  1. Last minute bid for myself and those early bird points. Still need to add her hand, which I hope others will agree is not a major change.

edit: and the window for the early bird points is closed. You still have 8 more days until the final deadline for this month.
  2. I believe the biggest hurdle would be account names. Let's say someone has the account name "Superhero" on the NA servers. There could be someone else with the account name "Superhero" on the EU servers. If they merged NA and EU accounts, who would get to keep the name. If they change both names like they did with the forums, how would they let the account holders know?

(Note: I could be wrong on this, I know two accounts can have the same global name on the NA and EU servers, but I'm not 100% sure if it holds true for game account names, but trying to log in without realizing that your account name has changed would be a large annoyance for many people)

Looks like a good start. And this way, at least if you don't get around to finishing it, you still get a couple extra points.

And BTW, only two more hours to snag those early bird points.

All those pages and suggestions made by players were worth it?
I would like to see a red name comment, because David was so quiet for a long while, and Im afraid he could leave Paragon Studios as well.
    David dont leave us!
We need you to take the graphic aspect of CoX to the true next level
The production timeline is generally over a year long (working 2-3 issues ahead). How long ago did he make those threads? Some are already coming to light. Some may never see the light of day, some are probably in the works and are 1-2 issues down the line.
  5. I don't think they count the 60+ pieces across the three skeletons, but they probably do count each iteration as its own piece.

    aka

cheetah head, cheetah head with teeth, cheetah head with mane, cheetah head with mane and teeth - 4, 6 if there's 2 teeth options or mane options, 9 if there's 2 teeth and 2 mane options, etc. Same goes for Minotaur w/ nose ring, animated and non-animated tail options. Add all those options together and you probably come up with over 60.
  6. Here's a question: where do you find out the information about the WST in-game? I haven't really looked for it yet, but I don't remember seeing where you hear about it.
  7. I thought Nathan did a great job in the Wonder Woman movie, I think he'll make a pretty good Hal Jordan.
  8. Step 3: Add colors and shading. Still pretty new to the process, but I think I didn't mess it up too badly. Link to dA page.

  9. On Your M-Arc #4: Cole In Your Stocking #474611 by @Venture is now live! Check it out, leave a comment, if you "like" it, be sure to come back here and request one of your own.

Nah, that would only be if I sprung it on everyone. I totally expected someone to not be ok with it.
  11. I've really just started, but I've already been using the draw-over quite a bit to get clean lines of my sketches.
  12. Alright, well I'll go ahead and submit A Clone of Your Own? #453091 Enjoy!
  13. Step 2: Ink her face with Paint.net, also used the opportunity to try and fix her hair to be more Chun Li and less Leia. Click for dA page.

  15. Also, I just had something pop into my head for a possible future month's theme and I wanted to get feedback from the artists: "Collaboration". As a viewer, this seems like it would be an interesting to see what artists can create when they work together. As an artist, it would be an interesting challenge to work with someone else. But I could totally see how some artists would prefer not to work with someone else, especially if they feel their partner is a weak artist. And partners would be chosen based on voting order. Just wanted to throw this idea out there to see how it's received, if anyone at all is against it, it won't be a theme. I already have March's theme in mind and it will be announced when this month goes to voting.
  16. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I once again lowered the Early Bird bonus points to 2 points. My intention is not to create a rush to get those extra 2 points by the 10th, but to reward those who post earlier to keep seeing art throughout the month instead of a big rush at the last minute. That's also why I changed it to reward all early posters instead of just the first one. Also, I will be announcing the next month's theme during the voting period which gives an extra week or more for the artist to prepare. That gives at least 17 days to get the Early Bird bonus.

And just in case anyone else has misread - everyone that posts a complete entry by the 10th gets 2 extra points. And you can make adjustments to it as long as they're not major. An example would be Airhead's piece in January. It was complete when he posted it, but he added highlights and comic book text to finish it off, not a major change, but he still had time to improve the piece.

Also, I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and apologize for all of these rules tweakings. After this month, rules should be consistent and I will work out the points spending system as best as I can before posting them for all to see.
  17. I was hoping to see a theme this month, I'll figure out which one to enter later.
  18. A few more additions. First, a couple costumes I finally got around to making. They are inspired by the Costume Makeover contest that Nazgul did a while back. The one I declared winner was Henri with his bright match style, and this is how I interpreted his design on my new Corruptor on Protector - currently level 12.

