I agree Kenji, but your example is about aplayers conduct. Not their power selection, as is the orignal issue here. Lets say a purple'd out Min/maxer is doing what you desrcibed, he still gets the boot.
I whole heartedly agree with you.
But booting because they dont have a power that you feel they shoudl from their set...
Bah.
Why doesnt superman just cut everyone in half with his heat vision Every Single Time. That woudl shut them up quicker than trying to reason, stand there and got shot, succumb to thier ultimate weapon that drains you of your power, when instead, he could have just cut the whole room in half, very quickly, making everyone job easier.
Sure, clean up would be horrid, but its easy.
I mean, bad playstyle, yeah, I get that.
Not having the power YOU think I should have...
Seriously?
Thats just like you said:
"What one person finds fun may be frustrating for seven other people. That one person may pay their $15 a month and feel entitled to play the game any way they want to, but that does not mean they are entitled to do so at the expense of others."
... now your $15 a month is interfering with my $15 dollars a month.
No? -
Quote:Well said. I mean, depending on what your AT is, is it not actually MORE FUN to really ramp up, buzz allaround either taunting, drawing agrro, picking off as many as you can, or dropping every buff/debuff as they pop up to make sure your team doesnt wipe?I find it fascinating that the solution to "We keep needing to do your work for you" is "I'll kick you, that way we're literally doing your work for you."
I dunno about you, but THAT is pretty fun.
It is a super hero/ comic book based game, there has to be some sort of peril or else its just "my mathmatical computations surpasses that of my enemies, but have you seen the costume creator?" -
For what its worth...
On the 3 or 4 servers I've played on (from very low populations to high) I dont think I've ever seen someone kicked unless it was for unknown AFK, total immaturity, or just blatent team wiping antics...
In all seriousness folks, is this not just a moot point?
Are we not talking about the very minority of PUG's here?
I mean, if we want to mull over the little things and not whats really happening in the majority, I guess we can hear ourselves argue all month long.
So, I guess what I am trying to say is, if you just want to get on your soapbox and hear yourself complain, cool, have it your way. But if you take a step back and look at your experience, I would imagine its a far different one than whats being descibed here by a very small, select, vocal, opinionated few.
But by all means, shout at the wind all you'd like.
I think that was the OP's intent anyway. -
Quote:How can you be mad/ upset about this when your first line of your post was :It's funny I'm getting negative feedback and being called a snob by people acting very snobish. The game was designed a certain way, and there are certain powers in each set that are not suppose to be skipped. If you want to skip them, there is nothing wrong with that, but it is what it is. Don't come down on me for not wanting you on my team.
...
If you don't agree with me that's fine, but please drop all the high and mighty better than thou garbage. Don't hate on me for calling a pig a pig.
"I'll probably get negative feedback for this but I need to rant a little."
Sooo, you were expecting it, but when you got what you were expecting, it bothered you? Or it bothered you on how they were doing it, but not that they were doing it? Not so sure you have a leg to stand on there.
But good luck nonetheless.
Seems your making headway. I think you have them all convinced.
Carry on. -

Are the glowey eyes attached to a specific face, or can we put them on any face we want?
What are they under?
(Will buy Mutant Pak just for proper glowey eyes... unless I gotta used a busted up face to use them...) -
Thanks so much for doing this.
Ful was totally awesome about finding me in game in a very difficult week for me.
Loaded it up and pretty much spent most of it in an hour!
If only my money grew on trees, then I would be able to just build build build...
Ahhhh, the sweet life.
Thanks again, you are a class act! -
This was mine from before... I had a blast doing them, so I am just putting in the post from the other thread!
Quote:Premise:
After "Going Rogue" hit Paragon by storm, both the City and the Isles seemed to be in a shade of gray. Heroes turned evil and started to populate the once downtrodden Port Oakes & Mercy. Villians turned Do-Gooder suddenly saw the light and started to clean up the mean streets of beautiful Atlas Park & Galaxy City. The open portal into Praetoria seemed to allow in all sorts of riff raff to both sides. What Paragon needed now was a lighthouse of virtue, a pillar of light, a pressence to re-emerge as the becon of Hope in this darkened gray world of "heores."
This remake of image also came as a rebuilding of their brand of sorts. The Freedom Phalanx saw a need to show those who were fighting the good fight that they arent alone, that those who came before them are still around. Meaner, badder, and with less politics and public opinion. The Freedom Phalanx comes back in force, no hold barred, tearing down those who are looking for mere opprotunity over the greater good of Paragon. The time for training and sidekicks was over. It was time to reclaim their City.
