The other way to figure it out is to assume that because Burnt Matchstick was in the picture, one could assume that "Burnt Matchstick" was in the text, and then you can fill in the rest of the message based on re-used letters in "Burnt Matchstick".

Sorry, I actually won't be able to make this one. I'm going to see Kevin Smith's new movie and a Q&A with him afterwards. First Friday night out in... a long time.

Quote:Nice work, I always knew you were intrepid.
It says "Help me Burnt Matchstick, you're my only hope"
Nice nice idea to use Princess Leia's secret message (pleading for Obi Wan to come and rescue her) from Star Wars by the way.
DD: All he really had to do was figure out what font I used, then do a straight decode from there as I did just use a special symbol font and typed it out normally. I plan on having her hold something similar to a Rosetta Stone so it can be figured out by only using the clues in the picture. -
Working on my contribution to this month's F-Art contest. The theme is Secret Messages, but since I'm not actually competing I figured it was ok to reveal mine early (though there's not enough information to decode it, unless you're really intrepid). Still a long ways to go, but I did make a nice step forward.

Is it just me, or does this pilot sound like it was taken directly off of "They Fight Crime!"? -
New intro! New credits! New On Your M-Arc!
Fear and Loathing in Striga
Check it out, and stay 'till the end for a little surprise. -
Made a logo for my videos (On Your M-Arc) I've been doing for AE. Started with the regular AE logo and tried my best to recreate the font for my name at the bottom, and just used a similar font for the title in the middle.

As I've actually got a couple requests via PM, here's my current queue:
Fear and Loathing in Striga:
On Your M-Arc (finished except for final sound mix)
Trailer
Against the Wickerwork Khan
Trailer
(possibly an On Your M-Arc if I need focus for the trailer)
The Rogue Vahzilok
On Your M-Arc
The Rise and Demise or Otherwise of Tekna Logik...
On Your M-Arc
I may do a text review before filming if I start moving slowly. Looks like this is starting to take off. I'm not closing off requests, but be aware it may be over a month before I get to your arc. -
Which one(s)? The only ones I've removed were some work in progress/test videos I was doing for Golden Age Secret of the Paragon Society. I double checked all my links up top and they're all still showing for me.
edit: Oh, I think you were talking about SupaFreak's - he updated that video with a few changes. Check his link in the multimedia section of the forums, or his YouTube channel for the updated one. -
Yes but if you're offline when the message is sent, it's stored on the servers (aka your mailbox) until you next log in, and that can become full. I don't know exactly, and it may be based on total size, and not just number of messages. I know I've logged into about 4-5 long /tells and/or feedback messages before.

I know I recently won a piece of art from you, I loved it, and I'm totally shamelessly entering once again. With my MA/SR scrapper: Wyndine.
Though to make up for it, I will share some... not so great king cakes c/o Cake Wrecks.
Enjoy! -
...to someone who hasn't been following it closely?
I get the gist of it, but I was thinking about it and from the outside it seems very convoluted, and I'm curious if someone could explain it in a way that makes sense, and covers all the bases. That means, shards, threads, favors, incarnate xp, level shift, which ones are psychic and which are... physical? material? whichever the other ones were. Where can you use all your extra powers and all your level shifts.
And I'm not talking about making a guide, I'm talking about how you could ever explain this all conversationally. Feel free to try, I'd be glad to be proven wrong. -
Interesting. You seem to be getting only slightly more plays than me even though your arc is listed third, while mine's on the second page. Would be nice to see stats like these from someone else with a longer arc listed at the top. Early estimations bring us about 30 plays a week each. Give or take.

I will do my best to be on either Saturday or Sunday.

I'd like to contribute something to this. I do use Paint.net instead of some of the other more expensive programs out there, so some of the names might be different, though I imagine you can find the same effects under similar names. Even though no one commented on it, I thought my portal turned out pretty well and I thought I'd share how I did it.

Technically there is one way to transfer NA <-> EU but it involves the market and a little bit of risk.

