  1. I actually did play this, but thought that creature was supposed to be there (at least, I thought it was funny). That might explain why I've been getting low rates on my dev's choice arc.

I like that one, but don't forget the disclaimer or it's not eligible to win.

  4. That's the big problem with changing the market. I imagine it's quite hard to get much of a stress test as most people aren't interested in testing the market on the test server.
  5. I'll try to be on tomorrow night around 7 pm-ish EST.

If any new people are reading this, there's still lots of space available, hopefully we can get things kicking and rolling.

  6. I'm glad I'm not seeing Comrade Hero's bits and pieces like I first thought. But those pieces are quite nice.
  7. My favorite memory:

The 6 year Anniversary event on Liberty.

    .

yes, I have a short memory.
  8. I get that graphics glitch all the time in some form or another. Never get lucky enough to get something that looks so cool... or creepy.
  9. I like the second one, but I agree that it's a bit hard to read and could be brighter and less contrast.
  10. Here's mine from the most awesome Liberty Villainside!!

    What's this?

Sounds like a fun idea. Any plans in place to help avoiding "mr. random button" winning?
  12. Wow, there's a tie for first (which has changed places between four different people), and the top 5 are separated by only 6 points. Superwow, I'm one of those top five O_o.

*Note - my count is not official and has been known to be slightly off.
  13. Fri nights are best for me, avail pretty much any time after 5pm EST.
  14. Oops, I don't know what I was thinking. Yes, Saturday night, around the same time range. We'll narrow it down as we get more people that might have narrow schedules.

    Excellent Arcs

I was pretty sure I'd seen you around the forums, that's why I listed you. But I've got several others from authors I haven't seen around in a little while, or quite a while. Like Suedenim, Anachrodragon and Londerwost, the Cheshire Cat, and Tahlana.
  16. I think if we do have a buy-in month, it should be no later than July. That leaves almost half the year so it's not a last minute buy-in. Everyone is allowed to submit a piece - withdrawn/DQ'ed/eliminated contestants, and brand new people. Contestant voting works as normal with an elimination, and each person gets one additional vote for the non-contestants. The winning non-contestant wins their way back in the competition.

    Excellent Arcs

    I'll mention a few I think

Past Echoes of Tomorrow #379399 by @Equation aka Arbiter Fabulous

This was submitted for Aeon's second challenge and it's very well written with several of the characters going through their own arcs throughout this... arc.

Chris Jenkins: Attorney at Law #204942 by @Johphiel

An older arc that's held it's age well. A simple one-mission arc with a lot of fun lawyer humor in it.

Task Force Mutternacht #349522 by @twelfth

Made for the first Aeon's Challenge, and if I remember correctly it was one of my favorites that wasn't dev's choiced.

There's several more that are pretty nice, but I don't think the author is active anymore.
  18. I'm just thrilled I got a first place vote. Only took four months! Really amazed and glad to see how spread out the votes are. I'm keeping track of this myself, and every single vote almost is completely changing the rankings.

    Some quick statistics:

Points separating first through third place: 1
Points separating fifth through eight place: 4

very very close race so far here.
  19. It's that time again, and from what I've heard it seems like I get to see the more serious side of LaserJesus's writing in

Holding Down the Fort #379065 by @LaserJesus

The Heroes Lose Their Power: This one is all handled in the sidelines. Lord Recluse's Web Machine stole all the power of the Freedom Phalanx and so all the high powered, but lesser known heroes are all battling him in the Rogue Isles while the lower powered heroes like myself fill in at Paragon City. While the arc is good, as far as the guidelines of the contest go, this explanation is a little too far off on the sidelines, and aside from the reason why the contact needs me specifically is the only impact it has throughout the whole arc.

Appropriate for the level range?: Yes, I only had a few deaths, and that was from multiple spawns being close to each other.

The Arc as an Arc: Aside from the contest specific nit-pick, I thought the arc was totally solid. Lots of interesting things going on, nothing too difficult, bits of his trademark humor showing up here and there, all in an interesting story and a well developed contact personality.

As usual, tweets below in order.

Bubbawheat #CoHMA Running Holding Down the Fort # 379065 by @ LaserJesus
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M1: Contact is Detective Freitag who tells me about Recluse's Web Machine keeping the big name heroes occupied.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M1: The Council are after a museum, heroes are already on the scene, more information in mission begin clue dossier.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M1: Dossier highlights the Dagger of T'Loltec c/o The Midnight Club, as well as highlighting Council Vamirii, Galaxy, and Warwolves.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M1: Ran into some random Freakshow guarding No Mind, a <Paragon Hero>
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M1: And Banished Pantheon guarding another hostage? What's going on here?
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M1: So of the artifacts of interest - according to the curator/hostage - The Dagger and Portal tech are gone, but the painting's ok.