"The hero business isnt about popularity anymore, its about setting the world right one crook at a time.... by any means neccessary." - Back Alley Brawler
Positron: With new developments from Rikti technology at his fingertips, Positron unviels his "Posi-tech" line of enhancements. This ultra rare line of "upgrades" transforms the scientist into an inventor who can help evlove the aging Freedom Phalanx to help fight back against a bigger, badder crime element out there. With new power mastery over his "condition", Positron takes to the skies to battle like never before, with a force unleashed that rivals near nuclear threat levels.
Back Alley Brawler:
With new Upper Extremity Posi-tech enhancements, the once "fists of power" harness a new techno-power that puts a new kind of hurt in Galaxy City. A sudden influx of Superdine has forced BaB to unleash a beat down unlike Paragon has ever seen. The "Right of Might" embodies a spirit that won't bend or break to anyone trying to flood his streets with 'Dine. He has personally led the charge to bring the fight to them. Progress over Reaction.
Manticore & Synapse:
Watching the world as they knew it start to de-evolve before their very eyes, a unique bond of sorts was made between these long time friends. With the thought that working together in a consistent, one-two punch type of style, thier efforts and rewards will be doubled. Seen by many as vigilantes now, these two have started to loosen thier ties to the original 8 as to not bring heat down on thier very public efforts. But together they have made a major dent in the crime throughout Paragon. Taking back the night one broken rib at a time.
Sister Psyche:
After a much sought after retreat to Oroborus to look within herself and come to terms better than before, Sister Pschye returns to us with a focus unlike we have ever seen. Championed by her new found mental toughness, she sets forth to correct the wrongs that are so plentiful in Paragon. She has been known to even put new "heroes" to the pavement with a look if she suspects they are here to reap the rewards of the hero lifestyle.
Citadel:
The once nuturing AI of Citadel has been upgraded. He no longer looks out upon Talos Island as a sentient robotic pressence. Instead he has chosen to evolve. To start to take on a more human look, to better understand the people, the culture, the reasoning behind thier actions. And as the curiocity unviels itself, so does an urgent need for action. His recent "Doomsday Algorithm" has predicted a full War Wall malfunction and an impending breach of peace within the next 2 years. He forces himself back into action to help prevent this from coming true.
Numina:
Spiritual guidence? Lend a hand? How about a nigh indestructable force that very few villians can even comprehend whats happening before they are drooling masses lined along the gutter of the street. And those that can actually attack a living free formed spirit are in for a very rude awakening... that is, if they can ever escape the nightmarish hell that she just mentally put them in.
Statesman:
"Politics have wasted enough time. What we need now is to fight back. I will no longer let City Hall dictate what we can and cannot do. The Freedom Phalanx is active again, and we are going to call an all out war on those who threaten our way of life. Plaster it on every billboard, every TV screen and internet blog you want. If you are in my City and trying to change OUR way of life... Prepare For Pain..."
This was the last we have ever "heard" from Statesman. No longer does he contract out high end super missions to those willing. He now has taken the war to the streets, to those who try to take advantage of Paragon City. No crook or 2 bit thief is safe anymore. There is no power in numbers. Just a growing list of incarcerated, injured, and missing in action. -
I've used your system before, and it was wonderful!
If you are still interested, I am more than willing for a different SG to benefit from your awesomeness.
Blueside, Virtue.
Character: Omegacide
Global: @Bru' Tal
Amount: 100mil
Let me know if you are interested or want to do it!
Thanks! -
This was what I went for...
First thought was more of just the banner on the right....
Saw some banners in the movie clip from the website, but still wanted/needed a more graphical approach. Thought the text would help to stir the loyalty side of the people, while still making sense to us.
Remaking the helmet wasnt so bad. Kept the gold and silver combo from his look. And I went with the laurel around the star, as its whats also on Cole's chest/armour. Thought that was a nice bold touch on the darker red and blue.
Anyway, there she be.
Enjoy! -
My first inclination after looking at old propaganda was also vertical, but I remembered that they said "billboards" in game... and well, billboards arent really vertical.
(there may be some in real life, but in game, I think all are horizontal)
So sure, you can stray from the norm, but my best guess would lead me to believe that if they didnt have to change the orientation to make it work with most likely whats already placeheld in game, it may be to your benefit. -
Thank you all for the responses.
Chalk this up to the new thing I learn today!
Never heard of that, and to someone who has never seen it, its downright hilarious to see in the middle of contest rules!
Thanks again!
Best of luck -
Just came across this in the rules and reg's...
"CANADIAN RESIDENTS NOT FROM QUEBEC! To claim your prize, you must be able to answer the following question correctly:
12 x 10 + 4 = (please provide answer)"
No joke...
Ummm, because I am obviously ignorant on this, can someone tell me what the heck this is all about? Is it legit, an inside joke I don't get, or something so out there theres no real clasification of fun-na-tude being had.
OK, carry on.