Next up was the second place, which many thought was the best design - simple but elegant - from Mariner. And this is what I did with it on my Blaster on Virtue.

  19. Another Bubbawheat original on the way. This one is for the February FArt battle. The theme is ice, so I'm going back to Cerulean Archer for a somewhat ambitious piece.

The concept: Cerulean Archer is walking away from the battle scene towards camera. She's looking down and to the side, as if remorseful of what she had to do, putting her bow behind her back. Behind her is a large group of enemies encased in ice.

Step one: her face, sketched by hand. I felt I really hit her facial expression, even though I didn't get much else right, especially her hair. I tried to re-do it several times, but I could never get the face anywhere near as good as this one, so I think I'll make do for now. Click for dA page.

    - "Then, later, there are like, 100 robots. They al magenetize themselves into a giant robot sphere. The guns all stick out and they start firing! Rat-a-tata-tata-Ratatatat! Pew pew! BLAMMO!"

-"Oh yeah, and then the 100 robots form themselves into a giant robot"

    -"You mean, like Voltron?"

-"No! Of course not, they look just like a bigger version of the same robot of course. And the giant robot made up of the smaller robots gives the audience a thumbs up. And get this, the robot that is the thumb turns around and gives the audience his own little thumbs up."

  21. Interestingly enough, I checked yesterday and "Orange Arrow" was also available on Pinnacle.
  22. Thanks for the input CR, I made a couple less drastic changes to the rules which I hope will take into account the points you were trying to make.

The Early Bird points are reduced to 3 points, and the winner of each month gains an additional 2 points, so it will go 12, 9, 8, 7, etc. This makes sure that the winner of each month gets the most points whether or not they were in early. The worst case scenario is that first was late, and second was early, then they both get a total of 22 points for the month.

And just as a sidenote to these extra rules and stuff this year. When I decided to take on this year's FArt battle, I wanted to do three things with it. I want to make it fair, fun, and interesting. I wanted to use the points system to help make it more interesting instead of just the usual eliminate the lowest vote each month. And by making these changes, I hope to keep things fair for everyone involved. And don't forget, this is for fun!
  23. I blame your last minute vote messing everything up. I suppose it was also my fault for trying to get things done early. Henri and Battlewraith both get 8 points for being third and everything else remains the same.
  24. After being taken through the flames of January, it's time to cool off for February and so for this month:

    February's Theme is Ice

    Rules

All types of visual art are acceptable for this month's theme. Screenshot manipulations, sketches, graphic design, etc. So long as they incorporate this month's theme into the work.

    1. Use City of Heroes/Villains Characters- This is, afterall, a CoX Fan Art competition, so I expect you guys to keep that in mind. If there's nothing relating to City of Heroes/Villains in your entry, you will be disqualified.

    2. Keep It PG-13- All entries this month must be postable to these boards without a 2 click.

    3. Deadlines- All entries MUST be submitted by Friday, February 18th by Midnight Eastern US time. Anyone participating who DOES NOT have an active account on these boards may note me via dA at Bubbawheat. I will take Saturday, February 19th to screen all entries for adherence to the theme and rules. Voting will begin on Sunday, February 20th, held here on the CoH boards. The pieces that I put up for a vote have been personally verified by me, so if you disagree with their qualifications, please take it up with me rather than the artists.

    4. We will be having open submissions through March. Anyone can join in this month as well as next month.

    5. There will be no eliminations until June. Each month artists will accumulate points that will be used to help avoid elimination, or grant other benefits. There will be one chance for one artist to win their way in (or back) to the contest in August.

    6. Points- Entry points: Artists gain 10 points each month where they submit a piece. Any artist not submitting a piece will be disqualified.
Early bird points: Artists gain an additional 2 points each month where they submit a "finished" piece before the 10th of the month. Finished pieces can still be improved, but any major additions after the 10th will negate the early bird points. Major additions include adding color, or adding an elaborate background.
Place points: After voting, each artist will gain points based on how they place in the final standings. 1st place gains 10 points (plus 2 bonus points for winning), 2nd gains 9, 3rd gains 8, etc. Ties each gain the amount of points for that place. Places after 10th gain 0 points.
The full uses of these points will be finalized by March's announcement thread.

    7. Prizes- The artist with the most votes each month will receive 10 million inf sent to them through in game E-mail. The overall winner of the year will receive 50 million. Thanks to Draggynn for his donation to the prize fund.
