  1. A little late (or early depending on how you look at it): cross faction zoning.
    big heads
set knockdown/back to knock up, set gravity to moon gravity.
  2. On a more random note: Dr. Aeon disabled his rep so hard that he even got rid of the scales.
  3. Well, it *was* in the rules from the beginning, or at least very near the beginning (I think I might have clarified the rules after the first couple days or so). I think there's been a pretty good mix of authors voting for their own arc in either place, voting for other's arcs, and abstaining.

I have to admit to a little disappointment in this decision. I mean, if they can make new icons for Guest Writers, I kind of thought they could make one for contest award winners. Had they done so, then they could have immediately given the runners up Dev's Choice, or even created a MA Award Runner up Icon and listed them below the winners. After all, the winners would still have the leg up in prizes.

Then they could have started giving arcs that almost made the cut Dev's Choices, thereby spreading the wealth a bit and adding incentive for future award submissions. It just seems like another lost opportunity to promote MA activity.
They didn't technically make a new icon for Guest Author. It's been there since i14 beta. Several of the Dev's Arcs were under the Guest Author icon. I think (hope) what they are doing is giving the winners dev choice over the nominees for a certain period of time, then awarding the nominees either all at once, or one at a time with their own posts, like they've been doing. If they keep a regular pace on the Dev Choice forum posts, I would expect to start seeing some of the nominees show up before too long.
  5. Congratulations! Even though I personally preferred your arc "The Missing" over this one, it was still great fun as well.
  6. Freshly updated just now:

    Come one!

    Come All!

Take a chance and play Whack-a-Mole! #2711 (currently listed as by "Burnt Matchstick")

For a limited time only, a special Halloween Edition! Try to get the high score! Only takes 15 minutes! (mini-boss challenge, 10 mole bosses pop up on two different maps with a total of 15 minutes to beat them)
  7. Time for me to vote on best serious arc. A very difficult choice, with a lot of great arcs ending up here. In fact, three winners of the official MA Arc contest ended up in this category, as well as one hall of fame. And while it may not seem fair, I will use my votes to help recognize the other two arcs, which are just as well made. If you want to know, Blight I think would have edged these two out by a hair, and the other three are only on the other side of my votes by a hair as well.

#1: Kiss Hello Goodbye #156389 @Kitsune9tails - A very well done film noir, 20's pulp detective saga, with that great hard boiled voice to it.
#2: Karmic Exchange #47550 @Braxzana - A little slow to start, but finishes with quite a bang where I spent a lot of time during the timed mission trying to decide what choice I was going to make.
  8. Had some fun tonight. Started out as planned with Wrong_Number leading us on:

    The Storyteller: Sabrina's Tale #1237 by @Redbone

Then we lost half the team and continued on with

15+ minute tutorial - Knowledge is Power: Architect Entertainment #28470 by @Paula

And finished off with the last three teammates running a Whack-a-Mole #2711 race where Sure Thing won.
  9. In full agreement with the masses:

    Foo.
  10. And another group completed as well: Best DO range arc:

1st: Invasion of the Bikini-clad Vampiresses from Outer Space (Didn't catch the first mission, but it still grabbed my attention enough to win me over, even above my own arc)
2nd: Sibling Rivalry (Fun arc, and also because I can't completely remove it from the fact that it's inspired and partly written by an 8 year old)

I was going to vote for myself, but I decided I'd rather give the inf away than possibly keep it for myself.
  11. This is another tough one for me, all the arcs are extremely well done, but I'm going to have to make my vote for Best Use of Mechanics:

1st: The Next War on Drugs - best non-combat mission I've played, and I have played more than one. Also great chaining throughout the arc.
2nd: MacGuffin Delivery Service - First partly non-combat mission I've played, and also great use of chaining throughout the arc.

I was going to avoid posting my thoughts on the arcs to avoid influencing voters, but I don't think what I say will really influence anyone that much.

