Quote:Aw.I feel like I'm behind a cloudy pane of glass trying to do stuff I'm used to on these forums.
Quote:How do I pull up a list of smilies? I'm a cold, emotionless person without them. I also can't be a jerk and still add a winky face to the end of a sentence to make it seem like I was kidding. Wink.
Quote:How do I easily get to a list of my posts? Before I could hit Member List, and I'd be at the very top, and I could just click myself and then view my posts. Here, I can't figure out how to get there at all. Do I have to subscribe to every thread I post in?
On top of that, you can subscribe to a whole forum. That forum would also show up in your User CP. Treat User CP as your little forum front page! It has everything you need, so you really don't have to ever leave it and skim through a jungle of posts to find the ones you are interested in.
Quote:For that matter, how do I easily get to my own userpage to view things like messages left there? I can't seem to get there through the User CP and the easiest way I've found to get there is to click on my name in one of my posts. Which is harder to do when I can't view a listing of my posts.
Alternatively, find a post of your own, click on your name right above your avatar, and a menu pops up! Fancy!
Quote:How do I quote someone who quoted someone? Anytime I try to quote someone it just throws in their post without any previous quotes. If I click multiquote it just lights up waiting for something. Do I have to click every post and manually embed the quotes into eachother?
Awww. You poor thing. :P -

Quote:Oh for cryin' out loud, Alt, stop whining! Either play the freakin' game or quit! There are so many things wrong with this post, and I'm not even gonna begin arguing with you cause I know it's pointless to argue with someone who's crying on top of their lungs cause people aren't playing the way they are "supposed to" by your standards.Actually it doesn't. It would be a lot slower path to level to 50 by just mission complete rewards, but you could level to 50, so it does not invalidate the statement.
I would rather that we didn't have to remove the majority of mission rewards in order to get this situation straitened out, but that is becoming more obviously the case.
I'd be happy enough if the tickets only unlocked unlockable-content, and I've already unlocked it all.
Even if only Dev's Choice and Hall of Fame missions were the only missions to give xp in the MA, you would still be able to level to 50 in the MA and, thus, the statement that you can level to 50 in the MA would not be invalidated.
The sad part is that some farming missions may have become DEV's Choice or Hall of Fame missions because of the criteria used to select the missions and the fact that they may not be "inspected" before they given these rewards.
Or that is at least what appeared to be happening as far as I could tell for a while, maybe this oversight has been resolved. It may have even been resolved a while back. I've been fed up with the situation in the AE for quite a while now and don't inspect it like I did in the early days.
I see nowhere that indicates that MA is an alternate path to get to level 50 in less than a day in anything released by Paragon Studios or NCSoft - that is a notion that is only lodged in the brains of exploiters.
The very least that could be done at this point is to separate a farming AE from the normal AE and place the farming AE in a non starting zone, maybe in it's own zone that his new and has everything the farms need/want.
At that point, the Farmers can have no complains when their accounts are closed when they try to get farming teams or post farming content in a non-farm area of the game. If this happened at least the farmers wouldn't be in Atlas any more and their wouldn't be farming missions in the way when people were looking for the "story" missions in the AE.
I'm still under the understanding that the DEVs don't want any farming going on in the AE - let alone the exploit-farming that is so common place in the AE. -
I hope this is to address the Monkey Business.

Quote:Holy crap! You can do that?!Thread Subscription is nice, yes, but the part I like even more is the Forum Subscription. Just add the Forums that you are interested in and visit frequently, and there is no need to scroll through the main list. Bookmarking the English section instead of the main forums was the first thing I did, but the Forum Subscription is a HUGE WIN! You can pick forums from separate sections that way, read the one you want.. mark that forum as read. Click your CP, and move onto the next. lol
That is awesome! -
Quote:I'm pretty sure the problem is on your side. The new forums are very smooth for me. No issues whatsoever.Loading these forums is cumbersome, am I the only one getting graphic issues whilst on the villian version (the hero version was far worse).
What happens is that I could scroll down to virtue, ect, smoothly prior, now something is L...a...g...ing...my scrolling and it's entirely choppy. Even my guild site is smoother then this now o.0
this a tweeking issue on my end? Happens even after I've gone away for a while and the entire thread's loaded.
Just looking for some advice o.@ Also I'm see aot of guides and formatted things like broken and displaying code. Is that fixable or should I just deal with it since it's past three days? (my patch notes looked awful the other day)
Regards,

