  3. #CoHMA Sewer Team Looking For One More #178976 by @Puercostpin, found by browsing, part of my new AE review project, hopefully.
#CoHMA Contact is Arbiter Leary, with no bio, and orders from Kalinda to take out some newbie heroes in a sewer "hazing ritual" - fun
#CoHMA M1: Though I wonder why the contact isn't just Kalinda in the first place.
#CoHMA M1: Some funny hero names and dialog "need healz", "Gratz " but a little overpowered for "newbie" heroes.
#CoHMA M1: Dr Dethdealer's asking them to follow the tank, and the filler enemy group seems to be <The Lost> so far.
#CoHMA M1: I typed too soon, the group is actually the <Sewer Scourges> who seem to be a mix of groups - next one is an <Outcast>
#CoHMA M1: funny costumes and bios to boot, though Dethdealer laid the holds on pretty thick.
#CoHMA M1: ((One of them is even RP-ing))

This was a funny, short arc with a pretty simple premise as is often the case with one mission arcs. You're a villain going after a sewer team that got split up. It's a little odd that they appear to be fighting on the side of regular sewer enemies instead of the other way around, but it's hard to do that well. And it's a funny arc. It's intended for lowbies, and it was challenging for my level 15 Dual Pistols/Dark corruptor, but doable.
  4. Nice idea, I might check a few of these out myself if I hadn't already. As for my best, I'd say:

    Matchstick Women #3369
    Level range: 25+
    Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this one from Aeon's 2nd Challenge, glad someone else found it too.
  6. Thanks for the feedback, I plan on using various things to narrow down the arcs and list here the things that work, and the things that don't. I'll be trying to skip the more well publicized arcs and hopefully find some good ones here. I wasn't able to finish the one I tried last night (due to it being late at night, and I crashed and didn't want to start over) but hoping to continue it.
  7. Search #1: 4 Star
My first thought was to take a page from ArrowRose's Excellent Arcs thread and I searched for all the four star arcs. Under the default listing was a full page of farms, speed runs, and random titles - probably more farms. Why bother with looking through pages and pages of this stuff to find something good, so it's time to narrow it down.

    Search #2: 4 Star, [X] my level
Ok, I'm playing a character in their low teens, so it would probably be a good idea to find a low level arc. So I check the "my level" box and look through the arcs. The first arc is "SAMUARI" with 999+ plays and a 1-54 level range. And again is almost a full page of farms and one real arc, which I've already played and 5 starred

    Talos Vice #338380 by @PW
    Level Range 12-20
80's detective show tribute written in screenplay form.

    Search #3: 4 Star, [X] my level, (more) Villainous/Rogue
I hadn't even realized/forgotten they added Rogue and Vigilante morality settings, and there are very few villainous arcs compared to heroic, so that should narrow things down even more. But I'm still getting a lot of 1-54 arcs, until I get to arc listing #7

Sewer Team Looking For One More #178976 by @Puercostpin
    Level Range 1-25
Eliminate the young heroes training in Paragon's sewer systems.

which I shall be playing now, and will review later. I'll be posting my as-I-go thoughts on the twitter links in my sig if you want to follow along.
  8. Ok, it's taken me a while to figure out what to do next, and I'm still not sure, but I was just browsing through the search engine trying to find an interesting arc and I thought that browsing the search engine itself might be interesting, if done right.

*First post reserved for indexing to come later*

You were using him for story reasons, but there were many exploitative farms out there scaling him to level 1 for an easy kill and big xp.
  10. The real question is how do you define a mutant at its most basic level? Not using examples, but breaking it down to what makes a mutant a mutant. And then using that definition, try to exclude these costume sets from your definition. I don't think you can without specifically trying to exclude these pieces with your definition.
  11. Bah! Photobucket's not working, here's the text version (no pics on this ad):

    Quote:
Lost: Pet Jackalope, responds to the name "Ed", if found contact Marcus Cole (401) 555-5225
The goal: see how many subtle references I can put in a single sentence ad (there's 4)
  12. Now, why don't they have spellcheck programs in digital art programs?
(and the numbers belong to real world counterpart Rhode Island businesses, figure it's not a big deal for the couple hundred views that it will get)
  13. And it's time for me to finish up with the last of the first architect challenge (that I have any interest in playing, no offense to those I didn't get to) with the winning arc,

Out of Place #350577 by @Minimalist

Evil For the Greater Good: In this arc, you're helping a captive Dr. Aeon investigate an event called Ghostmarch, where ghosts walk around in an area for a while and then disappear. It turns out that they are actually from a perpendicular dimension (not parallel) and our universes are intersecting in what will be a very explosive event. In order to prevent half of our world from being destroyed, I help Dr. Aeon use his device to channel all of the energy into the other dimension - which will most likely destroy that dimension completely. But hey, it's not like we know anything about them. It's a very morally ambiguous and tough decision - and the decision is made for you, unless you quit the arc altogether. That, and the fact that you're working with a known villain.

The Arc as an Arc: This arc is well written, with a lot of flavor. The first mission sets you in the middle of the Ghostmarch festival, with all manners of civilian activities, one of the most interesting (mostly) non-combat missions I've seen to date. Which unfortunately when the enemies do show up, they are only worth 1 XP. There's also a lot of interesting objectives throughout the arc and it's all well written with a lot of humor from Dr. Aeon, especially in the busy texts. It's been too long since I've played a lot of these first challenge arcs, so I will forgo the final thoughts post, but I really enjoyed this one and I think it is a good choice for the winning arc.

