Quote:Since you're on Liberty, you should catch up with FCM and I some night, Shaman. We are doing some incarnate trials with our favorites, but haven't completely given up on the non-incarnate portion of the game. Are you primarily playing 50's though?
I'm currently leveling a new character. At one point today I was one of 3 people online in the 11-20 range. At least, that's how many showed up when I did a search. I have no idea if I could even have grouped with them because of that completely non-intuitive color coding the search window has now.
I dunno, maybe I'm just expecting too much. I would just like to occasionally get a team going doing papers, tips, story arcs, that kind of thing. I'm not always in the mood for TF's (well to be fair I'm rarely in the mood for them) but it seems these days when people say "teaming" what they really mean is "TF's".
As for global channels, I'm in LB and LFA. Maybe it's just been the time of day I'm on, but all I ever see folks talking about is the trials in those two channels.
Ah well, I'll keep plugging along. I do still enjoy the game, despite all my griping. I must admit to a certain degree of culture shock when it comes to the new content. The Devs just seem to be re-inventing the game and its direction and to be honest that bothers me a lot. I liked the old game, and don't really want to see it go.
We usually just duo our low-to-mid level toons, but having other people around is never a bad thing. I don't mind sidekicked lowbies at all.
(And while my 50s are almost all hidden from searches, my lower level ones tend not to be. At the moment, I have "in progress" a Bane, an electric Tank and a dark Corr on the red side... and a mace Tank, a ninja MM, an illusion Controller, a mind/psi Dom, a shield Scrap and a fire Blaster on the blue. They're anywhere from lvl 18 to 41.) -
There's one more conditional you forgot to add...
- Does the pet have any melee attacks?
If yes, close to melee range.
If no, close to melee range anyway.
(Hey, if that ranged attack works well at 20' it must work EVEN BETTER if you're right up in that Warhulk's face, right? >_>) -
I'm with McNum on Fly... That's just fun. ^_^
I also love pretty much the entire Dual Blade set, Burst from Kin Melee and almost everything my Peacebringer does. -
I was trying to make a new toy for my ickle lowbie (Mighty level 16 now! XD) Corruptor... 'Hope that recipe doesn't get lost.

Quote:I wish I had your Commons luck at the moment... My stalker didn't have any trouble getting those, or the number of uncommons she needed. (Her difficulty came in finding Rares-) The tank, on the other hand has been stuck in Uncommon hell.I also have gotten crap rewards from completing, and i have been grinding 4-5 times a day with the same character since i20 release.
80% commons, 20% uncommons.
The inf cost for rare/very rare is way too high for me to progress if i am to keep getting screwed.
bots/ff
Seriously, I've done a bit over a dozen assorted runs with him so far and with the sole exception of the very first Lambda he was on (Where he died several times, yet somehow still pulled out a Rare. o_0) Uncommon is all he's gotten. No commons, no additional rares.
I have yet to see the Very Rare table with anyone. -
Quote:I'm wondering the same thing. Where are you guys finding all these threads? I tend to end up with somewhere in the four to six range per run, for both the BAF and Lambda. Astral merits get me more, but those don't really fall from the sky in droves either... So, how's it done? I need to know. All my tank's been getting are Uncommons, and that's not what he needs a ton of to craft his toys.I'm confused why everybody says this. I get a handful of thread drops per run (lowest was 2, not sure what the highest was). Breaking down the 4 Astral merits gets me another 16. I need 140 threads to craft all the Commons I need to get up to a single T3 Destiny. Am I missing some huge fountain of threads everybody but me knows about, or what?

Quote:I have the rare level defence version Clocks for Kestrel (A Builder and Mender; both targetable. She calls them "Bubble & Squeak".My Clockwork have been doing just fine, and I have the most damage-oriented rares, with no self-defense abilities. I usually drop them before the Siege/Nightstar phase on BAF and the Marauder fight in Lambda, and they usually both survive unless I die myself. On those two, it helps that they're ranged, so they stay away from Marauder's Nova Fist. They're not invincible, but they can take a beating.
