I recently uninstalled my CoH beta folder, and installed a different game. Now when I try to run my normal CoH I get a popup that says
"Coh will be installed to C:\Program Files\City of Heroes Select NO to choose a different folder"
and if I try to let it install I get a popup that says "error opening C:\Pogram Files\City of Heroes/CoHUpdater.exe
You may be out of disk space or may be trying to install where you have insufficient permissions" -
You have been able to change globals for a loooong time (you just could only change it *once*, and they gave people recently a chance to change it another time). My global was my first characters name for about 5 mins.
-
I'm also pretty sure that Wyndine was the first character I ever created. I just don't have any screenshots of her VERY first costume because I had to earn enough inf to buy the wing recipes off the market. I joined when the market was all shiny and new.
-
I believe I still play my very first created character - Wyndine MA/SR Scrapper on Pinnacle. I don't have a whole lot of screenshots, but I believe this is pretty close to her original costume, or maybe a first revision - she did have to go through the cherub wings before being able to buy the burned dragon wings:
and this is her more recent costume

According to theOneRing.net, it seems that Frodo will be playing the role of Kevin Arnold in The Princess Bride. AKA He's in the framework as Frodo reading Bilbo's book.

Ok, I did a quick test video, let me know what things you like and anything you don't. Biggest question: do you prefer sepia or black and white? Included both, plus a quick intro to set the mood. Made my character look like a young Firecracker Kid for a quick bit of intro for the trailer. I think I'm shooting for around 2-3 mins or so.
Golden Age Secret Test Footage (video deleted) -
Thought I'd pop in here to get some feedback from those who actually make videos. I've jumped into the CoH video making game and I'm enjoying myself so far.
Here's my first AE Trailer - made for @PW's arc Talos Vice.
And I'm working on my second one. I'd love to hear any tips, suggestions, or just some general feedback.
I'm using FRAPs to record, and Windows Movie Maker to edit. I've tried, a little, to mess with demorecording, but it has a lot of problems getting things in AE that I'm interested in getting. -
Awesome of you to do this. And made me think of a really nice scene for one of my Burnt Matchsticks. Very fun!
-
I like it! It sounds like an interesting challenge, and totally doable with the tools I have, I think. Wonder if I should make an attempt at a newsreel guy voice or not...
-
Way to bring the heat Alpha! And thanks for joining us Airhead with that... um... you know. Well, it makes me laugh every time I see it. I'm not entirely sure if that's a compliment though ;^_^

If anyone happens to be on, and interested. I'd be happy to run a villain SF. Come to the darkside!
-
Quote:I think I'm starting to get the hang of these things, more or less, and it's become much less about the amount of missions, other than the amount of time it takes to actually run the mission. Now a few questions.I'd love to see one of these for Golden Age Secret of the Paragon Society or A Hero in Need...is a Friend Indeed!, but it's a lot to ask doing a 5 mission arc especially since they are both holding at 5 stars. If you get no other people wanting you to do their arcs and feel like doing one of these, great, otherwise I will defer to someone that is more in need of advertising.

Would you prefer a playthrough/On Your M-Arc, or something more like a trailer - like the latest Talos Vice clip?
If you would prefer a trailer, do you have any suggestions for the style you would like me to try for?
If you're curious if one is easier than the other - I think I would do the same amount of filming no matter what, then it's just a matter of figuring out what to do with the clips. -
Killing someone repeatedly in a PvP zone is NOT griefing. It's practice. I feel bad for you, but temp powers are not required, PvP zones are for PvP.

