Yeah, I decided to mess a bit with it too, I should have something up on Youtube in a few minutes.
edit: here -
I thought everyone put a great effort this month, and there are several pieces I wish I could also vote for. But these are the pieces that my wife and I decided to vote for.
1. Christopher Robin
2. Techbot Alpha
3. Airhead -
Yeah, I've done that before. Luckily I realized it in the car and was able to pop back in the store and just swap for the correct one. Alternate covers throw me off like that.

My friend let me borrow a little webspace (since I'm helping him make it - the design is someone else's, I format and update his videos), and I used my ancient html skills to put this together. I just need to figure out if I want to add the playthroughs to the page or not.

Yeah, I saw this earlier this week, pretty awesome.

Preview for On Your M-Arc #4 live: My playthrough of Cole in Your Stocking #474611 by @Venture. Review commentary to be added hopefully by next week.
I believe I remembered to exclude the UI in every shot for this vid. The scenes with no sound are the ones shot using demorecord, all the others were shot live with no UI (makes it much harder to fight) -
I was thinking about this some today. I had thought about allowing open entries every month through April. With the points system, and no vote eliminations until June, that would give those that had been supporting throughout an advantage with their points. I don't want to go around changing the rules willy nilly either.
Let me know what you think, participants and would-be participants alike. I don't want to change the rules unless most of you think it's a good idea. -
I wrote a journal entry on dA about my newfound artiness (aside from what I've done previously, adding to other people's work) and thought I'd share it here too.
Quote:Two years ago, if someone would have asked if I was an artist, I would have said "Sorry, I never touch the stuff." Well, that's not completely true. I did take art classes in elementary school and I remember that I had a pretty good knack for perspective at the time. When most people were drawing cubes and rectangles, I was drawing toroids and letters. And I was like 10. I didn't much keep up with it after that. From High School on writing became more my thing, culminating in an entire website during the Geocities hayday dedicated to the anti-Final Fantasy RPGs out at the time, mainly SaGa Frontier one of the earliest Squaresoft whipping boys of the internet.
Then at some point, I bought City of Heroes. Originally it was an alternative to the Sims as a character creator for my wife that I thought I might be interested in as well. That was over 3 years ago. Then some point later I discovered the City of Heroes forums. Then some time later I discovered the Screenshots and Fan art section of the forums. I soon became a lurker, checking out all the great artwork, occasionally posting my praises. And there was a FArt battle going on, which I would vote each month with my wife and I deciding which piece we liked the best. Then January rolled along and the new contest was started. I decided to play along by entering some of my screenshots, and some new ones, done up with a little generic photoshopped flair.
Throughout that year, I spent more time on each piece, and improved month to month using new techniques to improve what amounted to graphics design and screenshot manipulation. Near June, someone started a minimalist project - using minimal design to evoke an iconic CoH character. I took that ball and ran with it, using simple Paint.net tools to make basic picture. They were basic, but they were all mine. I also started coloring some pieces. It started with mostly flats, and using a recolor tool to retain the pencil shading, but in a different color. This ended up with North Star, a piece I spent hours on but turned out beautifully in my opinion.
I shared the North Star on my facebook page, the one place online where I am my real name and not Bubbawheat, and as such I generally don't talk about City of Heroes because no one would care, unless they started to worry. My sister used this as inspiration to buy me a "How to Draw Manga" book for Christmas. And I also bought a sketchbook. Now every day I do a little sketching. My current problem is my ideas seem much greater than my skill level. I have a scene in my head, but I just can't translate it to the page correctly. But I do know my limits, have been keeping to the motto of "practice, practice, practice" and even though I'm organizing this year's FArt battle myself, I'm also participating and using it to help improve my own talents as the year goes on. I hope to have a great piece to show for December! -
Quote:Actually I was talking about this one - and I guess they did post something, more of an art/AE/fiction showcase than the Scoop. From the posts I thought it was intended to be more than that. Maybe more is to come? There is/was a Titan Network project similar to the Scoop, but it's been pushed back with several developers leaving, setting up new Mids' developers, and then the addition of Titan Sentinel.
It's still there, but not ready yet and it's been pushed to the sideline. (Unfortunately)
-
I was going to mention this as well. Makes me wish City Scoop was back, in some form or another. I heard talk of a quarterly news thing requesting submissions, but haven't seen anything materialize yet.
-
You may have noticed my lack of participation lately. I'm sure this is true for many people as well, but I've become a bit burnt out on the MA, and my short attention span has drawn itself to other projects - Arc videos (a little bit of arc playing, and a lot of video editing), fan art stuff, and trying out DCUO to help bring a fresh look at CoH when I'm done. I'm passing on arc posting duties to Tubbius if he'll have it.
The authors whose arcs haven't been chosen yet are: Doctor Gemini, Burning Brawler, and the Hound. Apologies if I missed anyone. -
This week's arc is from Suspicious Glenn:
Arc ID: 477906
Arc Title: One Night Bridge
Factions: Council, Crey, Cult of Stars, Awakened Division
Morality: Vigilante
Length: 5 Missions
Level Range: 30-54
Description: The Peacebringer Tracer Brightstar is looking for Vigilantes to help her bring a rogue Warshade to justice. [SFMA][SLMA] -

Ok, just to put some more information about points that I have figured out so far:
You will be able to "buy" immunity with your points.
You can use your points to "save" yourself from elimination, but it will cost twice as many points as buying immunity.
I plan to have a full list of uses and prices by April. So there will be some extra strategy involved in this year's FArt battle. -
-
Oh, I completely forgot to mention this. I had been planning on giving out an additional reward to each month's winner. 10 million inf sent through in game gleemail.

1. Tartyr's vote does not count unless he changes his vote to 2 other people
2. Points for votes are same as last year, 3 vote points for first place, 2 vote points for second place, and 1 vote point for third place. These points will then be converted to FArt points based on ranking.
3. In the case of more than 10 participants, those ranked below 10th place would get 0 additional points.
I haven't fully fleshed out exactly how the points system will work, I think it is best to let a couple months worth of points go by to see how they start adding up before I set anything into stone. These are what I do know right now:
Points will come into play starting in June.
June will be the first month with an elimination.
Points will NOT be directly related to elimination. -
It shouldn't affect your voting because I didn't get it finished before the deadline, but for those curious here is my finished entry.