Quote:Hey no problem. I just wasnt sure.Yes. Unfortunately, just a pat on the back. I listed them just so the participants would know that the entry was highly considered. It's also an indication that the entry scored very well with at least one of the judges, maybe more than one. I've actually had other PMs about this issue so don't feel bad about asking it. It's better that I'm clear about it.
Regardless of who won or lost, I just really appreciated the "doing" of it. Being in an art related field myself, you could have had a rubric, a score sheet, all of the above, and when it just comes down to it, its still very subjective. I mean, sure, some may not have done X,Y,Z, but it still rocks my socks! THAT has to speak for something!
Its always hardest to quantify that.
Good news is, you dont have to! Its your game and your ball and we have to play the way you want! Just the way it should be! I hope you wont get any more people lighting the flames of "Ho-Hum" anymore. The point was to have fun and possibly get a reward for doing it.
That was cool enough for myself anyway.
Thank you thank you thank you again for doing this!!!
Mucho fun! -
Grats to the winners!
Was very fun and me being a costume freak was actually up nights thinking of different ways to do this. Was very fun! Thanks to those who held the contest, great idea indeed!
Sooo, please excuse my ignorance and lack of proper time to check....
Honorable mentions are just getting a pat on the back, right?
No influence to gain? -

Premise: (Story time!)
Its been 50 years since "Going Rogue" muddied the heroic waters in Paragon. We've seen 2 more major Rikti invasions, plus endured countless attacks from new and old groups alike. The Hero Business is still in play, its just not quite as functional as it used to be. Gone are the heroes of lore, their tradition and grandure died with them. Now is the time for the business smart to capitalize on the hero industry, making no name heroes into household name brand icons of the almighty dollar. The hero business has been economically whored out.
It hasnt been easy either for Marcus Cole. The Statesman of old has hung up his mantle as the Fates have caught up with him, telling him that his time has come to hand over his legacy and start anew. But not in the filed of battle, but as an aging older man, still ticked off at the world, scraping together what he feels can best do the justice that needs to be done. This his his living legacy, the reformation of the Freedom Phalanx.
Mr. Cole
All of those you love are gone. Back Alley Brawler brutally taken out by a combination riot of Trolls, Hellians, and Vaz. To add insult to injury, he was found OD'd on Superdine. A lethal injection by a Jutal sent a clear message to the heroes of Paragon.
Now all thats left are not an 8, but a 3... sort of. Indeed, Citadel has lived on, doing what he can and realsing it will take more than what he hasbrought to the table to make a difference. But his story intertwines with that of Positron. Posi, knowing that he has a terminal dose of contamination, has taken on an understudy, Jasper Kent. With this up and coming scientific wonder, Positron, Jasper, and Citadel were able to find a new housing containment for the radiation from Posi's old suit... and the only place able to handle it was In Citadel himself. This act of unselfishness was a debt paid in full, so Posi could spend his last hours out of his suit, knowing he wouldnt be endangering anyone. And thusly, Citadel takes on his new form...
Citadel:
And what of Mr. Kent? Well, the past decade before hsi death, Kent and Posi were wroking on a more efficient, but just as deadly, power suit. Special attention was given to the knowledge that one coudl become trapped inside permanently, so instead of it being so formed to the wearer, this one was more like A Mech-Bot. After Posi's passing, Jasper took on the mantle of his mentor, with the aid of Citadel, to have his name, and his dream, live on forever.
Positronix:
Our last original Freedom Phalanx member is Numina. After saving Trevor Worthington from snipe fire in Founders Falls, the two started to enjoy each others company. He, a Professor of Antiquities at the University, and a honored member of the Midnighters Squad found himself not only intrigued, but smitten by the free spirit of Numina. They traveled together and did what they could to retain some sort of "normal life." That is, until the one day that Trevor was stricken ill. So ill that his light was fading. Knowing the consequences of what was about to happen, both Numina and Trevor decided to go ahead and do the rite, the preperation for the act that could save his life. The same act of inhabbiting hsi body that Aurora Borealis did to help create Sister Psyche. And so, Trevor was saved, forever linked with his love Numina. And together, they are Numinon
Numinon:
The last 2 are personal picks from Mr. Cole himself. He needed to flesh out the ranks, but the person must be JUST right. It wasnt hard to find her really. Her whoel life she sought to know more about her family, their legacy, and who they truely were. This blazing red head bore her mothers good looks and her fathers killer instincts. She was filled with so many questions, so much hatred, rage and shame that she was taking the wrong path. When Mr. Cole offered her a chance to not only know more of her allusive family history, one kept from her for so long, it was like a second chance she never thought she'd get. And after much soul searching, the choice was hers and hers alone... She become the new Manticore.