), and they've held up really well. I'm sure it helps that they're typically Invisable and always inside Barrier-range when she fires it, but they don't seem to be especially fragile pets. They honestly take a lot less tending than her Adept.

Doing a Lambda run yesterday afternoon.
I was on Palrah, my WP/DB tank, who has his Alpha level shift but was just beginning to work on the other Incarnate slots. 'Jumped into one of the outside goon spawns without much concern... It wasn't even a huge one... No warwalkers, nothing that looked all that dangerous... and *SMACK*. Knocked flat on his butt faster than I could say "Holy crap, those guys hit hard. o_0"
I'm just not used to getting owned like that with Pally, even when I throw him at higher-level enemies. Granted, he's a WP tank and so not completely indestructible... I usually have a very good feel for what he can handle and what he can't... but it's been a long time since he really felt at all "squishy" to me.
Yesterday, eating Praetorian pavement? My poor tank felt about as tough as a creampuff. -
I can't speak for anyone else's preferences, but I've been having an absolute blast running the new trials with my favorite DB/WP Stalker.
I tend to play her as a sneaky scrapper on teams, and Lambda is very well suited for that. She also started out with a pretty high-end set build and a VR Alpha, which helped a lot early on. Getting Barrier slotted up also made for easier going. -
Get thee to the Tier 4s, Xinner. Then you'll have the new toys, too... And the build you have backing them up will *still* be better than most.
-
Colored the right way, it's a VERY air-benderish power set... I went that direction with Shade, my own KM stalker.
(And, for what it's worth, having a KM stalker and a scrap both at 50 and a KM tank at 31, I much prefer it as a stalker or tank set. My scrap, Solace, is a little disappointing.) -
Quote:The League frame when displaying the entire league is made to benefit two types of players: the league leader (who can use it to identify ATs, switch people around and tell who is in trouble) and people with single target heals (who can use it to easily spot a dropping life bar).
For people with single target shield type powers the best option is to ditch the large screen and set up a focus tab where you can monitor buff status on those characters that really need it.
Just my $0.02.
Having used it with Suzume, my FF defender, on a recent MSR... I 'd say it's very useful for anyone throwing individually-targeted buffs around for more than just their own team.
Being able to simply go down the list and toss bubbles on everyone as I came to them was absolutely ace. A BIG improvement over just pulling my camera view back and trying to catch people "on the move".
Then again, I tend to bubble-up EVERYONE (and everything- I even get the pets. XD), not just the squishies. Given that, I probably get more use out of it than people who are more specific. -
I dunno, Geko. I've done a lot of these trials since they went live, with a very stabby, very active Stalker. She and her pets have held BAF doors, taken out 9CU spawns and IDF ambushes, chopped up AVs, stopped to throw Barrier and heals at people and the whole nine yards... and the vast majority of the time, I've gotten the Commons table when all was said and done. It took me several days and a ridiculous number of runs just to get the four Rare bits I needed for her tier 3s.
If what Kestrel has been doing in those trials is considered "low end" (and I'd call getting the Commons table the lowest of the bit rewards-), I'd say the scale of what consitutes "active participation" must be pretty ludicrous, if it exists.
Personally, I suspect it's all random. I've always had absolutely crap luck with random drops, and the rate of seeing anything other than commons come up is completely consistant with my RNG experiences elsewhere in the game. -
I'm fond of Quicksilver Falcon, Shade in Shadow and Mister Bibbles.
-
I may eventually do a bit of Incarnate stuff with my "mostly-Human" PB, but he's not at the top of the list. I suspect a lot of us have Khelds like that... Characters in the "wold be nice, but not a priority" ranks.
-
Quote:This... Kestrel kept getting zarked by Cardinal (her Adept side-kick) every once in awhile last night. 'Also got shot at by a Mastermind team-mate's demons. It was very "Hey! Watch where you're firing that thing!"The escapees have some kind of confusion aura - not sure exactly how it works, but it's not a bug.
-
I'm not interested in the tier 4s, either... But I was glad to get the tier 3s on all four of the new ones for Kestrel this evening. I actually really enjoy the new trials, and having both Incarnate level shifts for them is nice.
