Quote:Which I guess is understandable and just tough luck for the German & French pages, but why don't they just use the NA page for the English version? And they're somewhat limited on what gets put over there as it needs to be translated to 2 additional languages... at least that's what they used to say.
I'm sure in the past it was because the forum/support links would have been different, but now?
They could at least use the same picture as the NA version, surely? -
Quote:You're assuming that it's possible to transfer supergroups (or even merge servers, it's never been done here). You're also assuming people won't scream blue murder when they get their supergroups (assuming they can be transferred) and their characters renamed and simply rage-quit.I never said you did, I was saying the fact you don't want a server merge seems to be out of cliquey kind of thinking rather than what would actually be best... It'd be great if we did actually get merged, it'd solve all the problems of not many people and mean we wouldn't lose our supergroups like we did with a server list merge (nearly everyone would migrate to somewhere not dead given a chance anyway, meaning the only things left and wasted would be supergroups which are actually the one thing that is hardest to build up RE prestige)
At least with a list merge any migration from the EU servers to others (which isn't a given) can happen under the control of individual players, instead of forcing it on them; all a EU player would have to lose is their current global name. -

Quote:No, that would just guarantee that most EU players would simply leave the game; terrible idea.We don't need a server list merge, we need Union and Defiant to be merged into Virtue.
One server list, (preferably merging my accounts!) or having vet time/retail codes applied to my NCSoft Master Account instead of to my NA/EU accounts so I get all the stuff I've paid for on an account I use would be my preference. -
Quote:This. At least then one could decide where they want to play easily on a daily basis and join in community events EU side if they came up.
Once my EU sub runs out at the end of this month, I won't be playing on Union or Defiant at all; if they were on my server list, I would. -
Quote:Define 'a lot'.I couldn't disagree more.
I have noticed since I17 landed there are a lot more returning players and also a lot of new players.
Let's hope that the trend continues
I logged on a fair few times over the weekend and ended up going back to Virtue each time (where I see new players every day, going by their vet badges); perhaps the market being down has kept people away?
I spoke to a few global friends and not one of them was gushing about how busy the EU servers were, quite the reverse.
I really wanted to come back to the game after a year off, I was looking forward to picking up my old characters; but resubbing to the EU this month has convinced me that I'll be buying GR on the other side of the pond.
If the EU servers were a horse, I'd shoot it. -
Quote:I was in a team just like this on Friday - except I was one of two Corrs (and occasionally the only Corr) - in a team of Demon MMs.six of the eight were DS MMs (the other two were Spiders).
...
The really fun part is every time one of the group had to leave the replacement was another DS MM!
I would have hated to be a brute on that team!
After a while a Thugs MM joined...it seems he hadn't got the memo! -

...just confirming for you Carni - that is where I stuck it after 30 minutes of trying to convince Windows that I do in fact have permission to use my own sodding machine...and giving up.

Quote:Tried that myself earlier on in the week. Copied to c:\users\[username]\Games\CoHTest\
* ran it and pointed the installer at the same folder but got the Permission error. Even tried "Run as Administrator" but no cigar. Has me a bit stumped. My actual CoH client is running happily in c:\users\[username]\Games\CoH\ though. -
Quote:Ohh.. I had a permissions problem getting the NA Test set up on Vista last week...I can't quite remember how I got around it off-hand*, but I'll take a look tonight and see if I can work out what I did.Still no idea how to get Test working on Windows 7 / Vista though, keep getting a Permissions error regardless of the foldername.
(*I think I might have had to install outside of the Program Files directory, but don't quote me until I've checked) -

