We've only had Part 1 for two weeks, it'd be a bit of a surprise if they released Part 2 this soon.
Since it's in Talos, I'm sure we can expect still more exemplaring gripes. -

Wait for Arbiter to appear.
Grab Aaron by ankles.
Activate Whirlwind.

Personally I prefer the new method of claims. I'm willing to put up with 4 unnecessary sprints in order to just be able to 'Claim All' on a new character. In either case, I don't see it as a problem that's in your face that often.

Quote:Don't feel too bad, I'm even farther out there. 3 accounts, 80 slots. And actually, I added a $1.99 account, so I guess it's now 4/92, although there are some empties in there.Crap, i must be quite the outlier. i have 2 servers with approx 35+ and at least two with 15 or more characters. Most of the remaining servers have at least 10 characters. On the other hand less than half of those characters are over level 40 and still have costume slots to unlock in game, so there is that.
(Pretty soon someone will come along that blows us both out of the water). -
Quote:Feedback does help improve the game. It's questionable whether "Costume slots are way too expensive" constitutes useful feedback, especially when anecdotal (forum) evidence exists that people are buying them at the current prices. If I wasn't used to it I wouldn't be around. I always have something to complain about. And I don't always get my way. But feedback is what helps improve the game. <
>
Also I seriously doubt 48 characters is anywhere near the average. Even for the types of people who would be buying costume slots. I'm one of those people (I have a character with more than 40 costumes), and I only have 20 characters. I imagine the average number of characters per account is a lot closer to a single digit.
As for the number of characters/account, you're probably both right and wrong. In absolute terms the number of characters/account is probably quite low. However, if you look at the population of people that are willing to subscribe and pay over and above the subscription, then the character density is probably quite high.
(Oh, and how come your OCD hasn't made you max out your character slots?) -
Quote:If that's the case, then you're an extreme outlier and you should get used to things not being the way you'd like...I do have to buy all five at once. Because I'm OCD. Even if I wasn't, $7.50 per slot is overpriced. If it's overpriced for all, it's overpriced for one. I'm not looking at "What can I get for $x?" I'm looking at "What's the value of these items?" The value is too low. I'm not looking to see how many slots I can get for $x. I'm looking to see how much they're asking per slot. Which is still too much.
In other words, I would happily spend $12.50 and get all five slots. I might consider buying all five slots for $25.00. Otherwise I'll be buying zero slots.
And just because I'm in a silly mood. 48 slots per server. 16 servers. $7.50 works out to less than a penny per character-slot.
BARGAIN!
Even if it's only one server, 48 characters brings the price down to 16 cents per slot. That's really really cheap. If you buy all the slots, it's still only 77 cents per character. Less than a buck a character for 5 more costume slots. -
Quote:... and then they all jump you and send you to the hospital. Here's a fun idea: every time you walk into your house, you can see Echos of your toons from that server just chilling around the house lol
Capital idea, because then you don't even need any functionality in your house, as you're never there long enough to interact with anything! -
Quote:Indeed, this is almost exactly what that other game over there did with their Hideout feature. As a compromise to a fully customizable house creation system I think the Devs could provide a number of "pre-fab" spaces that could be styled very nicely and come with a limited set of hardwired features (like a personal vault for salvage, recipes, etc). This way the devlopment could be made simpler and these self-contained "house units" could be sold individually in the Paragon Market. Eventually they could offer several dozen types of houses of various styles to satisfy most people. Every character could own multiple houses but only have one "active house" at a time the same way we have to choose which active Incarnate powers we have.
So if you want a fully customizable space you use the existing SG base system. If you just want a "personal house" to store your stuff then you can buy one via the Paragon market. -

Quote:Aside from the transfer token pack, haven't all the sales been 20-25%?Thanks for alerting us to the new stuff!
I look forward to a 50% off sale for Street Justice in the (far?) future.
Any 50% sale, especially for a hot item like a powerset, is likely a looong way off. -
Quote:Wouldn't paying attention to voices on the forums be pretty idiotic? I mean, where are you going to find people saying that the prices are too low and need to be raised? Even people who hold that opinion aren't going to voice it.There are two player sides to the debate over the Paragon Market prices.
1) Those who think the prices, for the most part, are set too high for the perceived value of the object(s) in question. I myself fall into this camp.*
2) Those with disposable income such that buying anything at the PM that might strike their fancy (or their WANT IT NAO!!! button) is a mere trifle. These folks are likely also accustomed to these types of transactions from other games and accept them as they are.
Voices on the forum, or folks lined up at the store? Which do you think Marketing is paying attention to?
Gloomily, I foresee no real change in the pricing structure already in place.
*And, in the interest of full disclosure, this morning I paid for Paragon Points in order to purchase the Street Justice powerset NAO. I am part of the problem. *sigh*
Listening to other people tell you how to price your product is a waste of time with a digital goods store like this where you can adjust the prices trivially on the fly. I'm sure every bit of data from the store is getting analyzed six ways from Sunday right now, and we'll see adjustments as time goes on.
However, one thing everyone should be prepared for is that prices will tend to be on the high side, punctuated by occasional sales. This is the model that seems to be working best in the hybrid space right now - you get full price from the folks who either have to have it now, or who regard the cost as trivial, and then when you do the sale, you get a mass influx from those who impulse buy, as well as the scattered few who actually possess patience. -
Zwill is working on an official statement, but the short version is that the points awarded in the F2P headstart (~9/14) included in advance the monthly allowances that would have been paid out through 10/11. After that date, the monthly allotments should start getting awarded normally.
-
Quote:There's nothing keeping you (or anyone) from buying one extra costume slot, and $7.50 is well within 'impulse buy' range for a lot of players. Pretending that you have to buy all five at once is just silly.Costume slots are still not worth it even at 25% off. If you guys still think I'm going to spend that much money on extra costume slots, you're totally loony. I'm not going to pay $37.50 for more costumes. I might buy them if they were 75% off. Otherwise I'm spending exactly $0 on this.
Sometime after sales at full price slow down. Telling people in advance would be counterproductive, as a large number will just wait until the sale.
Or in other words, it'll go on sale sometime after you give up and pay full price. -

Try to create it from the game login screen (the blindingly white one). Check "Link to Existing NCSoft Account," then click "Create New Account."

Actually, you'd be surprised. Something like a quarter of US households don't have a credit or debit card, and that number is even higher overseas.

On the other hand, another model has had success selling one-time 'guest passes' to content. It'll be interesting to see if CoH follows suit.
Quote:What I've said I wan't to see, is for VIP players to get Guest Passes every so often, with the ability to buy more on the market. Let's say a VIP player Gets 3 guest passes a month. They can invite three Free/Premium friends to run through a SSA branch, or one of the First ward story arcs. Something the Free/Premium player wouldn't normally get to see, and even then just a part of it. With the hope of enticing them to subscribe so they can run the content without restriction.
It would likely be a good deal of work to implement correctly, but I do think it would help with the stated goal of giving the Free/premium a taste of a game in the hopes that they subscribe. -
You should file a ticket with billing support rather than posting to the forums. You should also edit out your friend's account name as there's no good reason to post that.
Finally, the reason for NCSoft's rather draconian policies is because they're a major target for credit card fraud, which costs them significant amounts of money. Considering their track record of success in online gaming, they probably have a better idea of how to succeed in this space than you do. -
One possibility is that they stole its hardware to beef up the live servers and now have to reconstitute it. (Or, alternatively, are waiting for the post I21 rush to die down so they can move the hardware back.)

A quick note - the playstyle screen is actually completely optional, you can skip it and go right to AT selection.