Fear and Loathing in Striga playthrough is live. Review will be coming soon as I hope it will help give me a clearer direction on how to make this into a trailer.
Edit: just watched the upload myself and for some reason the last 40 seconds or so got lost somewhere. I will likely re-upload at a later point. -
Quote:In all the previous years, the winner of each month was granted immunity for the next month. I wanted to do something a little more different. As long as you participate each month, even if you placed last every time, you would start the month of June with around 65 points which is almost enough for the highest valued option. I'm also offering bonus points each month that can be earned by anyone.I...really take issue with this, I have to say. So, people who have more points, in a 'competition' with no official judges, can get ever more of a lead on those doing not so well?
Sorry, but that just sits really ill with me. I don't recall the Art Battle last year having this, so why suddenly make the exception now?
As it is, I'm struggling with RL and Uni work, meaning my submissions might not be up to the standard I'd ideally like. If I'm then getting penalised more by lack of points to make use of 'the shinies', then I might as well just back out all together.
By doing this, everyone has the option of using their points on the small perks, or saving them for the big perks. If you are doing well, yes you could have the option of using both, which is why I tried to have the smaller point valued items be relatively small bonuses. Like "A little more time" would allow you a couple more days, but you would potentially lose votes if the voting thread goes up before the piece is done. "Overruled" would allow you to submit something off-theme, but having an off-theme piece would also probably effect your votes negatively for those people who vote on which piece best fits the theme.
If you think any of the point values should be more or less than what they are, I'd be glad to hear it. To give out a few numbers for someone who participated every month: The minimum number of points is 60. The average number of points is about 80. The maximum number of points (excluding bonus points) is 100.
There's a couple reasons why I wanted to keep this competition going for this year. To give the forums more art, and to allow artists to challenge themselves. They're challenged each month with a theme and a deadline. I added the points to try and make it more fun. Instead of just awarding immunity to the winner each month, every participant has the option to increase their chances in whichever ways they decide. Those in the lead have more options, but that doesn't change how people vote, and when it comes time for the voting, everyone's in the same boat. If you don't like the points system, feel free to ignore them, ensuring you'll have enough points to use the "saved" option if you ever need it - which reminds me one of the other reasons why I put that in, I understand that some months are busier than others, and this allows you a freebie later in the year if you are so busy that you have to miss a month. -
mini update - currently working on the next Player's Choice winner - FredrikSvanberg's Fear and Loathing in Striga. Playthrough should be coming soon, then I decide if I want to do a review and a trailer, or just a trailer. Next up will be Clave Dark 5's Wickerwork Khan - which will be the first video I do with a full custom group, hopefully I do it justice.

Quote:I was checking this the other day, and there's arcs by Dev Choice Authors that have been up for a long time that haven't even hit 30 plays. They really need to have a better in-game advertising of the "click the author's name for more arcs by that author" than just a loading screen tip.I work pretty hard on my arcs, and my last arc, written over a year ago, is only at 99 plays despite showing up in the first 5 pages. If a 5 star arc written by a dev's choice author (which is about as visible as you can get in AE) can't get more than 100 plays in a year, then it's pretty indicative of how many people are still interested in AE for more than just farms.

#1. I think I'm using this new "Sword-Flex" wrong, but no pain, no gain.
These Yoga exercises are pretty tough, but at least the view is nice.
No, I wasn't staring at your breasts. Wait, my arm is moving on it's own. Stop, NOOOoooo....

No, I do not lay golden eggs, NOW GET OUT OF MY NEST!
I've heard of ugly ducklings, but you really take the cake.

Do you ever get the feeling, you were being watched? -
Wow, if I'd have known it would have gotten this good of a reception, I would have taken down one of my arcs to publish it. Glad to see it's working out for you, Backfire, and all you crafter's out there. Of course, I don't think I would have realized the obviousness that is advertising it in the Inventions and Market forum, I rarely step out of my own little corners of the forums.
