Little bit of an update, iTrials and lack of inspiration has been stifling me on this one. I want to make a "good" grindhouse style trailer, but not sure where to start. Here's most of the cut footage I have at the moment (video deleted). As well as some initial titles, still need music, and probably an over the top narration. Would like to find some good grindhouse style trailers, haven't found a whole lot on YouTube, not entirely sure what to search for.

Also, I'm looking to expand my videos to include AE Q&As, but I need some questions. They can be anything, from "what's your favorite arc" to "how do I do ____" to more silly/random questions. Please post questions here to help keep that thread alive to hopefully get some questions from non-AE people.

You're complaining about insane prices... in BETA? And instead (or possibly in addition) of leaving feedback where it will be seen and possibly affect change, you come and make a thread about buying your way to incarnate goodies in order to bypass the entire reason why they were created in the first place? I think no.

Sounds like revamped initial contact arcs for Atlas/Galaxy/Mercy. Sounds good to me!

I've fairly recently started making CoH videos featuring AE arcs, both for reviews and some trailers (More info here), and I while I have a few more trailers lined up, I wanted to do something a little different. I'd like to make some type of Q&A video.

Of course to have a Q&A video, I need some questions. So post your questions here!

And Q & A #1 is done!

Some things to note:

1) I am *not* a dev, nor do I work for Paragon Studios in any capacity, I do not have any more information available than any other player.

2) I have made a few AE arcs, gotten one good enough to get Dev Choice'd, and have played and/or reviewed well over 100 arcs.

3) If you ask a question, please note how you would like to be referred to as.

So please, ask your questions! Feel free to ask me anything related to the AE - recommendations for arcs, for searching, how to do something in the AE. I will do my best to answer as many of the questions as I can. And if you're wondering why I'm not posting this in the AE forums, because most people that visit that forum already know enough about the AE. I'd like to get less-informed questions from those who don't regularly use the AE and might like to know more about it. Thank you for your time.

I'm glad you were able to contribute as many times as you could. You mentioned early on that you would probably have to drop out around this time. Good luck and keep an eye out over here. I'll gladly post anything you can contribute even if you're no longer in the running.

Also, any who have been absent recently due to school, maybe you'll have more time now? No one's officially out of the running yet until the end of this month. So bring it on!

Well, my wife decided to sit this one out - too many inside jokes she doesn't get since she doesn't really play the game much. So I suppose I'll have to vote.

1) Artist 4 - There's so much stuff packed into this screenshot if you look for it, loads of little details to pick up on - from the "devs" chatting in team, to the joke about trials in the nav bar, to the how the heck did they manage to get that many decoys and I had no idea the name length was allowed to be that long.

2) Artist 7 - I'm all for seeing some 3D models in here, it looks great, the animation looks great too. I suppose it hasn't gotten much votes just because it only barely ties into the theme. More from the artist side than the content side.

3) Artist 5 - The one my wife liked the most

won't comment on the builds specifically, but my fire/fire/soul Brute was one of my first Burnt Matchstick 50 (see sig), and my fire/fire/pyre tanker is my most recent 50. Of the two, I've really been enjoying the tanker a lot more, and has become my incarnate go-to character now with all 5 T4s slotted. And going back to my brute feels woefully inadequate - but I'm hoping to get him up to snuff too. They're both great for different reasons. The tanker with the extra PBAoE feels a bit better at taking out larger groups and is a bit more survivable.

The scene: Fenian and Anne are sunning themselves on the hill by the tram as the skies start to darken and a Rikti invasion announcement rings through the air, they both look annoyed as their relaxation is being interrupted. (Fenian could be replaced by anyone you feel is more appropriate to be sunning, maybe Blue Boltage?)

I believe I saw a thread recently where Arbiter Fabulous got himself an arachnos logo tattoo.

The thing that has made this even worse recently is the fact that there's a bug in the AE, a super-restrictive name filter has been applied to the AE making tons of arcs unplayable, or replacing custom mobs with mekmen or hydra because they have a name like "Policeman" "Sentinel" "Blitzkrieg" "Freakshow". So now it's like a big bookstore with many great stories, but some of the books have been banned - but they're still sitting on the shelf, you just can't read them. And some have had pages ripped out of them for using a name like "Victoria".

(and yes, all the names quoted are currently unusable in the AE - see here)

I knew him pretty much just from Babylon 5, he was one of my favorite characters. Maybe I'll watch Grease for the first time now.

June's Theme is Tarot

The tarot is a mysterious subject and open to many different variants, including the [Mystic Fortune] power used within the game. This month's theme is Tarot, like the cards, other than that it is a basic theme without any extra gimmicks, that's saved for next month .

Rules


All types of visual art are acceptable for this month's theme. Screenshot manipulations, sketches, graphic design, etc. So long as they incorporate this month's theme into the work.