Grim Riddles: Excellent concept with a nice hook that follows throughout the arc. Though it's a single mechanic used throughout.
Speeding Through Time: A memorable use of mechanics in mission 3, though the rest are fairly straightforward.
The Beating Heart of Astoria: Very nice use of spawning to chain dialog, and excellent story. My two votes just barely edged this one out. Also, I'm likely going to be voting for Cheshire in his other category.
  12. Was going to mention NSFW needs 2 clicks until I saw the one below. The sketch by itself is still a little risque knowing that it's supposed to be tights. And you can't change the title of the thread as it shows on the forum, even if you change the title of the first post.

edit: Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that it looks fantastic!

    6. Arc of the Year: This final, and pinnacle award, will be selected from all of the submitted arcs for the other five categories.
Says nothing about from the winners of the other five categories.

(and as much as it seems like I'm being a stickler for the rules, it really doesn't have anything to do with me not winning. At this point, I'm mostly over it)

You know, Imma let you finish, but I just wanted to say that Whack-a-Mole #2711 is the greatest arc of all time!!

*excuse me sir, but you didn't enter Whack-a-Mole into the contest*

    Really? Oh, nevermind then
  15. About one post in 30 for me.

    Indiana - Comcast
  16. Welcome to the Stories and Lore section, more reviewers are always welcome. Please check out my arc:

    Matchstick Women #3369
    level range: 25+
    Missions: 3
  17. When I do the results post, I'll be looking at as many statistics as I can. I'm tracking 4 different types of ways to calculate final winners based on two picks (first pick only, first and second pick equal, first pick 2 points - second pick 1 point, first pick 3 points - second pick 2 points) I'll also look at how voting for yourself impacted the vote, and any other things that come to mind between now and then.
  18. Was just looking at the tags: epic fail, and what the eff. I don't understand them at all. The winners might not be well known, and two of them might be controversial choices to some. But they've all been judged fairly, and the devs made their choice and I will stick up for them.
  19. I was just double checking the original page and I saw this:

Arc of the Year Architect Award Winner Prize Package (1 winner)

    • 1 Sapphire ATI HD 3650 512MB GDDR3 video card
    • 1 Logitech G330 headset
    • 1 Razer Lycosa keyboard
    • 1 Razer DeathAdder mouse
    • 1 Razer Destructor mouse pad

Other Architect Award Winner Prize Package (5 winners)

    • 1 Sapphire ATI HD 3650 512MB GDDR3 video card
    • 1 Logitech G330 headset
    • 1 Razer DeathAdder mouse
    • 1 Razer Destructor mouse pad

That's 1 arc of the year winner, and 5 winners for each category. So, does Redbone get both the grand prize *and* the runner up prize? Which are practically the same.
  20. And so far

Voted for themselves 1st place: 5
Voted for themselves 2nd place: 1 (I plan on voting myself second as well)
    Didn't vote for themselves: 1
  21. It's not cheating. It's perfectly fair to consider your own arc better than the other nominees. I feel more along the lines that it's cheating to force someone to vote for someone else's arc and take themselves one step further from winning.

    NOT Sour Grapes

Agreed on all points. As for myself, I'm sad, but I'm not bitter. When I get around to playing Sabrina's Tale, I will definitely be playing it with an extra critical eye. And I would very much like to hear the reasoning for why the devs chose what they chose over what they didn't. And hopefully it's not something along the lines of "these people are prominent in the forums, so they already have a lot going for them."
  23. Hero Arc: Most Important Thing by Aisyana
Villain Arc: Internship in the Fine art of Revenge by Twoflower
Canon Arc: Tales of Croatoa: A Rose by Any Other Name by @Silvers1 aka Hercules
Original Story: Sabrina's Tale by Redbone (almost broke my refresh button for those 20 seconds)
Villain Group: Blight by Witch Engine
Arc of the Year: Sabrina's Tale by Redbone.

That's a little disappointing, I think Arc of the Year shouldn't have won both categories. But congratulations to all the winners. I've only played Hercules's but I will definitely play the others. All but twoflower's are also nominatees in my Player Choice Awards, so good luck to them there as well.