#CoHMA Running Out of Place # 350577 by @ Minimalist, winner of the first Aeon Challenge.
#CoHMA M1: Dr. Aeon has me investigating an event called Ghostmarch - where presumably fake ghosts march around and people made a festival.
#CoHMA M1: Though it's a heroic arc, I'm working with Dr. Aeon under a supervisory capacity - I'm watching him while he tries to "help".
#CoHMA M1: So far it's a noncombat map with a lot of ghosts walking around, as well as tourists and photographers. And Dr. Aeon to escort.
#CoHMA M1: There's a bunch of crates to click on, one gave me a clue, and I'm supposed to escort Aeon to one of them, but there's no marker.
    #CoHMA M1: Awww, why can't I attack the mime?
#CoHMA M1: I clicked on one of the boxes, and some more solid, more violent ghosts appeared, as well as another hero to help... somewhere.
#CoHMA M1: The hero I guess is required, though I've taken care of all the interloping ghosts first.
#CoHMA: And the ally patch hit this arc HARD - the ghosts give 1 xp each. @ lvl 39
#CoHMA M1: Dr. Aeon theorizes that these ghosts are from a perpendicular dimension, and WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE! A little overenthusiastic?

#CoHMA M2: Minimalist reminds me that he is the king of busy dialogs - Dr. Aeon pondering improving his allowed weapon - a swiss army knife.
#CoHMA M2: The perpendicular universe only intersects ours at this one point and time, the hero we met senses subatomic particles. Really?
#CoHMA M2: How to describe how different a perpendicular dimension is? Here's how Dr. Aeon puts it...
#CoHMA M2 ... " They could be waving "hello", but we would see it as "skyscraper (mother died 15 years ago) flibbydib""

#CoHMA M3: Total nerd joke: " I am three point one four steps ahead of everyone else (rounding off). I run circles around them!"
#CoHMA M3: Gah, it's the giant 5 floor, green fog map of DOOOM. And I have Neutrina and Aeon to find to stop this dimension collision.
#CoHMA M3: Found Neutrina surrounded by pink radiation clouds. She spokequicklyaboutdr.aeonandranoff.
#CoHMA M3: Found Neutrina again, well most of her anyway, though it sounds like I should have found Aeon by now, which I haven't.
#CoHMA M3: Found Dr. Aeon, time to get some readings!
#CoHMA M3: Found Neutrina, or what's left of her anyway. Named ........., and looks just like the perpendicular entities and she attacked me

#CoHMA M4: Finally got to the "Evil for the greater good" part of the arc - we're shunting all the energy into the perpendicular dimension.
#CoHMA M4: Which will destroy their entire world most likely, but will save half of ours.
#CoHMA M4: interesting map with a clickie chase, the return of Neutrina, and a fight to the finish with Aeon making friendly banter.
#CoHMA M4: And of course, Aeon so kindly reminds me of all the people we just destroyed.
  14. I've joined the Psychic Friend's Network... I think.

  15. I made a new outfit for my tanker. I figured I have Emily, my blaster, as part of her backstory being burned and scarred, so her face is not very pleasant to look at. So I thought I would also represent the other side of the coin, by having my tanker be more on the attractive side of things. So here's my attempt.

  16. Agreed on adding in more alternate animations in powersets a la Martial Arts/Superstrength.

Fiery Melee: alternate version of the sword attacks sans sword, or alternate version of the punch attacks with sword. Same with Ice Melee and Stone Melee.
  17. My guess is there's a homeless guy walking the streets of Praetoria named "Stefan".

    My birthday

I didn't know we could do that... hmm...

Oh, and happy birthday, I'll be sure to send you a piece of cake, or maybe just a stale candy cane.
  19. As fluid as MA arcs can be, if you did get around to it, I would suggest only indexing 4 and 5 star reviews and possibly more recent reviews, as older poor reviews on arcs that have greatly improved wouldn't serve anybody.
  20. Ok, here goes...

    Name: Emily Metzer
    Hero Name: The Burnt Matchstick
    Age: 37
    Gender: Female
    Hair Color: None
    Eye Color: Milky white/blind
    Distinguising Features:
    • Head: Extensive scarring has left her head completely rough and black, with patches of reddish scars, unable to grow hair, and completely blind.
    • Mask: Because of this, she occasionally wears a mask to hide some of her face and cover her eyes, typically using the triangular visor from the Cyborg set.
    • Costume: Taking a cue from her chosen hero name, her costume represents a burnt matchstick, with a wide stripe running down the middle of her costume representing the stick of the match, and her burnt and scarred head representing the burnt match head, and leaving the rest of the outfit black to represent negative space. Although her gloves often have a touch of color even when they're not on fire.
    • Colors: Her color choices often depend on her mood, sometimes a wooden colored stripe, sometimes red, with a natural gas style blue flame, sometimes a dark red with lots of smoke reflecting some bad moods, and most recently, in all light blue.
    • Flames: She uses modified flame devices to attack her enemies, as well as accentuating her look by what looks like setting her head on fire. While it may look painful, the flames around her head are a lower heat than most flames, and her thick and scarred skin is quite resistant to flames.

  22. What if Back Alley Brawler never got his powers? What if he was just a regular joe working at a regular job? What would he be doing?

I know it's not good enough to win my way back, but I'm not too proud to ask for suggestions on what I can do to get it that much closer. Note* This is only the first - with nearly 2 months, I'm planning on doing a full yellow page sheet with as many as I can fit on there, unless I come up with a better idea.
  23. And last night a little while after our Kahn TF, my Burnt Matchstick blaster on Virtue hit level 50. Ding!