1. Use City of Heroes/Villains Characters- This is, afterall, a CoX Fan Art competition, so I expect you guys to keep that in mind. If there's nothing relating to City of Heroes/Villains in your entry, you will be disqualified.

2. Keep It PG-13- All entries this month must be postable to these boards without a 2 click.

3. Deadlines- All entries MUST be submitted to this thread by Monday June 27th by Midnight Eastern US time. Voting will begin by Tuesday June 28th, held here on the CoH boards. The pieces that I put up for a vote have been personally verified by me, so if you disagree with their qualifications, please take it up with me rather than the artists.

4. There will be eliminations this month instead of points, you may use the points you have accumulated through this point as you see fit, either privately or announced in this thread. At least 2 people will be eliminated this month, and at least 1 person will be eliminated through voting. If you don't submit this month, and don't use your points to save yourself you will be eliminated. The top 3 artists based on votes are safe from elimination no matter how many people use their points to save themselves from elimination.

4. Early Bird Points-If you post your final submission early, you will get 1 vote point which is equal to 1 third place vote. Since I am announcing this a little late I am extending the normal Early Bird time to the 19th. So if you post your final submission before midnight Eastern June 19th, you will get 1 free third place vote in this round. Hope to see some submissions soon.

5. Prizes- The artist with the most votes each month will receive 10 million inf sent to them through in game E-mail. The overall winner of the year will receive 50 million. Thanks to Draggynn for his donation to the prize fund.

6. Uses for points:
You may announce your use of points in this thread, or privately through PM to me. Privately used points will be revealed in the voting results with the adjusted points totals. You may use points until we are down to the final 3 artists.
5 points: Head Start - find out the next month's theme in advance.
15 points: A Little More Time - Allows an entry to be submitted and/or modified up to 2 days after the deadline. No adjustments will be made for any votes already cast if applicable.
30 points: Overruled! - If your piece is judged as not being within theme, you can overrule the judgement and have your piece placed in the voting thread anyway (This cannot overrule rules #1 or #2)
40 points: Immunity - Grants you immunity from elimination for that month - must be declared before voting begins, and can be declared in private. The top 3 based on votes cannot be eliminated due to a large number of immunity buys.
65 points: Saved - Also grants you immunity from elimination for that month but can be declared after voting is over. You can also declare it before voting begins to avoid elimination due to non-entry.

Thanks to everyone for a great turnout, some great new styles I'm not used to seeing from people. Nice use of the anonymous theme from everyone. And the next month's theme is: Tarot.


The Voting

Anyone can vote.
Everyone must vote for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice.
1st choice will count as 3 votes, 2nd choice will count as 2 votes, and 3rd choice will count as 1 vote.
Voting will be open until Thursday night June 2nd at midnight Eastern time.
You may also make guesses as to who the artists are, for just your votes or for everyone.

The Points

Everyone gets 10 points for entering.
After the voting is completed, the entrant who got the most votes will get 10 additional points plus 2 bonus points for winning the month, Second place will get 9 points, Third will get 8 points, etc.
Artists 1-3 get 2 bonus points for their "Early Bird" entries.
If no one guesses an artist correctly, that artist will gain 2 bonus points. (only guesses from votes will be counted for this purpose. In the case that an artist gets no votes, non-vote guesses will also be looked at. There is one artist ineligible for these bonus points)
These points will come into play starting in June.
The winner of this month will also get 10 million inf sent to them in-game through Gleemail.
If anyone guesses every artist (with one possible exception), they will recieve 10 million inf sent to them in-game through Gleemail. If more than one person guesses every artist correctly, the prize will go to the earliest poster.

I'm looking to revamp my Whack a Mole arc #2711 (currently playable as "Where's Moldo Edition") into a whack a mole style spoof of the incarnate trials, but I'd like to have some great mole designs. I'm sure that the people here can come up with some great stuff so I thought I'd go to you. And, I always enjoy making contests, so I'm willing to offer up 200 million inf in prizes!

To Enter: Design me a mole costume and post it in this thread, but not just any mole costume, I'm looking for something a bit more specific. I'd like the design to have something that identifies it as a mole and can be copied across every costume in the arc.

The Categories: I need several costumes, so you can choose any or all of these categories to design for me, you can enter in as many categories as you'd like, but please choose only one costume per category as your entry:

IDF moles (notably Warwalker)
Marauder mole
Seige mole
Nightstar mole
Mother Mayhem mole
Praetor Keyes mole
(if any recognizable praetorian is in the new Keyes' reactor trial, they will be included also)

The Prizes: My favorites in each category will be credited in the bio and souvenir of my Whack a Mole arc #2711 when transitioned into the incarnate edition, even if I only use parts of their design. They will also be eligible for 2 random draws at 50 million inf each. My overall favorite design will recieve 100 million inf. The deadline for this contest is: June 15th.

Here's a couple designs I whipped up pretty quickly. I'm pretty happy with the helmet and goggles look, which I used in my standard designs, but it's not set in stone.