Quote:Damn fine point. I'd add - as an ex-Empathy defender - if I wanted to blast I'd play a blaster, but that doesn't mean I expect everyone else to think the same.If I wanted to fight with melee powers I'd be playing a scrapper.
My defender was made as a team support character; it was created to heal & buff so all my power choices were infomed by that. I never had more than 3 powers from the secondary, I had everything from the primary and a bunch of useful pool powers. What, I'm supposed to ditch the leadership pool so I can shoot more? Ditch TP friend so I can shoot more?
I fully slotted my attacks and used them (and I'd always be in the thick of it - I hate the 'stand-at-the-back-with-heal-aura-on-auto 'healers'), but I wasn't going to kid myself that I was adding significant DPS - even when I briefly had the Nova.
I've met a few Empathy defenders in my time who took the opposite approach - they took one or two Empathy powers and spent most of their time blasting, which is also perfectly fine, so long as they make it clear that they won't be supporting the team with heals & buffs.
There's no reason to kick anyone over their power choices, it's all good. -
Quote:I like this 'detective-work-based-on-salvage-clues' idea - maybe you could have random drops which were mob specific, you gather a few and combine them to unlock a special mission featuring that mob type...perhaps different clue elements could be used to generate missions similar to newspaper missions, but with more control; you find an enemy-type 'clue', a job 'clue' (robbery, kidnap, etc) and a location 'clue' (warehouse, cave, etc) and you combine the elements into a 'lead' that would unlock a mission featuring those elements - sort of 'Architect-light'.The most I can see is simulated detective work, where you gather salvage pieces called "clues" and end up "inventing" actual evidence in the same why that the Lost Curing Wand is created. It would put more tangibility on clues if you had them in your inventory, rather than having a bit of text saying "You took this plot device from a named boss. It is important." The developers once said that anything earnable through the regular rewards system should be earnable through though Inventions, so that's a good place to start looking.
It would give street sweeping a purpose other than grinding xp/inf if beating up a few dozen Skulls gives you a lead on a robbery that some Bone Daddy is planning; it would be a little more immersive than just listening to the radio/reading the paper too (although much slower, these would have to be extra missions, and a little more interesting to be worth the effort unlocking them).
I would like to see more general 'puzzle' stuff too, but whatever they add has to be totally optional, or it will just annoy some players. -
Quote:Sadly the 'reflective flooring' of the Atlas city hall is actually an optical illusion.
It's not a true reflection instead they built the atlas city hall upsidedown underneath the regular city hall, made the floor semi-transparent and wholia! Reflective flooring.
That's the reason it doesn't reflect players is because it's not actually a proper reflection.
wow..really?
I would never have guessed that!
...that is an AWESOME cheat!
I hope they 'fix' it sometime in the future, but now when I see it I won't be miffed that I can't see me - thanks! -
Does the floor in City Hall in Atlas reflect player models now? I remember being disappointed that it didn't when I first saw it.
I tried on test and it didn't for me, but I dunno if I just haven't got the hang of the Ultra Mode settings. -
Quote:I like your answer to the first one. As for the second one, one or more of those characters could be punctuation... "server-list" is 11 characters.Ok I think I seriously got the first one in relation to war witchs post it makes sense too....
XXX XXXXXXX XXXXXX
new teaming system
Regarding the EU problem with teams that makes sense :P lol
Now the second one... 11 letter words... there cant be that many surelyfirst word is most likely 'New'
EDIT: guess wronghttp://clubefl.gr/games/wordox/11.html get searching people for anything that makes sense
Or black pebble could just give us one random letter? lol

Quote:1) Yes I know. Low population on the main servers equates to insignificant population on the test server, was the point I was attempting to make.1) They were talking about the test servers.
2) What time did you log in to find that few players?
3) Character names, Vet rewards and Super/Threat Group names and bases do mean a lot to the majority of the EU population. They are what they find fun about the game.
4) Yes, please merge the server LISTS.
2) I logged on a couple of times on each server between 8:30-10:30, Saturday night - I would consider that prime-time. This might not be the 'best time' but it's when I wanted to play ie - it was the best time for me. I'd left one of my alts - on Defiant - near the IP entrance in King's Row, I flew to the Atlas statue and saw ONE other player.
3) and they're important to me too. I have serveral names I'm very attached to; several level 50's; a couple of SG bases; a pile of inf. It took me a while to realise that although they're a large part of what I enjoy about the game, they're not as important to me than other things. In an ideal world Defiant & Union would still be my servers of choice; I don't live in that world.
4) I've waited a long time...long enough, I really don't think they will, which is why I've jumped. I'm still hopeful that the thing they're working on to address this stuff actually works; if it does I'll be back.
I'm not arguing the "OMG teh EU Servers are dead" line - having been accused of that in the past when all I've said was they were "getting a bit quiet" I'm well aware that there is a loyal community on these servers. I'm aware there are lots of people who play every night and find teams, but I didn't. I ended up teaming with the same people all the time. I didn't find many (non-farm) PUGs when I left a year ago and I don't see why that would be any different now.
All I'm saying is:
I like PUGs more than all the stuff keeping me on the EU servers - I like broadcasting 'lvl x lft' and getting a team; for me personally this is one of the main attractions of this game and always has been.
I guess I don't really like 'the european family feel'; I don't like everyone on the server knowing me, or me knowing everyone, it feels like living in a village.
Sorry if anyone finds this offensive, it really wasn't meant to be. -
-
Not trying to get all doomy, but I don't think many EU players realise just how 'few' they are. I was very disappointed when I logged in briefly over the recent free weekend (at prime time) and saw a total of 3 other players on Union, and one on Defiant.
Admittedly, I didn't go out of my way to find people, I just flew around Atlas, King's Row & the Hollows, but (to me at least) 'the number of people who have nothing better to do than stand under the Atlas statue' is as valid an indicator of population as any other.
I logged in at the free weekend because I was starting to miss the game after being away for a year, I was ready to come back, but resubbing to the EU servers right now would feel like a waste of my money; there's no way I'll be buying GR in the EU if things don't change.
I've moved (for how long I don't know) to Virtue (yes I know it's one of the more populated servers, it's why I'm there), which feels like Defiant from 3 years ago; if I want a team (and I do, which is why I'm not in CO), I ask in broadcast and get one - instantly - so far. I spent the whole of yesterday in PUGs and it was like I'd never left.
At the end of the day, character names, Vet rewards supergroup bases & inf reserves mean nothing if the game isn't any fun.
This game is huge amounts of fun when there are people to play with.
Please merge the server lists. -

Street sweeping is one CoH's strong points; nothing more heroic for a level 3 hero than whacking a few punks stealing purses...unlike in another *cough*similar*cough* game, you actually get rewarded for it here.
And its not just fun for lowbies, my fire blaster spent many happy levels street sweeping in DA. -
