  1. For females, I can easily say the "Tank Top".

It's the only 'Tops with Skin' we get that doesn't look like body paint and actually looks like what it's supposed to be, in my opinion.

Yay, you repeated an over-used, childish, and cliche joke! Woohoo! Way to be original!

    Ghost Falcon:

I'm going to suggest you put all chat-related bugs into the *critical* category.

    Why?

Because chat-related bugs are the single most visble category of bugs in the game. EVERYONE sees them. EVERYONE deals with them.

Seeing your most basic social interface bugged, in an established MMORPG, presents a very unpolished and unprofessional product.

I strongly urge you to put all reported chat interface bugs on the "critical - do not release until fixed" list.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This what I've been trying to say for the past month or so.

I got ALL my current upto date drivers.

If you have nVidia, revert to a previous driver. The new ones that were released are causing this problem for lots of people, me included. Search Fu is your friend. :P
  6. To make a PC that is upgradeable for a long time, you need two things (assuming you have enough power from your Power Supply to feed the extensions):

    1. A good, top of the line Motherboard.
    2. A good Case.

A good motherboard can easily be over $300.

If you raise your budget to $400, you'll have a lot better chances. And we're not even talking about the CPU yet, which is the most expensive part before Graphics Card.

But if you really wanna stick to your budget, here's a Motherboard I'd recommend:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131296

It's an Asus P5Q-E. I'm currently using the motherboard, and it's absolutely fantastic. It has great room for extensions, a fantastic support for a wide array of products, room for maximum of 16 GB of RAM, and it's a trusted brand.

    Edit:

I just re-read the forum, stumbled upon this:

    [ QUOTE ]
I'd like to avoid motherboard changeout since it would require a new installation of the OS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's heavily recommended to install a new OS when you do any major upgrades (like changing the motherboard/CPU).

  8. Revert to nVidia 185.85 drivers. Many people are experiencing this issue with the 186.18 driver that was released yesterday.
  9. Well I had the issues on 7. When I reverted, everything got fixed. So.
  10. It worked! OMG! I love you! xD
  11. Go back to Driver 185.85. 186.18 isn't working for a lot of people, me included.
  12. Do you happen to have nVidia with the latest driver that was released today?

    I'm experienced vaguely similar issues.

There have been some problems reported with the Logitech SetPoint software. You may want to do a search in this forum to see what the issue and workaround was.

Ugh. Bloody SetPoint. Always has to mess something up. xD

I'll try it later tonight. I'll post the results.

Hmm...maybe try running fullscreen in safe mode? Maybe there's a conflicting setting or something. You may also want to post up a CoH Helper and HijackThis (Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here) up here for the techies to take a look at.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've tried safe mode. Didn't work. I didn't think I'd need a HijackThis/CoH Helper log since I have a completely fresh install. But here it goes:

  15. I'm using the 186.something Windows 7 driver that was released today.

I rolled it back to your version. No luck. So I got it back to the new version.
  16. I know. I tried going through the threads about Windows 7, didn't find anything.

I noticed the driver I downloaded today from nVidia was updated -today-. So I'm gonna try installing an older version to see if it works... *crosses fingers*
  17. Update:

Using TweakCoH, I seem to be able to run the game in Window Mode. But full screen, I just can't get it running no matter what compatibility settings I set. Any ideas?!
  18. Today I updated my PC to Windows 7 RC1 (64-bit). It's a fresh install.

However, when I tried to load CoH, I hear the sound, I know the game is running, but all I see is a black screen. I can't even see the pictures of statesman and the login boxes.

I'm using an nVidia 9800 GT graphics card, and I have the latest nVidia drivers. It's the same drivers I used on Vista 2 hours ago.

Any help with this issue would be heavily appreciated.

    Another quasi-half-fix. Yay.

  20. [ QUOTE ]
Well it appears that Character Descriptions have been fixed in the I15 beta... sort of.

Unfortunately the game is still stripping out any Unicode from our text. Unicode had been allowed for 5 years up until I14. For the life of me I can't figure out what "exploit" that restriction is suppose to take care of in our character descriptions.

Also it appears while we can have separate lines of text again it's using some kind of weird <cr><lf> deal that ultimately wastes more of our allotted character space for text than it used to. I tested this by cutting-n-pasting a description that used to fit perfectly before I14 but now it has the last roughly 10 characters of the last couple of words truncated. Now I have to go back and re-wordsmith my descriptions to get them to fit again. *sigh*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ugh. And it didn't occur to them to raise the cap to compensate for this. *facepalm*
  21. [ QUOTE ]
You just had to understand the mechanics of the system, accept that there were some characters you might not be able to beat on a particular character (a Fire Blaster might have issues beating a Fire Tanker, for example). It took a lot of losing and a lot of stupid mistakes on my part to become a decent PvPer, and it kind of sucks that after all that, the system was dumbed down for those that couldn't be arsed to put in the effort to do the same.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly. But believe it or not, a lot of people around here don't have time, patience, and motivation to 'learn'. We've learned enough in RL. Now we're here to play a game and have fun. I shouldn't -have- to taken Hasten on all my characters to perform decently in PvP. I shouldn't -have- to take Super Speed and learn the 'technique' of running around and jousting. That, actually, was my biggest complaint about old PvP. It was -all- two people Super Speeding around each other. It isn't fixed much right now either, but it's improved.

In my opinion, in a good PvP system, any AVERAGE build played by any AVERAGE player should have a CHANCE of winning, even if it is a very small chance. The old PvP system did not offer this.

In regards to a Night Widow with 70% defense, no. The person in question was solo. And it -is- possible with stacked Mind Link and enough Recharge with loads of Defense bonuses from IOs.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
The old PvP sucked. It really did.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, you're probably right. Faced-paced combat, ATs that had defined roles, powers that did the same thing they did in PvP as they did in PvE, and the ability of support toons to actually contribute to a team meaningfully other than damage kinda sucked. All the new PvP has done is replace various imbalances with more imbalances, most of which are far worse.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That is exactly my point.

However, this is the only thing I like about the new PvP. I, myself, was not into PvP. I hated it. Why? Because I couldn't have fun. Why couldn't I have fun, you ask?

Because there would be a Night Widow in a zone with over 70% defense to everything WITHOUT their Tier 9 who could not be touched. Because fighting a Stone Tank would almost always lead to a draw. Because unless you were a 'pro' with a very specific FoTM build, you kept losing and losing and losing, with no signs of potential win.

In PvP 2.0, most of those still apply. I'm not a pro, and I still keep losing. There are still very specific FoTM builds runnin' around who are nearly monsters. However, in PvP 2.0, even though I still lose to them, this round I have FUN while losing to them. Why, you ask? Because at least I -have- a chance of win, regardless how small it is. I can actually hit stuff with my cheap PvE build. I can actually make my enemy run away with my clumsy PvP skills.

I can imagine how if you were a 'king' back then are all sad cause you lost your crown to some 'noobs'. But us noobs actually enjoy some of the new changes because now we can also take a shot at that crown.

As I said, on the other hand, the new PvP is ridiculous at times. Personally, I think the whole damage changes, the heal suppression, and the Mez suppression COULD be implemented more cleverly. And that is why even for us noobs, the new PvP is far from perfect. But it's better. Not by much, but still better.