Now I get to turn around and do the same thing all over again with Palrah. o_0 -
Quote:Interesting... and that definitley explains something odd I noticed throwing it at groups of 9CUs yesterday afternoon.there is currently a bug with ion judgement, the initial hit is not affected by dmg buffs, but when it does a jump, the jumps are buffable by dmg buffs atm
I have the Tier 3 Core version on my stalker, and when I tossed Ionic at groups using her Build-up out of Hide the target I centered on did indeed take much less damage than the other bots the effect "jumped" to afterwards. (Which was bad since said-anchor-target would then turn around and zark the crap out of her... but that's sort-of the story of a stalker's life. XD) -
I almost always pick Flight. Not because it's the safest or the easiest for navigation purposes, but because for me it's just flat-out FUN to fly. I like my crew getting around that way.
(The only two characters of mine who don't fly both have Super Jump, which is also quite a lot of fun. Go-Go super bouncy-Bane! XD) -
Quote:Yeah... My blue-side Stalkers were in heaven with that one. The bombs and pop-up guns can't "see" through Hide, and Doc tends to go down pretty fast when you start out hitting him with a built-up AS.One of my most fun tips was actually run blue-side (me, blueside! Imagine that!). The mission was to run through a warehouse fun of gun turrets and proximity-bombs. After my Defender tried playing duck-and-tag a couple of times, I realized "Hey, isn't this a bubbler defender?" and felt kind of stupid. Turned on the personal nothing-touches-me-ever bubble, ran through and was done in five minutes tops.
Those same Stalkers also do well with the higher level Bomb Triggers tip. Poor Eddie's AI just doesn't seem to know what to do about Stalkers... "Ow! Quit it! Hey. Where'd you go? Hmm... I guess I'll wave my guns around and try to look impressive... Ow! Quit it!" XD -

Since most of my crew are not only members of the same SG, but also members of the same (very low population/very small area of origin) non-Primal species... and in several cases, are also members of the same few family groups... I just start out with the assumption that many of them knew each other and worked together long before starting their "careers" as player characters, and continue to do the same "off screen" now.
The entire group numbers about two dozen at this point, and would probably be a fairly frightening force if they all showed up together. Given their usual habits, though, an 'average' flight encountering trouble out on patrol would be no more than two or three, and there are a lot of established duos/trios among them.
Ty'ree and Ash (DB Tank and DB Scrap), for instance, are pretty close in age and grew up together. They've been best friends since before either of them fledged their first set of flight feathers. While you'll never actually see the two of them tag-teaming a GM or AV together in-game (They're both on the same account-), it's the kind of thing I can easily imagine them doing on a regular basis out-of-play. Likewise Winter Sky (KM Tank) and Summer Night (Elec Stalker), who are a couple, or Keiranen (Archery Blaster), Khaemon (Ax Tank), Khalanis (Dark Defender) and Ke'khali (DB Scrap) who are all siblings.
Some smaller groupings would be scarier than others, but I suspect any given roatation of eight would do well enough. They'd probably be very melee-heavy, the collective's only defenders being a Dark (Lan), a FF/Rad (Suzume) and a Trick Arrow (Zhen), and the closest thing to a controller being a lowbie Mind/Psi dom (Asa'Davi)... but none of them are push-overs. They'd make it a hell of a fight. XD
As for the NON-birdbrains? They'd be pretty scary, too.
A Night Widow, a Sonic Defender and a Rad Defender... Plus a Bane, an Ill/Kin controller, a claws stalker, a Warshade and a Ninja/FF Mastermind, if they side-kicked in the under-50's. They'd make a mess. -
Quote:Agreed...Her story prevents it but I think it's pretty much implied that she has some form of minimal compassion for people in some situation. Actually, while GW is more popular, Scirocco is probably a better candidate for GR since he is specifically cursed to do evil and would rather not do what he does or at least not on the level that he's doing it.
Scir really does seem to be a better candidate for Rogue to me than GW. He's not one of the "good guys", but he seems less willfully evil than the rest of that crew. Given the curse business, the results come out looking just as wicked, but the intent isn't the same.
