Quote:Indeed. It'd be great to have a "murder of doves" CCE right now, but I could see where something like that might be introduced for the upcoming Winter or Valentine Events.
I'm still waiting for a cherry blossoms aura, too. [pokes the art crew with the Hint Stick]
That aside, +1 for the Crows idea. I know I'll build new bird-things between now and next Halloween, and I'd hate to have to wait a year to get them that CCE. -
I have a Claws/WP scrap that I've had a great time playing... I haven't run into much so far (He's 43-) that did more than slow him down. I bet a brute with that power-set combination would do pretty well for himself, too.

Quote:I didn't mind the PvP, honestly. My sorcerer gave as good as he got when it came to that sort of thing. What I hated was the game allowing higher level griefers to rift into lower level zones with what amounted to an automated slap on the wrist.Well, here's the thing. It was advertised as PVPVE. The PVP was put forward very heavily... so someone not that interested in that style of game, well.... it's like someone who doesn't like shooters picking up Modern Warfare, or someone who hates RTS buying Starcraft II - what else would they be expecting?
I didn't resent the similarly-leveled Ranger who made a game out of trying to stalk Kae while I was out collecting crafting materials, or even the guys who would wait until I was in the middle of a fight with some critter to try a hit-and-run. I expected to have to deal with that kind of thing, and it was fun.
Having a group of six who were obviously more than a few levels higher than me rift in and gank Kae while I was talking to a PvE mission contact... and then stay there camping that contact to flatten anyone else who came near them? THAT ticked me off. And that kind of crap happened all the time. -
Quote:I've already run the HoH mission on all 30-some of my bird-things just to get that CCE for them (So... Many... Zombies...Making Murder of Crows CCE available for sale for future toons and not having to run it one every single one
), but even so I'd give this idea a big +1.
I'll want it for Papageno, too, see. <_<
And I can't actually build him until Titan Weapons is live. >_>
Which probably won't be until some time after the Halloween trial goes away. >_<
So. Yeah.
Murder of Crows in the shop, please. -

Quote:+1 to this.Believe it's been mentioned, but I'd say any non-holiday costume unlocks.
Thank you for the time...
There have been times I've wanted to use the Roman armor or the Rularuu swords on a character right out of the gate, long before they hit the level they can unlock either of those things. It would be nice to be able to have them on everyone somehow... even if it was something you could only buy for all of your characters after you unlocked it the "old fashioned way" in-game on one. -
Quote:The game was just beautiful, Aura, and there were bits of it that really were great fun in spite of the short-comings. (I wish my winged fliers in City were animated half as well as Kae was in the air, on those rare occasions when he did get to fly-) Those, and the fleeting hope that the Korean dev team might actually listen to some of the Western players' suggestions, kept me there.Wow you guys have a loooooot of patience. Some of the stuff you all listed that you put up with would have had me cancel on day one.
Perhaps I'm getting less patient about such mmo nonsense as I get older in age.
That, and a certain affection for Kae himself... Sorcerers had some interesting powers and effects, and I took some satisfaction out of having the firepower to blast the crap out of rifters who saw him as an "easy kill". -
Quote:Agreed... (Although it was those evil, evil Asmodians gunning for my poor, fluffy little Sorcerer. If they took two pages from Rift's book (PvP-focused servers, and flag-option PvP), I might go back. Not until then.
Which was a pity because the game was gorgeous. I spent HOURS just staring at it thinking, "My God, the videos I could make in here... if I weren't CONSTANTLY BEING SHOT IN THE BACK BY RAIDING ELYOS TEAMS EVERY TEN SECONDS!")
I started out with Aion during the first closed beta, and wanted so badly to like the game... I tried. I really did. I stuck with it for quite awhile after launch. I put up with the obnoxious PvPers, and the griefers, and the RMT spam. I tried to work around the forced teaming and the endless grind that was the crafting system. I took to gliding every chance I got just to have an excuse to use Kae's wings. (It really is unforgivable to make a game about winged, flying things and then deny them the ability to fly in 90% of the game. >_<)
In the end, though, I just... couldn't. Losing Kae's name when they did the server merge was the final straw. (I created him literally five minutes after the game went live on Day 1, and yet my appeal to get his name back was denied. I never have figured that one out.) I cancelled my subscription and haven't gone back.
I don't think NCSoft will ever make the same kind of mistakes with City that were made with Aion as far as playability goes... The starting point is too different, and unlike the US Aion crew, Paragon seems to have a fair bit of autonomy when it comes to their game... But that experience hasn't given me much confidence when it comes to any bits that NCSoft DOES handle. Like the billing and CS end of things... -
It is a very Good Thing.
Those two little perks were the first things I bought from the market, even before I got my chibi Bane his rocketboard. -

... And that's when Whisper (a short little wisp of a stalker, who beat the absolute snot out of him-) just shakes her head and calls him a dork.