The single most dominant feature of these forums that I like so very much is the thread subscription system. We did have a similar thing with the old boards, but it wasn't so easy to use as it is now.
Every time you post in a thread, you automatically subscribe. When you next visit, you just go to User CP, and all your subscribed threads with new posts are listed there. You don't even have to go to the front page of the forums.
And I guess I'm one of the few people who loves the new design. I like the colors. Looks very modern and Web 2.0-ish. -

Quote:Did you try making the text size larger? Depending on your browser, you should have an option to do that. It could be because of the small font (especially Arial) combined with low contrast?I don't know if it's the new people on the forums or just the forums, but they have started to give me a headache. The old ones didn't.. Honestly, I got a headache about 15 minutes into posting and reading. Never happen before. I had to eat 2 Soma and 2 oxycodones and it is just starting to subside.

Quote:...me, along with most people I know, don't farm like that...Thank god no! Listened to enough of them on vent though. Seems pretty straightforward. Sit by door with a 46, other 6 people beat the everlovin crap out of the map. I hit 50 before dinner. Lookit all that risk I had to deal with. Whew. Glad I was up to all the alt+tabbing and watching YouTube I had to do so I could be 50. I'm sure I'll be a valuable asset to a team now.
No wonder you think the risk vs. reward is skewed.
And I fully agree with c4maniac.
By your definition, and that of was most people who are opposed to farming in AE, doing the same old newspaper missions and the same old content after 5 years can be considered farming. So, in a sense, we're all farmers! OH MY GOD! WE'RE ALL BRINGING THE DEATH OF COH! :O -
Quote:Shweet. Thanks for confirmation. I thought my memory cells were being stupid again. :PDouble XP did NOT stack with patrol xp. I had a few toons that I got some levels on that had sat for some time. Lots of patrol xp. Total patrol xp only got reduced by paying off debt and it just looked like it got smaller due to the amount of it was a smaller % of your newer level(s).

Quote:Have you ever been the leader of an AE boss farm team?Ah. So of course they actually meant challenge themselves and receive rewards far outweighing any risk. How silly of me to not realize that "challenging" themselves meant 1-50 in a few hours of Lt farming.
How would removing rewards prevent them from challenging themselves?
EDIT: Farming is farming. Meh. Take it or leave it. I'll leave it as I can maybe manage one run before being bored to tears anyway. AE levelling (especially via (broken) farms) is my gripe.
How about you try it and see if it is a challenge or not.
And any challenge, has its rewards. -

Quote:The servers do not ever go to red anymore. If I remember correctly, after they upgraded the servers, they made it such that if it -did- go into red, it would automatically gray out. So you wouldn't actually ever see a server go into the red zone anymore. It goes straight to gray after yellow. The colored dots do not indicate population - they indicate server load, which is a good predictor of how much lag you will experience. Since the servers were upgraded, they go red much less often. This is a good thing, and is not a sign of lower population.
Quote:There were several reasons for lower server populations on Farmdom and Virtue.
Some players are actually moving away from playing on Farmdom and Virtue because they are the worst for AE farming/pl'ing/exploiting.
I know that I'm haven't played on either one of them for a couple of months now because of the rampant AE abuse there. I drop into pay base rent and set up some trades on the market every now and then, but I don't team there at all any more and won't until this situation calms down.
Oh, well my highest average character levels are highest on those two servers at any rate. Better to give the other servers some more love at this point anyway.
Quote:Another reason is that this wasn't a "welcome back"/account reactivation weekend - this usually corresponds with 2XP Weekend. I'm glad it didn't this time.
Quote:New player bad experience when entering the starting zones fulled with AE spams and not being able to find low level teams? Were there a lot of sewer teams running? Were there any activities for new players to get involved with recently? Anyone running any low level content to help players learn how to enjoy playing the game?
Regardless, I'm not in a position to tell people, new or not, how they -should- enjoy the game. Sometimes the new players also like to farm. And if they end up being AE-babies...*shrug*...they won't be hopping on my teams for TFs any time soon. :P
Quote:New players joining and burning out on farming or pl'd to "win"? If you are jaded to the game, farming is fun to some. If you are looking to play a superhero game and you are told to sit there and do nothing while others play or just fight the same thing all the time, it gets pretty boring. Some players only play a MMORPG to get a 50 and once that happens, they have "won the game", and are done with it.
Quote:Yeah, I wasn't too excited about 2XP Weekend either, especially after I found out that the DEVs slipped up and allowed 2XP in the AE as well. Heck, I was running on x1.5XP with Patrol XP on most of my characters already so the 2XP just stacked on top of that!
Guess I learn something new everyday! -
Threads are marked as new with a little downwards pointing triangle to the left of the title. If clicked, it'll take you straight to the newest post.

