, and after it finished installing I installed my anti-virus ( AVG 8.5 Licensed ) then City of Heroes from my original install disks and then updated to the latest patch and the problem was the same.

As far as the Common Solutions and Threads, I've tried everything in there as well as looked at the rest of the Windows 7 Threads, but like I said... it's not just windows 7 ( stated plainly in my original post )
  6. I've been having some really curious issues with both Windows Vista and Windows 7 and CoX. It was fine one day, then seriously bugged the next. What happens is that when I start playing, for about 5-10 minutes, everything is perfectly fine. FPS of about 59-65 on full graphics settings. Then my FPS drops to 0 for a about a second, then goes to the normal 50-60 for a couple seconds, then back to 0 and over and over. It will do that over and over like clockwork.

I have a good system that should handle this game without a problem, I've tried pulling one video card and going to a single, tried disabling SLI, disabling dual monitors... I even tried installing a completely fresh version of Windows XP and it started the same thing... with only Windows XP, CoX, and my virus scanner ( which I tried turning it of, no difference ).

I have two monitors, one 22inch Widescreen and one 19 inch Widescreen. Resolution is normal for both, default values. I've tried rolling back my drivers to all previous versions for Windows 7 and on Windows Vista down to the 181, same with XP. Running it on three operating systems, and having one be a fresh install with only CoX installed on it leaves out spyware and such so I'm not bothering with a HijackThis report. I've tried everything I can think of and being as close as I am to the issue I'm asking for help since I'm completely at wits end.

Hope somebody can think of something I have overlooked. The problems started in earnest around the 5th of June give or take.