Quote:I've been PUGing it almost exclusively while getting the CCE on all of my bird things, and the queue has come up with a few... interesting... combinations.4 controllers? Really? Weird.
See, thats where the LFG needs to be fine tuned. When you queue, you should be clicking the style of play you plan on doing (Tank, Support, Control, Melee, Range) so it adequately builds your team.
The reason I find 4 controllers weird is that I was under the assumption that it was already forming teams in a very basic manner this way, because every time I've done the trial, I've gotten a nice mix of players. (Tank, Dmg, Support/Control). Guess I was just lucky.
The most humorous one was on Union. My KM stalker ended up grouped with three Controllers. I've been giggling about Adammas being a tank ever since.
(He did, in fact, successfully tank the Abomination.)

I've never tried to duplicate a comic book character, really... but there is a bit of Stephen Strange in Talisander's personality. I'm not quite sure how that happened, but I can't deny it's there.
Also, the Unquiet Bride's name came from the lyrics of a Decemberists song. I had the name first, and built the character and her background around it. I suppose that counts as inspiration of a sort. -
FCM and I both got one last night... My date was on the 19th. His isn't until the 28th.
I... don't get the timing. It's bizarre. But at least Cardinal can have his wings now. -
Those sound effects are one of the things I really love about my Peacebringers. 'Pretty fond of the visual effects, too.
-
Ooof.
So...
Many...
Zombies...
I'm only about half-way through getting that CCE on my bird-things and I'm already starting to crave fresh brains. -
Quote:I don't care how "cocky" she's supposed to be... The kiddo-thing is still annoying. <_<Twinshot is a former member of the US Special Forces turned cocky superhero. I would be surprised if she doesn't call anyone short of Statesman or General Aarons 'kiddo'.
I ran the arcs once with Anigan just to see them. I haven't run them again with anyone else, and I don't intend to. I'll stick to DfB, street-sweeping and radio missions... Or just letting my new characters spend their first 20-odd levels in Praetoria. -
Quote:And, by that reasoning, we shouldn't have had female bovine heads in the Animals pack. After all, the minotaur was male. <_<Except that the Gorgons were female in the myth/story, there were no males.
So in all actuality it does make sense, it isn't the first time they've limited costume pieces to certain genders.
Sorry, but I'm just not convinced that's a "good enough" reason to gender-limit costume pieces. -
-
Okay... so why can't guys use the Medusa hair-snakes? That's the one thing that bugs me here. It's a useful piece and there's no good rason for it to be gender-limited.
I'd really hoped the art crew had finally learned their lesson when it came to that kind of thing. -
"Brain in a jar"...
That'll make a lot of would-be Mad Scientists happy. -
Quote:True, that...And, well, any sane superhero would run from her crew like plague, whether Twinshot herself is personal friends with FP members or not...
I figure Anigan stuck around just to keep "those dang-fool kids" out of trouble. The guy may be a gruff old bruiser, but he's still got a protective streak, and that bunch seemed pretty hopeless. <_< -
Quote:That's really the only problem I had with Twin Shot... The automatic assumption that my character was some young pup.I used to defend Twinshot's arc, but in retrospect, it's because I actually was playing a "kiddo" in it, so the specificity of her narrative didn't register with me at the time. Looking back on it, it's just the same mess as Dr. Graves - it assumes my character is a young rookie who fell over backwards into super powers. Just yesterday, I was proofreading someone's backstory which showed his character as a capable, smart veteran cop who knew the system and was simply dissatisfied with it. Getting called "kiddo" by a woman who looks like she can't be a day older than 30 doesn't strike me as appropriate in the situation.
I was running those arcs with Anigan. He's old enough to be any of those kids' father. It was just face-palm worthy silliness to have him constantly addressed as "kiddo". >_>
Now, I know as well as anyone that it's impossible for the writers to account for even a fraction of the character designs we come up with, and that often their "default" choices can lead to some grumbling (See the massive number of dialogue points that refer to all characters as "human", for instance, even when many of us play things that obviously aren't-), but it seems reasonable to me for them to at least make *some* effort to avoid that kind of thing where possible.
But they don't.
And we end up with something ridiculous.
Like this "kiddo"-business. -
Quote:Yep. I just checked my Talisander account and it's the same for that one. Billing date on the 19th, just like the main account... but got its 400 points on the 12th. o_0Same here. Both of my accounts got their Paragon Points on the 12th. My main account, due on the 28th got his 550, the secondary, due on the 15th got his 400. It looks like the script they ran moved up the delivery date for everybody, rather than just the people it was supposed to.

No contest. I'd rebuild Palrah (WP/DB tank) and Grey Kestrel (DB/WP stalker), my blue-side and red-side mains... and I suspect I'd be content with just those two for quite awhile.
Sure, I'd miss almost all of the others... I'm awfully fond of Ash and Silver (my favorite scrappers), and Mist (my Incarnate peacebringer) and Shade (KM stalker), for instance... But my favorites are still my favorites, and they'd get priority when it came to picking up the pieces and starting over.