Quote:Yes.Has server load on 2xp weekend caused the servers to go down in the past? I've been around for 3 or 4 2xp weekends and never seen them go down. Was this before they changed the code so that they grey out?
Before, the servers were also older. It was quite common to see servers crash during Double XP. -
Quote:People are not complaining why the servers aren't down. People are concluding, that BECAUSE the servers weren't down, then that means the population of people playing over the Double XP wasn't the same as before, and from that, they blame it on AE, and then arrive at the OBVIOUS logical conclusion that CoH is dying.I'm not sure what you're talking about with the servers going down. I've never heard a single person complain that a server wasn't down. Why would anyone EVER want a server to go down?
Sadly, a lot of these people want to ignore the fact that we didn't have a reactivation weekend. Cause that would poke a huge hole in their oh-so-coherent logic. xD -
Quote:I was very surprised at the lack of population as well just going off the past where Freedom and Virtue were essentially greyed out. Maybe it was the summer, I don't now, but it worries me to a degree about the lack of people. We did NOT have an account reactivation weekend with this double XP weekend.

Quote:That's true. The issue is, some people around here think they have a right to dictate others about how to things in this game. Its the same in every MMO though. There are things some people like and there are things some people hate. Regardless of what the Devs do, you're going to get people on one side of the fence while some are on the other.
Mind you, I'm not talking about the original poster. Their complaint was more or less legit compared to the other ones. My post was basically a somewhat off-topic rant, because coming to forums has become something depressing as of late with all these QQ threads. -
You know what bugs me?
Before this double XP weekend, people would come here on the forums, whining about the fact that Double XP weekend was too busy, servers were over-populated due to account reactivations, and they didn't get to play, and for this they wanna cancel their subscription
This double XP weekend, people are coming here on the forums, whining about the fact population was too low and from that concluding that AE is killing CoH, and they'd be better off jumping off a sinking boat by cancelling their subscription.
Before the PvP changes, people would come here on the forums, whining about how PvP is lame and how it is unbalanced and how they were gonna quit the game over it.
After the PvP changes, people would come here on the forums, whining about how PvP is lame and how it is unbalanced and how they are gonna quit the game over it.
Before AE was developed, people would come here on the forums, whining about how slow leveling was. Every 5 days, someone would post a thread in suggestions board that veterans should have an option to start a character at level 20. They would go on and on about how the content in this game was so boring and that they were getting tired of "beating the same old mobs" over and over again, and for this, they were gonna move on to a more shiny game.
After AE was developed, people would come here on the forums, whining about how leveling is too fast. Every 5 days, someone posts a thread about AE ruining CoH. They go on and on about how AE is being abused and that devs aren't doing anything about it and how going from level 1 to 50 in a few days is an unforgivable sin. They complain about how playing in AE is boring cause you beat on the same old mobs over and over again, and for this, they feel like CoH is dying and they should leave before its too late.
Notice a trend here?
The developers of this game have spoiled some people way too much. -

That would be my bet as well. They upgraded the website and made it all shiney. It'd be a shame if the forum was so cheap-looking in comparison.