Bubbawheat #CoHMA Continuing Holding Down the Fort # 379065 by @ LaserJesus, at least one more mission anyway.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M2: Frietag thinks the BP stole the dagger, but Polar Shift may have been kidnapped through mediport hacking.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M2: Also, nice bit of flavor about a blackout while heroes are doing a respec in the Terra Volta reactor - Rikti version.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M2: popup says the dim lights are glowing red, look blue to me.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M2: Also, another mission begin clue dossier with info about some Crey mobs that I'll be fighting.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M2: There's some <infected> in here, they seem to have escaped in the blackout.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M2: This map and/or the patrols/battles seem to have a lot of double spawns to take me down. Have to watch myself more.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M2: Burnfire? I thought I was looking for Polar Shift.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M2: So Crey were analyzing the <Infected> and wanted to use an array of Heroes to battle/test their abilities.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA Continuing Holding Down the Fort # 379065 by @ LaserJesus, re-finished M2 after it crashed on me a couple days ago.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M2: Rescued Polar Shift and come back to hear about the Crey being pulled into paddy wagons.

Bubbawheat #CoHMA M3: Little flavor in the beginning about the big battle going on in Rogue Isles. But our next concern is the Dagger of T'loltec.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M3: The dagger was taken by the BP to summon a big bad demon.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M3: Though by the compass text, "Stop Demon Summoning" I feel like I'm trying to stop i17 from coming out...
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M3: Not much in these caves besides Tiki masks and the hostage groups.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M3: Found the dagger, but there's blood on it. Now I must use it to banish the demon.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M3: That's another thing I don't like about caves - all the paths are empty, but the big rooms are all clumped together.

Bubbawheat #CoHMA M4: This arc seems to do a good job of giving the impression that the city and isles are in constant chaos.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M4: Council were the ones that stole the old portal technology but brought out Rularuu from the Shadow Shard instead of Council world
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M4: Compass text "Save the World" All in a day's work, I guess.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M4: Why aren't the Natterlings giving any XP? Brute's only giving 12 XP @ lvl 12.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M4: The <U.S. Army> seem to be prevailing over the Rularuu pretty well.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M4: Found an unexpected crystal anomaly.
    Bubbawheat #CoHMA M4: I feel like I'm slowly becoming a soldiers Mastermind...
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M4: First pass, no final glowie. Turning speakers up and trying again.
Bubbawheat #CoHMA M4:Found the comp tucked away in a little corner on the top floor. Portals secure, world saved, and the other front is over too.
  20. I enjoyed VexXxa's all red Manticore run so much that I'm stealing her idea and would like to run a themed TF, and since issue 17 is going live on Wednesday, what a perfect time to run the new Positron Task Force: The Rule of Three and Dam Heroes.

Now for the costume party part. I think it would be great to dress up as... each other! If you're interested, sign up here and post what you think your most signature character is (or if you don't feel like you have a signature character, choose a canon signature character), once we get 8 people signed up, I'll randomize the list and deal out which character gets who. You can either make a new character and get them up to level 10-15 (shouldn't take too long, right?), or just use an extra costume slot on one of your current characters - the powersets don't have to match up, it's a costume party after all. And your costume can be as exact as possible, or could also be a new spin on it. Whichever you prefer.

The time? Next Saturday evening, we'll narrow down the time as we get more sign-ups. I'd prefer to go after 9pm EST which is near my daughter's bedtime, but can get on earlier.

    The server? Virtue.

Prizes: the best costume (decided by popular vote) gets 10 million inf to be sent by global e-mail. I might also give out some costume salvage for extra prizes if I can scrounge some up.

  21. Variety is the spice of life, every time I play one of my higher level characters that I hadn't played in a while I always think to myself "I had forgotten how much *fun* this character is". From my fire/fire/Soul Brute, to my Trick Arrow/Ice defender, or blastroller as I call her, to my storm/dark defender, to my Fire/Fire/Fire blaster, they are all tons of fun everytime I play them. That's why I enjoy this game so much.
  22. Ok today I added a touch more to this arc. I finally added a second mission on the same map as the first mission, and another tie in to the first mission.

The second mission has you fighting the <Wonderland> group and rescuing the Knave of Hearts and recovering the Queen's proclamation declaring that he stole her tarts and it's now "off with his head!"

I slightly adjusted the mission intro for the first mission to have you reading the proclamation that you will get in the second mission and attacking the Knave of Hearts, carrying out the Queen's orders.
  23. These aren't exactly new, but I realized I hadn't posted them in here yet. I colored Christopher Robin's sketch of my Brute and I really like how it turned out.

And for the April Fan Art battle, I made my blaster out of popsicle sticks to fit in with the kindergarten theme.