Manticore:
Last but not least was the revival of Statesman himself. A harsh old man looking for someone to replace him and the job he had done for so long was a shot to Cole's pride that it was the lat spot he filled. This man, such immense size and strength, a spitting image of the kind of heart need to do the job, the fortitude, the instinct, the leadership abilities to rally a City. When his heart knew it was to be, the Fates once again showed up at his door. They took Hector von Magnus and Mr. Cole to the Well of Furies. He was allowed to drink from that well and look into the life that Mr. Cole once had. He is now leading the fight, with guidence from the best hero to ever lace up his boots.

How long did that take?
I'm on a new rig (Alienware), did the steps it said, added the -test, and I'm getting like a 10 hr load time...

At first glance, trying to find something "workable yet out of the ordinary" I came across this:
Sure, it would need some modification, but it allows for a different type of gunslinger, ya know?
And secondly, one a little more modern, yet readily availible to follow the "rules"...
-
Quote:Oh, as in hover/fly is a crutch for little boys who haven't learned their camera controls yet?
I think this pretty much sums it up.
Caleb, please flame elsewhere. Its seriously not needed.
I was just pointing out a fact. Hey, everyones experience is different, everyones talent is only enhanced/hindered by certain uses of certain things. Like yeah, Hover is OK, it helps me with like the 3rd floor after I already built the enitre thing and am sick of just swinging the camera angle around... of course, it has its advantages.
However, by no means does it quantify you as anything more (or less for that matter) than anyone else. If we're calling a spade a spade, I am seriously underimpressed by your ego and the base tour slide show you have to "back it up"...
It isnt marvelous, but it works for you.
Good, thats exactly how it should be. Whatever works for me and makes me feel good. But dont impose on us your sense of grandeur... b/c what is working for you and stroking your ego is kind of stale and bland in my book.
I would love to see your base in person.
And by all means, come see mine.
I have open invites to anyone who wishes to see it actually.
I LOVE my base and all the hard work thats been put into it, and it works for me, makes me feel good to be there.
Isnt that really the point anyway? -
I was gonna say, hover is OK for certain things, but far from a MUST. Just whip thye camera around and its easy as pie. I occasionally (read: very rarely) break out a hover toon if the angle cant be found, which seriously is VERY rare.
And as for safes over accent lamps...
I used safes exclusively for some time, now am a firm believer in accent lamps. Heck, each lamp has 7 divider lines on it to measure. Thats something that a safe just loses out too..
Too many times I was like ... "Hmmmm, how high did I place that thing?" only to have to try and retry it with a safe because I was using somewhere in the middle of it.
And no offense Caleb, base building isnt such a hard thing, and there arent really that many "Elite few" that know how. I've seen so many bases now-a-day learn wicked fast how to build levels and what not. It seriously isnt that big of an accomplishment. Unfortuantely, after that, its how you make it look lived in that provides the real challenge.
And THAT is a challenge that many are not so good at. Building lego's can be done by a 3rd grader. Making it look like a kick **** base is a challenge indeed. -
Quote:To piggy back on this... you can also just lay a bunch of floor tiles on each other to corss whatever space you want it cover. Just be careful enough to either leave a part of it showing so you can delete it, or know how to go to the Room Details and delete things.
3. Once you have your floor tile at the desired height, you can actually move it around horizontally a bit. This is a little tricky and may take some practice. Think of moving it into an overlapping position. As long as you don't hit a wall or floor with the mouse, you should be fine.
And to the OP. I would be more than ahppy to work on yoru base. I seriously enjoy it and feel that I have accomplished quite a bit. Hit me up at @Bru'Tal in game or send a mesage here. My main base in on Protector, blue side, if you want a look.
But to each their own.
Best of luck regardless, its a skill thats worth learnign if you really want a place ot call "home" thats all your own. -
See, I had this same question awhile back, and people said tp me that this is a Praetorian realm... meaning your "side switch" only exists in THAT realm. You come back to "Ours" you're still a hero (or villian, whatever you were before you went THERE)
So, everything you leave behind is still there, including, perhaps, you "old life"
Just like Statesman is Tyrant there, we too can be wahtever we choose to be. And when we come back to the "here and now reality realm" we are what we've always been.
Did I use enough " "s? -
So, so excellent folks!
I am so impressed at what everyon has put up so far, be it new or reposts, its worth it to see it again, or for the very first time.
So, I'm done with mine.
Graver, you are 100% correct with the moon, always was planning to address that issue, and now I have!
So, without further adue, I submitt my first finshed piece(s) to this forum. This is also a first for me as it was all done with a tablet, and it has alot of me getting used to it in the process.
I did 2 takes on it, one darker than the other, just a simple effect to tone it down a bit. but by looking at it for so long without, I decided I needed to post both, and let yo uall decide what looks best. Here we go!