Somewhat of a bonus prize for Talos Vice.
If any of the other winners are interested, I would be happy to do something similar for their arcs. Just move the discussion over to my other thread: On Your M-Arc to request one. -
Think of this as a bonus prize for your Player's Choice win... as long as it doesn't get blocked for the music. There's a warning, but no restriction at the moment. I think it doesn't get blocked unless there's a complaint, but not sure.
I enjoyed doing the first half of the intro for my review video that I had to do the full intro as sort of an arc ad. Let me know if you want a hardcopy of the file. -
I don't mind seeing discussion on this. I only know a few things right now that I want to do:
I want to use a points system in some way.
I want to require a submission every month or the participant gets disqualified, BUT there will be two months to allow people to re-enter, or to join fresh. The points will put newcomers at a disadvantage, but not an insurmountable disadvantage.
There will be voting for the best piece each month. -
“I’ve never managed to get past the security measures on the security measures”. I would rewrite this as, “I’ve never managed to get into their security system”.
What she means is - even the security measures have security measures, and I haven't even gotten past them!
I just played this today and I really enjoyed it. My only note is that it has the dreadfully popular fiery footprints map (see: what I said about Casualties of War) -
And just as a reminder, I thought I'd take a quick look back at last year's Player's Choice Award winners.
Best Lowbie arcs (TO/DO range)
The Marconeville Horror #178278 @Footloose - Still sitting at 41 plays and 4 stars. Check it out sometime!
The Invasion of the Bikini-Clad Samurai Vampiresses from Outer Space! #61013 @Aliana Blue
Best Higher range arc (SO+)
Teen Phalanx Forever! #67335 @PW - shot down from 5 stars just shy of Hall of Fame status. But still an author with a Dev Choice.
One Million Eyes #71933 @minimalist - another great arc at 4 stars, and another author who won themselves a Dev Choice. And personally, I preferred this arc over their Dev Choice arc.
Best Short arc
Celebrity Kidnapping #1388 @PW - once again, the winner of the short arc category.
Best Multi-arc
The Consequences of War #227331, and The Casualties of War #241496 @Dalghryn - Another couple arcs knocked down from 5 stars, and both still worth a look.
Best Serious arc
Tales of Croatoa: A Rose By Any Other Name #178774 @Silvers1 - One of the few arcs from the Player's Choice who also became a Dev Choice, this one through the first Architect Awards which sadly weren't held again this year.
Best Comedy arc
In Poor Taste #259920 @Wrong Number - a multiple Player's Choice award-winner that still has not been recognized by the devs.
Best use of Mechanics
The Next War on Drugs #245042 @anachrodragon - And another arc that is still pretty obscure with only 57 plays and 4 stars. Check it out, it's a great one. -
This hasn't been the best year for the Mission Architect and its authors. From monkey farms, to few Dev Choices, to few plays. Especially the few plays part - last year's Player's Choice voting brought 250 posts and over 6,000 views with a voting period of 3-4 weeks. This year's had twice as much time, and only 1/5th as much interest. I hope that next year brings renewed interest in the Mission Architect and hopefully I will be back next year with a bigger turnout for the 2011 Player's Choice Awards. But regardless, there have still been great authors publishing great arcs. And all of the nominees for this year's Player's Choice are no different. These are definitely the best arcs of the year, and if you didn't get the chance to play some of them, be sure to give them a shot when you can. It will absolutely be worth it. Without further ado, here are the winners for this year's Player's Choice Awards!

And the newest On Your M-Arc is live! Talos Vice. One thing I'd like to hear about for the comments: Should I remove the mission dialogs from the commentary version of the videos? Well, at least shorten them down to just a few seconds to get a feeling for how much text and what kind of format they're in? And of course I would leave them full length on the "playthrough"s for those that might want to actually read through the mission text on the video.
Anyway, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BjSpk71R1k -
Quote:Honestly, when you get around to making some of the changes myself and other have suggested, I wouldn't mind doing one of these for The Icari. In any case, I look forward to more of your video reviews; it's certainly a nice change of pace from the usual text reviews we have in this section of the forum!
If you need more arcs to review, I could probably suggest some of mine.
While I would like to see you do a video review of "The Icari", you've already reviewed it, and it's longer than the 3-arc limitation you've placed in this thread.
